The food here is soooo yummy at a great price! The meat is fresh, the sides are great. Service is great and very fast. All the employees are very polite and welcoming. They change the grills constantly so your food won't burn. It's a small spot but very chill compared to the other spots here in the area. We came on a Friday night and got seated right away. No wait for party of 4 at 10 pm Monday night. They bring you a big bowl of salad and a bunch of other banchans which I was really happy with. The meat came out quickly enough, and the amount of bulgogi we got was pretty surprising. The ambiance is pretty laid back, the music is a bit loud but we were sitting right under the speaker. The service was good. Would say parking is a little difficult to find but most street parking seems to be free after a certain time. Overall would recommend to someone visiting LA/Koreatown! We came here on Sunday because it was one of the few Korean BBQ places where we could immediately be seated. The quality of the meat was not bad. We did the all-you-can-eat set A, which was priced at $28 per person. The service started off pretty decent but then went a little south when it became very busy and it became difficult to get the attention of the staff. The staff looked stressed. I thought they should have hired more people to help. The ambiance was okay. We got a free bottle of soju with the review. Also, important thing to note: there's a service charge added regardless of the amount of people at your table. Overall, it was an average Korean BBQ restaurant to me. I do not recommend coming here. The customer service was not that great. Our waiter was not attentive and did not offer us more sides or water. They also added the tip to the bill even though it says on the menu that they only do that to parties of 5 or more. We were only two people. The food was okay (DO NOT GET THE BRISKET) I got a really bad stomach ache later on that night but my bf was okay. There are a lot more options in ktown with better food quality and customer service. It takes a lot for me to be upset at service. Please note, I'm asian and grew up with a family restaurant business . Service is not known to be our best quality. With that being said, let me start by saying this place is BEYOND asian service. I've visited now pretty much all AYCE kbbq places in koreatown. The nazi like rules at this place felt like i was stealing food from their starving family. You aren't allowed to order more meat until all your meat is cooked and eaten. Maybe you want to change up your palate between pork belly by ordering more short rib? Nope! Eat all your food first, and then maybe they'll get you more. (if you can flag them down) Uneaten rice? There is a 2 dollar charge. Be careful if you want 1 bowl of rice. You didn't finish it? No problem! They'll tack on 2 dollars to your bill :) Anything you need, you will have to flag someone down. Need the grill changed? Gotta ask. Need Water? Yes sirr....you gotta ask. It sat empty the entire time. (See pic) I'm upset at this point. Normally, I dont drink soda, but I wanted to use the free soda checkin on Yelp (promoted by the resturant) because the older korean manager was really rubbing me the wrong way with issues at ever turn. Guess what? "Oh...no we dont do that anymore" When the bill came, it all made sense. They tacked an automatic "after midnight" gratuity for 18%. This is now illegal in california, by the way. What's the need to provide any sort of service when you think you're gonna get an 18% tip regardless! Honestly, genuis on paper. In reality, terrible if you want repeat business. After a loud back and forth, the illegal tacked on cost was removed. I still left a decent tip as the bus boy was absolutely wonderful. In the end, it's purely principal. (Also this place has the tiniest cash only sign, and they make a huge deal if you don't notice it) Turns out we not only didn't get our free bottle of soju, but we were charged for TWO bottles that we didn't order. This place 100% takes advantage of you if you are drunk, please be sure to read the fine print everywhere. Outside they advertise $22 all you can eat, and when you sit down it is $27.20 a person. Unfortunately, our experience wasn't the best. No one checked on our table, and when we tried to call someone over, we were either ignored or forgotten about. At one point, I approached who I believe was the owner to ask for help, but she walked right past us without acknowledging our request. When our meats finally arrived, they were the wrong ones.To make matters worse, there was a loud argument happening in the restaurant that was disrupting the atmosphere. DO NOT EAT HERE. Ate here with 3 friends, and they charged us the 18% service charge if you eat with 5 or more people. If I hadn't checked the bill, nobody would've caught it. My friend, who was paying, confronted the hostess about it, but she apparently made up an excuse about how it was late at night (it was around 10ish pm and they were open until 4am) my friend didn't want to make a big deal out of it so he just let it be. However, I think if they are doing this to us, then (as a practice) that probably means they are overcharging other groups also. If we didn't catch the overcharge, we would've tipped anyway, but the 18% fee wasn't part of the deal when we decided to eat here, as we were only 4 people (I read the very tiny disclaimers on the menu before ordering and knew that there would be fees for 5 people or more as well as other moves, like ordering more banchan). I would have had no complaints if we were 5 people. I feel betrayed and feel like the upper management are awful people who prey on their customers that come here for a good time and are not as thorough in checking the bill. i think it's pretty cool how they're open very late, as finding places to eat late at night are hard. however, my experience with STE 101 was complete and utter shit. the place was packed and we were immediately seated, which usually is a good sign, but after getting our first round of proteins our table was ignored for a 45 minutes (in a 90-minute session, by the way). when the waitress came to get our second round of orders, she only took note of two proteins before walking off while i was talking. our two meats came but only one of them was correct. my friends and i were a bit frustrated and asked for the check, and we noticed that a service fee was applied. keep in mind, service fees are only added when there's a party of 5 and more. we only had a party 4 and asked the waitress why it was added. she explained that any customers coming in after 9-10PM immediately have a service fee added, which was NOT mentioned beforehand at all! i will give them the benefit of the doubt and say that the restaurant was packed with only one waitress, a food runner, and a busser. the music was also super loud, so maybe that played a role in why things for so hectic; however, the choice of continuously seating down even more tables when you're knowingly understaffed is so bizarre to me. we tried to understand them, yet our frustrations overpowered our experience so we decided to leave. read more
