My Mother recently passed away so I'm in the process of getting her house ready to sell, turns out downstairs shower was backing up so I called Stephens plumbing, what a mistake. Service man came out and started work right away without any estimate, worked on drain with a snake for about 30 minutes. When he was done cleaning up he presented the bill it was for 320.00. No hydro jet, no camera just snake. When I asked why so much he said he had to charge that and to call office for a reduction if I thought it was warranted. I think 600.00 per hour is reason for a major reduction but when I called office management refused to talk to me and rude lady that answered the phone hung up on me. Great customer service. Beware!!!! After reading my review management decided they now wanted to talk to me. They offered to reduce my charge by 120.00 if I removed the review, I declined the public needs to know. One thing I would like to add, I was rude to the receptionist after she refused to management on the phone and I was wrong for that. read more

Used them twice recently for both A/C and plumbing issues. First off, the technicians are FIVE STARS. I gave this business an overall 3 star review because their front office/dispatch does not communicate consistently. We had to reschedule our plumbing twice - the first time was understandable bc the plumber was at another job longer than expected and I received a call that this would be the case. The second time it happened is when I was given the run-around by the office with different reasons as to why the plumber couldn't/didn't show up. This part was frustrating. They also say that they will call you 30 minutes before arrival. This actually didn't happen with both the A/C and plumbing appointments - they simply showed up at my door without warning. Not a big deal but if I were out running errands b/c I expected a 30-minute heads up, this could've been problematic. Still, I think the A/C technician and the plumber were both excellent and professional. The plumber, Williams, even recommended that I purchase my own faucet rather than buy from them. read more

My experience with Stephen's Heating and Air Conditioning has been extremely negative and exasperating. After over 6 weeks of service calls weekly which never fix the problem, I'm so aggravated and frustrated, I feel compelled to write this review to forewarn anyone purchasing and installing an AC/Heating unit from them. I installed my brand new unit 6/1/24. The AC worked great all summer. But later in the year I started having problems with the heat. By the Christmas holidays it wasn't working at all. The technician came several times but the heat still didn't go on. After weeks of going without heat, Stephen's finally said they would contact the manufacturer who told Stephen's they needed to order a new part from the manufacturer which wasn't in stock. Weeks later they finally installed the new part and the unit worked. Why did they repeatedly send the same technician all those times when it was obvious something was faulty instead of promptly contacting the manufacturer since it was obvious they couldn't fix it. Now it's Christmas 2025 and the heat stops working again. I call Stephens and again they send a technician. He proceeded to come back 5 weeks in a row and each time it didn't get fixed. After the 4th week I asked him what he was even doing since again it seemed obvious he didn't have a clue. He even admitted they've had trouble with these units before. If Stephens was aware of this, why did they keep sending the same technician back! By the fifth week, when he came back again, my patience wore out. I asked him why he came and I contacted the manager who apologized and said they would get me a brand new unit. Week 6 comes along and the same technician returns with an additional one and a new part. What happened to the new unit! When I spoke to the manager and questioned him about stalling when they knew it was faulty, why he kept sending the same technician every week who even admitted these units are bad and obviously had no idea how to fix it.....and where was the new unit? After they installed the new part, the heater seemed to be working, but it did each time they came for a few hours and conked out. Exactly the same issue and more than 6 weeks with no heat! I spent over $10,000. on this unit which I purchased in 2024! I questioned the manager about why I didn't get the new unit, why I had no invoices for each time they came, plus why they charged me $160. since I still have a ten year warranty on the unit and two year on the labor? He got defensive and tried to persuade me he "was on my side and to be patient." He told me the manufacturer would not replace the unit without first going through whatever procedure, parts and instructions they directed. Why hadn't they contacted the manufacturer weeks ago? The manager said he would email me my invoices, but he wouldn't commit to extending my warranty or reimbursing me the $160. labor invoice. Stephen's must be aware that they're installing unreliable units since the technician admitted they've had the same problems before. When I had no heat again today, I felt I had no other choice but to put my complaint on Yelp because I haven't been getting anywhere dealing with Stephen's directly. read more

Stephens plumbing strikes again! This time we had Andres and he saved us big time. We've been having a leak with our kitchen faucet that was installed by another plumbing company last year. The leak has been going on and off for about two weeks now and over the weekend it started dripping under the sink. We called Stephens Plumbing and they sent over Andres this Monday, he was great. He pointed out the problem during the diagnosis, was transparent about the process and pricing, and fixed the faucet! He was also very friendly and courteous. Our sinks were clogged, so we reached out to Stephens Plumbing. We had a great experience with them previously to check out some other issues with our place. They sent Robert and Luis. Robert especially did a great job and I really appreciated his explanation of what was going on, what he could do, and how to prevent it from happening in the future. Unfortunately our sinks started leaking afterwards, even before they left the house. They fixed it, but then no more than an hour after they left it started leaking again. It was the evening, but since no hours were posted online (it says 24/7) I didn't realize until much later that the number I called back was being routed to an on call service. This operator was really rude, but now I realize they may not be affiliated with the company. Luis came the next day to fix up the sink. It's only been one day but we will see how it holds up. read more

I do not recommend this company for these reasons: Their technician only cleaned the pilot of the wall heater and checked igniter. For this which took only a few minutes they charged me $134. With their service fee of $136, I had to pay $270. My tenant told me the technician told them it was an easy job and he did it very quickly. When I called the company to ask why the charge is so high. She said it took the technician two hours, which was not true! If it was my own home I would have waited to find a more reliable company. I was working too and couldn't be there myself. Plus, I had to make sure my tenant has heater ASAP. read more

Amazing service from Oscar at Stephens Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning. Moved into our house about a year ago and wanted to address a couple of items: 1) regular furnace inspection (since I wasn't sure the last time the furnace had been inspected) and 2) change the piping configuration for the gas supply line (a safety item identified in our homeowners inspection report). It was easy to schedule the appointment for a day/time that worked best for me. On the day of the appointment, Oscar was right on time. He evaluated the piping configuration situation first and fortunately had the piping parts in his truck to make the home inspector's suggested improvements. Then he finished up with the annual furnace inspection. Oscar checked multiple points, washed the filter, did some routine clean up, and let me know there were no concerns with our 20+ year old furnace (living in SoCal, of course it hardly gets used). Really appreciated that Oscar also took the time to point out our programmable thermostat was not fully wired; now we can turn on the furnace fan and circulate air during some of those hot summer months!! Maybe this will provide some relief since we don't have AC - maybe we will consider that in the future, and if we do, we will have Stephens put it in, for sure. Only suggestion I would make is for the folks on the phone setting up the appointment. When I first called, I tried to explain what I wanted done with the piping change but the receptionist just said "talk to the technician when he arrives". Had I been able to share some pictures or explain the situation ahead of time, Oscar might have been able to stock his truck with the best assortment of parts he would need. It ended up working out ok but could have resulted in a "second trip" and associated charges if Oscar didn't have some spare parts on hand. Would use the service again. read more

In late August, my air-conditioning system died after 20+ years of faithful service. Thankfully, the summer here in my neighborhood never truly arrived and for a glorious six weeks, the weather was so nice I didn't require any type of HVAC while I was able to research replacements. Free from the pressure to replace something right away, I was able to educate myself on various HVAC system and their manufacturers. Ultimately, I got six estimates and Stephen's was the best price with the best equipment. On the day of installation an extremely efficient, personable and hard working crew showed up with, after two days, my compressor, evaporator and furnace replaced with top-quality Trane equipment. We had a broken heater in early February. I know, oh no, Southern California in the winter is so cold. None the less, we were cold and in need of a quick fix. We thought originally it would be a quick repair but it was a full heater replacement. We broke the shower arm and need to get it fixed. They are very prompt to reply, gave a two hour window and arrived in time, which is good. The initial quote was $135 which is not bad. After trying the technician said he couldn't take the broken piece out without removing the wall. So he went back, gave us a new quote which was $1750. We had someone else came in, took the broken piece out within 10 mins and charged $40. I hope this is just a technical miscalculation rather than an attempt of scam. read more

This would've been five stars if it wasn't for my need to check in on the status of my repair with the office. I had to initiate the request for updates rather than receiving them. For example, my initial estimate was on a Wednesday, and due to parts needed I was supposed to receive a call from the office on Friday. I had to call on Monday for status. I understand that it's the busy season for ac repairs , but when giving out five stars it has to be close to perfect at this price point. I called this company to see if they could install a whole home dehumidifier for us, as our humidity level was out of control in our home. The guy who came out was very professional and nice, however, he told me that it could not be done in our home. He said there was an issue with the air return, and I asked him if the air return could be moved, etc. He stated that no, it could not be done. I thought this strange, because this was the third company we called out for an estimate and no one else had said that. He told me he wasn't going to write up anything or charge me for anything because it could not be done and there was nothing to write up. We called Stephens because they are a "fave" on Nextdoor, but we had to do repeated follow up to get someone to show up, they seemed to not know when he would show up or where he was for a long time, and then they gave us a verbal quote and took weeks to follow up, we actually thought they had gone AWOL on us. My impression, and I could be wrong, is that they are just farming jobs out to plumbers, based on the lack of communication and knowledge about the job between dispatch and the technician. There was nothing wrong with the technician who came out, we just don't feel comfortable with the company as a whole. If someone is scheduling a job and you ask a question about it and they know nothing about what's going to be done and you only have a verbal quote, it doesn't feel right, how do you know what to expect, or even if it will fix the issue since there's no actual diagnosis ? I guess I'm just old fashioned that way. We ended up not using them. It's very frustrating because it was a lot of wasted time and effort on everyone's part. If something doesn't feel right, I have to trust that feeling, otherwise I feel like our hard earned money is going to fly out of the door with nothing to show for it!! read more
