I went to Target's CVS store at 5680 Balboa Avenue to buy some pills. Unfortunately, there was a lunch break. While I was waiting, I decided to grab a cup of my favorite coffee, a macchiato, at Starbucks. Unfortunately, the coffee was terrible. I've never had a more disgusting cup of coffee in my life! It wasn't even coffee, but rather cardboard-flavored water with a small amount of syrup. It was absolutely disgusting! I told the salesperson and threw away my cup (I won't call it coffee). read more

There were only 2 people working and a bit of a line had formed suddenly. I'd had thought they had a good rhythm going-- until I noticed as I was waiting that after they finished making one coffee it was sitting on the counter for a few minutes before ever being brought to the bar and calling out the name. Poor person that drink went to, it was already turning watery. It was now my turn to order, the guy wasn't very friendly and I felt rushed during my order. Therefore instead of asking if they had toffee nut available, using my stars to order a new drink--I just resulted back to an easy drink. Iced vanilla latte. I was going to hand him my card (gold Starbucks card) but he told me to swipe it. I did and it told me to enter a pin, I gave him a wth face and gave it to him. He didn't say sorry (I was a bit embarrassed because I was holding up the line at that point) and he manually typed my card number in. I waited by the tables afterwards which were a tad dirty with past crumbs and sticky marks. I remember coming here in the past with my dad and the workers had brighter expressions and the entire ambiance and interior of the place felt more lively and friendly. My iced vanilla latte was 98% milk, 1% ice and 1% espresso. It was milky beyond words. I could have went to 85 Degrees and got a better iced coffee than what I received. What a steal... I wanted to go and ask them to remake it but the line was too long for me to mention. read more

Convenient location inside Target, but nothing special about this Starbucks. The line was manageable, barista was friendly, and drink was made correctly. It's a good spot to grab a quick coffee while shopping, but don't expect a cozy atmosphere or anything above standard Starbucks fare. Gets the job done, but doesn't exceed expectations. read more

Today was the worst experience I've had at this location. I ordered a "Grande Dragon Drink with sweet cream cold foam" I received a mango dragonfruit refresher (which I just accepted cuz I'm not usually one to complain) but I didn't get the cold foam, which I did say something about because I have to pay extra for that. when I asked, the Asian girl that works there, was super rude. She slammed my drink down when she was finished and when I said thank you, she responded with "mhm" with her back turned to me. I still have the wrong drink order that I PAID for and was still polite. Customer service sucked hard today. You never know what people are going through. Yesterday was a hard day for my family. I wasn't sure what I wanted and was standing around looking at the menu when the barista, Mady, asked me what I normally get. I told her either white mocha or caramel macchiato mostly and she suggested her favorite drink, a white mocha with blonde shots, toffee nut and caramel drizzle. SOLD. I'm obsessed this drink is SO GOOD. I've never had a barista ask me what I get or offer me options before so this was so helpful and amazing! I appreciate you more than you know Mady!! This is a Starbucks located in Target. For a target Starbucks, they have a decent amount Of seating! Also, they have breakfast sandwich options which is impressive. Many Starbucks within other stores only serve pastries. I came here for a late afternoon beverage and to load gift cards to my phone app (hey, it's right after Christmas!) I asked the cashier if I could load my gift cards to my card there (often at in-store locations like target and Vons they aren't able to do this). Miranda (I am not sure if I am getting her exactly right..) was SO accommodating and even took the time to show me on my phone how to add my gift card..I felt like this was the epitome of customer service at its best!! Thank you!! After adding my card to my phone app, I ordered a tall iced coffee with light ice and no sweetener. It came out perfectly and quickly. I don't frequent this Starbucks, but I think Miranda deserves a big shout out for customer service. It made my day! read more

I've been to this Target Starbucks quite a few times and I can honestly say their service is quite good! Considering there are usually 2 people working, the service is always pleasant and quick. The workers are all nice and efficient, despite the stress from the small amount of workers compared to other stores. My drinks are also always top notch. This is a Starbucks located inside a Target store. Does this Target Starbucks hire baristas? Or are they just Target employees who are rotated as needed? Who knows, don't care anymore. I always enjoy Starbucks, but this one? No. This Starbucks is located in the Target on Balboa Avenue. They don't know how to make iced coffee? Ohhhh, noooo! The college kid was rude and condescending to me. I think he didn't want to bother making the "blonde" coffee I ordered, and there were no other customers in there! What I received was the most bitter, bottom of the barrel coffee I've ever had in my entire life. It was supposed to be a pour over, but no surprise. I literally gagged enough for people to look. Lol. The second drink we ordered was a latte that was not supposed to have coffee in it, and it did have coffee in it. Wtf No big deal. I asked for my money back and got it. I was shocked at the service I received here during my second visit. My first visit was great and they made me my hazelnut drink, like I always order. I came in here a week ago and tried ordering my same drink and the barista gave me such attitude and said they don't service hazelnut anymore. Okay, so I ordered my go to vanilla drink and again, with a horrible attitude she stated they got rid of vanilla as well. WHAT?!?! If that's the case, Starbucks will lose me as a customer forever. Anyways, back to this specific location. I finally found something to order and the barista walked away after I paid- no thank you or anything. When my drink was ready, she didn't even call my name or anything to let me know my drink was ready. While she was working, I saw three other baristas just talking there and laughing. They actually sell (limited) sandwiches here! As with most Starbucks attached to Target - you can use your rewards cards to accrue stars but you can't use the deals that you earn from the cards here. I know, confusing. The practical: - coffee is like it is everywhere else, fast service. - nice seating area, generally pretty empty but during lunch time some people eat very pungent Cheese Pizza purchased from next door, no real complaints though - do share a slice! :P - basically, the seating area is more of a cafeteria setting so don't expect staff to be cleaning up the tables, because based on my time camped out here...they don't, which can be gross at times. - free wifi - oh and most importantly, there are four sets of outlets with USB connectors! Went to this Starbucks on balboa for the first time and I was so disappointed in the customer service of the barista who made my drink. Everyone from the person who took my order to the person who told be the code for the restroom was so polite and professional. All except the last person I came in contact with...She gave me my drink and didn't even acknowledge me at all! I said thank you politely and she just kept on doing what she was doing. Then the next guy comes up for his drink and she says to him "Thank you Zack and and have a nice day". All of that and with a smile!!! But I got nothing! Ps. The drink was good though! read more

Great facility here. The floor plan is very open and less cramped than a normal Starbucks. The interior lighting creates a soothing atmosphere at night. They're located next to Walgreens. read more

Extremely disappointed in my visit here. I'm a former Starbucks partner and pregnant so when I ordered a DECAF soy misto, then was given a fully caffeinated soy misto, I was a little confused. When I said I ordered a decaf they told me they don't brew decaf. That's so unheard of. What do you do for any other decaf customers and why wouldn't you be upfront when I ordered it? I specifically started my order with "Decaf" so there shouldn't have been any confusion. Additionally, when I requested a refund, they couldn't do it and simply offered me a recovery coupon. That should have been offered regardless but they were unable to give me my money back. I can't believe how terrible the customer service/communication was and would absolutely never recommend this Starbucks. read more

There are 3 Starbucks in the vicinity with similar addresses: inside Vons (on south side of Balboa), inside Target (on north side of Balboa) and a standalone store on the NE corner of Balboa & Genesee. This location is inside Target next to the entrance in front of the registers and a Pizza Hut Express. Plenty of seating: simple red Target tables & chairs. Might not be the fastest experience if only 1 person is working the register and making coffee, but it was good. :-) read more
