Rude, obnoxious crew parked in our condo complex blocking cars (of course, it's unavoidable), but were recklessly close and when asked to move the truck to a safer spot feet away refused with a hostile attitude. Over $15k in damages caused by Stella moving company! I really didn't want to post a negative review but now that I'm in escrow and an issue arose during inspection that is really disappointing I have to express my concerns. Matthew is very pleasant to talk to but when his team came, it was very disorganized. There was a lot of back and forth about cost and how long it would take. Prior to the move, I sent pictures to Matthew to get the best quote possible. I understand things can change but it really bit into moving time. In addition to the delay in getting started, they disassembled a lot of little things (e.g. lamps) that didn't get reassembled. There was just little attention to detail overall. Lastly and most costly, they disconnected my washer and dryer and never shut the water valve off completely. We have had TWO plumbers come out to assess the issue and they said it was upon washer disconnection. The mold remediation company noticed the box was in distress as well. Water leaked and now we have mold. The extent of damage is costing us over $15,000 because it involves the mold remediation, demo of laundry, guest room, and garage, as well as carpet replacement. I have contacted the owner and he said he would talk to Diego, the main guy on duty but since has not returned any of my other messages. I don't expect all of the damages to be paid, but I do think their costly mistake warrants a refund of what I paid to them. I would not refer this company to anyone given my experience. read more

Diego was a brilliant field general leading his team of Carvalho, Alex and Brinco who all worked hard and smart. We were extremely satisfied with the whole move and grateful for their efforts and overall attitudes. All 4 of them had clear roles and pitched in to help each other at the same time. Diego directed how to manuver around to bring down a Cal King mattress through a tight stairways with a low ceiling. Commanding when to turn, lift and drop to make around S-shaped entry stairs with over 200 lbs sold wood console that required all 4 of them to handle. And deciding to use the window with a 5 foot drop to fit a pulllout couch through. And taking down a door to fit the reclining chair in the new house. Diego handled adding another last minute stop without any complaints and even moved my heavy treadmill from a garage to upstairs room at an intermediate stop while picking up a dresser on the way to the final destination. We also had stopped at a public storage location to drop off some items. All went extremely smoothly. No need to worry about 4 guys standing around or handling your stuff carelessly with Stella and Diego's crew. Highly recommend! read more

I would not recommend This company for 3 reasons. 1. Low hourly rate to hook on customers but over charge at the end. The quoted rate on yelp was $187 which got me interested, after a video walk through, they offered $227/ hr for a 5 man crew which I agreed. But At the end they showed me on the iPad that it was exactly 11 hours of work but the guy forced me to sign 12 hours citing that there were lunch time etc. this was outright robbery. It was a full 4 bedroom move and costed me $3700 incl tips. My La Jolla house has many levels and stairs, yes it is more challenging but they are already charging me extra for so called large pieces. 2. Unfinished move!!! In the end, they left my master bedroom armoire, long chest and guest bedroom Armour in my garage. They put my piano in the living room rather than upstairs loft as I had originally planned. They did consult me on each piece but I had to obey them, otherwise they would drag on another 5 hours easily and plus overcharge large items fees. These are standard bedroom set furnitures and I had never had any issues with other movers before. Unbelievable. 2. Unprofessional untrained. I moved 3 times locally in the last 8 years and used different companies. This is the least trained. They were wasting trips and not carrying things effectively. Also They cannot problem solve like some of the other movers. For example they wrongly put together my full-size bed and later at night I fell on it because the screws were not even lined up. My potterybarn desk requires some assembling skills. Guys from another company was thinking hard and figured it out. Here at Stella they had no clue. I had to direct them. This crew is Uncoordinated, lacks planning wasting trips up and down the stairs. Maybe all this is all intentional to drag out hours. 4. Food issue. First mover ever to demand me buy lunch/ dinner for them. When I bought an extra large pizza from Fresco, they complained that it is not enough. None of my previous movers ever asked me for meals. I did provide water and snacks before in previous moves but no one had anytime to eat and they were busy moving! These guys almost staged a strike when I was late providing lunch/ dinner for them. The crew was like a happy chatty family of field mice in the children's book Frederick by Leo Leoni. They were chatting their way taking their time to do work without considering time and efficiency. I am petite Asian woman and I was carrying stuff myself up the stairs to speed things up and they were not shamed of it. 5. Missing furniture. I lost most 2 of my country style dinner dinning chairs. They asked me if they could take my old printer and I said yes but they did not ask my permission to take my solid wood nice dining furniture. If you have ikea furniture, go for it. If you have a $4000 a piece marble console, coffee table, large traditional solid wood furniture, look somewhere else. Being an Asian woman, I am well-to-do but frugal and was trying to be cost effective and it worked before but not with this crew. I regretted not going with Flat bid which quoted $2500 after in person walk through. I thought that was expensive, well look where I ended up. Hope this is helpful for some readers out there. I needed movers to move furniture out of my house and into a rental van for a long distance move. I have a 3 story house plus a rooftop deck so there were a lot of stairs involved and the crew handled it with ease. I was worried that the furniture wasn't going to fit in the van but they were able to make it all fit and then some. Everything survived the 700 mile drive without a scratch. They arrived on time and finished the job in less than the 3 hour minimum. Some of my furniture was staying behind for the new owners so they were very good at making sure what was staying and what needed to be moved. It's always amazing when you find a wonderful, local business that really goes above and beyond to help customers and give them the best service and price. I had called 3-4 local moving companies to just move my L-chaise sleeper couch from my home to my father's senior apt complex in San Marcos. Many of the other moving companies charged a 3-hr minimum, gas fee, and additional surcharge. Luckily, when I called Stella Moving & Delivery and spoke to Matthew, the Operation Manager, he was extremely generous and willing to provide me a 2-hr rate for 2 men, the moving truck and any minor packaging materials with no additional charge since it was such a small move. Receiving the quote was very quick and electronic paperwork was provided right after to book the move. On the date of the move, I received text messages when the movers arrived. They arrived on time, and the 2 gentlemen, Guilherme and Carvalho were extremely professional and kind. They wore booties and took their shoes off in the home. They placed the couch cushions in a separate box, and plastic wrapped the sleeper couch and chaise to protect it, as well as wrap it in blankets en route. They were out of my place within 20min. When they arrived to my father's apt complex, unfortunately there had been a mix-up and they did not have a phone number to contact my father. Matthew tried to contact me several times, but my phone didn't ring (figures!!), but they were so gracious and waited rather than turn around and charge me for multiple moves. Finally, after about 45min, they were able to get in touch with my father, who was quite rude d/t to health issues. Again, Guilherme and Carvalho were very gracious and maintained their professionalism when they did not deserve my father's poor behavior. I was able to speak to Guilherme and Matthew and apologize for my dad's abhorrent attitude, and they were very forgiving and understanding. They didn't even charge me extra for the added time they waited. Thank you to Matthew, Guilherme, and Carvalho for their patience, above-and-beyond service, and their understanding. Although the move was small, I appreciate their generosity in helping me with my elderly father have a couch, and their willingness to figure things out with the mix-up. When my friend left you 5 star review you were OK with it and never said that he did not obtain the quote through yelp. But when people leave an honest feedback instead of an apology you simply claiming the review being fake. What a shame. If I could give zero stars I would. Very unprofessional and not trained movers. My movers did not know what they are doing. They put tape on my beatiful brown leather couch and now it is ruined. Movers were polite and nice but did not seem experienced. They did not even tell me about damaging my couch, instead they tried hiding it. The most what shocked me right before finishing the move they started offering me a discount if I leave them a 5 star review. Are you serious?! I selected Stella Moving back in April 2021 to move me less than 2 blocks. 3 guys showed up to move a 1000sq ft apartment and attempted to pack everything even when been told some items were staying behind (I believe they were trying to make the moving bill even more expensive, so the company could get more money). I know that I had some large and valuable items that needed special care. However, it seemed like the movers were young and did not care how they handled my furniture, and since they dragged their feet they had to move fast at my destination due to the reserved elevator timing was lapsing in 45 mins. After finally unpacking, I found that some of my boxes for the kitchen were missing and when I email the first time no one ever got back to me. I caught up with someone today and they said they get rid of items after 120 days. I asked as a business when their movers forget customer items on the truck do they at least call them, they said yes. This past weekend a 4 man crew led by Hercules packed and moved my apartment into a new home. They were super friendly, professional, and worked very fast. They were able to move a very heavy item for me, along with some delicate plants, with no apparent damage thus far. The issue with Stella is how badly they handle problems during a move. The manager, Matthew, is great during the quote process and sounds easy going but when there is a problem with the move, he turns into a Monster. Stella damaged my furniture and my apartment. I get that mistakes happen but when I brought this up with Matthew he got really angry, denied any responsibility and finally blamed me. He became so rude and defensive that it was impossible to resolve the issues with Stella. The worst part of dealing with Stella is that Matthew is Stella! He is the only point of contact (I wish I could underline this for emphasis). So when he gets angry there is no colleague or manager that you can reach in order to mediate and settle things. I was deceived by the really good reviews on Yelp and thought Stella was a professional and well run company. They are not! If you are considering a move, save yourself the stress and find another moving company that is professional with decent management. If I move again, I will actually focus on the bad/medium reviews to see how they treat their customers when bad things happen during the move. We are on the tail end of a move with Stella (like they are wrapping up at our new place right now), and believe me when I say -- this is easily the best moving company I've ever worked with. It's my fourth home in six years, and I've used movers for most of the other moves too. But nobody compares to Stella and their entire team. Here's why: They made the process of booking with them very easy. They sent us up to date information prior to our move. From texts on when the movers would be arriving to asking us to upload an inventory of our items, the entire process was just so seamless for me. They walked me through the contract step by step before I signed it. Before our move started, they reached out and let me know they think we would have a more efficient move with four men instead of the three we booked, and wow, they were SO RIGHT. This day is flowing so well for us simply because we made this switch. In the end, this will most likely save us money on the cost of the move because they're rocking and rolling so quickly. They are very fast and efficient without ever putting our items in danger. They've made us aware of our own items and what wear and tear already existed, just so we have reasonable expectations. They kept us to date on everything while they were here. And they pet the dog, which in my opinion, is just a sweet bonus. Plus the personalities of these guys are really great. Excellent moving experience from beginning to end! I contacted several moving companies for a quote thru Yelp and Stella was the first to respond via Yelp and text. They explained their billing process clearly from the get go, so there was no surprises in fees. Also, they were the only company to be straightforward about the CA law that talks about doubling the drive time-other companies told me it was mandatory to double the drive time (which costs me more money) no matter how far I was moving to double the drive time, but Stellas explained that the only happens if the move is 5 miles or more from the initial location. Since my move was literally 1.1 miles, I was able to take advantage of that and not be double charged like I would've with another company! Also, I had a HUGE headache with my HOA with moving: The HOA was demanding additional moving coverage and to be named as an insured among other things with scheduling the move. Stella's handled all the HOA's questions and needs without involving me, which was SUCH a blessing. I ended up learning about all the headaches they had with the HOA and getting them what they needed after the fact, and it was beyond amazing that they took care of it all for me. I would image most other moving companies would have canceled on me. The move itself was quick and painless (as moving goes). It took about 4 1/2 hours to move my 1 bedroom apartment and set it all back up in the new space. We were done by 1! The guys who helped me move was friendly, approachable, easy to talk to, and worked with me as to how to place things in each room. At the end of it all, I paid less for my move than with other movers, had a GREAT customer experience in that they took care of the details of the move with the HOA, and my things all arrived quickly and were handled with care. read more
