I called Stephens for a fourth job - repair requests for the sale of my home. Our buyer wanted a horizontal section of 1935 cast iron sewer pipe replaced which showed signs of determination. Also added an external clean out and lastly performed hydro-jetting to clear the sewer line of any roots and build up which was noted during inspection. After sorting through some scheduling snafus, Juan as lead managed competing priorities and his team very well. They did non-invasive prep on day 1 (so all systems continued to work) and accomplished the job in excellent time on the main work day. Our A/C thermostat needed to be updated, I tried to do it myself and was not able to figure out how to wire a new thermostat. The man on the phone answered all my questions and I didn't feel pressure to schedule or order anything. I booked an appointment scheduled within a 2 hours window. Right on time I recieved a phone call from Poncho to announce he was arriving. He was very nice came up with all the equipment needed right away, you could tell he was ready! Poncho suggested the new thermostat we should get, offering other option just in case, he announce the price that was matching the quote they gave me over the phone. Jose Galan saved the day. Never imagined how bad it was until our toilets clogged up. Called Stephens plumbing as an emergency and they sent Jose Galán very profesional and knowledgeable. He wasn't able to do the job that night due to it being dark and having to go under our home at night would have been difficult and he needed the proper tools to really go in deep but he came right on time early morning which I'm thankful for him I live in a mobile home which he went under and let us know that our tubing wasn't the best constructed everything was backwards which made everything worse for the whole home in general and that was causing the blockage. Boy was he great! He advised different options and decided it was best to add what was needed. I waited a couple of weeks before I wrote this review to make sure everything was working consistently. I first want to say, what an amazing professional team. Second, Rob, the estimator and his lead man, Oscar were incredibly efficient and knowledgeable of how to put in ducts, heating, and AC for my modular home by the ocean. Rob also worked with the team of three men until one of his workers was freed up from another job. Stephe's bid was $400 more than the other bid, but I chose him over the other company because of the detail in the bid. The other company, based on its bid was not detailed which would have made me vulnerable to other hidden costs once the work got underway. The company has an excellent reputation and its fleet of vans are clean and newer looking than the other company I got a bid from-which was at least a 20 year old van with faded lettering. I'd recommend this company a hundred times over. read more

I learned pricing for jobs is arbitrary. Always negotiate on quoted price and even still they may rip you off. The plumber had to be encouraged to replace corroded gas pipe. He planned to return days later to do work for $750. I called gas company same day Gas co turned off gas immediately due to safety concerns and the plumbing company planned to fix it 5 days later. I found an established contractor to come out. They fixed pipe immediately for $200. I've had Stephens do work in past- I realized now I was probably ripped off in cost- the technician comes up with an arbitrary number. What I suggest- get a second opinion and negotiate price by the hundreds of dollars. read more

I am sorry to say that I have had repeated bad experiences with Stephens Plumbing. The last experience sent me looking for another plumbing company (thankfully, I found one). One of Stephens plumbers came to my house (on a weekday) to fix a clogged drain. He was there a total of 15 minutes. Since the bill was going to the owner of the property, I didn't see it, but I later learned they charged her $280 for the supposed repair! One month later, the same problem occurred again. It was extremely difficult to schedule an appointment with Stephens and they couldn't find the previous invoice, so it would mean paying for the repair again. So I called another plumbing company and soon discovered that an old, corroded piece of pipe was clogging the drain - something Stephens should have seen and removed. Yes I would like to say this company is all about money. Had a leaking toilet and was referred to Hector. On the phone he starts going on about how they will charge me 2hundred per hour. And more for parts. He said maybe 4 or 5 hundred more for parts. He started talking about coming over and shutting the valves off near our toilet I said I only have one toilet where do I go to the bathroom at? He said I don't know if I can fix it today. He has also kept asking for my name and address. I gave it to him once so i repeated it. This conversation was very unprofessional to say the least. He acted like he didn't want to deal with it basically. Bottom line is I called someone else. I felt like he would rip me off. Those parts that he mentioned could have been inexpensive parts at home depot. I am a senior and didn't appreciate this. It's all about money. I think the red flag started at the beginning of our conversation when he mentioned I have to warn you it will cost you 2 hundred dollars per hour. I thought I'd die from fear! read more
