It's a great place. My whole family has been coming here since the early 1980's. Hot plates with quality steak, delicious baked potatoes with melted butter, cool sour cream and chives and wonderful bread. Add mushroom to your meal can't go wrong. Salads are fantastic served on chilled plates before your main meal. I'm obsessed with their ranch dressing and croutons. Did I mention the chilled huge stein of draft beer (32 oz) for $9.00? It doesn't get any better than this and we have been regular customers for over 40 yrs. I hope they expand their hours (since Covid they changed hours to just 2pm to 8:30pm). We have been long time customers, since 1987. We come every 4-6 wks. Went on Sun. July 30 and probably won't go back until fall. The A/C is on the fritz and it was very warm, too warm. The waitresses were visibly sweating. The owner has put in a wall A/C which was on blast. No air for kitchen and dishwashers and the fan nearest our table was not working. Our food was good, servers are great, but when it is over 100+ outside, and no A/C....it is pretty miserable. We were told that the Owner won't fix the A/C. Shame on the Owner for making his employees work through that kind of heat with no A/C. read more

The food was disgusting!!! I got a steak and when it came out it was stuck to the plate. Most of the steak was fast so it was really a 4oz for $17!!. I got mash potatoes and it was disgusting, they were not seasoned at all. The only thing that saved that dinner was ketchup. The service was pretty good tho. Steak, shrimp, chicken and fish and chips were all cooked to perfection and we had a very good time enjoying ourselves as we got out of 100 degree heat into a cool restaurant. I love coming at this time (1:45 P.M.) ...just as the lunch crowd leaves and just a light crowd with excellent service. As you can see in the photos...mom was in a very big hurry to order her food. We have been coming here for many years. The quality Remains the Same. The service is always excellent. The prices are still reasonable. We especially love their little Skillet of sauteed baby mushrooms. We always order one and share it at the table . One time they gave me the recipe for it and I have tried to make them at home but they never turn out as good. read more

Came here for a quick lunch this afternoon. Our waitress was really bubbly and happy which was refreshing. I had their shrimp platter, a side of chile bean soup and mash potato with gravy. The chile bean soup was good, the meat piece was large and wouldve been nicer if it was cut up to smaller pieces. Thr shrimp pieces were large, about 6 of them thickly breaded. They kinda reminded me though of thr frozen shrimp that come half cooked so you just throw them in a microwave kinda food. Especially when my friends kid got the mac and cheese and it looked like the minute meal, microwavable type stuff too. Mash potatoes were alright, thick and hot withthe gravy providing the right amount of flavor and taste. Food just felt frozen and fake. But our waitress was really attentive and nice, always having a big smile in her face and regularly checking up on us. Only reason for the high rating. Had dinner here last week. We are so glad they are open again for inside dinning. Social distancing is in place and everything is very clean and organized. The meal was perfect, great taste and the portions are huge. Had to take some home for later. Great price for all their steaks and for the entire menu which is reduced at the moment but well accommodating. Had to wait outside until you were called in. I did notice a few older folks outside waiting for their name to be called so I would suggest some chairs outside so certain people can have a seat while waiting to be called in. Overall we had a great experience and thank the staff and everyone for reopening again and helping keep everyone safe and orderly so we can get back to somewhat normal. This hidden place has on of the best steaks in Rancho. I highly recommend the stock yard or if your really hungry the super stock yard. The steaks are aged and super tasty. Yeh you can go to Fleming's and spend $100 per person for another great steak. Or bring the family here and have a great meal for a very reasonable price. How do I say this without sounding racist Let me see HMMMM well if you're Anglo and over the age of 40 you will love it. The food is very bland and lacks flavor I don't know how else to put it. The only thing it has going for it is it staff. I can't complain there as everyone from the greeters to the waitresses to the servers and including those poor souls That have to clean up after all of us were all very kind and courteous. But other than that if for some ungodly reason you lost your taste buds were there through Covid or some thing else then you just might like this place. Not sure what has happened here in regards to the quality of the steaks here over the past several years. I've been coming here for the last 5+ years maybe even going on 10 years; however, I have come here MUCH less frequently the last year (maybe like a total of 3 times?). I remember the good ol days when the steak came out seasoned very well and sizzling hot on the plate where you could here the sizzle and see the steam. The steak, the baked potato, and the bread would stay warm-hot the entire stay here. But I've noticed the last several times I've been here that seemed to be lacking. The plates are no longer sizzling and the steak is warm to lukewarm. Not only that, but the steaks just don't taste as great as it used to. I'm not a meat connoisseur by all means, but I can tell between fresh steak and old steak based on texture and taste. I always get their stockyard steak and have NEVER strayed away from it, but it just doesn't have much taste anymore. I actually had to throw on some table salt which I would have never done in the past. Service is still top notch of course and the sides are always delicious no matter which you get (baked potato, salad, soup, etc) except their fries. Then again despise "steak fries." Anyways, I'll probably hit this place up one or two more times to recheck the quality of the steaks... read more

1st time ever eating at Steer N' Stein, I ordered sirloin steak and shrimp with baked potato, fries, small salad, and the mushroom skillet. I ordered my food to go, so I went to pick it up at the Rancho Cucamonga restaurant. When I get home with my order, I open the bag and pull out the container, flip up the styrofoam lid... everything looked great. The only thing missing is the butter, sourcream, and chives for my baked potato, that's all. I was upset because I liked the food, but it would have been better with the butter, sour cream chives, etc. To be honest, I was somewhat disappointed because I paid over 50$, and they forgot those things. All and all the food was great. Maybe next time I'll check the bag before I leave. I hope next time I'm going to be able to give more than 2 stars. read more

Has not changed in 15 years . I love this place . The whole energy of the restaurant is great . It's clean, the staff is very friendly and they are all working constantly. I used to work in a restaurant so its really annoying when I see people standing around. So noticing all the employees doing their job and helping guests , was nice . The food was great. All tasted fresh . I had the rib eye, with shrimp and a salad along with a glass of cab. The cab was really good ! I'm a wine drinker and it was very mellow and went well with the whole meal. My husband and I went here for dinner to celebrate our anniversary dinner. We were sat right away and the waitress (who was very busy) made eye contact to let us know she'd be right over. We ordered an appetizer and drinks and told her we needed a minute to look over the menu. She brought our drinks and took our order a few minutes after. I asked if they had a chicken and shrimp dinner since I had seen it on a previous menu. She said its not on the menu but we can definitely do that for you. My husband ordered the stockyard steak dinner. When the appetizer came out it was so fresh and so hot. The zucchini and onion rings were the best I've ever had. Our dinners came out piping hot and delicious. My chicken and shrimp were perfectly cooked and my husband's steak did not disappoint either. Our baked potatoes were not as hot as I'd like but that was the only down side of the whole meal. The waitress was sweet and very attentive. The service overall was the best. I was skeptical because their main thing was sirloin. Like many others, I prefer ribeye over sirloin. They also have ribeye on the menu, but I had to challenge their sirloin with such overwhelming positive review. All I can say is, they delivered.
