I have never set foot inside this restaurant. This is for delivery only... I am not a vegetarian. I love a good steak & I love a good burger. A steakhouse burger? Good. A great steakhouse burger? Better. A great steakhouse burger for 10 bucks? Best. I didn't believe it at first either. But it's on the menu folks. Their house cheeseburger is $9.99. And it is a quintessential steakhouse cheeseburger to boot. Exceptional beef, American cheese (NOT cheddar, old school!), the freshest toppings, house special sauce. It comes with their own house potato chips, but you can sub those out for fries for 3 bucks. The fries are decadent & fantastic. Are they double fried? Are they baked first, then flash fried? Whatever the secret, it renders fries that are divinely crispy on the outside with perfect tooth on the inside. Yes, great steakhouse fries. Best delivery fries for sure, & I didn't think there could be such a thing. For this reason, I'd recommend doing the express delivery. It's worth it. They're delivered in fancy STK foil wrappers. I guess given they're a high end steakhouse that's to be expected, but I still get a kick out of it. It adds to the whole "ordering from a luxe steakhouse experience." Upon arrive for dinner reservations at 5:30p we were unaware we could order happy hour from our dinner table so we had to sit outside dinning (or bar which was full) to order off the happy hour then close out our table and head back to the front to be seated for our dinner reservations. It's complicated. Did I like the food? Yes. Was the service friendly and attentive? Yes. So why wasn't I totally thrilled? Because even though I thoroughly enjoyed a top-notch cut of beef (10 oz. New York), accompanied by yummy fries and perfectly al dente asparagus with a citrus accent, the price was awfully high. Despite the quality of food and service (both excellent) I didn't think the price was entirely justified. I paid $176.94 for the above meal, including a nice glass of Oregon pinot noir, and a 22% tip for Craig, who definitely deserved it. Will I be back? Possibly, with beef-loving guests for a splurge, but STK won't be in my regular rotation. Something else to consider is the hipster vibe. The décor is eye-catching and very well done. Good use of neon. The soundscape reminded me of the 1980s Hi-NRG once heard in gay nightclubs. If that's your thing, you'll love it. But if a quiet conversation over dinner is more your speed, this might not be the place. Again, let me stress that everyone I interacted with at STK was delightful and the food was great. I just thought the price point was a bit high, and the ambience potentially a bit much. Recently, I learned that STK offers happy hour daily--Monday to Friday from 2:30 to 6:30, and weekends from 2:30 to 5:30. I came with some friends and we were seated at the outdoor patio. I ordered their award-winning spiced watermelon margarita. We also ordered four appetizers to share and all of them were delicious. My favorite was the $3 crab and corn fritters--I was shocked when my friend told me it was $3 for four pieces. This is a must-order! We also tried their Lil' burger with truffle fries, beef tartare and calamari. Everything was excellent. Our waiter, Michael K., was very attentive. We visited on a Saturday afternoon when the restaurant was not very busy at all, with plenty of open tables both inside and outside, so we were surprised by how poor the service and food quality were. Our server took our order fairly quickly, although she couldn't answer some basic questions about the portion sizes of the happy hour specials. Thirty minutes later, she came back to tell us they were out of one of the drinks we had ordered. After waiting even longer, our food arrived first, and our drinks didn't arrive until all of our dishes were already being set on the table. Several items were cold by the time we received them. The Japanese Wagyu in the tacos was cold, overcooked, and far too chewy. For a restaurant that charges premium prices and heavily markets its steak, serving Wagyu in that condition was shocking. We ordered fried rice to share, but no serving spoon was provided. After asking for a serving spoon, a staff member brought us a utensil roll containing only a knife and fork, assured us a spoon was inside, and rushed away before we could point out that it wasn't. The mac and cheese triangles were also underwhelming and tasted and looked more like Kraft mac and cheese than something you'd expect from an upscale steakhouse. To make matters worse, our server informed us that we had been accidentally charged for sparkling water and said she would remove it from the bill. Unfortunately, the charge was never taken off. Because the service had already been so slow and we were rushing to make it to another event, we didn't catch the mistake until after we had paid, leaving us charged an extra $9 for something we never ordered. I also later realized that one of the cocktails was charged at $23 despite being listed at $19 on the happy hour menu. I remember the price specifically because we had discussed why it cost so much more than the other happy hour cocktails and assumed it might be a larger drink meant for sharing. Instead, it came in a tiny glass, and we were charged $4 more than the listed menu price. To make matters even stranger, the receipt listed the drink as "Spring Fever" even though it was listed as "Summer Fever" on the menu. Between the slow service, cold food, disappointing quality, and billing errors, this was a frustrating experience from start to finish. read more

Honestly, I waited a bit before writing this review because I was so disappointed in my visit. Disappointed in the menu, service, and food. I'll do my best to summarize my experience below. I made a birthday reservation via OpenTable. I called to confirm that the special date night menu would be available because it was such a good deal, and the representative also let me know to take advantage of the happy hour menu. The customer service call went well -- the plan was set. We arrived on time for our indoor reservation and were seated directly in front of an open door. It gets breezy in SF in the evenings, and it definitely was that night, so I asked to be seated at a nearby table instead and received some pushback. I was told things like, "this is the table you reserved," "those other tables are for other reservations," and "we may not be able to seat you somewhere else." It was odd and didn't make much sense. After 20 minutes of standing by our original table, and after speaking to 3-4 different employees, we were eventually seated at a nearby table. I immediately asked for the Special Date Night Menu. Our server said they had to go get it and never came back. A few minutes later, another server arrived, said she'd be taking over and asked what we'd like to order -- so I had to ask again for the special menu. She kindly informed me that because there was a convention in town, the special menu was not available. I then asked for the happy hour menu because I saw they had oysters and the rep suggested I get them and was told I'd have to stand at the bar to order them. Alright, 0 for 2 -- great way to start. We browsed the menu and placed our order, and I stepped aside to speak with the manager about the experience so far. To my surprise, he couldn't have cared less. He said there was nothing he could do to fix the menu issues and that the call center was based in Denver, so it wasn't his fault that the menu details weren't relayed to me correctly. He offered to buy a round of drinks for the table, but we weren't drinking, so that didn't help. He also suggested I sign up for the birthday rewards so next time I could get a $50 discount. Nothing useful there - Alright, back to the table I go. For dinner, we ordered Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Traditional Mac and Cheese, Asparagus, Miso Glazed Chilean Sea Bass, Free Range Chicken and Braised Beef Short Rib. I was very disappointed, to say the least. The chicken was pale and it lacked seasoning. The sea bass was tough and chewy. The braised short ribs were fine -- nothing particularly good or bad to say there. The best things we had were the Brussels sprouts (though they could've gone a little lighter on the glaze) and the Asparagus, which was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Mac and Cheese was also okay, but very rich. To end the meal, they brought out a slice of cheesecake for the birthday guest, and it was pretty tasty. The graham cracker crust became soggy fairly quickly, but the cheesecake itself was good. Overall, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish, and unfortunately not somewhere I'd return to or recommend.x It's a beautiful restaurant though. read more

Monday Happy Hour, We made a reservation for two at 4:30 p.m. and happy hour goes until 6:30 p.m.. I love the vibe at STK, fun, classy, and cool. They have so many photo ops too, definitely Graam worthy. For bites we ordered several happy hour items starting with the oysters which were good I really liked the two sauces that came with them, a vinegar sauce and a cocktail sauce. All we needed was Crystal's hot sauce. We also ordered tots and the wagyu meatballs, They were okay, a little dry and needed sauce. Next up we ordered the be ef quesadillas, steak and frites, and popcorn chicken. I enjoyed the quesadillas the most. The popcorn chicken was okay, I think the bbq sauce made them better. We especially loved the service from Terence. Everyone on the bar team was attentive and professional, but he went out of his way to talk to the kitchen about my food allergy. My boyfriend and I had reservations for our Valentine's Day dinner. The hostesses and our server were extremely friendly, especially during such a busy time. The interior wasn't really my taste as there were flashy neon signs and flimsy leather booths that were falling apart. We were seated at a booth that seemed to have been able to fit a party of 8 (though my boyfriend and I made up just 2). We were also right by the entrance where it was freezing... not very happy about our seats even though we had reservations. We were first served pull apart bread with sour cream and onion butter. The bread was very fluffy, but the butter was horrible. As someone who likes sour cream and onion, this was a disgrace. My boyfriend was excited for the sliders and they were pretty delicious. The aioli complimented the patty very well. Our entrees were pretty tasty and cooked to a medium rare. My boyfriend enjoyed the mash potatoes thoroughly. I thought it could've been better based on the price of the dishes. I felt like I was in a more upscale Apple Bee's. We hope the servers and hosts/hostesses get treated better though. I had such an amazing experience here for my birthday! The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the miso-glazed Chilean sea bass with a side of lobster mac & cheese, and both were incredible. For dessert, I had the apple pie cinnamon crumble, which was the perfect ending to the meal. They also surprised me with a complimentary chocolate chip cookie ice cream for my birthday, which was such a nice touch! Our waiter, Jose, was very friendly and attentive, and the rest of the staff were just as welcoming. Came here for lunch & happy hour with some friends expecting to have some decent service with it being slow on a Saturday. I was left disappointed and I don't normally leave reviews on yelp. The ambience was ok since we sat outside on the patio. The TV by us was turn off even after the host said they would put on the game for us. We ordered drinks before our food but still got our drinks late and after 15 minutes they told us they were out of the drinks we initially ordered so we had to pick again from the menu. The food arrived cold, 30 minutes after we ordered them. The Wagyu tacos were over cooked and dry. Wings were cold and undercooked. Drinks were ok. I requested to modify my cocktail and was denied after they told me they did not have the original drink I previously ordered. We asked for spoons twice and was given utensils wrapped in a napkin with just a fork and knife. Service was extremely slow for a slow restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. If I could go back and speak with the manager regarding all these issues I would. We unfortunately were in a rush due to an event we needed to catch. Location: mere blocks from the Ferry Building and directly across from The One Hotel; STK sits amongst other establishments - Boulevard and Yank Sing just to name a few. What: STK is known mostly as a steakhouse, but American food is at its core. Moody atmosphere in dark lighting, but also whimsical with neon lighted signs and cherry blossoms adorn the restaurant. Service: reservations are available on OpenTable, and walk-in's are welcome. The waitstaff here has always been friendly and conversational. The Food: a paper menu is provided the moment one is seated. All drinks on the menu are priced at $9, with shareable bites $10-$15. Happy hour begins from 4-6:30pm, and we learned while having enjoyed ourselves (having sat for hours); that a second happy hour continues from 9-11:30pm. Beverages: - BlackBerry: I don't quite remember the exact name of the drink, but that I felt it was not sweet enough, and the tajin rim did not go well with the drink at all. - Watermelon Margarita: I was told this is STK's most famous and talked about cocktail and it definitely lived up to its recommendation. The drink itself tasted like nostalgia (like a just sweet enough starburst) in the very best way. - Cucumber Stiletto: while I am not the biggest fan of vodka; I had 3 of this refreshing cucumber and mint forward drink. I had a great time celebrating my wedding anniversary with my husband two days ago. We ordered a ton of food and Diego our server was attentive and friendly! We tried many items on the hh menu but also got the lobster linguine and tomahawk. I would definitely order the lobster linguine again! Yum!! I removed 1 star because of the hostess. I feel she judged us. I checked in for my reservation and my husband wanted me to check if hh was bar only or also at the tables. The hostess mentioned it was bar only, then after a pause she said but if you are ordering entrees then hh at the table is fine too. But I was confused during dinner because while we were eating, the table right next to us only had appetizers and never received any entrees. There was also a table of 4 next to me who only had drinks and I happened to see their check was $85. My husband and I also came in together, spoke to her with him next to me. Service is excellent once you get to sit down. Their reservations system does not guarantee seating at your reserved time. After several conversations, we were seated about 1/2 hour past. I guess for Christmas evening, it's ok. Food is excellent especially all the appetizers.. highly recommend the crab cake with lots of crab and very tasty. Tuna ceviche with taro chips was nice. There were calamari & Wagyu potstickers... all well presented & tasty. The asparagus can be younger and less chewy. The mashed potatoes are smooth but still retains the potato texture; well made. Spinach is pretty good. As for the steak in a steakhouse, I was a little disappointed at the meat temperature prepared. Asked for medium rare on the rare side. I was given medium rare but given medium. For the holiday and a busy kitchen, I didn't send it back. The atmosphere & decor are definitely hip & cool with a live DJ. Really nice service with quick drink refills. My wife had the 6oz a5 picanha which was a nice size for her and was just delicious. The hanger steak was a bit tough, maybe I needed to have it cooked medium instead of medium rare. The filet was perfect. I had a dry aged bone in strip which was perfect. My wife and I enjoyed the oysters and loved the potatoe dishes. My daughters loved the lobster Mac and the fries. The food and service were great but I feel the prices were a little high.
