We had a fantastic time at Starlite last night at the bar. I went with my sister and a friend and everything was just right. Shared laughs and conversation with the kind and cool manager, had great time with the attentive staff, and the yummy cocktail were divine. The food and service were excellent the last time we went on November 14th. We really like the waitress that we had on that day and other times. However, we keep trying to give them another chance but as Marylanders with stricter COVID mandates we are concerned about eating there. They sat us in the diner part and kept trying to seat people in the booth behind us. Some asked to be given another seat but I had to ask not to seat anyone there also. We went about a month ago, were seated in the dining room in a booth right behind another booth with an occupant who kept coughing; I asked to be moved. I noticed that none of the booths or tables had been closed off for social distancing like they had been previously and although wait staff had on masks, others who worked there didn't and kept going past our booth. The waitress said the the owner told her that they were in the Green Zone so they didn't need to follow any guidelines. Although I want to support small businesses and I like their food, prices and service, our health is more important. Not sure we'll go back. read more

Food was average. But tasty. Family friendly. Macaroni salad and carrot salad was good. Corn chowder soup was hot hearty and delicious. Chicken noodle was tasty. Lobsters bisque was ok. My husband and I go to Starlight about 3 or 4 times a month. There are a few waitresses that are so-so, but for the most part the staff is very nice and very attentive, including management. Their food is typical diner food, but they do have the best chipped beef in Hanover and a more extensive menu than most places. Prices are awesome and we can usually eat for about $17.00. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area! read more

I was here when it first opened and will never return . My 6 year old got metal scrubbie in her spaghetti. Brought it to our waiter and our hosts attention . Nothing was done not even a offer of something else they took the plate and left . The jerks charged me for her two bite dinner and like I said did nothing . I paid and filed a charge back on my credit card and we left and went to sheetz to get something for her . This place is a dump not for the food but for the piss poor staff . I tell everyone about this place and repeat never ever will step foot in there ever again . Things happen so I can possibly understand the scrubbie in the food . To some point . I went here craving a nice hot crock of French onion soup. What I got was a very hot crock of onion flavored water. The buffalo chicken wrap tasted good, but was too small and had very little chicken in it. The service was decent enough and the place seemed clean, but I probably won't go back. read more

On the positive the wait staff are kind and attentive. My issue is with their training ( and the attitude of the owner) in regard to food allergies. My experience asking if items was gluten free was not good. Even after saying that I could not eat gluten, I was served an item that had flour on it. The owner's response was appalling. He said "How could I know if an item had flour in it. I would have to read the label on the box to know this". What an ill informed response from someone in the food industry. Reading the labels is exactly what he should do. It is HIS JOB as the owner to know this and to train his staff about food allergies. I don't expect special items to be made for me, but I do expect to be told if an item is safe or not. read more

Went here once when it first opened and was very unimpressed. But I have been back here three times over the last 5 months and it has gotten much better. I would say the food is pretty good, a hearty home-cooked style meal typical of a diner, portion size is also good for someone that like to eat. My one and only complaint about this place it the arrangement at the front door. The same person that seats you also handles the check so if the place is busy the front door area can be a mess of people both trying to get a seat and pay so they can leave, which is a real nuisance. read more

I decided to go to starlight diner after I heard about it from my friends the best steak I have got in so long. I totally recommend it for steaks I can't believe I got 12 oz prim rib with salad and french fries, my wife had sirloin steak and 3 sides and my bill wasn't even 30$ yet. I can say it was a great experience to be there, our server was so funny and friendly. The general atmosphere was incredible. My wife made friends with the server, how friendly is that? Even the guy was siting next table was having a good time and pleased with the food. I also has to give credits to the cleaning staff how they manage to have always clean, bathroom are always clean. Some times you go to restaurants and you find trash under the tables but in starlight was spotless. read more

They have an extensive menu that's got just about anything you can think of. May not be the fanciest place ever, but it's cheap & usually quick. I'm a huge fan of their spinach pie. Usually the staff is pretty friendly but we've had 1 or 2 not so much. It's a decent place overall. read more

To start, the atmosphere was much nicer on the inside then the outside would have you believe. My wife an I were seated and with in a few moments a pleasant waitress came over to greet us. She took our drink orders and left. When she came back my wife asked if the had real maple syrup available. Her answer was " it comes in a bottle." well that changes everything. Did she think we wanted her to tap a tree for syrup and bring it to us right there on the spot? No shit it comes in a bottle. My wife ordered per usual some plate she couldn't finish. Eggs, pancakes, hash browns and bacon. That was ok, nothing special. I ordered a Belgian waffle with strawberries. DO NOT GO BY THE PICTURES!!!!! As my wife later pointed out to me the pictures are merely suggestions of how the product will look. You know like McDonalds. Now I wasn't expecting fresh picked berries from that morning. I expected a strawberry with some syrup mixture. What I got was a waffle layered in a gelatinous mass of red goo that drowned out any taste of waffle and replaced it with a processed diabetic coma. It was terrible. I scraped as much off as possible and yet there still was probably two cups worth hanging on. I must have scraped off a bowl and a half of that shit. Again terrible. Cant say enough dont get the waffle with fruit. Overall place was nice, clean looking. The staff was while dense, very nice. Food kinda sucked but was relatively cheap. read more

Waitress only came by to offer desert, had to hunt for the waitress just so I could pay my check, and it wasn't even busy, I even had two waitress for my table and it was just my wife and I. Went here today with my mom and kids. The food wasn't great overall but the truly upsetting thing was watching an employee leave the bathroom stall and walk right out the door and back to work! We were very disturbed by this as we had all just eaten our meal here and brought it to the attention of the manager on duty, expecting him to take it very seriously as this can cause illnesses! He seemed completely nonchalant about it and gestured with his hand to the wall by the bathroom and said "well we have signs that say employees need to wash their hands." Completely missed the point and did not take the complaint seriously at all. My mom then mentioned to the girl directly that she really needed to wash her hands after leaving the bathroom to work with food and the girl rolled her eyes at my mom, huffed loudly at her and then refused to make eye contact. 4 generations of our family has loved this place since it opened. Awesome food and great prices! The atmosphere is much nicer than a typical Diner, but the prices and food quality and selection are great. My mother in law raved about the senior menu, my 7 yo loves the children's menu and the rest of us have enjoyed breakfast omelettes, pancakes, home fries, salads, sandwiches, stir-fries, juicy, thick hamburgers, and other great food. The cheesecakes and pastries are good, but not made on site. If you're in Hanover, this is the place to relax and eat! read more

I had very high expectations of this place since it has such great reviews. The restaurant itself is very quaint and cute; I really liked the atmosphere. However, the food was very mediocre. From the appetizer (Cheese plate), to our entrees (Shrimp and Grits, and the Chef's Special) the food was very bland and unimpressive. At $100 a check for 2 people I expected MUCH MUCH better food. Will not visit again. Service was extremely slow and unattentive as well. The two hairs found in the bread and one of the entrees was also a big turnoff. My husband and I finally decided to try the Starlight Diner last night. When they first opened up, we had heard some conflicting reports. Lately, however, we had been hearing more good things so this seemed as good a time as any. The restaurant was lovely inside. They were nicely decorated for the holidays. It is a nice spacious restaurant. The hostess and our waitress were very prompt. We took a while to decide because the menu is rather large. I got the chicken santorini and my husband got the chopped grilled sirloin. I really enjoyed my chicken. It had a good flavor and it was a nice sized portion. I also liked that you could get it with rice instead of pasta. My husband was a little less impressed with his chopped sirloin, but I tried it and liked it. It was a good portion with gravy and fried onions, but I think it was a little too done for his taste. The service was very good. I didn't even have to ask for a drink refill and it was suddenly sitting there. The only complaint I had was that they ran out of the vegetable of day that we ordered and the kitchen sent out the other special - which I don't like. Those promptly went back - but our waitress got us replacements, so it was all good. The prices are quite reasonable. Our bill was just over $25 - but I also got dessert. (peanut butter pie - yum!) I see us going back on a weekend very soon to try breakfast. read more

My wife and I ate here for dinner on a Sunday. I ordered a Chicken Salad melt and my wife ordered the meatloaf. My sandwich had a horrible taste, like rotten milk, and certainly did not taste like chicken in any way. My wife's meatloaf did not taste like meatloaf, either. I went to eat there a little while ago with a friend of mine for early dinner. The staff was fine and the inside as well. The food was a different story. My friend got fries and chicken strips with veggies. The chicken was very bland and tasted like frozen ones from out of the box. The same thing with the veggies, because they just turned to mush.
