Food was great, no complaints there. The service was terrible and I'm never one to write bad reviews, etc. but this was ridiculous. We sat for at least 10 min before anyone checked on us, we were never given silverware, we grabbed it ourselves. Two of the drinks we ordered never came until we asked for them at the end of dinner (of course no apology or acknowledgment of a mistake). The waiter never checked on us after taking our order or after the food came. We had to ask twice for the bill. I'm not expecting high end service at a place like this but the bare minimum would be nice. read more

This is a great BAR, the bartenders are attentive even if it is 2-3 deep during a playoff game. The dining portion is mediocre at best. While the food may be good for a sports bar, the service is lousy, the waitress this evening NEVER came back to see if my order was correct/good and I had to go to the BAR to get the order completed correctly. I packed up my order such as it was to take home - where I will totally miss the Giants-chiefs playoff. The waitress words to me...."uh oh" when I told her this was being posted to YELP. I paid the bill at the bar and put on the bill that the tip was to go to the bar staff only as they served me VERY well when the house was full for the Commanders playoff. I was so happy to find out about Stella Point opening in Kensington. I have gone several times and every time has been fantastic. Not only do they have great vegetarian options (rare!), the service is phenomenal. I did read a few of the other reviews where some people complained about it being loud - IMO an "Elevated Sports Bar" with all seats and bar filled shouldn't be quiet. I never felt the need to "yell" at any point (both table or bar). If I wanted to eat at a quiet restaurant I'd get takeout and sit in my dining room. But who knows, maybe that's just me. A few veggie highlights (you can tell I've been a few times..): Cheese Curds (YUM!), Southwest Nachos (slight kick to it), flatbreads (get the fig and prosciutto- sans prosciutto, so GOOD), quinoa wrap (and it's not dry!), and the pesto linguine (flavor bomb). All in all- If you enjoy going out to eat and being in a restaurant with an upbeat environment- you will love Stella Point. If you prefer a quiet night out with the family, maybe try Bucca Di Beppo. read more

I come here every Tuesday for trivia, I started when a lot of the staff were at what was Quincy's South. The staff are great, they all want to make your experience positive. It's a great spot to hang out with friends and grab a bite to eat and have a drink or two. I'm sure it's a good date spot for some but I personally wouldn't go on a date here just because it is popular and can get really loud in some areas of the restaurant. I will warn that they're planning on making some additional renovations in the near future which will affect the layout a bit. The food is consistent, I've never had a bad meal and the fact that they have tots is a selling point for me. I do recommend the steak salad, you can feel a little healthy while having something substantial. read more

Be warned! If you aren't part of the old Quincy's crew, you're business isn't wanted here. Hoping to catch a bit of football on a Sunday, I walked into an empty dining area and a few people at the bar. With no host or direction, I sat at a four top table alone. A server walked by and dropped some menus on the table without saying hi or asking if I needed anything. Menu looked basic as can be. I asked if the game would be turned on and the manager replied "we're working on it" and never asked if I needed a beverage or anything. Ten minutes later still sitting alone and thirsty. That's when I walked out. Hint guys: Business don't survive when they are treated like your personal hang out. Best of luck Based on the response from the owner, he seems to not get the point of my review. Actually has nothing to do with not having the game on. It was the service that was rendered on what seemed to be not the busiest day. Had I been asked if I needed a drink perhaps, I would have been satisfied! Spectacularly awful food to the point of being inedible-Add to that really weird employees, my waiter kept calling me "man" all the time which is bizarre on its own. I'm 45 years old and teach collegiate students . Even so --shouldn't they address every customer as Sir/Mam anyways ---Isn't this basic restaurant -101? Now as far as the food is concerned---literally the worst Chicken Sandwich imaginable! It came out within 30 seconds of ordering; so obviously must've been someone else's forgotten order that they tried to pass onto me. The bun disintegrated in 2 bites. Literally had to throw the "sandwich " away. The chicken tasted like cardboard . The Owner (presumably although I'm not sure) then came out and argued with me which annoyed me further because I asked for a replacement. I refused the replacement sandwich --paid in full , and left simply stupefied. I'm convinced that the service is actually worse than food--and that's quite an accomplishment! In case you were wondering this place isn't cheap either--1-Chicken Sandwich with sweet potato fries plus Diet Coke was $22! The freaking soda was $4 ! What a cosmic joke this place is. I wanted to like this local place (I really did ) as Kensington doesn't have too many decent options,but what a spectacular disappointment to put it mildly. What an amazing experience!!!! Stella Point Grill is the long-awaited offering from the team that ran Quincy's South in North Bethesda. They have redefined the space that some locals will fondly remember as China Gourmet. In it's place, stands a modern inviting, much-needed sportsbar in the Kensington area. Bravo to Stella!!! They have a wonderful environment that has been much needed in Kensington since the closing of Savannah's. Finally, there's a place where people can come, relax and catch a game!!! The food is so flippin good. From the bacon wrapped scallops to the steak bites (meat on a stick!!!) to the pizza, which celebrates the new venues roots with Quincy's. Everything on the menu feels elevated and delicious. But the real stars of this bar are the people. Everyone from the back of the house to the front takes great pride in creating a warm, inviting environment where you can forget your troubles. No one else embodies this more than the fantastic staff at the bar. These lovely people put the tender back in bartender. They make you feel like you're a part of the community. Good atmosphere, but we've been there twice and not impressed with the food and they only have two beers on tap - and one is Miller Lite . Last time, it was 3:30, they were not busy and I ordered a burger with blue cheese medium rare. It came back very well done so I sent it back. Sure enough the second attempt was just as overcooked. I'm not picky but it was really overcooked. Agree with most of the past reviews. Noise level extremely high, not very many single tables. Lots of black-shirted folks roaming around, but never asked how was the food. Ruben sandwich excellent, however chili that I ordered seemed like it came out of a can, served without crackers and other condiments. Prices are somewhat high. There is almost literally no service here. One of the most bizarre service set ups for a restaurant I've ever seen. I've been here 6-7 times since opening. Servers have no sections. Servers walk around and take tables 100% randomly. A bartender will get out from behind the bar and walk all the way down the restaurant past 8-12 tables to cover a table's order in the corner. Servers will drop menus and then another server will come up to take drinks. If you've already been helped, it comes across as a huge surprise to whichever server is currently standing at your table. You'll see "your" server leave your table, have to dodge a different server taking a table's order right next to the one "yours" just took, then take another table's order halfway down the restaurant. Total chaos. I've ordered water here each time i come in. I drink water with my alcohol. So do the people I dine with, and I'm assuming so does everyone??!? Never once has a water been given to my table without asking for it a second or third time. And also never enough waters. I'm at table of 5. FIVE water orders go in with five alcohol orders. 1 or 2 waters make it to the table. ??? Sometimes servers just don't come back and I've had to hedge my experiences with this knowledge. I took a work colleague to catch a game and told them "get your last drink and dessert order in now bc no service is coming back" and he laughed at me. Until literally 25 minutes went by with only food runners coming to our table once or twice. Then he got mad that I took him to Stella's. Food is alright. I should maybe sit directly at the bar if I want service in the future. Bar seats are typically filled with day drinkers so a hard task. Lots of potential here. Atmosphere is nice. The chicken was not cooked on one side, it appeared it had small white rice-like particles in the chicken. It looked like maggots, for real! My wife and I were eager to try this place and finally got the opportunity. I was really curious to see how much of a renovation they were going to do since it had been a Chinese restaurant for a really long time and one of the last times I ordered there, it didn't appear that they had remodeled it ever. They hit the mark with it, as soon as I walked in, I got neighborhood bar vibes and I thought the use of stone fit the growing trendiness of this area of Kensington. When we walked in, we were a little thrown that the hostess is past the bar in the middle of the space, but once we were pointed to them, she seated us promptly and was very polite. We ordered the quinoa wrap and the buffalo chicken wrap with fries or tots. The fries are boardwalk style and the tots tasted like they were also cooked in peanut oil, which isn't my fave, I know I'm in the minority and accept it. Everything came out hot and the fries/tots were crispy. The wraps were delicious. The quinoa wrap had a hint of spice that paired well with everything. During the dinner the service was amazing, refills just came without having to be asked which I greatly appreciate and tip accordingly on, however as the restaurant filled up (and pretty quickly) we had to flag someone down to get our check. I appreciate not being rushed out, but we also weren't planning to grow roots there, and wanted to free up a table that was going to be needed soon. All in all, we will definitely be back as it's pretty much a straight shot from our house. read more

We've been here several times. the food is very good and affordable. the staff is very nice, once they decide to pay attention to you. Very common to come in and be seated, then wait 10-15 minutes for someone to ask you if you'd like a drink, or ask if you have questions about the menu. Then when you want to pay and leave, the wait is similar. 'Dine-N-Dash' will go completely unnoticed, since they don't notice you when you ARE here. read more

Such a let down, have been here several times but tonight was a disaster. Our onion rings were raw, nachos were blah, pizza doughy, and got a fried chicken sandwich that was supposed to be grilled. We sent our onion rings back 3 times and they kept getting worse. We asked to speak to a manager but after waiting 15 minutes we just got our check and left. Didn't even attempt to comp any of the terrible food which they knew was bad because they didn't even offer to-go boxes. I thought we had found a solid go-to neighborhood spot but I can't see coming back given the experience we had tonight. I wanted to like SPG, and have a new place to hang out. I t was too loud. Food was good, but no consideration in the design for workable acoustics. All hard surfaces. Impossible to talk to your date or friends, cannot understand the server trying to answer my questions. No fun. I'll give the food between one and two the service zero. Food was OK. nothing special. Not much to choose from, especially if you're a vegetarian. The worst is customer service. In particular, the management is highly contentious over minor requests. An elderly man fell by the stairs, which are not clearly marked with a sign. As we were walking outside after seeing that, I stumbled and fell on the uneven, board-covered rubber rug. Another person almost tripped just behind me. I went back to the restaurant to propose that they put a sign or fix it, and the manager acted very rudely and unprofessionally, literally getting upset at me for falling. read more

We've been 7-8 times since the opening. Definitely needs work. The wine and beer selection is bad, they keep saying they are building a new bar and it will improve, why wasn't this done during construction? Service is fine, nothing special either way. Food costs are high, especially for appetizers, the buffalo shrimp in the top photo, $15.99 for 6 shrimp. They are good, but a terrible value. The main courses are good for the most part, nothing special. Went last week at 9:30pm with my son and my wife was going to meet us there. They said we can't enter with a minor after 9pm. The restaurant was empty and the bar had about 20 people inside. Nothing on the door, website, or anyplace else that I can find says this. Plenty of other places allow you to eat with a minor(16yr old) and have dinner. Stained Glass Pub, Frankly Pizza, Baby Cat Brewery, etc..... I wrote to their social media account and said this, nothing, completely ignored. Not going back anytime soon and will go someplace where the customer is appreciated. I am telling you all I just wound up at Stella's Point, I had a great bar tender and everybody in that bar and grille was great I had the best chicken wings and their larger French fries were excellent. It was a reasonable price for the two of us. And I think her name was Nicolette behind the bar was such a beautiful spirit I could just tell. The place is a treasure to find here in Kensington. I'm not going to go into details, but these people have huge hearts as well and demonstrated their humanity at the most fundamental level in the wake of a medical emergency.
