Say what you will about Starbucks, but I for one love their coffee. The STAFF at this location are tops as well. They seem to have fun in what they do, and that reflects on their customer service. I have come to this location a lot to study and it is a nice one. It is in a shopping mall which can make parking a little hectic but I haven't ever come when it is so full I cannot work. The baristas are always friendly and the drinks are usually done before I'm even finished paying unless there is a line. The only thing I will not understand about any Starbucks is why it is freezing inside and the WiFi even at full connection is slow! I understand, it's free so be grateful but it is difficult to study when things do not load promptly. read more

Always study here in between work and class and I have to say, they handle customers really well. Witnessed difficult customers since I go here a lot and can attest to the baristas' dedication to make customers satisfied. Since I'm a gold member, I get refills on iced coffee, cold brew, and iced tea when I study here and they are always very happy to do so. read more

The employees here are quick and friendly. Unless its a heavy study time for UCSD, then there is usually a lot of out door and enough in door seating. The place is perfect to sit and enjoy your drink. read more

Every morning I go into the Starbucks on my way to work and continue to be delighted with their service and coffee. Jamie has been my barista it seems like since Day One. She has been tremendous, always knowing exactly how I like my coffee and asking how my week was. She and the others there have been super-friendly. I actually think this starbucks is super cute and makes good drinks. The staff has always been friendly (I usually go in the late afternoon or evening). The hours are later than any other coffee place in this part of town which is super awesome if you are a student. Plus you can take the bus or walk from the UCSD campus to get here. However, the parking lot is a nightmare (known as the horrid "Ralphs parking lot") and you will find indoor seating maybe one time out of twenty... maybe. If you are hoping to score a seat inside bring a jacket because, in true Starbucks form this place is cold! Also, there usually is outdoor seating available though or you can grab your drinks here and then head over to the Ralphs internet lounge which has super comfy chairs, great internet, outlets and is open 24 hours. read more

Decided to come here for a hazelnut macchiato this morning and instead got americano!!! But of course I was charged the amount for the macchiato. Discovered their mistake when I took my first sip back at the office. So make sure to take a sip at the counter before leaving the store, just in case it's hot water and not whatever you ordered. I really like this location: the staff is friendly and it's near UCSD. The only thing that sucks is parking, but that's not their fault. It can also get crowded at times. The baristas here were a lot nicer than some other locations I've been to, hence the five stars :) read more

So far so Starbucks. Pricey coffee, pricey snacks (albeit massive crispy cakes) and almost perfect service. Staff are polite, chirpy and johnny on the spot when making several drinks at once. I've noticed at all hours of day and night the place seems busy with few if any seats available. If you cannot stand starbucks, try the coffee/deli in Ralph's next door, they aren't too bad either and offer more seating. read more

I have nothing against Starbucks at all. I go to the one near my house all the time. However, I go to this particular one because it's so close to the UCSD campus. And it is this particular one that, by far, is the worst coffee shop I've ever gone to.. not for it's coffee (which I'm pretty okay with), but for the terrible customer service. I've worked as a barista for a coffee shop before, and I feel that at the very least you need to smile and be polite to the customers. At this starbucks, I have stepped up to the counter for my turn to order just to have a male barista immediately stare at me with a "you gonna order something or what? hurry up"-look. Absolutely no greeting. No attempt for a friendly smile. Just a blank and slightly aggravated face. I placed my order, and he gave no thanks or well wishing that a barista normally should give. I visited in the middle of the day too, so the closing shift grumps can't have been it. And this instance wasn't the first and only time I've had a rude and unwelcoming encounter. It's happens several times. I've worked at a coffee shop that required us to greet and thank our customers and I realize coming from the other side of the counter how much of a difference that makes. So now I only go to THIS starbucks for specialty drinks that can't be replicated at other coffee shops. But if I'm feeling for a classic espresso drink or coffee, then I go to the nearby Coffee Bean, Peet's, the campus coffee shops... anywhere else! So bottom line: Starbucks, I'm good with. THIS ONE, is just awful for its workers. read more

mmm starbucks.... I was visiting San Diego on saturday and had to get some breakfast. One thing that I saw is that this place is super busy and the seating is bleek. The entire row of seating that was up against the wall was filled with people and their laptops. I ordered the oatmeal with the reccomendation of a friend that was not with me. I said oatmeal with 3 brown sugars... she said, so do you want everything? Yes I said, not knowing what everything was, but hey, how can I go wrong? So, I hear her yell, Oatmeal with everything and 3 brown sugars. So when I open the oatmeal, I expect to have something other than JUST oatmeal in there, but nope. Just oatmeal. huh. My friend who was with me asked for the Banana walnut muffin, forgetting that it isnt a muffin, its a loaf slice. (she is new to starbucks) But the cashier yelled, Banana Walnut Muffin, and then I hear the girl behind the counter say, hey! Wheres the Banana Walnut muffins???! After that the gal behind the espresso machine yells, its not a muffin its a loaf!! I thought, how embarrassing! We both got the Zebra hot chocolate, which was so delish!!! Thats the reason I return. =) So I will have to say, it was ok. The parking here is crazy... pay close attention to the lines on the spaces as well as how to get out of this mad house! read more

Ugh. Why do I keep coming back here?! Oh yeah that's right, because I'm a coffee junkie and too lazy to drive to a better location a little further away. I always leave here disappointed in one way or another. Several of the girls at this location are rude. There's always a high possibility that my drink was made wrong and I just drink it anyway to avoid dealing with their crappy attitudes. Oh and the parking situation is a MESS. I just want to send HUGE TOTS!! To the morning crew. They are truly amazing. They actually care about their customers. And go above & beyond for them. They know all the regulars by 1s name. They even take the time to listen to regulars explain what is going on in their lives. I have been a regular for almost a year now. And it truly feels like I am character from Cheers. Because every morning (Monday-Friday) I walk to grab my venti iced vanilla latte & they yell ",Finn." Before I started ordering my drink through your App. They would see me park my car & walk in. And already have been making my delicious latte. This it truly amazing. I have lived in many different areas & been a regular at many of your different Starbucks. However this location takes the cake on so many levels. They morning crew definitely deserves more than that 5 star rating. They are truly 10 card rating!! Because they are rock stars!! read more

Then had the audacity to say to her co-workers right in front of me that "she would expect people to see what they have first". My friend and I went to this Starbucks location today after school and were astounded by what happened while we were there. We have never had problems there before, which is why I gave this location a rating of the number one. However, if I were to base my rating off of what occurred today I would not give them any stars. As soon as we began to order one of the workers screamed across the store "After school special!" which we my friend and I assumed was a joke. The lady working at the cash register proved us differently. She was incredibly rude and snatched the thing I had in my hand away from me in order for her to scan it. After we ordered my friend and I stood by the counter awaiting our drinks. My friend got thirsty and asked for a water cup and the lady making the drinks said no. We thought she was kidding at first because it was so rude but it turned out she wasn't. Then she put whipped cream on a drink that was not supposed to have whipped cream on it and when I told her so she said, "Oh well." Her tone made the unacceptable reply all more astonishing. If this didn't top off my wonderful experience at Starbucks, she continued to be a snob, telling my friend that the cup said no whipped cream so she won't get any. On our way out the lady working at the cash register said in a sarcastic tone "Have a good one." and made my friend and I even more upset. I'm a pretty calm person so when people are rude I usually shake it off like it is not a big deal. However, her behavior was UNACCEPTABLE and I will be going back in there tomorrow to speak to her manager. The customer service here is appalling, and not in a good way.
