I love the tri-tip BBQ chopped salad. If you can resist the urge to smoother it in ranch dressing or pair it with their delicious bread sticks then it is actually healthy and reasonably low calorie. Their desserts are fabulous and cheap. (Accept the brownie that isn't that good.) I also hear there pizza is great but I cant stop ordersing the chopped salad so I don't know. We have eaten here since their inception. Many a memory. Always good food and value. Today, however; ordered the tossed tritip salad with a bbq chicken breast side. Well, the breast was remarkably small and dry. The amount of tritip on a "shareable" salad was equal to one half to three quarters of a cup. The overall salad, tossed, was about a pound of lettuce and fixings. Doing the math leads me to believe that other customers accept sub quantities in lieu of appearances. Quality and appropriate quantities sell the package. Management needs or should monitor the end results as this dictates overall success. The Santa Clarita Valley certainly has no shortage of food purveyors. We will look or seek better results. Sad to say good bye to them and rattler's. read more

This isn't a destination restaurant for me, but it's perfectly adequate, especially when I want a large to-go order for the family or I'm running errands and need a place for lunch. I like their roasted chicken well enough, which is my favorite thing to eat almost anywhere. But it's the Caesar Salad that has disappointed me. I'm ever in search of wonderful Caesar Salads, so I order them everywhere I go. It's surprising how hard it is to get a good one, given that it has essentially only four ingredients, including the dressing. And it's the dressing that Stonefire does well. It has very good flavor and just the right "garlic quotient" for my taste. It's the other three ingredients-romaine, Parmesan cheese and croutons-that disappoint. They serve a huge amount of lettuce, but the Parmesan and croutons are not generous enough to create the proper balance of ingredients. Parmesan is supposed to be an actual ingredient of the salad, not simply a light garnish. Consider ordering extra cheese. The croutons aren't anything special and you'll probably want to order extra of those as well. But the really annoying thing is the way the romaine lettuce is prepared. It's sliced across the head into very long, very thin strips that simply refuse to go into the mouth without making a mess. Properly prepared romaine lettuce is torn by hand into bite sized pieces, not shredded almost like a cabbage for cole slaw. I usually order my Caesar Salads with chicken. At Stonefire, I order a roasted half chicken and shred it over the salad myself rather than order the grilled chicken breast, which can be over grilled and dry. The salad is large enough that, with the half chicken, it can be shared or the extra can be packaged to take home for another meal. If you're in the mood for dessert, the brownies can be good. But they aren't made on site and the quality can vary. I like them best when they're fudgy on the inside, but the last time I was there, about two weeks ago, they were on the dry side for my taste. The last 2 times I have ordered and taken home my Cesar salad has been horrible (not the dressing just the salad).The first time 1/2 of the salad was not even chopped and had 4 croutons, then today I had most of the lettuce wilted and soggy with no cheese and soggy croutons. The plates came with a small individual sides that were very large you can share (My kind of sides!) and they were all so good the salad, the coleslaw and the garlic mashed potatoes all delicious and breadsticks with the order as well. Loved this place! I had a friend who kept recommending I try this place whenever I passed through Valencia. Well it finally worked out for my husband and I to go and we were so happy we stopped. Between the two of us we tried the lemon garlic chicken breast with garlic mashed potatoes, Tri-tip with amazing blue cheese garlic butter, teriyaki salmon, and Cesar salad. My dad was a little frustrated with the ordering process which he said was wildly complex. I don't know because I was holding the table. Ted ordered the trip tip. I thought it was better than most trip tip I have had (because I'm not too fond of trip tip). I can see how people would eat this one though, slathered in BBQ sauce as it is. Ted really enjoyed it. Dad had the salmon with some beans on the side. It looked yummy, but Dad didn't have much to say about it. Oh well. I had the fiesta. It's a great big salad (even though I ordered the small) with avocado, chicken and other good stuff in it on a "tortilla." Well, the menu said tortilla but really it was tortilla chips. The Stonefire's Favorite pizza is my favorite. (With our homemade pesto, avocado, red onion, mozzarella and Feta cheese -topped with fresh basil.) $17 for the large. Dunk that in some barbecue sauce, and you're stoked. The breadsticks, garlic mashed potatoes, and the garden salad are also favorites. The last time I went here was for a Father's Day lunch - not on actual Father's Day though, because I wasn't in town on actual Father's Day. I hadn't been to Stonefire for a few years. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite live up to the quality I had remembered. The garden salad had no dressing on it - at least no dressing that any of could actually taste. So, we had to go back and get a bunch of sides of dressing. The Stonefire's Favorite pizza was way more oily than I remember it being. It was like they put more olive oil on top or something. Not great. Service was good, but people KEPT coming and asking if we were doing okay. To the point where I was wondering if it was a joke for them to keep sending new people to check on us. Mmmmm I think the thing I love most about stonefire (aside from the mashed potatoes, trip tip and salads) is the BBQ sauce. When I worked for the City of Santa Clarita we used to get everything catered by Stonefire and I would soak everything in BBQ! It's great! When it is catered it is perfect too because you don't have to go through the craziness of actually going to the restaurant! So the food gets a 4! The restaurant however is very crowded (lines are long too), noisy, you have to wait awhile for your food and it is expensive. I'd give the dining experience a 2.5. The food has always been consistently delicious and a great value throughout the years. The real praise should go to the managers and servers here. I sat next to a couple that constantly made scam BS complaints in order to get free food, saying that it was too cold, too hot, tasteless, burnt etc making the server go back and forth. In case you didn't know, I love me some BBQ. With that said, I'm a pretty harsh critic when it comes to it. Although Stonefire is so much more than just BBQ, they do it very well. I love the Tri-tip here, melts in your mouth and the sauce is sweet and tangy and oh-so-delicious. It's also really good with the garlic and gorgonzola butter, possibly better than the BBQ. They also do chicken in the same fashion and haven't managed to mess it up for me yet. The customer service here is excellent. The managers actually take the time to walk the dining room floor to see if everyone's dining experience is good. If it's not, they make sure that they do whatever it takes to make sure that it is. One thing that I found about this place that I didn't before. RAW HORSERADISH! I have been coming here for years and the service, food, and experience are always consistently good. The take out process has gotten better over the years as well. I LOVE THIS PLACE! Went to this place with my friends after a couple hours of swimming. I've always heard about this place from my friends but I never got the chance to drop by. Okay. To start off, there's ample parking. No need to worry about rushing to StoneFire super early just because you're scared of parking issues. The restaurant is also very clean and has a great family environment vibe to it. The outside seating was pretty packed but it was very quiet. Just a bit of chatter here and there but no uproars were detected. Inside was just as packed but a tad louder probably because of the children. So we ordered breadsticks, salad, tri-tip, and baby back ribs (all family style since we were about a group of 8 or so and seating was no problem). The breadsticks are delish. They were like Pat and Oscar breadsticks but more flavorful and seasoned. Everything else tasted awesome. The salad that came in Hagrid size proportions was great and there were huge chunks of chicken along with a medley of stuff (including beans which were actually very sweet for some reason). The tri-tip was juicy and flavorful as were the ribs. The ribs were actually pretty fatty but they were good so I guess I can't complain much. :D But I think I'd only get the breadsticks, salad, and tri-tip if I ever drop by Stonefire again. I didn't order a pizza but the pizzas there looked bombbb with crunchy looking crusts and showered with toppings. AND freshly baked. Yum! Definitely coming back here when I get the chance.
