Driving from Texas and yelping "Dinner" while cruising I-10 and came upon this gem and it's Solid Star reviews. So good!! Family of 4, all enjoyed every single thing that was ordered. All I can say is Wow! When you walk in, you're welcomed by the clean, airy, and bright atmosphere. The helpful staff offered recommendations on what and how to order. We're big fans of Dewey's in Destin and Stewby's has knocked Dewey's down several notches on our favorites list. The breaded shrimp was awesome; the grilled shrimp tacos were great; the gumbo had the perfect level of spice, the coleslaw was delicious; and the hush puppies were crispy on the outside and delightfully warm inside, the perfect compliment to a wonderful meal. We finished our meal with the Shanty pie and a brownie. Yum! The prices were great too! Give Stewby's a try, you won't be disappointed! All we can say is WOW! We'll definitely be back! Hands down, the best seafood I have ever eaten in Florida!!! I didn't know what to expect but I wasn't expecting this level of perfection! We used to drive to FWB for our Stewby's fix- so glad they opened in Crestview ! I love the combo platter & hubby love the Colossal Shrimp. They're hush puppies are perfect (get extra!) and all of their sides are good. Even the grilled chicken tenders are delicious. Haven't tried the Calamari yet- they were out the night I wanted it (always a good sign). Can't go wrong at Stewby's - fried or grilled! read more

Food was good, but there were other not so great experience . Sides (coleslaw, bbq beans, cheesy grits) were good homemade items. Popcorn shrimp were big and with some flavor. Fried catfish had no flavor. Tatar sauce was too watery. Amberjack fish of the day was out by 6 pm. Roach crawled up the order counter. Then I was asked for tip after ordering when I had no received any service. Around the corner were all the tables and none were clean so we had to wipe it up ourselves before seating. We visited the area and after reading reviews we decided to try Crestview location. The food was less than average. We had the gumbo which tasted like rice and gravy at best. The fried oysters were over breaded with no season. The fries that came with the oyster basket and the side of baked beans were the best thing. My son had the chicken sandwich which was too soggy with cole slaw. The banana pudding was very watered down. The place is clean and the service was decent. You can see the kitchen staff from the counter and there was a man in a blue T-shirt that working back there that kept wiping his face with his hand. Very unsanitary. I almost didn't order but it appeared that he was not handling the food. If you want good seafood I would say try someplace else. read more

I don't know if Stewby's what is going o. With this restaurant, I just had the worst salad! I love salad but I couldn't finish this Grilled Chicken Salad. The service was amazing. We got in there after reading the reviews we didn't know what to expect. As soon as we got there they smile and greet us. We have a quick conversation while looking at the menu. We choose what we would like and we don't expect it to be good. They call our name and we get our food and we are surprised that it is actually good looking. We take a bite and it was the best thing we had on this trip. Definitely recommend it for all the tourists and travelers out there because it is Florida fresh fish is what I like to call it. Have enjoyed Stewby's for years and was excited to see the Crestview location open. Initially, it was what we had always found in their Ft Walton Beach location--fresh seafood well prepared. Recent experiences in Crestview have not left us impressed, however. On one occasion the grilled fish was undercooked and in most of our recent visits the coleslaw was not crisp as it has always been in the past; rather, it had so much liquid that it was more "soupy" than crisp and fresh. Hope the owner/manager is paying attention as loyal clientele will not continue to frequent if corrective measures aren't taken. read more

First of all, it was pouring down rain and there was no cover so I was soaking wet by the time I went to pick up the food we'd called in and ordered. The doors wouldn't open and no one inside of the place bothered to help me (very rude), which isn't the store's fault but still. I had to go around in back and have the employees let me in through there. By this time I was pissed but since we'd already paid for the order, I went ahead and picked it up. I also asked if the one soft drink they gave me was the only drinks my daughter had ordered and they said "yes," but that was a lie so I was missing 3 drinks and didn't know it until I got home. I am in unbelief how anyone can rate this place under 5 stars. My family of 6 just enjoyed an absolutely wonderful lunch at Stewbys today. 3 of us had the shrimp basket, and 3 had the mullet basket. It was more than enough food, and the price was very reasonable. We were pleasantly surprised to have 3 choices of fish for the basket, rather than just getting whatever they had extra of. We all 3 chose the mullet, although amberjack and snapper were available. The food was cooked to order and was very tasty. The best part--the fish and shrimp were caught locally and delivered to Stewbys in a cooler. For the price paid for local seafood, Stewbys cannot be beat. Do not eat here. Everything we ordered was bad. Took one bite of fried oyster and it tasted weird, fried shrimp was tasteless, beans had some kind of weird meat in it that should not be in baked beans, potato salad had good taste but so many bad skins in it I couldn't eat it all, ordered greens but they gave us green beans and the lady said "oh it's cooked the same way so we just gave you that cause we ran out of greens", I tipped but don't know why as there wasn't any service to tip for, and crab cake wasn't completely cooked so it was raw/mushy on the inside. I have visited this location many times, but waited to review after trying a variety of menu items. I absolutely love this place! Every menu item is consistently delicious. Very disappointed by this place, my last place to eat before leaving Florida... 2 Flounder dinners $40.00. And my fish was fried and it tasted like all batter then fish. The pieces of fish was so flat that it didn't taste like nothing but batter. I would of rather had less pieces , and had some thicker pieces to eat. read more
