The pop up patio has 0 ambiance. Plastic tables, $20 cocktail in a plastic glass. The Plastic table was so wobbly we couldn't cut the steak because the drinks were spilling. It was the most disappointing food we have had in years. The menu is so limited and the prices are crazy high, I give the food maybe 2 stars. Came in kind of late (11:15pm) but was not expecting bad service. For a world class establishment like STK I expected so much better. Had to order drinks by twos because no one came and checked on my party for over 20 min. We were literally waving for someone to serve us and everyone looked away LOL!! No manager came by to ask if anyone was ok. By the time we were ordering food it was 11:55pm and the kitchen closed at 12. I really wanted to like this place, really did. I totally get this is the scene place right now, but DAMN I frequent the Beverly Hills STK and have NEVER experienced anything like this. Catch up Toronto! I knew that STK -- especially in Yorkville -- was not my kind of place. It's the kind of place where even when the restaurant is empty at 5:45pm on a weeknight, you have to ask them to turn down the music (it's not that we aren't cool, but we were dining with our baby -- though we aren't cool) and where the Instagram geotags are more about what people are (or aren't) wearing than the food. I've actually been twice. The first time, my low expectations were surpassed: the food was excellent and the service was friendly and competent enough. The second time, however, my steak was not very good (cooked perfectly, just not a particular nice piece of beef) and a salmon main my stepmother ordered was borderline inedible. We had reservations ahead of time for the Summerlicious menu (~$53 pp). Once we arrived, we were told our table was being cleared and we should be seated shortly. A few minutes later, we asked if our table was ready & were told to wait longer. This went on for about 20-30 mins & we felt a little insulted since we noticed others who came after us were seated. Regardless, we didn't make a fuss but waited uncomfortably. To start, I had the wedge salad, which was creamy and filling. For my main, I had steak on a bed of charred lettuce & mashed potatoes, which I enjoyed. Once dessert came, I had low expectations, but it blew my mind. I had the pineapple upside down cake with chantilly cream in a toffee/caramel sauce. The food was delicious & portions were great. Today we celebrated my bestie birthday and couldn't have had a better experience! From the Dj to the waiter to the bust boy customer service was A1. We all had amazing meals and drinks! We had to wait about 15 mins for that bcuz we got fresh bread, but I think it would've been courteous that we were informed that fresh bread would be arriving soon. (I own my own catering business so I'm REALLY BIG on customer/ client service). We started with the shrimp cocktail, they give you three jumbo shrimp. The music here is loud. The place is fun. Service was pretty good. However, take your wallet to the washroom because this is one of the few restaurants in Toronto with a bathroom attendant. The food was pretty good but not great. We ordered the octopus and tuna as appetizers. They were ok. For dinner I had the 20z ribeye. This was quite good. Service is slow, bartenders are unfriendly and blinded by a giant pillar that splits the bar. You are paid to enjoy people's company at the bar!!! OK..I am going to be completely honest with this place Yelpers. This place is not for your average Joe looking for a nice evening. This is quite a different crowd and may not be for everyone. There's a ton of shady characters here and can be uncomfortable. This is a lounge first, pick up spot second, atmosphere third and food last. The prices are quite steep for the items and you will have a much better experience for steak at barbarians, Morton's, la castille or Jacobs. I tried foie gras and their tuna... Which both were 6/10. My buddy tried the steak and he likes it but said the price doesn't warrant the taste. Service here is good... But the wait staff are trained on upselling as they have targets to hit per table as commission is involved. Overall.. Great spot to chill and have some apps and look at some eye candy. read more

THIS is what Winterlicious should be all about! Everything we had this evening was delicious! I ordered the steak tartare and it was the kind with the more substantial morsels of steak, which I like, seasoned well and paired with a great, strong sauce that heightened it - even the little sesame chips (tuiles, as they say) added to the flavor, it was all well thought out. My husband got the salad and damn, I'm not a huge salad fan but it was so good that we felt compelled to ask for what that dressing was. Our server not only mentioned what it was, he went to the kitchen to get the recipe and preparation notes! Nice! Second course was steak, for both of us. To liven things up, we also ordered the sauce plate (an extra $16, but if one planned on coming here again, I guess it gives the benefit of finding My Sauce, but at least for tonight, it was extra entertainment). The cut wasn't great, a la classic Winter/Summerlicious shortcomings, but they were cooked exactly as we'd asked - I even asked for a Chicago rare, and yep, they did it. And come to find out the sauce they default used on the plate was our favorite on the sauce plate, just the regular pan drippings with red wine reduction, which they did really well. Lastly was dessert - he had the apple crumble, and I the créme caramel, and both were stellar, really delicious. Actually, EVERYTHING was really, really delicious. And even the crowd wasn't obnoxious or pretentious, as I know Yorkville can get, though one of the other servers did tell us that brunch gets bougie (extra points for the nice, candid server). THEN, oh boy, the piéce de résistance, the music that we sat down to for our early dinner wasn't all that great, lots of bass and whiney voices (I'm young but that ain't my vibe), but at 6pm or so, when Tony the DJ got up there... man, he was playing some good old, mellow sh*t mixed to match the tastes of today's crowd, and it works. So. Well. He caught me grooving to it, smiled wide and said "What you know 'bout that?" I mean, just such a great spirit, so nicely meshed with the aesthetics of the place... he even came over and we chatted a bit, so very nice, and just made the place over-the-top personable and great. And it wasn't too loud, either - my husband and I were able to carry on a conversation whilst enjoying. When we got up to leave, he played a special song to groove us on out. Largess and class. I can see why this chain is successful - whoever is responsible for the flavor profiles of the food really knows their stuff, the vibe swerves just left of pretentious into actually pretty cool, and they employ some very nice people, which means a lot. Again, this is what Winterlicious is all about - finding that new great place to visit again in the future, or that new great place to tell others about. STK is now one of those places for us. read more

We had oysters as an appetizer but also tried the spanish octopus (not sure if this was in the menu!) Oysters were creamy, fresh and fantastic. Octopus was also on point and incredible - almost too good. Mains included a filet mignon and king crab on top. The steak while tasting good wasn't properly prepared - it was well done on the edges while rare on the inside - making me believe it wasn't brought to room temperature before cooking (hence 3.5* rating on food.). REGARDLESS it was still great and a solid cut of meat. The crab tasted fishy and had an odour to it. The steak portion that I ate with the crab on top had that same taste - it was unfortunate! Drinks included a paper plane and a Manhattan. Both were excellent. I always order my Manhattan's less sweet (I.e. less sweet vermouth) and this one was exactly how it should be made. Service was on point and the wait staff was unassuming, pleasant and attentive. Bravo!! I think STK is top notch and will delight when the food gets perfected. read more

This place is highly talked about and hard to miss being right on the Yorkville strip next to all the designer boutiques, and with good reason. Most of the items are pretty good but there's always room for improvement. Firstly, this place is mainly known for steak so if that's why you're going here, you made a good choice. Me, being myself, decided to get the salmon and have to say it was quite mediocre, and I feel you can get better flavour for much cheaper at somewhere like Cactus Club. It wasn't terrible, but not at the standard of the rest of the restaurant. The chocolate cake was pretty good, but I also believe there's no such thing as a bad chocolate cake. It would've been nice to see some more creative dessert options though. I think their ambience is definitely one of their highlights and I'm sure if you search this restaurant on Instagram you'll know the vibe. Overall, it's definitely worth the experience but be mindful of what you order. read more

I think it's really hard for a spot in Yorkville to get 5 stars because no matter the restaurant, most people think the food is below average and overpriced. Based on previous reviews I had low hopes for STK, but I was pleasantly surprised after tonight's dinner. I had the 10-oz strip loin with pepper sauce and it was perfectly cooked and seasoned, with deliciously rendered fat on one edge and a nice char. Their sides are interesting - fairly different from the usual steakhouse offerings (i.e. baked potato tater tot poutine and crispy shrimp). The mushrooms and asparagus were very good. Aside from the steak, the other highlight was the cookie that comes warm in a mini cast iron pan with vanilla ice cream. The cookie was truly perfection - the cast iron pan gives it a full perimeter of crispy edges and the middle is so chewy and chocolately. Heaven. You should pass on: the parmesan truffle fries, chocolate brownie with ice cream (it's too cakey and not fudgy enough) The restaurant itself is really beautiful with high ceilings and swooping white pillars. The interior is very modern and they had a video booth by the live DJ. Music was great but a bit too loud to have a conversation. The complimentary bread was so fluffy, warm and delicious. For my appetizer, I got the tuna which came with carrot, onion, celery, smoked paprika creme fraiche, olive oil, saffron and crispy garlic. The portion was extremely small but the flavours were good. The highlight was the main course which was the steak. It came with horseradish mashed potatoes, grilled romaine with marjoram butter and espresso jus. The grilled romaine was unbelievable! I never knew lettuce could taste so good. The portion size for the main was the right amount. My dessert was an extremely tiny cheesecake which was made with lime zest, lime puree and graham crust. By the end of my meal, I was satisfied but probably could have eaten some more. Since we went late at night, I think they were starting to get ready for their nightlife. An hip hop and posh ambience on an early Saturday evening! The menu is quite simple as far as steaks are concerned: small, medium and large... pick your sauce, your toppings and sides. The busboy brought over a nicely baked brioche in green onions with pesto sauce and it was wonderful! Twenty minutes later, my filet medallions arrived ad they were spot on with a medium rare filet mignon. Very modern restaurant / supper club where a live Dj is spinning which is why ambiance level gets a 5. Food is subpar for the price. The steak is nothing special, and probably a 6 out of 10. Not horrible but if I am spending top dollar I expect more. Sides are your basic standards sides. Mac and Cheese decent, fries decent, the mushrooms (probably the best) Overall if you are looking for a culinary experience don't come here. If you are looking to catch some great vibes before a night out this is your place. Given the food prices and quality I would just opt to sit in lounge and order some bites vs a full dinner. My husband and I went to STK for my birthday on Friday night and couldn't have picked a better venue to celebrate at. Our server Angela was very attentive and lovely. We received two glasses of complimentary Prosecco as well which was a nice touch. The bread with blue cheese butter was warm, soft and delicious as was the Tuna Tartare and Heirloom Tomato Salad. The steaks were absolutely mouthwatering and we found ourselves eating in absolute silence for a little bit because the food was so good! Music and ambience was great as well. We decided to do winterlicious here, seated right away with our reservation. Decor is very cozy and nice. The music was amazing, 90s hip hop and R&B. The service was great, however the food was meh. I've had better, there's nothing fancy about this place. It's got a lot of hype to it but I don't see why.. we got the 8oz sirloin and it was over cooked. At least our drinks were on point! The only downer here is that neither the quantity or quality of the food reflects the price. Ok, so I will admit it, I walked into STK with an attitude. I did not expect - nor want - to like it. It had struck me as a douchebag magnet, the kind of place where leather faced old men with (much) younger women, and loud mouthed bankers/lawyers try to outspend one another, and where bored looking young women act like they're doing you a huge favour when they seat you or bring your food and drinks. I also expected mediocre, overpriced food. Well, as has happened before, I had to eat my words - quite literally. Although I cannot deny that there was indeed a healthy selection of aforementioned douchebags, the service team was friendly and engaging, and the food was spectacular! We were a group of eight, and everyone tried something different - not one person was disappointed with their order. I had the braised short rib (yes, I love short ribs and will order them every chance that I get) with jalapeño grits, roasted red pepper relish, and red wine glaze and OMG it was one of the best dishes that I've had in the city! Super rich and decadent, and those grits are to die for! For dessert, I had the flourless chocolate cake, which was essentially a chocolate mousse cake. It was a little too creamy and had a bit of a fruity flavour to it (cherry, perhaps?) that I didn't like, but since I was pretty full from dinner, it wasn't too much of a sacrifice to leave most of it uneaten. Next time, I might try the orange dream cheesecake or the seven layer chocolate cake, instead. All of the staff and servers were friendly, attentive and quick. There was a fly covered in salad dressing on our caesar salad. This totally turned my stomach and watching it crawl all covered in parm and creamy dressing made me consider leaving. It was taken from our table and I was surprised that it wasn't comped - we paid full price for the replacement. An exceptional restaurant takes care of unpleasant mistakes with more care. The selection of steaks was fine. Again, not exceptional. The sides were fine. Again, not exceptional. The atmosphere is great if you are looking for a fun, loud place to party and be on the scene. So disappointed with how this place has progressively declined. I've been 6 times since it's opening last November. First 3 were great. Since then it's gone downhill. I love steak. I do not love steak houses. It always feels like you are being done a favour to be served at one. STK did not change my opinion much. It's patrons are a gaudy, preening Yorkville crowd. No one is really there to eat. Perhaps that's why the service is just so underwhelming. STK needs to hire and train their staff to care about their patron and the food they serve, not just look good. Appetizers were mediocre at best. The steak I ate, a dry aged boneless rib, was delicious, however. The only reason I gave STK more than one star. But a delicious steak was not enough to make up for inattentive wait staff and a crowd more interested in the collagen injection they got last week. Any restaurant, especially overpriced steakhouses, need to provide a top experience. STK hits closer to the bottom. I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere. read more

However it looked nothing alike, was dry and tasteless, and was not oven baked like advertised. I decided to give it another go a few weeks later because of a Mac and cheese craving hoping that it may turn out better this time. I even added in the notes for it to be oven baked, and this time it did come oven baked however once again was incredibly dry and tasteless. I've been told from friends of mine that the New York location was poppin and an absolute dream - this was not that at all. It was a much older crowd on a Sunday evening when we went and they played a lot of Taylor Swift lol. The place was surprisingly really empty and we probably didn't even need to make a reservation beforehand. The food was alright. We got the Crispy Shrimp and the Caesar Salad as our apps and although the shrimp was good, the salad could've used half a bottle less of dressing. We both had steaks with mashed potatoes, cooked pretty well but a lot saltier than I expected. The food runner kept getting the orders mixed up and sent the wrong food to our table more than once. I made the reservation on OpenTable and told them it was our anniversary, so they wrote "Happy Anniversary" on the desserts which I thought was super sweet of them. Would I come back? Maybe if it was a free meal because I can't see myself dropping two bills on this mediocre food again. read more

I should have know what to expect. It's called STK. The steaks were VERY mediocre. The service was actually really good. The prices were high. The music was too loud. The atmosphere was cheesy and fake high end/ modern. There were woman looking to get picked up by a fake rich guy or were the arm pieces of flashy fake rich guys....they certainly weren't eating. All the distraction and feigned luxury distracts from the underwhelming food. Go if you're someone's cheating wife, or a whore or interested in picking up one or the other.
