We had a craving for Steer n' Stein and happen to be in Moreno Valley. The service was excellent. Their Fried zucchini is the best. The fish n chips was made with the same batter as the zucchini, which is our favorite. First time visiting Moreno Valley Steer n' stein it was excellent. The stockyard steak was tender and juicy also!

Choice steak and Bbq ribs with a side of mash potatoes and toast

I been coming here for many years since I was a kid. Don't expect a fancy looking steak if you get the choice steak but it does taste good for the price you pay. The chili bean's , mash potatoes, fries, and the toasted bread are my favorite sides. Their salad is also good. Cold beers on tap what else can you ask for lol

You have to get Jordan!! Guy knows his stuff and was just a pleasure to be around. He was prompt and helped with any questions. The man is a Magician one minute you got a dirty plate then minute it's gone. The mac & cheese is a must. If you like craft mac & cheese that's pretty much it, It's like your mama made it for you back in kindergarden. Steak was also great. Put a A1 sauce on there and you got yourself a great looking dinner. Also, don't get me started on the ranch and the cherry Pepsi. And at the end he offered a road soda and it was super needed on this hot summer.

I've been dying to try this place ever since I moved to MoVal. My husband finally got the hint and we went for a date night dinner. It's definitely got a rustic feel, but I can see why it's been around over 40 years. The service was not on their A game to start. There was a large party and it took a bit for the servers to be assigned. I just called it a fluke. I doubt this is a common occurrence. Once we were seated and met our waitress she was a ray of sunshine. She checked on us frequently and made some fabulous recommendations. My husband ordered steak with his two sides being chili bean soup and vegetables. I ordered steak and ribs with my two sides being a green salad and a loaded baked potato. Everything was incredibly delicious. And for the price? It was a steal. I was the only one with leftovers and they were delicious even the next day. I did want to note two things on the back of the menu that some folks may miss. (1) They charge a 3.5% customer service charge and (2) they offer a 3.5% discount if you pay with cash.

Stake Shrimp Cocktail Sauce Mashed Potatoes with Fries and Toast.

OH MY GOSH !! This place is so delish !! first time here and i got the stake with shrimp ! the portions were delish, the stake had a nice sear on top. The shrimp nice and crispy and paired well with the cocktail sauce. Our server was a light colored eye lady. She was super quick and attentive. I'll def be there again. If i had to be super picky, I'd say the mashed potatoes were too buttery. But still edible. Honestly a great meal.

Stopped in again on our way home from out of town and again this restaurant did not disappoint. Servers were polite, accommodating, restaurant was very clean and the food was terrific. Food was very good having the Ortega patty melt and the steak sandwich. This will be my go to place when I'm in town and want to enjoy a nice sitdown restaurant.

I wish I could give negative stars ... I have been a weekly customer at Steer N Stein in Moreno Valley since July 2025. Every Friday when they open, I purchase two Super Stockyard steaks, medium rare, for my elderly mother who is seriously ill and struggling to maintain weight. Steak is one of the few foods she can tolerate, so this has been a consistent weekly purchase for months. We spend about $68 every single week and have supported this restaurant faithfully. In all that time, I have never asked for a refund or special treatment, only that the food be cooked correctly. Tonight, both steaks I purchased were completely raw when we cut into them at home. I called the restaurant and was told to drive 45 minutes back so they could remake them. Staff refused to connect me with a manager and made it clear they would only replace the steaks. I called ahead as instructed before returning, yet when I arrived the order was not ready. After waiting again, two replacement steaks were brought out , and one was still extremely undercooked. While calmly explaining my frustration after now making two trips and waiting nearly an hour total, an older man who identified himself as the owner came out aggressively and immediately began yelling at me. Instead of apologizing or attempting to resolve the situation, he accused me of costing him money, despite the fact that I have spent hundreds of dollars there as a loyal weekly customer and have never once requested compensation. He raised his voice at me and my daughter in front of other customers, behaved in an intimidating and completely unprofessional manner, and then told us we were banned from ever returning. Being screamed at and banned for asking that food simply be cooked properly is unacceptable. Mistakes happen in restaurants; hostile and disrespectful treatment from ownership should never happen. After months of loyalty and supporting this business while caring for a sick parent, this experience was shocking, humiliating, and deeply disappointing. The food issue could have been fixed easily. The owner's behavior is what lost a long-time customer. I will never return and cannot recommend this establishment based on how customers are treated when something goes wrong.

That being said, what brings me to write this review is that i really really appreciate when Safe Haus broadcasted the FIFA World cup gales in Spanish on Telemundo! The amount of PASSION and intensity that the Spanish Broadcasters put into their voice was truly awe inspiring. ESPECIALLY watching the MEXICO games! When we walked in, the lady at the bar simply told us, "You can sit anywhere you want." No greeting, no explanation of how ordering works, and no one came by to check on us. We sat down and waited, assuming someone would eventually take our order. After at least 20 minutes, I finally got up and asked the lady at the bar if someone was going to take our order. That's when we were told that we needed to order at the front and that drinks were ordered at the bar. As a first-time customer, this was frustrating. A quick explanation when we walked in would have saved us a lot of confusion and waiting. We eventually went to the front to order, but the communication continued to be an issue. We ordered sodas, but no one explained where we were supposed to pick them up. When our food finally arrived, we asked about our drinks and were told they were at the bar. Again, something that could have easily been communicated upfront. Unfortunately, the food itself didn't make up for the experience. The hamburger was burned, especially the bun, and the chicken wings were small and dry. We were hoping for a much better first impression. I always try to give new places a fair chance, and I understand that every restaurant can have an off day. But for us, it wasn't just the food--it was the lack of communication, welcoming customer service, and overall experience that really stood out. Hopefully, management takes this feedback constructively because better communication with first-time customers and more attention to food quality could make a big difference. For our first visit, unfortunately, Safe Haus wasn't a place that made us want to return.

To be sure, there were open tables through both the breakfast and lunch shifts, but still. We hogged a table. For her smiley service and take-your-time attitude, BBD gets bumped to a 4. My meat filled omelette was a generous portion of all the good stuff I liked. I did order a side of salsa and extra butter, but the salsa never made its way to the table. The more pressing matter was my cousin's steak, which she ordered medium rare, but definitely came out medium well. It took quite a long while for it to make its way back to the table which was disappointing for my cousin as she really wanted to enjoy her eggs paired with steak. It did come out prepared the way she liked the 2nd time. By then though, it was like she was eating two different meals and I was practically finished with mine. Overall, the BBD worked out for us since we live far from each other and really wanted to catch up. They made good on their steak preparation. The drinks kept getting refilled (we weren't ignored). Unfortunately, things went downhill when it was time to pay. Our server accidentally gave us another table's receipt, and my cousin paid it without realizing it wasn't ours. After we were flagged down and told about the mistake, the restaurant tried to sort out the difference instead of simply refunding the incorrect charge and having us pay our actual bill. The end result was even more frustrating because we ended up being charged nearly $10 more than what our bill should have been. Instead of fixing the mistake in the simplest way, the situation became confusing and left us paying more than we owed. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. What matters is how they're handled. It's disappointing because the food and service were otherwise enjoyable, but the way the payment issue was resolved left a bad impression.

Worst dining/service experience. A server there name Nick took over our table to cover breaks and ultimately became our server the rest of the evening. When he took over he went down the list of items we had ordered, which for a party of 3 adults was 3 beers total and avocado egg-rolls, then when the second round of drinks was ordered he asked who was driving home. I was drinking water only and quickly told him that I was driving. He served the table and some food was also ordered. Two more adults joined our table at that point and they ordered drinks and food. When we asked for that order he mentioned that the cameras were watching us and what we order. A while goes by and we went to order one last round of only 2 drinks and he made a face at us and said ok he was going to place our order. My husband got up to use the restroom and the serve waited for him outside of the restroom and asked him if we had been drinking before we got there. When my husband returned he told us what happened and we flagged him over and asked where our remaining order was because it's been a while and he remained quiet. My husband then asked if he had a problem serving us and he said yes he could no longer serve us because of the amount of food to drinks was not allowing him to and it's a policy to cover himself as a server and for the company. We spoke to the manager and we reviewed that we understand the ratio for drinks to food and what they use as a guideline for serving/safety, but for a server to follow some one and question them away from their table on top of asking us previously about drinks/driver is wildly inappropriate, demeaning, and just disrespectful on all levels. No one in our party was disruptive, confrontational, rude, loud or sloppy. We were having dinner and drinks while we had fun conversations and this interaction really made me uncomfortable and creeped out. Never going to back to this establishment.
