I cannot rave about this restaurant enough. I thoroughly enjoyed my food. The service was great and the ambiance is chill. My friend said his loco moco was bland though. I have the seafood Louie salad. Only thing I'll recommend for the salad is get the dressing on the side. It can be overpowering and I wanted to taste the seafood more. We also shared goat cheese wontons which came with a really yummy mango salsa.
Service- 5 Ambiance- 4 Food- 4 I visited Stonefish Grill yesterday. This restaurant is located in a very busy part of North Shore. This is another location I try to stay away from, but had to try this place! It's located in Haleiwa town near different shops and places to eat so navigating people on foot is the part of the headache of coming here. There were lots of space for parking right next to Stonefish grill when we were there. I was so happy to see they had many healthy choices on their menu. I decided to go with the Caesar's salad and my date chose the Prime Rib poke that was sooo good! What a great combo of protein, veggies and carbs. The Prime Rib Poke consisted of the house roasted prime, flash seared and cubed with sea asparagus, fresh tomatoes , white onions and soy based dressing topped with won-tons. Hey now!
My family went here for dinner after my sister's rehearsal for her wedding. She's actually never been to this restaurant, but I think she was just going off the reviews. I have to say that my review of this place definitely doesn't match what others thought of it. The service was good, they were attentive. But the food wasn't good. I guess since there were so many of us, they had a special menu for us where we had a choice of three entrees. It was either the salmon, lamb, or chicken. And we had a few appetizers like the prime rib poke and the calamari. The appetizers weren't too bad. Our meal came with either a soup or a salad. Since I can't do milk I got the salad. Pretty much everyone else got the chowder. The salad was okay. The chowder was not eaten by most of the people on my table. My daughter said the chowder tasted funny and my dad said the same thing. Next came the entrees. I was really excited for my salmon. It looked good in the pictures with a big piece of salmon over white rice with bok choy. Well it came out but the salmon was really really dry. It was hard to eat because it was so dry tasting. I couldn't eat very much of it. And in the middle of dinner, a small brown roach crawled across the table. From that point, I was done eating. We didn't take home our leftover salmon.
I'm watching how much I eat and I decided to just stick with an appetizer. I ordered the calamari and it was completely scorched, dry and it felt like it's been frozen in a bag for a year. One comes to expect somewhat fresh seafood on an island and we've always had really great experience in this restaurant. So it's a shame that this wasn't freshly sliced and prepared but even frozen ones can be prepared correctly. These definitely tasted like they've been frozen for a long time and they definitely overcooked it whether it was frozen or not. Even after removing the batter, it still tasted awful. We love coming here, but I'm wondering if they've changed chefs. My dessert was amazing. It's pounded Taro with vanilla ice cream and coconut milk. Definitely share it if it's available because it's very sweet. My friend had no complaints about his salad. Service was great.
The food, atmosphere, and waiter are all top notch. The restroom however... When you go, ask for "Lance" to be your server. He is absolutely amazing and very attentive to food allergy challenges.if you have food allergies this is absolutely the place to eat. Everything is custom cooked.
Went for brunch with my husband today. Had the avocado croast. Only downside it could've been cut open and less lemon basil. Lemon basil was a bit over powered and due to the bread not being cut open it made it seem so dry. Minor fixes. Love the staff, super friendly. Breakfast days at stonefish are my favorite. Good food and get to listen to Jinna perform. She's one of my Ohana's favorites as she reminds of Amy winehouse. We will miss these places when we move to the mainland. Sunday mornings for breakfast is perfect as it's not too busy as everyone is out surfing.
Great drinks and awesome patio! We had apps and drinks, which were good. I really liked the tofu, but the oysters weren't special. Not a lot of flavor and pretty small. Every bite had hard pieces of shell. Our server was kind and attentive, though!
Lovely outdoor seating. On main road but intimate and cozy. A live music guitar/singer came out and was just right. I had the prime rib which was wonderful. Very large - enough for 2. Well cooked and the veggies were great as well. I had some raspberry vodka drink which I would love to have again and again. Very refreshing and perfect. Nice service.
My husband and I were looking to support a local business post Kona low flooding and wanted more of a sit down experience for lunch. This spot had a great vibe, excellent service, and good food. I had a crab cake salad, which was good--nice sized crab cakes, but a little too cakey if you know what I mean; I like mine mostly with crab and not too much filler. My lilikoi kamikaze drink was amazing though! My husband had the katsu-style fish sandwich and fried, which he enjoyed--the fries were yummy too. My daughter had the seafood chowder which was tasty, but I think could have used something to brighten it. All in all it was a great lunch spot!
In February we came here and had prime rib for the first time and it was delicious and cooked so well. We decided it was our new place for prime rib. It was tasty and the price was reasonable. I was craving steak so we decided to head to Stonefish for dinner yesterday. We've eaten here since February but hadn't had the prime rib since. We arrived and it was a tad early for dinner so the place wasn't crowded. We sat outside which was nice because the weather was great. Lance was our server and he told us the specials but we told him we were there for the prime rib. He told us the minimum temperature yesterday was Medium. We prefer medium rare, and thats what we had in February, but we thought Medium would be fine so we ordered it. My boyfriend joked that someone must have left it in the oven too long which is why Medium was the only option. We also ordered onion rings and while they were good, they were overdone. It took 15-20 minutes to get our meal so not a long wait. The meat definitely didn't look appealing but we dug in. I really tried to like it and even told my boyfriend it wasn't bad but the more I ate it the more I disliked it. It was more done than medium and I'm not used to prime rib being put on the grill before serving. It really was a stark contrast between the one we had in February and the one we had yesterday. We even discussed if we even wanted to try it again in the future since it was so bad this time. Just not sure if it was an off night or if we just got lucky in February. Since all our food was overdone maybe it was a fluke. We'll likely try another location in Haleiwa that offers prime rib. On a positive note the weather was great and Lance was a really good server.
The food here is enough to satisfy you! The portions are pretty large. The Miso Salmon was pretty good, but basic. Nothing crazy, i would probably try another dish when i'm back. The Seafood Chowder was pretty good! The service was amazing! Everyone was so sweet and attentive! Please make sure to tip them well :) The place was very beautiful. There's outdoor seating and indoor seating! such a beautiful place.

Staff is extremely attentive and friendly. Came on an extremely busy Saturday. Unfortunately, this was not our first choice, but it turned out to be a very pleasant lunch choice. The best of our choices were the prime rib poke and the mauna kea lava cake. The prime rib poke had a great taste with a bit of spice, and the lava cake was light with fresh, sweet fruit. Wanted to spend a night out with the Mrs to celebrate an anniversary but didn't want to drive into town. Decided to go here on a Tuesday night for dinner. Ambience allows for indoor or outdoor seating and we opted to dine outside since the sun was setting and it was cool. Service was friendly and accommodating. They have high top tables or regular height ones as well. Service for our order was casual and we were in no rush; after all we are on the north shore. Got a glass of wine. Beet salad which was very yummy! Shrimp side and the prime rib. Cookie with ice cream for dessert. Food was tasty and on par for the price. Hint: If you are kamaaina or military you get a discount. The food was very good. With both fish having very good crusts and being cooked very well. The service lacked heavily. I'm not sure if it was because we were there on a slower night but we felt forgotten about a couple of times. I also had no drink refills that were needed. We would have ordered a couple more drinks as well but by the time she got back to us we were done with our food. The place is in a nice spot. Food made up for some of the lack of service. read more

The food was delicious! I ordered the cornish game hen , which was crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. It came with sweet potato and roasted carrots. Appetizer was fried calamari. We also ordered a salad with crab cakes (3) to share. We drove in from town and arrived at 5:30pm. We didn't have any reservations and I'm not sure if they take reservations or not. We came at a good time because by the time we left, the restaurant was packed! Service was great and they kept the water full. The ambiance is great. They have beautiful plants set up all around the restaurant. We were too full for their desserts, but walked next door to the cute ice cream shop for a scoop. The food was amazing. I ordered the creamy goat cheese rangoons and the garlic shrimp. Both appetizers were very tasty. I appreciated the garlic shrimp in creamy white sauce coming with steamed white rice. I also ordered the beer battered fish tacos, which were delicious. The only thing I would have liked would have been a non-spicy sauce. However, the fish tacos and the creamy goat cheese rangoons did not need the spicy sauce. Let's start with staff, very kind and accommodating. The food is always just so so at stonefish. The bacon is amazing but the big braddah was not good. I couldn't stomach to eat it. We stopped in for lunch while on the north shore. I've must have passed this place so many times and I can't believe I never stopped in! The restaurant has a cool vibe and I like that they have indoor and outdoor seating options. Even though I wasn't looking for electric vehicle chargers (see my pic), Stonefish Grill of Haleiwa (North Shore) was the only one I saw on the Island, this set the tone that this restaurant would be a cut above. I can't say enough good things about our server, Juju. She was incredibly knowledgeable about the food but also the local area. I have a pic of their menu since it just recently changed. We started with their house salad and a cup of clam chowder. As you can see in my pic the house salad has the usual greens which were fresh. Along with the peppers, this made for a vibrant appearing salad. The side vinaigrette dressing was good. The clam chowder had an abundance of sea food in it, in addition to the clams. The creamy broth was more complex than just cream; whatever was added to the broth made this quite rich and savory. We shared the Coconut Ginger Catch. While the menu doesn't specify the fish, we believed it was swordfish. The fish steak was very, very firm. But the sauce was a great reduction of coconut milk. The ginger was light. A squeeze of the lemon added the right amount of brightness to the fish. I can't say enough good things about the Fish Picatta. This fish was cooked perfectly: light and flaky on the inside with enough flavor sear on the outside. The sauce was a garlic and lemon butter caper sauce. Yet it wasn't overly buttery and the garlic, while present, wasn't overly strong - a nice light combination. A touch of caper with each bite provided the right amount of tart pop. The noodles were a good neutral carrier of the sauce and fish. We ate on the patio and it was calming. The free roaming chickens supplied the evenings' entertainment. read more

Food - the fish was fresh, tasty, 'clean' tastes. Really enjoyed the blue marlin in a coconut ginger sauce and the mahi mahi piccata (on great udon noodles). Cheesecake is to die for - had the one with lilikoi sauce - it was one of the better ones I've had. Service was great, server was fast, attentive, kind - all you can ask for. The place has lovely ambiance lights, it feels warm with the wooden furniture. Also, it has huge windows so it feels like you are outside even if you are inside. Definitely recommend! read more

I've been coming here for a year now and this place holds a special place in my heart. It was the first place I ate after swimming in open water with 3 types of sharks! Lol so a refreshing meal was my first experience. Followed by a few more less intense meals! Food is made with care and they are happy to collaborate with you from what's on the menu which I love. Feels like you're having a meal at a friends place and even have one server that's been there since I started going as well so it is awesome to see a familiar face as well. My fav so far are the drinks and breakfast. Avocado toast with a side of scramble eggs and side of potatoes... *drool* that's the way a proper brunch starts the day! Haha Staff are very attentive and collaborate smoothly as well, every server in the place checked on me as they walked by. Even if they didn't say anything I could see them clock my water being low and they would immediately grab a jug and fill my water without hesitation. Love seeing that kind of team work in the world, especially these days. It warmed my heart. Also a decent open air spot to watch the games near the bar too! Great meals with great service. We found this place while wondering around Haleiwa on the North Shore. The inside was very nice. They have an outdoor dining area but it was drizzling while we were there. The server was very friendly. I had a fish sub and fries that were very tasty. My wife had a beet salad with grilled shrimp. I would say 3.5 stars. First off finding the entrance was a little confusing. We had to walk around the whole building. No signage by main entrance. But it was a nice walk. Service was good but it did seem they were a bit short staffed and it wasn't super busy. Didn't get our water refilled until after we finished eating but there were 3 hostess' I'm not sure if there are work restrictions cuz they looked kinda young. Spent more time waiting for our food and check and server than it took us to eat. Sitting inside can get kinkinda loud. Now the big stuff.. the food.. The prime rib loco moco - flavorful but the prime rib was cooked well done. It would have been nice to be able to choose the doneness of the meat. The croast was amazing! I would definitely come back for this and just get a side of bacon. Benedict was good. Eggs were poached nicely but the hollandaise sauce was la bit bland.Iialso there was a lot of "water" on my plate. We will be back to try lunch. I initially came for lunch and we got there about 10:45. It would have been nice to be offered a lunch menu and given the options to wait. The vibe is super nice and relaxing as always. Can come her for food or just to grab some beers at the bar. Our server never introduced herself and I had to ask someone else what her name was to get her attention. This place is INCREDIBLY expensive, but I guess that's normal in touristy towns. For drinks, my dad, husband and I ordered the longboard lager, raspberry smash and the lychee breeze. The raspberry smash just tasted like vodka and lemonade. It wasn't as good as I expected. The lychee breeze is super super good! Highly recommend it. My dad and husband ordered the fish katsu sandwich and the prime cheesesteak sandwich. The cheesesteak was very good. It was tender and juicy. The bottom of the bread was a little soggy but not bad. Could have used a bigger dish for the dipping sauce since the sandwich is so big. The fry's here are awesome too. The sandwich is more of a fish burger, but was great, it wasn't full of breading like a lot of places so you can really taste the fish. The salad was kind of annoying cause the lettuce pieces are so large you have to cut it with a knife. I ended up not ordering anything because nothing looked appetizing to me, not at the fault of the restaurant of course. I'm really big on organic, planet healthy things and they use paper straws which is great and they source their food from local markets which I think is a huge huge plus as they support their own locals! The bill was $75 with only two people ordering food. I only gave 4 stars because of how expensive it is. read more
The ambience here was beautiful and the food was delicious. After showing some friends all the beauty the north shore has to offer they wanted a sit down place for dinner and stonefish grill came recommended. There's both indoor and outdoor sitting and coming here on a Saturday during dinner time there was surprisingly no wait. We started off with some drinks, and then had to get the calamari which was ono. The kids mac and cheese was delicious, was super cheesy and had flavor which many times you don't find with kids meals. My husband loved his salmon he got where I thought my dinner was ok- I got the braised short ribs with udon noodles but it was really just a fancy spaghetti. The only negative though is the menu is pretty small but prices weren't bad and overall food was delicious. read more
Service was good. Servers were attentive and quick to take our order and get our food going. Ambiance was ok. The decor was neat and earthy--a lot of rope and wood. They also had nice Christmas decorations up for the holidays--I think there was a real Christmas tree dressed up. It was kind of loud though, the acoustics in the restaurant carried the sounds of the large party nearby to our table. Food was good, though we only ordered salads. The beet salad was supposed to have poached pears in it, but we only had one slice of the it. Lastly, the pricing was kind of expensive for a salad, and for one that didn't come with more pear. read more

Jess and her Staff were AWESOME and very accommodating when I called her with a group of 50 for breakfast this Sunday. The Corvette Club of Hawaii and Aloha Mustang & Shelby Club of Hawaii Members cruised to Haleiwa with 37 beautiful rides and had built up an appetite. Stonefish Grill's breakfast menu was onolicious and for our large group of 50, the Staff was on top of things, food came out on time, and servers were great! With many of our Members telling me after they had their fill that the food was great and that Stonefish Grill was a fantastic choice, I informed Jess that it sounded like I provided them with future return customers. Nice restaurant/bar and grill vibe with local flavor of "American" cuisine. Sat outside with great views of people and hustle and bustle of the area. The only downside is a couple of (presumably) local teenagers were driving up and down the streets with car speakers absolutely blaring music. read more

I would like to watch the Super Bowl, is TV available and are there enough screens so everyone is not seated on top of each other?
The only tv's are at the bar (3 I think).and not a ton of seats. If you click on the interior pictures you can see the space and tv's.
We ate breakfast here 5 years ago and LOVED the crab cake Benedict. We loved it so much, we came back a few days later and were told it's only a weekend dish. We're flying back out next month and want to come by - is this still a weekend only dish?

Is the restaurant dog friendly?
Dogs are allowed on the outside area (patio). Service dogs for sure, but for regular dogs as long as they don't bark or cause a disturbance it should be fine! I would ask for an outside table when going!

Weekdays 4 p.m.-6 p.m. and 8 p.m.-10 p.m.bar only
