After walking along stare for an hour we came across State & Fig. Tucked away in a Cute alley way it's hard to find this hidden gem. But so worth it once you do. I wish they had a sign pointing to the restaurant. But maybe that's why it was so easy to get a table! This was such a delicious meal we had. The food was fast and delicious! Parking: we parking at the mall and we're walking all around, but from what it seemed there wasn't a parking lot or anything? Service: amazing service! Friendly service and amazing recommendations. The waiter was constantly refilling our water and checking to see how we liked the food. My first time here but won't be my last! This place was really cool I stopped here for brunch and I never really been to any kind of brunch before lol but my girl insisted we do it..so they're 5 dollar mimosas were great the ratio of champagne to juice was perfect, the areas really nice I liked the old building feel even though we sat outside...I got the breakfast burrito with side salad n everything tasted bomb asf. One thing I also have noticed about food in SB is the portions are huge no matter where you go and this spot delivers on that too. Waited for the host to come up to us, only to say there are "no available tables that can hold 5 of us outside". There were many tables outside open, one of which had 8 seats. A MUST if you come to Santa Barbara. It has the perfect brunch set up with outdoor seating, which I prefer over the cold and a little dreary indoor seating. The food is what truly sets State & Fig high on my list of favorite brunch places. The State Burger is a must. I've had a lot of burgers in Santa Barbara (yikes) but this one of my favorites. The basil aioli, perfectly cooked patty, and soft buttery bun just combines together so well! We also got the "figg'in toast" strong fig flavor and a unique dish for any sweet tooth. I'm glad my friend and I decided to split because I wouldn't have been able to enjoy the french toast as my only entry. Just note that they can get very busy and the wait can get to be 40 minutes depending on your luck. The only downside is that they're only wine and beer- meaning I didn't get my Bloody Mary- but overall one of the best brunch places in SB. read more

I found this cute hidden spot through Yelp and am so glad I did! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful Santa Barbara sunshine. We ordered their fig cream cheese french toast, the pesto mushroom omelette, fried chicken and biscuits, and the chilaquiles. Every food item that we ordered was delicious and huge portions! The fig cream cheese french toast was amazing. I would recommend sharing it because it is so sweet and rich in flavor and a few bites is plenty. All of the food came out hot and fresh. State & Fig is a hidden gem with the cutest little outdoor patio. I came here with some girlfriends for big birthday brunch. There was a big group of 11 of us. They were accommodating and put tables together so that we could sit in the outdoor patio area. We were a little bummed that we did not get to order everything from the original menu, as they let us know that our menu would be different because we were such a big party. A few things were not available to order. I ended up opting for lunch and got the burger which was a great choice. A big reason why we came here is we wanted endless mimosas. My friends and I had a bachelorette weekend ahead of us and the bride requested state & fig. I called in advance to make a reservation as we were a party of 8 but was told they do not take any reservations. The day of, I thought to call on our way to put our name down on the waiting list and was informed they cant do that but instead suggested I make a reservation, as it was a large party. I was extremely frustrated because they had just told me a few days before that they do not take reservations. I explained the situation and they quickly accommodated us. My other two friends ordered the BBQ burger and another I couldn't remember the name (sorry!) but they said it was so so. Parking: there's a structure right behind and it's free 75 mins. Getting seated was a bit of an awkward experience because the host wasn't very assertive. Our server also didn't seem totally comfortable with what he was doing. He brought our salad out and one of the plates was dirty, so I had him take it back and put it on a fresh plate. Then, I ordered a burger, The Candy Apple. We ordered all of our food at the same time, but due to "some mixup in the kitchen" my burger arrived almost 30 minutes later than the rest of our food. (Remember when we arrived we were the only ones there and the first to place out order.) Now when we were done and our check was brought to us our server did thoroughly apologize which was greatly appreciated. Brunch here is so cute and so yummy. They also offer bottomless mimosas!! $15 (also have pomegranate for an extra charge). My friend ordered the fried chicken and biscuits which were delicious. It wasn't as doused in the white sauce as I've seen in other places and the chicken didn't taste so greasy as I've had before as well. The biscuit is delicious, too. I ordered the pork belly hash with poached eggs, butternut squash, potatoes, fruit, and rye bread (came with jam, butter, and ketchup). Everything was so good and fairly well priced for a brunch place on State. Another thing I like about this cafe is how it's not directly on state street, it's in La Arcada and sort of in this alleyway away from the business of the street. Thus, I feel like this offers a quaint, intimate, and peaceful brunch experience yet it's very inviting and something I definitely want to bring my girlfriends to for bottomless mimosas! Indoor and outdoor seating is both cute. We chose to sit outdoors because the weather was so nice. My only complaint was our waitress... She was very pushy into having us get alcoholic drinks and doing bottomless mimosas. And after we decided to order one drink (my friend the pomegranate mimosa and the blueberry mojito for me), she kept trying to convince us to order another. I doubt the other people who work there are like her, she said she hadn't been working there for more than 6 weeks and it seemed like everyone else was very friendly. The blueberry mojito was extremely sweet in my opinion, wouldn't order it again. Combining the sweetness of the blueberry mojito with the sweet jam and the fattening pork belly was too much for me. Solid 4.5 stars. If your in search of a great cheese burger you have to add this place to your list! The bun soft and on point- the burger was about as juicy as you can get- the avocado and arugula and tomato all fresh and bringing it all together. The only thing I would change is the cheese/ the cheese game was def on point however I would have preferred a sharp chedder or something that packs a punch vs the subtlety that mozzarella has. Came here on an early Thursday afternoon for my birthday lunch. The area this is situated in is so cute - definitely sit outside! We ordered the Fig Burger and Fried Chicken Sandwich - both were absolutely amazing. So much flavor and every bite was delicious. On our way up to a concert at the Arlington we decided to stop by for a quick bite. Appropriately named due to proximity, State & Fig is tucked away just off of the busy main road of State Street. It seemed a bit slow for a Friday night but maybe we were there early. The beer selection was somewhat limited but the wine list seemed more extensive. However we were there for the food. I was pretty hungry so I went with the Fig Burger. This signature burger sure did deliver on flavor and taste. The bacon and bleu cheese complimented the fig jam to perfection. Although its not the cheapest burger I've had it was worth every penny and at least fries were included. The lady enjoyed a special meatball plate with a seasonal salad. Both dishes were a perfect satisfying meal that didn't weigh us down for the show. Service for us was prompt and helpful. The meal was delicious. I'm sure we will be back. read more

But they waited to bring our drinks out until the food came which I just found strange. I wouldn't have minded carrying them back to the table if it would have helped speed it up. This small restaurant in the art gallery alley ways off state has a fairly small inside dining area as well as a patio. It gets crowded during lunch so be sure to head over before the rush hour. Lovely little patio restaurant tucked in the La Arcada Plaza between STATE Street and FIGUEROA Street. We went for brunch, got to sit outside on a nicely overcast day (so, not too hot) and both enjoyed their Kali Club sandwich, although we got it fixed differently. I don't eat bacon, so mine came without it. My husband eats bacon, but he hates avocado, so his didn't have the avocado. The sandwich also had arugula lettuce, tomatoes, and basil aioli all on toasted sourdough bread. It was tasty, but it wasn't anything phenomenal. We also ordered mac and cheese, which was made with fontina, provolone, and Parmesan cheeses, and cavatappi pasta with toasted breadcrumbs on the top. That was very tasty and rich, but again, it wasn't a standout recipe, either. I think if we ever return here, we'd get something different. I'd give this 3.5 stars, but as we all know, they don't award by 1/2 stars on Yelp. read more

This restaurant has a lovely setting with both indoor and outdoor seatings. The service, however, sucks. We came in on a Thursday afternoon and the restaurant was fairly empty. No one greeted us so we had to walk up to the counter. The girl didn't even look up at us, had her eyes on the register, and told us to sit anywhere. A few minutes later a waitress asked if we got menus and quickly threw them at us. I ordered garlic fries and a Caesar's salad. It was good but then again, how can these 2 go wrong? My friend ordered clam chowder and said it was good, but not memorable. Another friend ordered a panini and he seems to like it.
