The website states closes at 8:30. This is suppose to be the last seating time. As a local resident I was extremely disappointed to bring my guest from France there Tuesday August 24 at 8:10 pm. Although there was no wait and empty tables, the hostess very rudely told us, I'm going to seat anyone more tonight we are closed. I truly wished the owner and owners children had been present to see and hear the rudeness. if they are so understaffed in the kitchen (which is what I presume). why were the hostess snd 2 waitresses hanging at the hostess station chatting? Why wasnt it all hands on deck? Ths Is not the first time that have witnessed the hostess to be rude. read more

My husband and were vacationing for our birthdays - 8/26 & 8/27 and staying on York's Long Sands Beach. The weather was perfect so we decided to walk to dinner on my birthday and Stones Throw was about .6 miles from our hotel. The front of the restaurant opens up so that you feel like you are outside no matter where you sit. Our server, Michele, helped me decide to have the Sangria which was delicious and refreshing, not too sweet. My husband ordered the Steakin' a sandwich and I ordered the Kale-ee-see salad with seared tuna. Both were delicious! My husband raved about the tender meat and great bread, plus the side of dilly beans. My tuna was tender and cooked perfectly and the salad was fresh and full of flavor. In fact, our meal was so great that we went back the next day for his birthday. This is a rare occurrence as we like to try as many different places as we can when we travel. The second night he had the rib-eye which was tender and flavorful, I had the Naked Nicoise, again with the seared tuna - fabulous does not do it justice. Michael, our server and the bartender, advised me to have some delicious cocktails. It was nice that Michele came over to our table to say hi as she recognized us from the night before. We will definitely return the next time we visit Maine and I hope that Michael and Michele will be there. read more

I travel to York Beach every summer for vacation and this has become a regular pop in spot for us. The wait staff is wonderful, the bar is fully stocked with top shelf liquor and the food is delicious. The only down side is the lack of A/C so on those super hot days it's not incredibly ideal when looking for a spot to cool off- but on the days with a nice sea breeze it's really enjoyable especially with the ocean being directly across the street. I recommend the spicy sriracha bbq tenders, oysters and baja tacos! read more

Awesome food and service. I live in the neighborhood. I see the meticulous upkeep put into the restaurant and rooms. The location on the water is spectacular. This is not a tourist trap rather a great neighborhood spot with an inventive menu. Owner is often onsite and involved in the daily operations. I have never been disappointed in a meal here. Stopped in to have a quick bite for lunch while visiting Lori Jorgens for the first time with my friend Liz. We are in York visiting from California. We had a delicious drink, the Breakwater, which was Blueberry infused vodka and lemonade. Our waiter, Lee, was very accommodating making an adjustment to the drink so it was not too sweet. We had the Shroomy Flatbread, Cauliflower Ceviche, and Buffalo Shrimp. Delicious! The owner stopped by our table as well and Lee,our waiter, was so friendly. Definitely a warm welcome. I've been here before and had a good experience and food, but this last time was one for a review. Was here about two weeks ago - First, hidden "children's menu" pricing. Where there are items but no menu so you don't know what you're ordering. I seem to recall the used to have a paper menu, not anymore. Evidently they're too ashamed to print that they charge $9 for a hot dog. But seriously, THE worst lobster roll I have ever had in York. Maybe ever anywhere. The worst mixed drink I have ever had in my life. It tasted like dishwater that I was drinking out of a sweaty combat boot. Overpriced and not impressed. read more

My wife and I stayed there with our daughter for 2 nights and it was hands down one of the best places we've ever stayed. It's decorated in a cool beach vibe. The location is excellent (you can hear the waves at night and sitting on the balcony feels like you're on the beach). The downstairs restaurant is incredible! The menu is very well done and the drink and beer list has anything you could want. We loved having breakfast and lunch there. My wife loved the lobster for breakfast, my daughter ate the waffles, and I had one of the scramblers. The bloody mary is delicious as well. The staff was so friendly and welcoming (especially Joshua and Michael)... we didn't want to leave. My new favorite place in York. A must stay or must stop to eat and drink! I can't recommend this place enough! Started with the siracha boneless tenders , way better than any buffalo tenders I ever had. As an entree I had the scallops and they were perfect ... perfectly cooked, the bacon corn salad was delish, and the roasted potatoes were lovely. Service was friendly, speedy and great all around, the hostess even helped us put our annoying double stroller away. Certainly not typical beach food. Well done everyone at Stones throw :) read more

$53 before tip. For grilled cheese. Burnt chips. I said they were burnt and she said "yeah I know." ... what? Redundant menu. Sandwiches and more sandwiches... No napkins until we asked for them. Never got silverware. Lots of sandwiches. 6 Entrees. A handful of so-so salads. Very little beef or chicken available. Looks like a lot of beer... but it is all from far off breweries and 5 Hefs/Summers and 2 IPAs. The rest were unmentionable. We live a stones throw away and wont bother to throw a stone at this place ever again. read more

I loved loved this place! Great little spot right on the water and Long Sands beach, so you can't beat the view! We went here twice during our stay in York and both visits were filled with a great crowd, yummy food and great service. Our first visit was after being on the beach all day and we decided to hit up this place for a cold beer and some snacks. You're in Maine so casual attire (no matter the time of day) works fine here. We strolled up in our bathing suits and were seated with no issue. During the evening hours, diners are more dressed up but you can easily find both casual and more dressy attires here. There are several seats inside (booths and tables), bar area with bar seats and a few tables, front patio seating (faces the water) and a smaller back patio (not atmosphere really, and sits over the parking lot but if you want to sit outside and the front is full, this could be a good option). They offer fun cocktail choices, local and non-local craft beers (I think coors light was the only non-craft available), a decent wine list and of course a full bar if you prefer to create your own cocktail. We shared beach wings, housemade chips, fried avocado and the sweet n' spicy chicken flatbread. All were delicious and flavorful. The wings being a table favorite. Stacked up against all those other avocado was boring. In fact, we loved it all so much that during our second visit a few days later for a late light "snacky" type dinner and drinks, we ordered the the wings and flatbread again. Also tried the summer rolls and the chedda-chips. Again, just like the avocado from the earlier visit, the rolls were super fresh and light, but seemed boring when stacked up against all the other bold flavors. Stopped in for lunch with my friend and 2 children. The waiter was pleasant but seemed annoyed for even having to be taking our order. What a delightful evening. Dinner on the ocean with amazing food, friendly and accommodating staff and outstanding drinks. We would highly recommend the mussels, the tuna and the lobster roll. Dear diners, upon reading previous reviews of this establishment we decided to walk .7 miles from our hotel. Upon arrival we were told being seated may take as much as 25 minutes. Three minutes later, much to the gratitude of the gout sufferer of the group, we were seated. The hostess was adorable and did her job well. We ordered drinks, and they came very quickly. Potentially my favorite spot in York. The restaurant is right on Long Sands Beach, with indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe is causal and costal but definitely higher end. This isn't a lobster shack. The staff is great and very helpful. Great draft beer selections including some local craft brews. Mixed drinks are fun and made very well. Wings are a must, they come in a sauce that is like a sweet jerk. Incredible. Chedda chips are a solid choice as well. Prices are a little in the high side so don't be shocked, but the view and food is well worth the price. read more

We stopped into Stones Throw today for a drink and to unwind. To be honest, we were thinking of going elsewhere for dinner. However, once we were seated and comfortable, we looked over the menu and decided to eat. All of us loved our meal and were very impressed with the food. The best thing we ate was the tempura avocado special. The buffalo shrimp were excellent too! All in all, we ate a variety of things off the menu and all seven of us really enjoyed our meal. I saw a few people each time I was there stand for a bit and mull over the menu displayed by the street and then keep walking. Word to the wise: there is no designated parking for restaurant guests here so we didn't get the chance to eat here. We parked in the back but were told that's for lodging guests only and were asked to move. This was on a busy summer day so all nearby metered parking was full, only option was to pay $20 for day parking a quarter mile away. The restaurant was empty and there was a ton of parking in the back so it was a real shame, looked like a great spot. I may suggest allowing temporary parking passes to restaurant guests when spaces are available. read more

Awesome dinner! "The Green" salad of arugula, edamame, cucumber, green apple and avocado was enough to share along with an main course. My husband had the "Steakin'" sandwich of shaved steak (and had enough to take some home) and I had the "Chicken Flatbread" with spicy-balsamic-strawberry sauce, bacon, strawberries and mozzarella that was so good that I should have had leftovers, but instead ate it all. If you are staying at the ViewPoint Hotel, the restaurant owner (who also owns the hotel) will give you a ride back to the hotel in his cool electric car! read more

Got the lobster roll, portions were so small for the price I paid. It was good, but was the size of my hand stretched out. I think they make their own chips and those were pretty good, however the green beans that come with most things are the worst things I have ever tried. They are pickled and sour. We ordered calamari for our appetizer and it was rubbery and tasteless. Wait staff was ok, could be a little more attentive.
