Visiting from New York and although the vibe was a bit different than the STK in the meat picking district we had a great time. Our waiter was awesome and really made the experience that much better. Forgot his name but know that he is Greek and he was not only good at serving us but also giving us chicago first timers good tips on nightlife. The steak was awesome and my husband had the rack of lamb. Everything was cooked to perfection and the mac and cheese, mashed and Brussels sprouts really sent us to heaven. My friend and I both found our waiter to be a bit rude, service felt rushed, didn't feel like our waiter was really listening and it showed when our order came out wrong. Complimentary bread service came out after we both finished our starters and was taken away in less than 5 mins without even asking if we were done, barely had a chance to eat it. Food itself was hit and miss. We both had the crab cakes as a starter which were really good. I had surf and turf, both steak and lobster were nice sized portions. The steak was good, though I personally prefer a char on my steaks, not a big deal, however. The lobster tail was cooked well, great texture but very bland. Friend had the Cowgirl Bone-in Ribeye, he said the taste was good but the steak was visibly overcooked. As for our sides, the tater tots were bland though the sauce that comes with was amazing, asparagus was bland, lobster mac n cheese was delicious. Her smiling face and good attitude made our dinner even better. She gave us an amazing rundown of the menu and was always checking in to see if we needed anything else (we like to order as we go). Save yourself a headache!! Our first and last time we ever go to STK. Last night we had reservations for 8pm, arrived a few minutes early. We weren't allowed to enter the restaurant to check in, we waited 10 minutes for one of three hostesses to come outside and check everyone in. Once you got checked in, the estimated wait for your table (with reservations!!) was an hour!! The hostess just kept repeating the same lies: people are staying more than their 90 min. allotted time, falling behind, they were at capacity, etc. Coming from the restaurant industry this is all a lie, they just simply did not correctly staff their restaurant and manage their reservations. There was a crowd outside of literally 30-40 people in 0 degree weather!!!!! The only reason people weren't leaving was due to their NONREFUNDABLE $100 per person deposit for your reservation. Even though you arrived on time and they could not accommodate you at your reservation slot (min. wait up to an hr outside) they were not offering refunds. The hostess just kept repeating like a robot that they can transfer the money to a gift card for further use. Keep in mind, if youuuuu arrived past 15 minutes you will lose your deposit! While they can keep you waiting in the freezing cold for over an hour. In asking for a manager the hostess would simply state to email corporate STK as no manager was present!!!! Another lie, the manager was most likely hiding under a rock laughing at the madness. To just paint you a picture, there were two bouncers outside angrily yelling at people to stand in line and to get out of the way. It really felt like I was 21 again trying to get into an overhyped club. On top of alllllll of that, there was only one poor guy doing the valet. So not only did they make you wait for your reservation, there was also a min. 20 min wait to get someone to park your car and then another wait for you to hunt down the one poor valet guy. You pay 16 dollars for a headache basically. Once you're inside the alluring aesthetic of the restaurant is not consistent throughout. So you might get seated in the nice area that probably attracted you online, or you might get seated in a dark bland room in the back like we did. Our room was all black, one cheap small candle in the middle of the table and cheap nylon covered chairs. I will say our waiter was amazing, but NOTHING made up for the horrible experience probably 80% of the customers experienced that night. Its disrespectful how they treat their customers, complete disregard to how to run a restaurant. To end this review I will like to add that the asparagus were bland. 19 dollars for ill seasoned vegetables. read more

Last night I went to STK with a group of friends & the experience was just okay. The waiter was pleasant, but had a few hiccups throughout the night that made our dinner a little less enjoyable. We ordered some drinks & and two appetizers... and the appetizers never showed up. The drinks started to pile up on the side of the table and the waiter came by multiple times and never took them off the table until I asked if he could take them. We also had to ask multiple times for our water glasses to be refilled. The food was very good, except we ordered the calamari & never ended up getting it. Someone at our table ordered a steak medium rare & the steak was more than well done. When we brought it up to the waiter, he said "okay, I'll let the chef know" and that was all we got.... not even an apology or a new steak. Went there last night for a pre-valentines date. We had an 8:45 reservation, but weren't seated until just after 9:00. Restaurant has a sexy, club-like interior full of stylishly dressed customers. Our table was small and a bit wobbly, and because we were near the door, it was a bit drafty. The thumping house music in the background would probably be good for groups, but was a bit loud for an intimate date night. Service was good. Waiter was knowledgeable and attentive without being annoying. My wife has the strawberry cobbler cocktail and I had the stk mule, both of which were great. Waiter brought over some pull-apart bread which was fabulous. We started with a Caesar salad, tomato burrata salad, and shrimp cocktail. The salads were good, but not outstanding. My wife had a filet and Mac and cheese for dinner, I had the braised short rib. Everything was tasty, but not extraordinary. My favorite item was the bread pudding we had for desert which was delicious. I probably would have given this place 4 stars, but the prices are what made this 3 stars for me. In total, I spent $230 before tip; one of the most expensive meals of my life. I'd be ok spending that if the food was just to-die-for, but it just wasn't for me. I have had better meals at half the price in equally attractive settings. BLVD in the west loop comes to mind. All in all, it was a nice restaurant and a mostly nice experience, but don't know that I'll go rushing back unless I win the lottery. read more

Aside from the good service & gorgeous decor there really isn't any incentive into dining at STK. Anytime you eat at a restaurant & a salad is the highlight of your meal you're in for trouble. Aside from bland food the place was also extremely expensive for the prosaic product. I'm not one to mention money however this food isn't on par for such a hefty bill. The wagyu sliders were reminiscent of "butcher & the burger". The "jalapeño grits" although spicy & the color of slime were tasteless. The "lobster rockefeller" was hefty but lacked flavor & it was $80+ for a gd lobster, no truffles nor gold flakes. The "Chilean sea bass" had a decent sweet sauce but overall you will tire of the dish after about 3 bites into it. Lastly the "Brussels sprout salad" was actually pretty good but again, it's just a salad. I definitely will not be returning to yet another steakhouse which lacks anything but a beautiful interior. read more

This place is sexy & swanky inside. I love the intimate booth seating, and the dj livens up your dinner by having you bounce & sway during your appetizers. I love their side dishes-they mashed potatoes were nice & creamy. The Brussels sprouts were tasty & the shrimp ...we had to order seconds of those! They had just enough kick for spice, fried to a crisp & was well seasoned. Unfortunately, my guy ordered a steak & I have to say after tasting a few pieces we both were disappointed. It lacked flavor, NO seasoning & it was very very bland. I ordered lamb chops & I enjoyed them. In closing.....to.sum.it up: STK definitely can't compare with other surrounding restaurants for their steak but they get 5 stars for AMBIANCE, 5 stars for their great bar service, satisfying SIDES & finally for giving me a birthday take home gift. Had a reservation for 7:15 Monday evening for 5 people. Reservation wasn't ready and was told it would be about an hour. Not acceptable. We were told that their reservations were run out of their center in Denver and they had the ability to override Open Table and did so often. The place was grossly overbooked and that shouldn't happen. No real manager on duty and the hostesses were completely overwhelmed due to their corp. nonsense. We were seated at a 4 top table as a group of 5 and were shoe-horned into a small space against the wall in the bar and jammed up to another table. Nobody here cares whatsoever about service...all they want is your money. I had clients with me and it was very embarrassing to have us treated like this. It is also extremely loud with music and 300 people trying to talk over it. Can't recommend and will never return. We arrived to STK for our reservation. We waited to be initially checked in. Due to several parties arriving ahead of us, by the time the hostess attended to our party it was about 10 minutes past our reservation time. She proceeded to tell us that we were late and would not be able to seat us. This should have been an indication of what the rest of the night would be like. We explained that we have been waiting and she then reluctantly went about arranging a table for our party. We waited another 15-20 minutes then we're seated. Our server attended to us with water and drinks. The assistant that was pouring water for our table spilt water all over the table. He then gave us a bar towel to clean up the water he spilled. He did not attempt to clean up his mess. We ordered our drinks and later told our server that we were celebrating our friends birthday. She asked if we would like shots and we proceeded to order them. We also later ordered our dinner. We received our drinks and shots and subsequently our meal. When we received our meal our steaks were over cooked as two steaks were ordered as medium and came out well done. I ordered a rare plus steak and received it as a medium rare. The steaks were heavily over seasoned and to be quite frank tasted no better than an Outback Steakhouse steak. The server did not come to inquire if our steaks were to our liking. We however did not complain or send it back as we were trying to enjoy our friends birthday evening. The rest of the evening we saw our server very little. She was not very attentive to our table. At the end of meal our bill came. While reviewing the items, we noticed that each shot was $69. This was not disclosed to us at the time of ordering. The shots were tequila and honestly should have normally been about half of that. This was what we thought was the final straw. We paid our bill however was very upset about the situation. We asked to speak to the manager. While discussing the events with the manager, we were told that if we could not afford to pay for our shots we should have asked how much they were first. I have never been so insulted in my life. We just paid a $1200 bill for subpar service and food. There was no problem in affording our bill as each member of our party are medical providers/professionals. It was very rude and insulting for the manager to insinuate that we could not afford our bill. Honestly there are no words to adequately express the level of incompetence and subpar service this restaurant exhibits. Each area of service was unfortunately lacking from the slow hostess, the assistant server spilling water all over the table then handing a bar towel to the guests to clean his mess, inattentive and uninformative server, to a downright rude and disrespectful manager. While STK in Chicago tries to present itself as an upscale restaurant, it unfortunately fails to perform to the basic standards of an everyday establishment. It has a long way to go before it deserves any accolades of being considered a fine dining experience. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone. Although I've dined at other STK locations, it has left such a bad impression that I will never visit another STK again. I will also discourage all of my friends, family, and colleagues from visiting this STK in the future. If I could have given no stars that would have been a better representation of the lack of quality and customer service provided by this establishment. read more

The food was great but the service was extremely slow. Nice decor and every time I looked around to admire it I noticed 3-4 servers standing in the corner. Ordered a Not Your Daddy's Whiskey it made my lips burn but my date loved it and proceeded to drink it. Pinot Noir was pretty good according to my date. I felt as though it tasted like regular wine. I dined here last night, STK did not disappoint!! The steak melted in my mouth! I wish I remembered the name of the cut I got, it was on the night specials menu, not the regular menu. I had not been feeling well and was drinking water like a fish. Our server Anastasia, without telling her, kept my water cup and soda filled all night! I lost count after five glasses of water. It's not only the food that makes the experience great, but also the service!! I'm visiting from San Diego, and definitely will be back. This was our first time going to STK. I had friends from out of town and we were celebrating two birthdays. The food was really good, but the service wasn't the best and the music being played by the DJ didn't match the ambiance. It took forever to get our drinks and for the server to take our orders. What made it worse was that the table near ours got their order before us even though they were seated and ordered after us! The restaurant wasn't even busy at the time we were there! To add to the disappointment, it was taking forever for our birthday desserts to come out that we ended up cancelling it because we had to be somewhere at 1130p but it was almost 12a at this point.
