A quick search on my phone suggested that this place might be vegan friendly, and I found that it was. My server told me that the chickpea burger is vegan (although maybe don't use the mayo that comes on the side). And there were some other items on the bowls/salad half of the menu that looked vegetarian and probably easily vegan friendly. We frequent this area and unfortunately only recently started lunching at this fabulous "on the beach" restaurant. The location is perfect. You feel like you are in the Caribbean overlooking the ocean with the open air atmosphere. The fish and chips are the best I've had. Panko perfection on fresh haddock and a generous portion. Hand cut fries are a delight and the coleslaw is yummy. We also had the scallops which were about the best I've had. (We are from the Boston area and dine regularly). Ate here last summer and the food was meh. You're paying for the location not the quality. Ordered drinks and snacks and was in impressed with everything. You're better off getting food and drinks away from the beach area. We won't be back. If we want a beach drink we will go to somewhere better in town. read more

This is an amazing place. My boyfriend and I stayed in York a few days and had both lunch and dinner here separate days. Lunch on Thursday was quick and relaxing, we love the super close ocean view. We both just wanted to stop for cocktails and an appetizer. We chose a basket of garlic french fries which turned out to be the perfect choice- golden and crispy without being crunchy. Done right!! I had a "Blue Mule" cocktail and it was just what I wanted- bright and refreshing. The next night, Friday, we took a stroll down for dinner after a long beach day. We were in the market for a real meal. We both ordered a Summer Smash drink which was definitely strong but we were into that for a Friday night beverage. He had the fish and chips which we were both super impressed with! No light fare with the choice- a perfectly crispy breaded slab of fish was served over and bed of fries. Very pleased. I ordered the Chick A Pea burger, a chickpea and sweet potato burger with some asian flavors. It was so flavorful and, again, perfect pairing with the crispy fries. I would also like to mention the lovely waitress we had on Thursday, so friendly to us and her other tables! She mentioned she is only there on Thursdays and I forget her name, so if y'all are reading this hopefully you know who to give kudos to. Also the man at the host station on Friday night was handling his role well even with the Friday crowd and made sure our name was on the waiting list and remembered us when we came back after 30 minutes for our table. All the staff are kind and efficient. Hats off to the Stone's Throw, we are definitely coming back on our next trip to York! read more

Girls weekend lead us to Uber over to the Stones Throw. Our party of 4 had dinner this past Saturday night. The food was excellent, scallops, fish sandwich, and 2 lobster rolls (one hot one cold). The French fries are phenomenal. The waitress Savannah was so attentive, we waited for nothing. She recognized it was a girls night out and left us to gab, but knew when we were ready to order. I have grown up in Maine my whole life, therefore I have eaten a lot of lobster rolls. This place, though was probably the best I have ever had. The bread was perfectly toasted and the lobster was so tender. I didn't try it, but the people who I were with got the fish and chips and they said that was the best they have ever had as well. Great find! I rolled in with my crew of 7 at a random hour on a holiday weekend Sunday evening. No problem accommodating my large party. Great service from our waiter, Ty. He was one of the best I've had in quite a while - just the right level of attentive; aware of the other large parties coming in after us and made sure he got our order in ahead; worked great with my younger kids and had all the right food out to the right kids. Food: very good quality food, good menu with some unique options in sandwiches and flatbreads while keeping a couple classic beach-side offerings. The buffalo shrimp were just about perfect and the cheddar chips we fantastic (the Sriracha kept the little kids from diving in to them!). Kids loved the grilled cheese and the chicken fingers. The home made chips and their fries were also just the right amount of crispy. Location: outside the small town, but that is part of what makes it nice. Right across the street from the beach and not really a bad view in the place. Besides the deck heaters, they brought blankets for the folks lucky enough to get the 'front row seats'. Not sure what happened to the actual food they used to serve here. I liked their breakfast so much last year I ate it both mornings after staying in the hotel. I got the sweetie skillet which had chunks of sweet potatoes, peppers, veggies sausage etc. It was delicious. I was so looking forward to it this year I dragged my family out to this regretful dining experience. Now they have what they're posing as the same dishes and calling them "scrambles". Let me just say I was beyond disappointed. Most everyone's eggs came out cold. I got the sweetie "scramble" and it was essentially just mediocre scrambled eggs with cheese and a couple of slivers of shaved sweet potato. No veggie sausage in sight or flavor. Yuck. Honestly could have stayed home and made something better myself. I noticed all the so called "chefs" were scooping previously made eggs out of heated trays; which couldn't have been that hot cause all the eggs were cold. This place has evidently resorted to a touristy quantity of turning tables over quality of their product. read more

The view, the beer selection, and the apps we had were great. The service was HORRIBLE. That girl--the one with the dirty blonde hair who didn't bother to brush it this morning or change out of her pajamas before coming to work--was SO rude. She gave us attitude when we (3 adults) asked for a table in the shade and she tried to sit us at one with too much sun and 2 feet from a table full of children. She never asked how our food was. When she cleared our dishes, she was practically smashing them as she stacked them and didn't utter a single word the entire time. Awkward! When it came time to pay, we put a credit card in the bill holder and she didn't come back for over 20 minutes. We had to flag someone else down to be able to leave. Looks much better then the old 123 Rock Star used to. Great updates, But York Beach is a fun, laid back, family beach. Where people want to walk off the sand and grab some quick drinks and food like burgers, clams, chicken fingers while still wearing the bathing suits and flip flops. Not a $24 baked haddock or a $13 grilled cheese sandwich. They are trying to charging fine dining prices at an outside, walk up, glorified beach diner! To bad. I think they need to drop their prices a bit. read more

Now the seafood tastes like it was bought at market basket from the freezer section and dumped in the deep fryer. Tasteless. And our server couldn't be bothered to spend minimum time waiting on us. I recently went fo Stones Throw in York, ME for a bachelorette party dinner. The place was cute and located in a perfect spot for beach vacationers. While it wasn't a terrible experience, my party ran into a few troubles. First off, this restaurant does not take reservations and we had a large party of 13. We were very happy when we showed dup around 8:30pm on a Saturday night and they sat all 13 of us in only a few minutes at a great table on the back terrace. My entire party ordered cocktails so we weren't surprised when those took a while to come out to the table, and they were certainly worth it. I had the sangria, which had a pleasant peachy twist. For dinner I ordered the burger as it comes and substituted the chips for fries. The staff made several errors with our meals and brought out at least four incorrect or extra dishes. The burger was pretty good but the fries were the star of my plate. My friends really enjoyed the chicken flatbread as well. When it came time to split the check, our waitress brought out one large check and couldn't remember how had what and the entire cashing out process took at least 45 minutes. We specified upon being seated how we needed the check split and the manager said it would be no problem so we were a bit frustrated in writing out each of our orders and how we were paying for every item. I would go back to this restaurant but not with a large party. read more
