This Starbucks location can be found inside the Safeway store @ Countrywood. It's small but if all you need is your daily shot of caffeine, they will be more than happy to oblige. Just don't expect to find a large selection of pastries, etc. Then again, you're inside of Safeway, so you can go grab half a dozen donuts from the bakery for the price of one of their cookies... This is one of my favorite Starbucks to go to. The drinks and service are typical Starbucks quality, but the store looks really cool on the outside, kind of like a gazebo. The store is on a wooden deck on top of a mini pond. There are lounge chairs and tables outside for people to relax and chat on nice days. Inside, there is very little seating. There's even a wooden bridge you can walk across. Cons: no bathrooms, which isn't really a problem since Safeway and CVS are next door not a good place to study or do work on your computer, but definitely the most relaxing Starbucks I've visited. read more

I used to work at Peet's and had a massive dislike for Starbucks...I used to never want to step foot in one. Now, years later, I only have a minor dislike for them. Their coffee is far from good, but it's good enough to drink in large gulps because it is weaker. I do enjoy asking for items there using modifiers like "small" or "your smallest" because I kind of like being oblivious to their ridiculous sizing system. As Starbucks goes, I generally rate them for service. This location gets nice marks because of its patio area with a pond and fountains around it. If you can get there before the stay at home moms and housewives show up, you will enjoy relaxing with your coffee. The coffee is Starbucks. I'm fine with it. I only order a Soy Latte, and I have found the the best ones are from Starbucks. So I like my drink. The service here sucks! Why? Because the people that work here are fake. They seemed forced to be nice. Now I understand that they have to deal with the typical Walnut Creek snobs and that can be tough, but I've worked for Starbucks and I now the difference between being genuine and genuinely fake. EXAMPLE: I went there yesterday and the girl who took my order grabbed a venti clear cup (for a frapp) and asked me if I wanted my "usual coffee frapp with a floater". I've never ordered a frapp and have no idea what a "floater" is. When I told her my drink was a Grande Soy Latte, her eyes turned white and she went back to being a robot, askin me for my name to write on the cup. Off to the barista, who this day was the manager, Donna. As she prepared a drink ahead of mine, she gave it to the customer, being sure to read her name from the cup and treat her like a family member. Then she got to me. Called my name (after reading it), and then gave the drink to me. She then said, "Have a nice day....Jerry." After two years of going to this store, and many, many times being served by her, Donna still had no clue what my name or drink was, and still acted like she had known me for most of her life. I can't stand that kind of fakeness. Yet, I know Donna's name and that she is the manager. Seems that I pay more attention than the manager of this Starbucks. The service here is often VERY slow and the store is tiny. I highly recommend you skip this Starbucks and walk next door to the Safeway store that also has a Starbucks. They are much more friendly and never have a long wait. I prefer them over this Starbucks any day of the week. read more

As others have said, this store has a great vibe. Cool outdoor layout, lots of areas to hang out at, chat with friends, or work on your laptop. Wi-fi travels far, but I want to specifically commend the manager and baristas. I saw an interaction with a troubled customer who was trying to stir up some conflict, but everyone kept their cool. The place was packed, and the manager continued fulfilling orders while calmly responding to his loaded questions. She stayed positive and professional the entire time. I came in for my standard double macchiato, a doppio mach in *$ parlance. It was actually delicious! I came over from Berkeley, where one finds a plethora of cafes, the majority of them quite bad (to tell the truth). Here the beans are fresh and the barristas go to Starbucks School. This may not be the best coffee in the world, and it probably wasn't Fair Trade organic, but the beans didn't sit around forever in a plexiglass bin and the people who handle them know what they're doing. As other Yelpers have reported, it's quirky that there's no indoor seating. Unlike those who wanted to be warmed up indoors, I was hoping for 15 minutes of air conditioning on a hot day. I sat outside with my drink "for here". There was considerable confusion about what that might mean. The barrista showed me a latte glass ("too big") and a tiny demitasse cup ("not quite large enough, in all probability") before we hit on the inspired solution of using the sort of cup that might be appropriate for a large cappucino. Said cup didn't come with a saucer, but I remembered to ask for a spoon. After we went through that whole litany, I decided to ask for a glass of water "to go." No confusion there: I got a tall plastic cup with a lid. read more

My drink isn't very complicated, it's coffee LOL but it's always nice to see the young people taking pride in their work and apparently trained by good management. I'd give a five star for service: the crew tends to know what they are doing and works fairly quickly. But only four stars for design: While I do like the outdoor seating (a great place to grade papers in the spring), the indoor layout is, as others have mentioned, horrible in terms of lines intermingling. My favorite thing about Starbucks (evil corporate empire just like Peets) is that if you buy a Starbucks card, you don't get charged for soy milk (it rings up as $0.40 extra, but then that gets taken off when you pay with the card). As a soy drinker, I find it quite annoying that cafes charge anywhere from $0.25 to $0.50 for soy milk, when the incremental price increase of soy over regular cow milk is no where near that much (remember, it's not how much the soy milk costs, it's the additional amount they should be charging for). So, I say three cheers for Starbucks for removing this surcharge. Also, with the Starbucks card you get free Wifi (so I checked the box that the wifi is paid, but this is one method to get it free). The only problem with using the card, however, is that I get no change to tip the staff with. I try to remember to give a big tip when I re-charge my card. read more

Nice Deck and Pond (yes pond!) with running water and Live ducks. Real live honest to god Mallards! This is simply the nicest, most relaxing Fartsucks environment I have ever been to. Staff: 5 stars. Energetic and Friendly and informative. I just wanted a post meal decaf and they informed they now brew to order for decaf which saves resources. Well...it's a small Starbucks in a really cool spot surrounded by a large water feature. The outdoor seating is really cool and the staff is always pleasant (I'm learning "pleasantness" isn't a California virtue). I recommend this to everyone. If it's cold outside, go somewhere else. I'm not one to write a bad review, but I feel my experience here warranted at least a little rant via yelp. Being a former Starbucks partner, I am very understanding of the daily trials and tribulations, however you learn to suck it up and smile. I will start off by saying that the location is gorgeous! I am currently sitting on the veranda listening to the soothing sounds of various water features surrounding me. It is a beautiful February day and apart from the customer service I just received, I have not much to complain about. That being said, I walked up to the counter and was sadly not greeted with the usual warm hello that Starbucks is known for, instead it was dead silence until I ordered my most simplest form of a beverage, again being a previous employer I like to keep things simple. I asked for my Venti unsweetened green tea lemonade, paid and escorted myself to the pickup counter. I happen to make eye contact with the barista who appeared to be stocking in the lull after the afternoon coffee rush. After acknowledging my presence with just a quick smile she glared at the young lady that I had the pleasure of meeting at the register. I could identify some tension amongst the employees and understood those moments all too well. The young lady, whom I did not catch by name, but merely her tattoo outlined arm that read 'wisely' made my drink (not up to SB standards, I did not here any shaking with my shaken ice tea lemonade beverage) literally threw the lid on, placed it on the counter and left in a flash. My drink sat on the counter unbeknownst to me in a puddle of its own fluids until I gathered it was mine, being the only one left waiting. I dripped it all the way over to the soiled milk/ sugar cart and tried to clean it off enough to leave with my dignity still attached rather than a mess all over the front of me. Needless to say I am glad that this location is not anywhere near my humble abode. read more

This is my favorite Starbucks location. Gabe, Erika, Jacob, James and the rest of the crew do a great job and go the extra mile to get your order right and fast. On top of that, the location is the best. This Starbucks is nestled in the middle of a man-made creek with wooden decks and two fountains. I like to go to the Bancroft Starbucks and get my latte and just hang out and listen to the fountains. Perfect. read more

By far the best Starbucks in the East Bay with waterfalls on the fountains and outdoor seating for over 100 in the courtyard area make this a relaxing and nice place to sit and read and relax. The Countrywood shopping center pretty much has everything you would need as well. read more

WOW this is one interesting Starbucks!!!!! I never been here before until today. It is in a small shopping center but STARBUCKS is like the center, it has a huge deck, below is a ponds with ducks! And it is just gorgeous for outside seating- summer or winter. I ordered my mocha and sat outside and listened to the water- it was so relaxing. Only thing about this starbucks is that there is no seating inside and no restroom. But, hey there's a Safeway in the plaza to use the restroom and hey they have heating lamps, so I still like this Starbucks lots! read more

In a Bay Area of a Starbucks on every corner, this is a breath of fresh air. This Starbucks is a wooden structure (unfortunately with no indoor seating) surrounded by a wooden deck which sits above a small lake where ducks swim. Water is cycled in the "lake" to make sure nothing gets too stagnant and water flows over rocks which make tiny waterfalls. The seating area is warmed by heat lamps. Makes for a nice (sub)urban oasis if only the deck did not overlook the strip mall parking lot. Too bad, guess you can't have everything. read more
