I really liked this place. The atmosphere was casual, the service was great. The flavors were delicious, we ordered the combos, for a better selection. So in all, we shared Tri-tip, Ribs, BBQChicken, Grilled Chicken, Mash Potatoes, and a Salad and an appetizer. We felt like we got more for our money that way. The meatballs (appetizer) were very good, It was like a meatball should taste. Our visit was during the evening dinner rush, I didn't feel like the wait was out of the ordinary. We were inn the area with our grandkids and needed a place for an informal lunch. We have been to several other Stonefire Grills and thought it would work. Turns out the kids also know Stonefire and love their pizzas. Turns out this Stonefire is much like each of the others we have eaten at - large, clean, with very friendly young men and women at the front desk. We ordered the kids their pizza ($5) which comes with a soft drink. Needless to say, I got to taste the pizza. It is actually good pizza with tasty crust and quality cheese. My wife and I decided to share the medium Create Your own Salad with extra chicken added ($20). You pick your favorite green (we went with all Romaine). Then pick 4 add in ingredients (counting one cheese). Then pick a dressing. Huge portion!!! We were able to eat about half and brought the rest home for dinner (yes, that's 4 meals for $20). I am giving STONEFIRE grill a low rating for online service. We ordered the meal for two tonight and it was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. I had to ask for silver ware and napkins to start. The counter person actually asked me for how many. Arriving home, we found the salad had been tossed with dressing. I had ordered it with the dressing on the side and not tossed. I didn't catch it because there was dressing added. So we ate what my wife described as "the worst restaurant salad ever. She plans to make me one tomorrow to make up for it. I was the only order at the time and the restaurant was empty. There is no excuse for messing up such a simple order. I will be more careful accepting take out from this restaurant in the future. This place was super clean and their food was so amazing. My daughter loves the pepperoni pizza and my other daughter loves the cheese quesadilla ( she said yummy yummy in my tummy). Me and my husband and our other daughter truly loved the Cesar salad with grilled chicken and the pasta with meat sauce, it was all so amazing and don't let me forget about the wonderful customer service that we got, wow for our girls and us it felt like we were with family... There was a couple of people who went out of their way to to make sure that we had an awesome time here and served us and treated us like family. Where do I start? How about the positive; The South of the Border Salad with tri tip was quite tasty! The medium size is HUGE! I would order this again!! Now the negative;The breadsticks that came withe the salad seemed like they had been sitting around for awhile. The Seabass was wayyyyyyy over cooked and oily and had an overpowering lemon flavor. Yuk!! The chili beans seemed like they had to much cumin and were very tart. I ordered an iced tea to drink but the iced tea tasted like dirty dish water. The urn itself looked filthy. Tried a Diet Pepsi instead and the co2 seemed out. The other negative is having to fetch my own plates and silverware. For the price of the food someone should be bringing them to me. This place has fantastic food at very reasonable prices. I have eaten here three times now since I discovered it a couple of weeks ago. The tri tip and ribs are amazing and I absolutely love the Lemon Garlic Salmon! Their sides are very unique and delicious as well. Had my doubts about coming to this location based on the bad service reviews but I'm glad I came anyways. Doug took my order at the front not only was super nice but gave me his personal favorites (which I ordered) and it was great! I got called back into the office as I was ordering and I asked him to make it to go after he handed me my receipt and he personally ran to the take out section and kitchen and explained to them the change in my order so there wouldn't be any confusion! We placed an oder. We love their chillaquilles among other dishes, so thats what we got it as take out. We got home and literaly tasted salt (i have high blood preasure). Working in guest service we understandably called. Our concerns were dismissed. Instead of being understanding i was treated like a problem. When my gf who works in the industry called we were met with defensiveness by robby the manager on duty, (didnt catch his name 2/12 @ 10 pm) who instead of offering his info demanded my name and info. Went back to Stonefire Grill because I realized that I reviewed the wrong location. I ordered the boneless chicken and tri-tip (mesquite BBQ) because that's what I ordered at the Thousand Oaks location. Just like the meal I ate in around 2014-2015 it was just not good. The pizza looked decent but I went in to see if they had improved on the recipe, they haven't. It's like going to Applebee's. Turn key business that some people might love. I actually enjoyed a pork chop at Applebee's once. Not a huge fan of Wood Ranch BBQ, but it's much better than Stonefire. read more

Stone Fire Grill Title: What were they thinking? This concept might have looked good on paper, but it's a nightmare in reality. First, you walk into a fairly pleasant and attractive space. But then, you are forced to line up and order off a tri-fold glossy brochure and pay in advance. There is no "Hi, Welcome to StoneFire Grill..." none of that; just a rushed, "What would you like?" I wanted to answer, "How about a table, a server and a menu?" I felt like I was in an ashram. The whole place is do it yourself. You order your own food, pay for it along with a tip, get a blinking square, and search around to find your own table. I'm surprised they didn't ask me to cook my food, too. 20 minutes later someone with a less- than-chipper attitudes dumps a bunch of plates on your table and scurries off. God forbid you should want some ketchup. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but if I going to tip someone, I actually would to make eye-contact and have someone attend to our lunch requests from a grown-up sized menu, not a flyer. This place was conceived by someone who saw too many socialist movies as a child. I didn't like it at all. The food was predictable, nothing out of the bland. I won't go back unless I take my own server with me, for old times sake. read more

This IS the Stonefire Grill and best BBQ to visit in Ventura Co. The food is incredible, clean/pleasant surroundings and service impeccable. The meal always comes to your table (or take out) hot, fresh and delicious. I've enjoyed the tri-tip, chicken and salmon in addition to the incredible salads. Best around for sure. Danny Diamond, General Manager, knows how to run a restaurant. It's obvious Mr. Diamond cares about his customers dining experience and the encouraging work environment his staff enjoy. Did I mention the beyond reasonable prices?!? I don't know how they put out such quality for the price. The "Stimulus Package" is the ticket! First time at a Stonefire Grill and I was excited to try a new restaurant here in Ventura. Unfortunately none of the food arrived together. Appetizers came 20 min after 2 out of 3 entrees arrived at which point it seemed the server had no idea what I ordered at all. When the 3rd entree arrived 30 min later the pasta was soggy. Probably late to the party, but tried Stonefire through Postmates tonight! Very impressed. Everything traveled well and was in perfect shape. We had a bbq chicken combo with ribs that came with a (not so) "small" chopped salad, breadsticks, plus we added a couple of sides, a delicious 16" loaded pizza and a full slice of fresh made carrot cake. Everything was fresh and delicious and easily two+ meals for 2, so a great value! So many more things to try now off the diverse menu. read more

Sandwich served without sides, when asked, server stated sides would be delivered with rest of the food. Waited several minutes for my friend's (separate order) food to be delivered. When asked, server apologized for my missing sides. Several minutes later they were delivered. I asked what refund I could get and they offered cash, free dessert. I didn't accept the offer, appreciated the response. I would be much happier if first server had gone the extra few steps to follow up on my order. Sandwich: roll too big for amount of meat, good, sweet tomato based bbq sauce. Mac & cheese almost tasteless. Greek salad very good. Line almost to the door when we left. I don't cook and was hosting a Birthday party for my wife with about 24 people and a mix of adults, teens, kids, etc. I thought about Stonefire and contacted the manager Jacob after looking at the menu and selecting some items for the meal. I gave him the desired items and headcount breakdown; and said to go over by about 5-10% so people could eat what they liked. That is it.. I picked up my food at the desired time, and when I brought it into the party I heard 3 of the people say things like, "Mmmmm Stonefire", "great Stonefire", etc. etc. The food was excellent, packed properly, warm on arrival, ZERO mistakes on the order, and a reasonable price. The restaurant is large, great for large groups and the menu has options for everyone in the party.
