So long Taco Bell (they built a new one down the street), hello Starbucks. Just like good old Kenny Rogers Roasters, another business has come and gone in this shopping center. Not that I will miss Taco Bell like I do KRR, but the Hyde Park/Charleston Heights area in general has sure seen so many changes since I was younger. It seems Starbucks can survive most anywhere so it's got as good of a shot as previous tenants in the center. This Starbucks is located on the corner on Decatur and Charleston. I rarely have issues when ordering on the mobile app yet when doing so at this location I still ended up waiting in a crowd of people to get my drink. It seemed very unorganized (the lines) and the inside wasn't very clean. I know Starbucks gets busy which is why I love using their app to order so I can avoid the lines and waiting, but when you have to wait just the same as if you ordered inside it defeats the purpose of ordering ahead on the app. My drink was very good and I'll stop by again when I am in the area, but I hope the mobile ordering works out better because inside isn't as spacious as other locations and feels sort of cramped, so not a 'bucks I could see myself hanging out inside. read more

What has happened to this Starbucks location? It has never been my favorite , only because the very small parking area- but I still would come here because it was on the way to somewhere I go often . In the last few visits I got the distinct impression that the employees just don't care anymore . They are in no ways quick or speedy and out of a full crew , it would be highly unlikely to find a friendly face. No smiles , no friendly attitude -just scowls and zombie like reactions. So-this location shares some problems That are common to most Starbucks locations: Napkin dispensers are always empty , drinks are often not prepared as ordered , homeless encampments (just had the pleasure of watching a lady urinate right outside the front door) people coming in for WiFi and taking up space but not purchasing anything ... But at least at other trashed locations the employees remain cordial and friendly . So sad that this is the location where they seem to send all the miserable and angry employees . read more

They moved to the corner where Taco Bell used to be, and it's a great! Easy in and out, with a drive thru that the old one lacked. Same excited employees, which can be a little hard to take early in the morning. They seem to always be out of the popular pastries, but it may be the times I go. The Carmel Machiotto is GREAT wit Soy or Coconut milk! read more

This location has become my usual hangout spot. It originally was going to the one on Eastern and Bonanza because it's closer to where I live, but this one is more convenient for me because it is right by the crappy Wal-Mart I am forced to have to go to all the time. The area I live in is cool, but it sorta blows as far as location. It's centrally located, but all the sh*t I gotta do is not. That is, unless we are talking about drinking downtown at the Griffin or Commonwealth. Because in that instance, I'm golden :) But I digress. This one is nice because it is relatively chill, and the people who frequent here are not creepy. For some reason, people always bring their damn kids here, which usually would be highly irritating. But most of the kids who come here are well-behaved, so that's a plus. There is only one comfy chair here, which is a bummer, but I understand why. There's just not enough space for more big chairs or a couch. The staff here are really down to earth and not your usual snooty barista type. There's like, one chick that works here who kinda fits that description, but she doesn't work that often (yay!). read more

I really enjoy this location. Despite the area, and the amount of business that's constantly flowing through here, the staff remains polite and enthusiastic. There's never a shortage of smiles and laughter here. The cafe is always fairly clean. You can tell the store takes pride in its cleanliness. And the coffee bar stays stocked, and the trashes never overflowing. My orders are always accurate and quick. At first, I thought they took longer making mobile orders (I love the app), until I realized that they hold mobile orders behind the counter and only show them once you check in with the barista. Again, not the best neighborhood, but at least they recognize it and take precautions to protect their guests. I feel safe here. I often sit in the cafe for awhile before heading to work for the day. I can relax and read, Facebook, or whatever, and I know that the staff will handle any situation that happens to walk in quickly and quietly. I'm glad to call this location my new Starbucks. read more

Either took way to long to get through the drive through or they don't have a strawberry refresher at 10am in the morning on three separate occasions! I mean come on you don't have a strawberry refresher then I finally decide to see if they can save me as a customer and yet again very disappointing experience. My experience at this location reflects their continued commitment to this standard. This Starbucks is probably an older location as it does not have the amenities compared to the other locations, such as no drive-thru, and limited merchandise for sale. This place is frequented by the migrant wanderers that stroll the area, but they tend to keep to themselves, like most "normal" people. The seating is limited, so finding your treasured side table with accessible outlets may prove difficult at this location, but its quaint size may allow for louder background noise than expected. You might be better off studying elsewhere. Drinks are pretty standard at this location with no problems from each of my experiences; however, they'll re-make your drink correctly should issues arrive. But, this is standard at any Starbucks location. read more

This is possibly one of the dumbest things I've seen from a coffee shop to date. No signs at the doors that they've decided to open at 10am all week. Google also has their hours as their regular hours. I had to call to find out they weren't opening until 10am. Come back at 10:30am and drive through is back to back. The store still isn't open for walk ins. The parking lot is blocked by the drive through people so I'm now stuck in my car. read more

I have been a regular here for quite some time. I am not sure I would go here or seek it out if it wasn't for the convenience of the location. The parking lot is very tricky to maneuver and other cars don't seem to make way. If the lot is full, which is typical, the larger part of the strip mall is fenced off. Also, if there is a back up in the drive-thru then the parking is even harder to use. I won't lie, there have been a couple snafoos with mobile orders and other issues. But the reason for the 4/5 stars here is because of my interactions with Roselyn. For a while now, she has made me feel welcomed at this Starbucks greeting with a friendly and energetic hello. She pays attention to customers who might be waiting for a mobile order or check on you. I feel like service has improved here especially with some of the familiar faces I have seen. Customer service here is relatively good considering the local area. Recently, Roselyn took extra time to help me with an order and was very reliable and friendly. I wanted to acknowledge her taking the extra time to provide great customer service and would love to see this location continue to get better read more

This Starbucks is awesome. I always come here on the way to work. The staff is friendly and I like that they are starting to remember who I am. I order the same thing mostly every other day and I think they're getting used to my usual. Triple espresso over ice, 3 pumps of white mocha, and soy in a venti cup! My usual fix to get the day started before the long exhausting 8 hour day ahead. Theres more than enough room in this Starbucks to chill in. It's a shame this one isn't by my house. None of the baristas wear gloves here, most disgusting thing ever. Then while we were ordering, the barista on the intercom was very rude and had a very nasty attitude about what we asked for. On top of that, when we received our coffee and when we asked which was which she just stared at us, when we asked again she said "you know you can pull the piece down and read it", your job is to literally tell us which coffee is which. We then asked for napkins and she gave us two crumpled up ones and shaved them in my MIL hands. I had also asked for salted caramel cold foam on my pumpkin spice and received just foam, literal foam.
