I really enjoyed my first visit to the Stonefire Grill in Valencia, but the setup was rather confusing - even though I went with a large group of people (11) most of whom had been there before and were quick to explain the procedure. I gather it could be pretty frustrating if you just walk in off the street clueless so I'll try to guide you through the confusing part. When you walk into the restaurant you'll find yourself in a big open foyer with a mass of people lined up in front of you. You're not waiting to be seated, you're actually waiting in line to order at a counter, so find one of the folded menus to start perusing because when you make it to the front of the line, the cashier is going to expect you to be ready to order, including all of your side dish options. It took a little while to get this part clear, as I'd been just chit-chatting with friends assuming there'd be plenty of time at the table to figure out what I wanted to eat. Once you've ordered and paid, you are handed your drink cup and a number and told that you can choose your own table anywhere you like. Take it from me, your first move should be to make a beeline towards the left just past the soda fountains to collect your plate, silverware, and napkins before you start looking for your table. Having you get your own plates and utensils is apparently one of the ways that they economize. If you know to get them on the way it's not bad, but if you wait for the food to be delivered THEN go traipsing off to find them it can be a bit annoying. There are plenty of tables inside and quite a few on the outside patio area. They also have portable heaters outside that take the chill off a brisk spring evening quite nicely. The atmosphere is pretty casual, my group arrived after a long day of sampling all the high thrill roller coasters at Magic Mountain amusement park a little the worse for wear, but we didn't feel out of place. You can order family style meals (ie- a whole chicken with a bowl full of salad and breadsticks) or individual meals. They appear to be known for their fresh grilled barbecue chicken, tri-tip, and ribs; though they were out of ribs at 7:45 PM on the evening we visited. I ordered the 1/4 chicken and tri-tip combo individual meal with the Mesquite BBQ chicken and the Cracked Pepper Garlic Tri-tip. It came with a choice of salad (I chose Greek) and 2 freshly baked breadsticks for $10.99. The chicken was tender and moist with the skin a perfect texture. I asked for the tri-tip to be on the RARE side of medium rare and it arrived medium rare but was almost melt in your mouth tender so I didn't mind too much. The Greek salad had a sassy little dressing and plenty of feta and kalamata olives. The salad veggies were crisp and fresh and I finished every morsel. The breadsticks were pure garlicky goodness. I ate way too much and didn't regret it at all. There were people in our party that ordered the pizza and said they'd absolutely recommend it. One person got the Lemon Garlic and said that while it was nice and garlicky, that they felt the lemon flavor was a bit lacking. They had no problem accommodating our party of 11 since we'd called ahead and they put a reserved sign on a group of tables they pushed together for us. It was good BBQ grill food at a very affordable price in a casual relaxed atmosphere. If it wasn't so far from home (an hour and a half) I'd probably be eating here quite a bit! read more

Aaaamazing!! I ordered their take out for a family birthday party of about 10 people. They bill nearly killed me but it was totally worth it, I just wish we had gone inside to eat it while it was fresh and piping hot! The ribs and mashed potatos are delish! Just becareful of the whole garlic cloves in the potatos. Prime rib was dripping with flavor and was well package to preserve my car while in transit! Which means a lot!!! (Nothing worse than getting in your car days later to find out it still smells like food!) Lastly their salad was by far the best salad I've had in some time! It had plenty of mixed greens, slices of avocado and meat of our choice, along with dressing that didnt over power the taste of the meat but was just enough to light up the flavor of the salad. I have been here several times, and have tried quite a few of their choices, as my fiance and I decided to select Stonefire to cater our wedding - and we wanted to sample a ton of their food to pick the best options! Here are my favorites (all will be at the wedding :) 1. BBQ Chicken - the chicken is super flavorful and moist. The BBQ sauce is awesome 2. BBQ Tri Tip - SUPER flavorful. Definitely order this if you are looking for some good steak 3. BBQ Chopped Chicken Salad - GREAT salad! This could easily be a meal by itself - really filling and delicious! 4. Breadsticks - GREAT (garlic...mmmmmmm) As a side note for the catering - they have been EXTREMELY helpful on the phone with placing our order for the wedding. It is clear they have the catering side of their business down to a science, and I really look forward to the experience. Solid food with big portions! Everything I've ever tried here has been delicious. Bread Sticks: long breadsticks with garlic, cheese, and herbs drizzled on top. Very fresh and buttery. Tastes awesome when dipped into the sweet barbecue sauce. I could just eat baskets upon baskets of these. Tomesto Pasta: Penne with half pesto and half tomato sauce. Great for people who like to switch up flavors. Serves as great balance and contrast to each other. Fill up on some zesty tomato pasta then switch it up and eat some creamy, aromatic pesto pasta. Garlic Mashed Potatoes: Very garlicky, buttery, and cream cheesy. Mashed potatoes are well-mashed. Tastes even better when you mix in some sweet barbeque sauce. Tri Tip: Tender and fresh. Outside has a nice salty crust, while the inside is usually cooked to medium rare, leaving some pink parts. I love stone fire grill because of the ribs and tri tip. Today I went in because I wanted to grab some lunch for my co worker and I and she has never had it before. I ordered two lunch specials the petite bbq chopped salad and the chicken tortilla soup with salad and went on my way. I came to my office and started eating and I noticed my soup had hardly any chicken in it. I was really bummed out because I felt like I ate more soup than chicken. I do love stonefire and this was my first time having the soup. Next time please add a bit more chicken because it did not really fill me up. Yeah, grilled food doesn't get much more rockin' than this. I haven't eaten at Stonefire Grill in two weeks, and I'm still jonzin' for their BBQ sauce. Two buddies of mine and I shared a tri tip, and a salad. I could have kept eating all day, but I will admit that their portions went pretty far amongst three big guys. Sharing a tri tip and a salad came out to only $30 so it wasn't hard on the wallet. As usual I found a great spot to eat, and it appears to be yet another police officer hang out. This one officer walked into the restaurant with four guns strapped to his hip, chest, and thighs AND he had a tazer on the other hip. This guy was packin'. Maybe we just didn't do it right. Maybe I didn't have a crew to feed. But it was lunchtime and there were only two of us. He ordered the penne with meat marinara sauce. I ordered the "small" Cobb Salad. The salad was chopped into the absolute tiniest of tiny pieces, with hints of many different lettuces inside. The pieces I'm sure had other things too like tomato, some onion, etc. The whole thing was like a soggy blob. They literally could have put it on the plate with an ice cream scoop. In addtion, the flavor was very bland and uniform for the whole salad. I wantd to say it looked like the lettuce had been frozen / unfrozen but it didn't have that overwhelming of any taste so i could not really tell. I could not discern any dressing on it. It tasted just OK. And it was HUGE. Part of my frustration was also that I would have preferred to order a salad / sand combo or something that gave me a choice to eat besides this gigantic soggy salad, but the way the menu works, I'd hung my hat on this giant salad that just DIDN'T kill it. So I picked through it for my chicken pieces, a few bits of egg and cheese, then brought the rest home to rot in my fridge. As for his penne, it was also huge. And overall it did not have enough sauce for the penne. He ate it, picking the meat parts and leaving a lot of leftover penne as well. I'm sure I could have made something that tasted just as good at home in less time and cost less. The tri-tip was pretty good and tender but the problem is that my dad makes the best dang tri-tip on the planet, nothing compares. You know, that perfect crust on the outside with a slight pink, juicy, tender center. Stonefire's tri-tip is so soft it's almost mushy. I'm wondering if they use some kind of chemical tenderizer?? I've lived in Santa Clarita for 3yrs and only recently tried Stonefire. I tried it 2x in the last week in hopes that I could use them to cater my backyard wedding in September. I wasn't that impressed. The salads have that "bagged" taste, like preservatives. The chicken was what upset me the most. I ordered a chicken breast and it came sliced on the platter. I looked at it and tasted it and to me, it doesn't taste "BBQ'd". I ended up asking about it and was told that they cook it in the broiler overnight and then " finish" it on the grill. THAT IS NOT BBQ chicken. They do the same with the ribs. My partner ordered a pizza last night and it was burnt. It was so busy that she didn't bother to bring it back, she just suffered thru. I came in today at 2:00pm and ordered a salad for take out, I waited a very long time and didn't leave the restaurant until 2:50pm. I'm giving 2 stars because of their service, they kept reassuring me my salad was coming but I honestly don't know why it took 50 minutes to make a petite salad. A little disappointed. read more

Stonefire Grill, how do I hate thee? Let me count the ways... NOISY, and I like boisterous restaurants. However, the combination of bare concrete floors, bare plaster ceilings, mostly unupholstered furniture, and the preponderence of "families" (that means screaming children of all ages) is overwhelming. Oh yeah, the food: It is OK if you are not expecting too much, the same pseudo BBQ that Rattler's and other shortcut places serve up. Same ownership as Rattler's too. I guess to the overloaded parents of their voracious spawn, this is a treat of some kind. read more

To the un-initiated: it's basically like a nice cafeteria. We were a bit surprised to find that out (had never been there) but that's totally fine, we gave it a try. They didn't get our order right despite repeating it back to us. You serve yourself here, you actually go get your plates, your napkins, your silverware, your drinks. No problem, the prices are VERY low. The food came. It was good, all things considered. It was not fancy and certainly not what one would expect at a fine restaurant, but for the price and the fact that the place is basically like a cafeteria, they did fine. I had rigatoni, my wife ended up getting chicken breast. We were also given bread sticks. It's all fine, I'd come back. This is a good place to get a quick dinner because you don't want to do dishes tonight, but you don't want to "go out" dressed up and drop forty to sixty on really good food. I've had to order out every single night being able only to palette a few things, the staff here is absolutely amazing! They've messed up my order twice and both times taken care of me entirely because of it! Used to like this place but service sucks! If I could I would put no stars. After waiting forever we got seated in the sun asked to move to another table was told yes. Another extremely rude customer was told to sit there. They were a party of 2 we were a party of 4 (party of 2 table was open around the corner), we were there 1st. The servers let them have it because the women were aggressive and flat out rude. We sat outside in the 105 heat and had to go inside everytime we needed anything, including our 50+ order. Sadly, they have lost my love. We were there when they unlocked the door at 11 AM Friday for lunch. My husband ordered a hamburger, my friend ordered soup and salad and I got the lunch salad with salmon. My salmon/salad came in 15 minutes, my friends salad shortly after. About 15 minutes later I went to find out about the hamburger order and the manager said they were swamped and running behind. Of course I mentioned we were the 2nd customer through the door. Ten minutes later the burger arrived along with a refund and he asked, "Is there anything else?" My friend said she was still waiting on her soup. So in a few minutes her soup arrived. I wouldn't complain but our threesome ate there a few months ago and the individual pizza lunch came well after the others were finished eating. Disappointing salads the last few times we have come here. Today the Greek Salad was lacking in dressing - no taste, had a few broken up pieces of what may have been Kalamata olives, and no cheese. While it's great they have a nice selection of salads to choose from, Urban Cafe is doing a better job in just making a good salad. The BBQ chicken and cauliflower were both good, but when the sever asked if we wanted our desert item now and we said yes, she never re-appeared. Stonefire Fat Ribs... Baby back ribs... Yeah, right! Large pork ribs that are tough with a huge layer of fat. Tough tri-tip that was ordered rare that had a strip of fat down the entire middle. Ordered a cobb salad with oil vinaigrette that was bland. Ordered two full meals for four people to go. Paid $60 and we didn't finish it. Total waste of money. Cheapest cuts of meat at premium prices. This is the last time that I patronize this "restaurant". 1 star is too generous. In the last month, I've called the Valencia location twice to place take out orders. The first time I was told it would be an hr and half. All I wanted was a salad. So I went somewhere else. The second time was on New Years Eve I called 2 hrs before I even wanted the order since all the online options kept canceling or orders. When I called the store I got a call service not the location, they informed me there were no more times slots available for pickup. I called in at 5:45pm for a 7:30 to 7:45 pickup after spending 30 mins online with 2 different services (stonefire directly and uber eats) trying to order. I asked to speak with the Valencia store, since them having no time slots for pickup seemed ridiculous. I was transferred to the store to sit on hold for 10 mins before someone answered. But when someone finally answered I was told it would be 45mins to an hr, I said that was fine. She then said she needed to place me on hold to go to a computer to place my order, which didn't make much sense but I agreed. Let's just say she never came back, I sat on hold for an additional 38 mins after she placed me on hold. I've been a loyal customer for many years and have never experienced such horrible customer service. You could always call in an hr before and get your order small or large. Clearly not the case anymore! To top it off their prices have gone up significantly and the portions have gotten smaller. Needless to say we got food somewhere else, but completely messed up our entire dinner plans. I sat on hold because I wanted to see how long they would leave me there. read more

I will never eat at this place again. I normally have good experiences at all of the other stone fire grills EXCEPT thus one. If I give a review I'm either really pleased or extremely dissatisfied. First I ordered the grilled shrimp. The shrimp was this disgusting moldy black color. I asked for a manager. This Manager with long dark hair comes over and tries to tell me that the shrimp wasn't molded just undercooked. The shrimp WAS BLACK! I've never in my experiences of eating out had black shrimp or seafood. She then asks me if I want them to remake it. I said NO of course, because it's obvious something was wrong with the shrimp and I wasn't going to take a chance ordering it again. So I said I would take the salmon instead. The salmon is brought out by a runner and not the manager. The manager NEVER came back to check and see how I was doing. Any respectable restaurant I have worked and eaten in, when there is a problem with the food the manager makes SURE to not only come back and make sure my second dish was fine, but they mostly always comp the meal as a courtesy for having messed up. In this instance of receiving disgusting BLACK shrimp I thought they should have. So since the manager never returned to check on me, I had to flag down one of the runners and request the difference for what I paid for the shrimp vs salmon. You would expect a RESPECTABLE establishment that the manager would take the initiative to do that AT LEAST. Nope! Once I finished my meal I requested a comment card to leave from one if the employees. Some other manager (a blonde lady) comes over and proceeds to tell me they don't have any and to go online. This place is the WORSE! The management is horrible in how they treat guests who have had bad experience with their food. I have been to fast food places with better care and service for their customers. If I could give this place NO STAR that would be accurate. read more

I pretty much gained 20 lbs in college... all thanks to Stonefire. It was worth it! I live up in NorCal now (aka the land of NO Stonefire!) and I wish on my lucky star every night that this blessed establishment would branch up to the Bay. My order is the same every time: --small (big enough to share between 4 college girls) BBQ chopped tri-tip salad --half basket of breadsticks SLATHER on that delicious BBQ sauce and forget your troubles for the next 10-20 minutes of pure gastronomical delight. On big group dates, you want to bump your salad up to a medium and add mashed potatoes, more breadsticks, and some bomb cheesecake or carrot cake for dessert. The beautiful thing about Stonefire is that it's not only the most delish food ever, it's also super affordable, the restaurant is very clean, and the service is great. (I've noticed in my last couple SoCal trips that they've done away with the ketchup-bottles for the BBQ sauce. And from reading below it looks like they now charge for the BBQ sauce. BE WARNED: this is not what you think it will be. If you read these reviews there is some very crucial info left off. Especially if you have kids. So let's get started... You have to know you want to order BEFORE you even enter the place. Once you get in, you are sent straight to registers where you order & pay for your entire meal. Don't you think this is something that should have been mentioned on these posts? I DO. It would have been great to know I would need to order for my kids & befuddled husband who was helping me wrangle said kids whilst we had thirty seconds to take a jab at the offerings on the menu. We are no boy scouts, we were not prepared. All of that rushing to order, pay, hear there is basically no beer said the usual suspects to choose from, find out there are no substitutions for the breadsticks to get mashed potatoes but you can cancel the breadsticks & still get a side of mashed for an additional price, not even think about a dessert but are still stuck on rare or med. (I went for rare which was right - it came med. rare as I suspected it would), handed a number, wrangling kids who are in a restaurant but still not sitting anywhere, told to go sit anywhere & grab all of your plates, utensils, waters, BBQ sauces on the way it was no wonder we ate & were ready to leave in 30 minutes! It was crazy, seriously. Bottom line: the food was tasty. My meat was awesome, the mashed was yummy, the food came quick & everyone was nice. But man, it was no night out. It was a cranked up version of fast-casual set in a restaurant atmosphere, save for all the people milling about refilling their drinks, grabbing to-go containers, getting more sauce, plates, utensils, etc...We were at a pricier In-and-Out dressed as a Chipotle pretending to be a sit-down establishment. Know before you go, & you will be fine! Not sure we will return. Just wanted to vent my frustration with Stonefire grill. I ordered a family meal to go which consisted of a half chicken, a half of a tri tip, a dozen breadsticks and a salad which I up graded to a bar b que chopped salad. The meal was $50.25 which I felt was a little steep, but it was for a special occasion. I picked it up at 11:30 and was home by 11:40 and we got down to eat it right away. The tri tip was cold and very chewy, like eating leather, and the chicken was cold and had no taste. We just celebrated my daughter's Sweet 16 this past weekend and she had requested Stonefire Food for the party... Boy, am I glad she did!! The entire process was seamless and the food was absolutely fantastic! From the very first phone call, I could tell I was dealing with a company that takes customer service seriously. They were extremely helpful in the decision making process and even made suggestions about popular packages for teenagers. They walked me through the entire process and confirmed the order... I was assured that they would be calling a few days before to go over the order one last time and they did! This may seem like a simple thing, however not all vendors are created equally in the communication department. We had arranged for a 5:00 delivery and needed it to be right on time (it was a surprise party!) and sure enough... It was! The delivery staff pulled up at exactly 5:00 and was very helpful as well. He set up all the food for us and even tossed the salad. After making sure everything was good to go, he was on his way. And then, of course, there is the little detail about food quality and taste... It was out of this world! Tasty, fresh and just as we ordered it. The tri-tip was melt-in-your-mouth fantastic and the lemon garlic chicken was amazing! I have mixed feelings. We had a Stonefire family dinner post a busy afternoon picking up a few gifts at Macy's on Black Friday. I am not a Black Friday shopper but I did have a few gifts to buy and coupons to use so I sacrificed a few Black Friday hours and joined the crowds. I forgot how hungry shopping can make you. With the money I had saved, we had just enough for a cheap dinner for 4. My uncle suggested one of their favorites at work, Stonefire. I have been pleased with the salads and catering at Stonefire but this was my first dining experience at their restaurant. Parking was easy and readily available with spots surrounding the restaurant. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess who told us we had a table reserved for us. We walked to the table and waited for about 10 minutes before something seemed wrong. No one was serving us! It turned out we had to order the food beforehand. This reminded me of a cafeteria for families. It was a bit peculiar but it worked out and I suppose it helps save some time. Just don't go here expecting a full service experience. I love having family dinners so it felt like I was at home except that the restaurant was full of strangers. I had a very odd experience trying to adjust to all the feelings. Overall, it worked once we got used to it and I retrieved everyone's dinnerware and beverages easily as even the utensils are serve yourself. When the food came out, we had a feast. We decided on the Lemon Garlic Chicken since we all love Garlic. The sauce did not disappoint. The chicken was almost too soft to the point of mushy but as I enjoy the white meat, that didn't affect my experience. It was interesting to note though, I wonder if the chicken was brined, steamed or pressure cooked and then finished on the grill. What did it for me that night was the delicious lemon garlic oil sauce, it was divine. Honestly, I can understand why in French Cuisine there is a chef just for sauces, you cannot go wrong with a basic protein if you have a fabulous sauce. We garnished it with extra lemon. Our Salad of choice was Caesar and it was absolultely delicious with the Chicken. The breadsticks were pleasant but could have been better, maybe we just needed them warmer. Overall, this was pleasant and great for a cheap dinner out withe family, once we adjusted to the cafeteria style set-up under the guise of a sit-down restaurant. After a day @ Hurricane Harbor, we weren't looking forward to hotel food, even though the restaurant at our hotel (Embassy Suites) is pretty good. So we saw the ad for the Stone Fire Grill in one of the hotel magazines. The Stimulus Package special is was caught our attention. So we piled into the cars, but before we left..one of us read the fine print...the Stimulus Package special (1/2 order tri-tip or a 1/2 a slab or ribs, a 2 topping pizza, salad, 8 breadsticks) is for take out orders only. Just keep that in mind if you go. This was fine with me, I didn't feel like leaving the hotel anyway. So the wife went out, picked up the food, and brought it back. One of the staff members (thanks enrique!) at the Embassy Suites let us use the tables on the patio to crush our take out. The food? screamin good! it had the 3 major elements.... quality, quantity, and price. We ended up getting 2 Stimulus Specials (1/2 tri-tip, 1/2 slab of ribs 2 pizzas, 2 salads, and 2 orders of breadsticks) Tri-tip came with gorgonzola butter and bbq sauce (your choice). The food was tasty, plentiful, and didn't cost much. Kids were happy.... wife was happy... and I tore it up. If you're a BBQ snob, go somewhere else. But if you're tired from a day of Magic Mountain or Hurricane Harbor, and just wanna feed the family? Hit the Stone Fire Grill. read more

This is one of the better places in SCV. It's in a strip mall (of course) and it's always super packed for lunch. They have two large rooms with lots of tables, though I think they could have streamlined the entrance to the place. You order at the cashier, and they give you a number and tell you to go sit somewhere. I've seen elderly people sit down and look around like crazy for a waiter, so don't be like them OK? The food comes out pretty quickly. My favorite thing is the southwest chicken salad, which I always get without tortilla strips because I think they aren't really very good in it. The salad has lots of veggies and pretty good lettuce, and the feta/avocado/pepitas mix that they use is awesome. My family basically lived at this place when the parents were remodeling the kitchen in their house, so I guess it must be good! Great place for an in and out lunch the food is good and the service is prompt. Confused on what you should order and it is your first time? And you're with a group? You're in luck go family style (it really is the best way to go) get the Tri-Tip with the lemon garlic sauce, and the BBQ chicken with a side of mac-n-cheese, and the cartwheel salad (beware their sizes are huge!)... DON'T LEAVE OUT THE BREAD STICKS! Oh you're here by yourself? And trying to be healthy? Get the Salmon plate it'll fill right up. Yuck I don't like fish. I hate this place so much, every time I go, I ALWAYS finish my plate. No but seriously, stone fire is DELICIOUS. Honestly, I've never had a complaint with their food, or the quality. The only thing I could think of bringing to attention would be the not-so-consistent attentiveness of the wait-staff. But hey! The restaurant gets busy, so not even that is worth a star de-bunk!
