I was excited to try this place. But the food and service really lets down the nicely designed interior. We waited about 10 minutes to see our server, and another 15 minutes to get our drinks. Both of our dinners were very bland. The hot honey chicken sandwich had almost no flavor and if there was hot honey on it, it was only a dab. My wife ordered the gnocchi and it too was in desperate need of salt and in general lacked flavor. On a positive note, the mussels fra diavolo were tasty with a nice kick. It's a great place in the center of Glen Rock. They have shared parking with other stores, but I have always been able to find a spot. The food is tasty and they have a good craft beer selection as well. There is a side room with a sliding barn door that you can rent out for events. Was recommended by a friend to stop by here once the patio area was open and was surprised to see that the place did give enough space between tables, so guests were a decent distance from each other but it was still a cozy atmosphere. The flavors combined in each burger was perfectly balanced. A nice surprise that I haven't seen before was that they have menus that are virtual! You simply point your phone at the QR code and the menu link will pop up! However, that doesn't mean they are drifting from in person, the waiter still takes the order but I thought that was a nice touch for those who are hesitant touching stuff post quarantine. The reason for the 4 and not a complete 5 star rating is due to the drinks coming but there was no alcohol in them. We ordered mojitos and there was not a hint of rum in them. Worked directly with the chef and let him decide what pass-around foods to make. He crushed it with a great mix of appetizers (Smoked Salmon mousse, Grilled peach with Prosciutto, Asian short ribs, Grilled octopus, grilled shrimp---all done with unique twists & presentations). We had several food snobs with the group and they were all impressed. Service was great. We had the upstairs space which has several TV's, shuffleboard, and darts, lots of relaxed seating options and separate bathrooms. The service was terrible. It took a long time to get our drinks and a long time to get our meals. My wife and I ordered fish and chips. Obviously the fish was frozen. There were three small pieces of fish less than 3 inches in length, and it tasted mushy. The shoestring french fries were terrible. The best thing there are the onion rings. The sandwiches were not on sourdough, but the bread was so burned that I really couldn't tell what it was. The meat was dry, tasteless and chewy, with barely any cheese. Looking back, what I should have done was called over the manager and dared him to take a bite. Nobody in their right mind would have. The service is rough. Walked in to an warm and energetic feel on a cold Friday night. Perfect. The staff and owner were friendly, helpful and super welcoming. We all tried a different craft brew to start and were 3 for 3. All delicious. Whoever is picking the selection knows what they are doing! We share a series of small plates with the pulled pork poutine and corn dog kielbasa as real standouts. I also tried the Kale salad which can often be a snoozefest, but this was crisp and yummy with the bite of an apple and blue cheese. First time visiting this establishment. Started off with the tap water served in a glass jug. Took only one sip because it had a weird aftertaste. I'm giving 2 stars because my husband enjoyed the Hackensack beach badge lager, that he ordered another. However the food was not impressive at all. We ordered the fried pickles appetizer. There was so much breading you couldn't really taste the pickles. We also had the Shredded Beef Grilled Cheese and Pulled Pork Poutine. The shredded beef in the grilled cheese was somewhat dry and the sandwich didn't have the cheese pull characteristic of a grilled cheese --it only had 2 thin slices of cheese. And the Pulled Pork Poutine, wasn't even Poutine. Instead of pulled pork, it was shredded beef, with a thin smattering of mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top, and NO pan gravy or cheese curds. It's nicely decorated and I thought it wasa nice though to have lights near the ceiling depicting the spots along the NJ transit Bergen line. Started with their tuna tartare, which was very good. Truly one of the most disappointing dining experiences that I've ever had and I have dined inside of a McDonalds before. While we were waiting 55 minutes for a cheese board the couple seated next to us got served immediately and the manager sat with them the whole time not tending to the fact that we waited an hour for a Kraft cheese cheese board. If you are thinking about ordering the tuna tartar just don't - unless you're trying to get mercury poisoning. It was served smelling like the low tide jersey shore ocean and w out any dressing or soy sauce as advertised. We sent it back. Wine and beer were good as they were manufactured outside of this restaurant. I received said burger with a half hearted attempt at scraping the onions off. I sent it back and recieved the same plate, bun and all, with a better attempt at scraping. In fairness the manager appologized but at that point I lost my appetite. He said they fired up a new burger...but you reuse the bun??? Disgusting.
