Visited chicago on a whim and decided to dine here for our anniversary. Even though we had a reservation they still didn't seat us til 30 min after. Not to mention it wasn't busy, half of the restaurant was empty but I'm taking into consideration maybe they were short staffed. Once seated, it took 15 min for our server to come and greet us and take our drink order. We never received our cocktails til 30 minutes later. Once I mentioned we were still waiting on our drinks, our waitress came back with them right after checking on them. We also ordered an appetizer which we never received. Spent most of the 2 1/2 hours practically waiting, and was annoyed because we had reservations for somewhere else afterwards so we tried to plan accordingly. But besides that the drinks were good, and the food was good but nothing special. Wouldn't dine at this location again but will have to check out another cause we enjoyed the ambiance. This review is mainly about the service I received. Food was great. I came in during a very slow time of day, about 10 other guests. I ordered two appetizers and a steak. I'm immediately handed the check, which makes me feel rushed. The server brings out the food and brings out everything at once, I am dining by myself and this makes me feel even more rushed. I've got two appetizers I need to quickly eat now before my steak gets cold. We Visited STK twice on this trip/ MARCH 23rd 2025 and MARCH 24th 2025 1st night everything was great my wife and I spent about 300+ on dinner Second night we came back with my brother and sister in law for happy hour/ SERVICE was HORRIBLE! It felt like they didn't want to serve us as soon as we said happy hour We had to keep waiting for anyone to come around to be able to even ask for anything and everytime we did ask for something we were looked at as if we were bugging them. Towards the end, after all of our plates were picked up the server reached over the bar to grab the cup I was using and a ROACH is crawling right near the servers hand and the cup I was using! He immediately swiped it off the counter and said "I will be right back"/ the server never came back out only the manager did and his only words were "I don't know what to say, we all have good and bad days" So DISGUSTING! My wife and I live in Las Vegas and had been wanting to visit STK out in Vegas and since we were in Chicago we decided to go there for a date night. I know there is ROACHES everywhere but when u walk into a place, especially a place that charges what they charge, u should NOT have to worry about a ROACHES coming out of ur food or from where ur food is being served! We were highly disappointed and our stomachs turned inside out, especially after having dinner there the night before! My wife was still working a clam chowder soup that was served more room temperature than anything when the ROACH crawled on the bar/counter! Needless to say she didn't finish her food. HORRIBLE! On our first visit, we came for Happy Hour and every seat was taken up at the bar. And, We weren't allowed to have a regular table - what a bummer. So we ended up sitting on these small seats by the front door, right next to another couple. Suboptimal right, I know. The happy hour items were ok but my back (sitting on those uncomfortable small seats), the front door traffic and loud couple next to us (they were probably on their first date) - made it like a 3 star experience...wouldn't you agree?? But we gave them another chance because we wanted to try their steak. Well we weren't disappointed. The ribeye bone-in and Chilean Sea Bass were great choices. Gnawing on the steak bone in public maybe frowned upon but you've gotta live a little. However, I was most impressed by the creamy corn pudding - I need more of that!! Also, the Bread pudding cake with ice cream was so warming to my heart and me belly. These two items are at the top of their menu. Not a bad chain restaurant experience at all. Pretty disappointed that there was no advertisement that the happy hour menu would not be available on Valentine's Day. We made reservations here to have a few happy hour drinks and small bites before continuing on to other Valentine's night plans, but then ended up having to order from the full dinner menu when we weren't planning on that being the more expensive part of the night. Dinner was over $200 with us ordering conservatively - 2 drinks, 2 main dishes and one side for 2 people. This is "ok" if you plan on coming here for a nice night out, but not a fun surprise when the plan was for this to be a quick stop for happy hour on a night when it's impossible to get a last-minute reservation at a decent place to go elsewhere. I have never spent this much on a meal just for myself but it was so worth it! Our waitress Thalia was very friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, & have great suggestions. The music was also amazing - we thought it was a playlist and we're going to ask for the link, but it was actually a DJ. I ordered the surf & turf with prawns and chimichurri sauce and it was the juiciest well done (don't come for me) steak I've ever had. Thalia suggested the spicy watermelon margaritas and even though she said we'd only need 1 round, we ordered a 2nd . We couldn't decided on two family sides so we ordered 4: mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, Mac & cheese, & brussel sprouts. Beautiful ambiance, low light, and cozy experience. I visited this restaurant during the holiday, and they offered a separate menu for the holiday also. The waitress was very knowledgeable when it came to menu recommendations. I love a good Cabernet and I went with the waitress choice, which was fantastic. I didn't like the seat arrangements, especially since there were a couple tables open in the area. My table was in the back near the drinks so it was kind of annoying because different servers kept passing. I ordered the NY Strip and it was pretty good, and the lamb chops I recommend. The bill was more expensive than I thought it would be, but I would recommend the experience. read more

I was really hoping I would have a great review. Unfortunately, I don't. My family and friends celebrated a birthday on 11/15. We arrived on time, however we had a 20 minute wait for our table w/a reservation. Our server, David wasn't really thrilled about serving our table. He didnt inquire about if any of us had been there before or really give any suggestions on what to have. The food and drinks took longer than usual to come out. Because we were a big party, i knew the gratuity was automatically built in. When the food arrived, it was lukewarm. It was tasty, but I would of preferred it ro be hot. The atmosphere was dark with poor lighting.. This made it hard to read the menu. I've been to STK more than once, however this was the worst experience I've had. I spent a significant amount of money for poor service and average food. I certainly hope STK can do a better job in the future. I've been wanting to come here for a while, but i was highly disappointed. We came for lunch on a weekday, we were really dressed up because it was my birthday. I felt embarrassed because the waiter had said something along the lines like "welcome to our lunch, it's more casual than our dinner" I was already feeling embarrassed as it was. We had ordered a Fiji water, which was a HUGE mistake. It was $9! I honestly should've already expected that, but we were offered that option; not being told there was a price difference and I never expected for there to be a huge price difference. We ordered 2 cocktails for $20 each. I've had better for cheaper at other restaurants. I had ordered the Steak frites for around $32 and my Husband had ordered a Wagyu burger for $10. He was content with his meal, but wasnt really wowed by anything in particular. My meal however was not even sub par. The menu states that the Steak Frites had ribeye steak, but I don't even think I got beef! I honestly feel like they served me a piece of pork and put beef seasoning or something. The meat was not tender, but tough (and I ordered medium well). The cut itself was very flat which seems pretty odd being a "ribeye". Cutting through it and seeing the inside as well had made me very suspicious. The inside did not look at all like any kind of steak at all! If I'm mistaken and if it really was a steak, then that is the worst steak I've ever had. I honestly ate it just because I was very hungry. Overall, the place is very beautiful. I'm sure that's the main selling point for this place because it's for sure NOT the food or drinks or even service. Very expensive for under performing food and drinks. If you want to get a GOOD steak I'd recommend Longhorn or Texas Roadhouse over STK. read more

We ordered sea bass, lots of steaks paired with some sides. The way you are treated as a customer was so amazing. They would constantly refill your drinks and water. We love the decor and the music. The service was very attentive. We tried the ribeye, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, corn pudding, mac and cheese, Caesar salad, apple pie, and chocolate cake. The only thing we did not like was the mushrooms. The menu does not list the type of cheese that comes on it and apparently it is goat cheese. Guess we should have asked but it also should have been listed. We tried multiple steak sauces and I liked the red wine one the best. My friend liked the chimichurri. I just want to say I been eating here for years. Never once was I disappointed with any services in this restaurant. I dine in and I get carry out living in the area I find myself enjoying a delivery at times. However I was too impressed when I ordered carry out yesterday and had the burger and chips I added cheese and bacon to my burger and I must say this was one of my most enjoyed burgers with a bacon topping. The bacon was plentiful and very very good if I could do this again it will happen. We had a reservation for 8 people at 10pm. Six of the eight people showed up and we were informed all parties have to be present to be seated, fair enough. Our friends came a little after 10:20pm. We, then, were informed that we have to wait again because our table was no longer available. Not once did any of the hostesses mentioned that our table would be given up after X amount of time. I've read the reviews and knew all parties had to be present, but seriously giving up our table at 10pm? Please *eye roll* Also we ordered Coronas at the bar in the front, it was skunked. We informed the bartender and switched out to Modelo...which then again was also skunked. We decided to not say anything. At our table, we ordered another round of Modelo...and it was also skunked. We asked Justin to switch it out to a Stella. At this point, we didn't want to bother anymore. Maybe STK isn't the place to grab a beer, unless you like it skunked. Justin, was very accommodating and patience for our group of 8. He was really nice and friendly. Sourdough bread starter was great. It was warm and fluffy. The olive oil & chive dip was awesome with it. Kale & Brussel sprouts salad: I'm not a huge fan of raw kale, so I was glad it was shredded. It blended well with the shaved Brussel sprouts. I love, love, love the crispy prosciutto! The salad was dressed and still crunchy, but the crispy prosciutto added a different type texture to the overall dish. I couldn't really find the flavors of the pecorino. I felt like the salad was a little bit acidic for me, might be the vinaigrette. NY strip: I like that it's pepper crusted, gives it a nice refreshing bite. The steak was nice and tender. I thought it was a little bit salty by itself, but the red wine gastrique cut the salty. Chocolate cake: I ordered this off menu through the suggestion of a friend. The chocolate cake was very rich and decadent. By itself, it was really rich. Just came here for dinner while in Chicago for a quick trip and it was such a great experience! We arrived a bit early prior to the reservation but the hostess accommodated right away with no problem. Our server was Allyson and she was fantastic! So friendly and helpful with menu recommendations, such a pleasure! I had the braised beef short rib which was delicious, tuna tartare and Caesar salad to start, and my mom had the wagyu lil burgs and everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. They even brought out a delicious chocolate cake on the house for my birthday! Bria was an excellent server tonight. She was bubbly, helpful, and gave great advice to suit our tastes. We walked in without reservations at 6pm and were seated immediately on a Sunday night. This is definitely not your grandpa's steakhouse! It has a loud, modern, upbeat vibe. The cocktails were amazing ($21 ea) and I highly recommend the strawberry vodka one for any sweet-tooth. The 6oz Filet ($58) was as good as expected at this price but the truffle butter ($12) topped it off. The sides ($19 ea) are meant to be shared and 2 sides can suit 3 people. We tried the Brussel sprouts which were a bit too sweet but I loved how they were blackened. The confit mushrooms were very rich with whole garlic cloves and creamy goat cheese. My sides were the tater tots and Brussels sprouts (which were divine). The tater tots were more like fried mashed potato sticks yet somewhat enjoyable. My steak however ehh. I went to STK for a family birthday celebration and had a pretty good time. The food was amazing. However, we did have a few issues with the service. The kitchen completely missed our bread and appetizer order (which is why I am only giving 3 stars). I am honestly not a steak person so I got the Maine Lobster Linguini which was packed with lobster and really rich. First time here and our server, Gabriel, took great care of us. He was honest and accommodating about special requests. And he made sure any issues we had were promptly resolved. We felt well taken care of and fortunate to have had him as our server. In fact, the entire service staff was on point. It was impressive to see such a large staff operating with such coordination and effectiveness. Considering how busy the restaurant was on a Friday night, we expected to have a long wait or some common issues. But management is apparently very seasoned and we could tell how they planned for the evening rush with how multiple staff members took care of us throughout the many steps of a busy service! They didn't skimp on presentation either, as we had tableside torch service to melt our steak butter, which was fun. Thoroughly impressed with the service, space, and food. We noticed and appreciated the pop of color the white flowers throughout the space provided too. You are dining in a beautiful space where staff will take good care of you. Steaks and salmon were cooked to the requested temperatures and our lobsters were perfectly roasted. We also enjoyed the bread and the mushroom side dish. Food overall is solid. Drinks were surprisingly strong - some people like that, but we would have preferred a smoother drink so we could try other cocktails. Dessert was a surprising end to a solid meal as they were delicious enough to compel us to eat despite being stuffed. The prices are more than fair for the service and food quality received, which is not a feeling I normally get lately - so STK has really stood out during a particularly difficult time.
