Tried this place out for the first time tonight and it was AMAZING. We ordered the tri-tip meal for two which was a pound of meat, a side (we chose quinoa), a small salad, and 4 breadsticks. The setup of this place is different. Kind of like sizzler used to be... order at the counter, be seated, then your food is brought to you. Some things were unclear, like the fact that we needed to get our own drinks and silverware. The counter to order was also confused - people moving to the front in front of people etc. Not that big of a deal, and the kinks may get worked out as they mature as a staff. Food was mostly good. We had: BBQ chicken salad, tri tip, ribs, chicken, salmon, Ceasar salad, garden salad, bread sticks, roasted cauliflower, kids mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, and a brownie between the 7 of us. Almost across the board, all items needed salt and extra sauces, be it dressing or BBQ sauce. Tri tip got mixed reviews, most agreeing it was much better with bbq sauce. The small BBQ chicken salad was large enough for 2 to share as an entree. Cauliflower was good but the tahini sauce was not favored by all. Everyone loved the mashed potatoes. Breadsticks were nothing to crave, but fine. Salmon and chicken and ribs were enjoyed. Kids mac n cheese was a large portion but not "saucy" enough for my 3 year old. Oh and they forgot her milk, which we didn't notice until we were leaving. :( The biggest bummer? My sister's portion of tri-tip was not delivered with the rest of the food. We mentioned several times to passing waiters. Never arrived. About 20 mins later, my dad went to the kitchen window to check on it. They had the tri tip ready but not the side they said.... um ok? Not acceptable. They did offer her a dessert to say sorry, but she couldn't accept due to dietary restrictions. So we ate her brownie, lol. Brownie was nothing exciting - heavy on sugar and not fudgy. I like the majority of the food, and would try again, but if service doesn't improve soon, it will sink them. read more

We walked in right before noon on a Sunday and the restaurant was already getting pretty busy. Luckily we didn't have to wait in line for long and was able to order right away. My son has peanut, egg, and sesame allergy and the staff was extremely diligent in checking the allergen information for me and the manager directly spoke with us and informed us that they took food allergies very seriously which almost made me cry. Anyone that has food allergy or cares for someone that does knows it's really hard to eat out so we were so happy to have found a place that could work with us. We placed a fairly large order for our party of 8 and all of the food tasted fresh and yummy. The only thing that was a little off was the items came out in random order and sometimes far apart from one another. For example we receive the pizza pretty quickly but our meats took another 15-20 mins after that. It wasn't a big deal for us but we did wonder more than once if part of our order was forgotten. I visited the restroom...and had to pass over a stall -its state was so offensive. This place has a lot of potential and the decor inside is pretty impressive compared to what it used to look like when it was On The Border. I ordered a Jeannette Mediterranean Chicken Salad which I ended up not liking as a failed to notice that said salad is made with kale which is not a favorite of mine, they were really nice though and allowed me to switch it to a Greek salad instead. We also shared the ribs which looked amazing but turned out to be just average, in general all of the food we got was average considering the $42 cost. Picked up a large order for Boss's Day. The place was packed. Very nice set up inside. Placed an online order the day before. I had to wait on my order just a few minutes as they were so busy. Staff was super nice and very efficient. Order was correct and put together nicely. Portions are good. Trip tip and chicken are good. Mashed potatoes, beans and salads are good as well. The cheese cake and carrot cake are some of the best I've ever had. The CONS of my order were the Mac and cheese (I've had better frozen) and the RIBS. The RIBS are god awful!!! Would give ten stars if I could! Attended Graduation at Glen Helen yesterday which went long...everyone including our Grad was starving afterwards. Found Stonefire was not too far. They show closing time at 9:30 so we called and asked if they would still serve us if we got there by 9:30. Manager said no problem and true to their word! We had a large party and they were able to seat us! Service great, food great! While we were there a few others came in from same Graduation and they served everyone who came in. We also ordered half order of chicken since we had nothing to eat all day! First off, the line was out the door which was a bit surprising since we go there just a little after 5 pm. The line moved quickly and we were able to find a booth. The ambience was nice. It was busy but it wasn't noisy. The food itself was really good. SO. DELICIOUS! I got the Stonefire's BBQ Chipped Salad and it blew my mind! For it being a "smaller" salad, there was still enough to feed two people. The flavor was amazing, the tri-tip was absolutely delicious. You cannot beat the price especially for the amount of food you get. The only thing I wasn't so crazy about was their set-up. It looks like a nice sit down restaurant but you have to order first and then they tell you where your table is. Kind of like the food court or Home Town Buffet? Their tri-tip is better tasting than other restaurants who offer similar dishes (Lucille's, Famous Dave's, etc.) and their pizza is fresh made. I have been to Stonefire Grill several times since it first opened. I have to say every single time I have gone the service has been second to none. I chose this place for my birthday dinner last night. To my surprise there were close to 20 of my friends and family when I arrived. They sat us in a private area in the back. Most of my guest had not been there before and let me tell you every single one of them loved their food. Every single one. No complaints whatsoever. I was so so happy that everyone enjoyed. When we arrived the lady who took our name didn't tell us we had to order when our name was called(Being that it was our first time).They did take us to our table but we had to go back in the front to order our food. Food was really good and the price made it even better. So why the 3 stars? Well, we went on a Saturday. Line was out the door. Why? The ordering service is like that of fast food. Go up to the counter order what you want from a menu on the wall and pay then you sit and wait for the food.
