Came here the other night with my wife and son. I ordered the BBQ Chicken Breast and Baby Back Rib combo with a side of beans. My wife ordered the petite tri trip with mashed potatoes. We also got a side of brownies. For those of you who don't know you walk in and order your food, find a table and they bring your food to your table. Let me start with the bad: They forgot our brownies so we had to flag someone down and have them bring us them. But that wasn't a big deal, it happens. What got me more mad was the chicken breast I had. It was lukewarm at best. By the time I was almost finished with my plate the last pieces of chicken were COLD. Now I understand if you pre-cook your food for faster service but there is no excuse for serving COLD food. On top of that the chicken was flavorless. Luckily you can get a side of BBQ which helped immensely. The beans I got a side of were flavorless and super plain. Nothing special at all and I wish I just got a side of something else. The good things were the tri tip, baby back ribs and mashed potatoes. The tri tip my wife had was really delicious and had a lot of flavor. They cooked the baby back ribs with perfectly I thought. It fell off the bone pretty easily and the grilled texture of the ribs were good. Would we come back here again? I think we definitely will and try some other things like their pizza and stay away from things like their chicken. read more

Have been SFG customers since the start. Mostly takeout. Frequently for office lunches. Occassionally for on-site dining. Overall the food quality is good. And the take-out portions are decent. However, it's time for SFG owners/management to take a 360-view of the take-out process (i.e., order placement and pick up). "Chaotic" would be charitable. And I don't mean on a holiday-weekend evening. Last experience we were unable to place our order online. Was advised to telephone/call in. So we called. And we waited. And we waited. After placing the order was advised our food would be ready for pick up in 25 to 30 mins. Upon arrival at the takeout area, there were at least 19 people (also) waiting. Upon reaching one of the cash register stations I inquired as to the process. And was told that my name would be called when the order was ready for pick up. In 15 mins time, I never heard a single name called. So I again worked my way up to a counter and asked re the status of my order. The young staffer walked over to a wall of cubicles, found our order (two large plastic bags), and then directed me (back over) to the pay station. Understand SFG has grown to include locations in LA, Orange, and Ventura counties. Which is probably good for the SF owners. But from the prospective of this long-time customer, it's time for an objective assessment of the take-out process and customer care component. read more

The food here has always been great. Staff is engaged and always willing to help. Maybe I make the mistake of ordering online/calling in for take out every time. In terms of a customer service experience, my food has never been on time when picking up. Average wait time is usually between 15-30 minutes from designated pick up time. Today I placed my order at 3:30 to be picked up at 6. I showed up at 6:05 and was told my meat was still being cooked and it was almost ready. It's 6:15 and I still haven't gotten my food. I appreciate the option to order online and call in for take out, but the process seems really inefficient. Pro tip (hopefully this makes it into the "tips" section on yelp): if you're ordering out, give a 30 minute buffer. read more

The kids and i got the stimulus deal w/a "medium" pizza (the smallest medium i've ever seen), half tri tip, ceasar salad and breadsticks. The place was packed, but the service was good. Took just about 10 minutes, but then again, i ordered the meat rare. We raced off to get home and eat. The smells overwhelmed us in the car. It smelled so good. People go on and on about the breadsticks, but i found them bland. The pizza was ok, not great. It had all the right elements, but the crust was a little too chewy for me, and not good chewy...too much work chewy. The tri tip was rare and tender. We gobbled that down. The kids loved it so much, they asked for seconds. The star of the meal was the caesar salad. The dressing is like crack!! I licked that container dry and wished we had more. The salad container was stuffed full w/romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese and croutons. I'll remember to ask for an additional container of crack, oh, i mean caesar dressing. I don't care what it costs. It was truly awesome. Next time we go we'll just get a whole tri tip and caesar salad with extra dressing. Oh, and maybe we'll try something else, too. read more

We tried it about a week ago and although I am not a big fan of the ordering process. Pay attention Stonefire...in almost every review people complain about the ordering process. That is my only complaint. Now that I have been there twice and know how to order, my opinion of Stonefire has greatly improved. Now for the good stuff...OMG the food was awesome, the tri-tip is outstanding some of the best I have ever had. The Mac and Cheese is to DIE for and the BBQ chopped salad was outstanding. Their servers are very helpful and it is always crowded...(due to the awesome food) but please fix the ordering process. It really blows, especially if you are new to Stonefire. I should not have to take a menu home to study it to figure out what you offer. The pressure to order at the time you arrive without the benefit of the time to look everything over without pissing off everyone behind you in line would help. Just my .02cents read more

My first time going to this place was for (a light) dinner. I thought the line was to be seated, but is to take your order. Kind of confusing on the set up but none the less, I scored a booth inside. The cashier was supper nice and friendly. She advised a small salad serves two people, so we ordered a small Cobb salad and a tortilla soups. I have to say, the serving size is very generous and is relatively cheap. The food tasted pretty fresh. The Cobb salad had mint (that was something new that I appreciated) and the tortilla soup was ok, a bit salty for my taste buds. Overall the place is clean, very friendly (young) staff. And you can see the managers walking around the restaurant making sure everything is in order. They are extremely busy so anticipate some waiting time. I didn't get to try any of their BBQ items, but I've heard they are good (they certainly smell and look good). So I am coming back to try them. read more

Had lunch here today with my 2 young kids. We sat by the kitchen so a lot of staff walked by us, so I figured we would have decent service. After taking the kids to the restroom our food had arrived while we were gone, steak knifes and all. Why I need 2 steak knifes for a salad I have no idea. I needed a to-go box, and not one wait staff addressed us, while I waited, I tried to flag one down, but the one I did was on break, and they didn't tell someone who was not on break. First thing to know is this is not a typical sit down restaurant. You stand in line, order your food and pray there is a table at which to sit. You also get your own drinks (except alcohol) plates, silverware and napkins. ...and yet there is still a tip jar and a tip line on your cc receipt. What we didn't know -- and weren't informed -- is this is mostly a family style restaurant. Order entrees and sides and share. Big portions. We happen to like that and will order better next time. It appears BBQ is their thing. The only BBQ we ordered were the kids baby back ribs which had no seasoning. Or taste. Maybe the adult portion is different. The BBQ salad was great. The tortilla soup flavorful but too much cheese which melted and made the whole thing a stringy impossible mess. The breadsticks are fine but waaaay too greasy. French dip was good. Service was average to poor. Which is tough to accomplish when all you are doing is brining out food. Food comes as it is made. And oddly the Kid's food came last. Not smart. We also had to ask for the greasy breadsticks we ordered and paid for. Very loud. Lots of families. So cool for those with kids who can't control themselves. I give three stars as I think the food has potential. Maybe we came on a bad day for service. We like this style of restaurant and it has good variety. Family of 4 was 60 bucks with tip -- a tip I want back. We'll give it another go when on that side of town. And you'll get fat fast eating here. Not many healthy choices. read more

We have eaten here for lunch a couple of times. Salads are huge so we usually order one medium size and share it between four people. My only complaint is that there is often not enough dressing on the salad. The other issue is the seating can sometimes be tricky especially if you are a group larger than four people. Hubby has had the tri tip and he enjoyed it. My absolute favorite thing to order is the roasted cauliflower appetizer. Average sized parking lot, but they need a larger one for weekends... They're always busy. We've always ordered their famous barbecue chopped chicken salad with barbecue sauce... And everyone who had it agrees it's great. You wouldn't think that barbecue sauce on top of a salad would taste good, but their sauce is wonderful!! They have mixed greens, carrots, tomatoes, cheese, black beans, tortilla strips, corn, etc. the bread sticks are nicely cooked with garlic... A little on the soggy side though. Also tried their brownie... Not too bad... I also ordered this on line and went straight to the pick up window door and waited a couple of minutes for the ladies in front of me to finish their order. Went for an early dinner on a Sunday yes they were quite crowded. We need to table for 8 people there were two tables available inside but evidently the waitresses said they were being held. In the past we were told that you couldn't Reserve tables so we were set outside this would have been fine except for the fact that a patronage came in with a dog I wasn't happy with that fact . Mistakes happen, but no apology, and my food was given to me. It's a pain because not all of us get a long lunch break. Stonefire Grill is a staple of Santa Clarita food, and I've been going with my family for years. Today I went in to eat (love that restaurants are open now! Get vaxxed everybody!) and saw them.... working their staff to death. Almost literally! This sweet looking girl passed out right there while working and had to sit there with the paramedics while she got treated. I've heard that it's not the best place to work but seeing this young girl pass out from the heat really breaks my heart. I used to work in San Fernando Valley and if we had a celebration, we ordered from Stonefire grill in west hills most of the time. They were good. then I decided to try the one in Valencia. The tri-tip was good, love the salad. Their chicken was so-so. The thing that I don't like was the service. They were not helpful at all and also the cashier was so rude. and the restaurant is more like food court at the mall than a nice dining place. While the food is fantastic and the service is wonderful, I can't say the same about going in and placing a to-go order. I tried to call several times but got a message the phones were down. I checked the number and I was dialing correctly. I decided to just drive down and order my food. Simple order really. 1/2 tray salad and a pint of dressing. I'm thinking 15 mins would be a long wait. Guess I was wrong. At forty minutes, I went to the counter and asked about my order. She promptly brought it to me with a smile. I asked why wasn't my name called. She said they called it but I didn't answer. I told her I've been sitting right in front watching and listening and it wasn't called out. I don't mind a little late as they are always busy. It's a great and popular restaurant. What I do mind is three managers standing and talking, a whole lot of staff there, and I'm sitting in literally the same spot for 40 mins and no one came to check on me. I ordered Stonefire Grill catering for an event. The catering department was helpful. Reasonable cost per person, plenty of food, and they provide plates, napkins & utensils which was great not having to worry about bringing that stuff. They provided tablecloths and did a great job setting up & packing up. The staff who worked my party, Chris & Bertie, were awesome! The venue was not large so to maximize space the staff offered to set up & man the food on the patio on a cold, rainy night! They went beyond what I was told they would do (set up, serve & pack up food). Was glad to tip them well for going beyond (clearing plates, setting up the coffee urn, etc.).
