There wasn't any room for my husband and I sit at the table with my family so I asked the hostess if we could sit at the booth near the table. The request was granted. Our reservation ensured booth seating by the window but really there was plenty of seating that particular Friday late afternoon. Our male server was prompt and on top of everything. We ordered a ribeye steak, grilled asparagus, slab of ribs, sweet potato soufflé, and coleslaw. Everything was beyond delicious! As usual, the steak was flavorful and very tender. This was our first time ordering ribs which our waiter highly recommended. We can honestly say they were the best we've ever had at a restaurant. I am not a big fan of asparagus but the grilled flavor and garlic may have changed my mind. The dinner rolls that came to the table are really addictive donut holes. Soooo good! The entree portion sizes were enough for our dinner the next day. We were offered free drinks from the bar for our anniversary but we selected a slice of cake to go instead. Tucked near a Cheesecake Factory and next to a Buffalo Wild Wings in the Cumberland Mall, rests this disorganized, overpriced, over rated chain steak restaurant. We made reservations for dinner for 7 to celebrate my brother's birthday dinner. Our party included a four year old. We were seated at a table set for for 6. When we returned to the host stand to notify them, the restaurant's solution was to just drag a chair from another table. (That's something we could've easily done.) No one thought to bring out another setting for the table, and we were left cramming ourselves at a table that was clearly intended for a smaller party. When it was time to order drinks, the server advised they didn't carry any non-soft drink appropriate beverages for my child, so we ordered a water for her in a to-go cup. My cocktail was overly sweet. No one else seemed wow'd about their cocktails. Our server, who had the charisma of a egg salad sandwich, took our order, but offered no insight of options for our daughter, who clearly wasn't going to eat a 10oz+ $50 steak on her own. He only indicated after we decided to order her a side of macaroni and cheese as her entree that he only said, "well, we can do kid items, but they're not on the menu." It would've been nice to know those options ahead of time. I ordered my steak med rare. Came out very rare. Flavor was lacking, but there wasn't even salt and pepper on the table to help rectify that problem. Caesar salad was plain Jane. "Smoked Gouda" Mac and cheese was severely burnt, which was decidedly inedible for my daughter. Furthermore, once all the dishes came to the table, we were stuck shuffling and ducking because we didn't have adequate table space for the plates. I should also add, that most places you go where they charge these kind of prices for steaks will boast their meat is sourced from local farms, they're responsibly sourced, etc. This place only states on their menu that the cuts other than the filet mignons are "USDA Prime", which is the same cuts you can purchase for significantly less at the grocery store. Their "cold water salmon" simply means it is just salmon. No indication if it is farm raised, Alaskan, etc. I don't trust their meats and fish are anything above average and the chain is making out like bandits on the price differential. I don't know if this place used to be better or if steak places aren't my jam, but I certainly wouldn't advise coming here and expecting the experience to rock your world. read more

I really like Stoney River one of my favorite steak restaurant. What I notice on my last visit the salad was definitely smaller and the price the bowl definitely need to be full and stacked. I did have a incident with part of basting bristles on my steak and they replaced it and when I ask for dressing for salad and cooking sauce to reheat my steak.. We dined here on a Saturday night. Stoney River Steakhouse is located right outside of Cumberland Mall amongst a plethora of other chain restaurants. Parking is simple since it is inside the mall's parking lot. On this particular night the restaurant was packed. There were people waiting inside and outside, we had no reservations but was told the wait would be around 35 minutes. Once seated we were greeted by an amicable waitress. Sweet Rolls with a sweet butter was brought to the table, they were small and very good. We both ordered ceasar salads with our meals. The side salads were very pricey $6.50 each and it was more of an entree size so most of mine went uneaten. Their Ceasar Dressing is very good. I ordered the Hong Kong Style Sea Bass which came over Spinach and my fiance ordered the Pan Roasted Cold Water Salmon Szechuan style with garlic whipped potatoes and broccoli. My Sea Bass tasted fresh and was cooked perfectly. The Hong Kong sauce was decent, it paired well with the spinach. I enjoyed the Salmon in the Szechan sauce, the flavors came together well. . Very pleasantly surprised by a "mall" steakhouse. I had the prime rib and my friend had the coffee rubbed fillet. First off service was good and the waitress was able to make good suggestions. The flavor on the fillet was very good as we traded pieces. My prime rib was done a little more on the well side (I ordered medium rare and it was probably a solid medium). However despite being done a bit more than I wanted it was pretty tasty and I have no complaints on the flavor. That and the garlic mashed potatoes made for a very satisfying meal. Update: Customer service has gone down immensely in the past few years. The receptionists are incompetent and apparently can't carry a message to the "takeout girl" the bartender who is SWAMPED for a simple request. No sauce on takeout food because it makes it soggy. Indeed, the kitchen should just automatically not put sauce on battered fish for takeout orders because it's common sense, but common sense is in short dupply at Stoney in Cumberland. I was on hold on the phone for almost 15 minutes just to talk to the bartender for a simple issue the receptionist could have relayed. By the time the message was receieved I had arrived. I drove from Alpharetta on hold and didn't get an answer until I hit the Cobb Paekway exit. I waited 10 minutes for my order because again no one can do ANY WORK except the bar tender! only for the manager to talk down to me over rolls. Yes, the things they give you FOR FREE when you sit down in the restaurant. Apparently, if you pay $100 for takeout food you're only allowed 1 roll per person. Good news is you're more than welcome to pay extra for something everyone else receives for free! Nah, keep your rolls lady and I'll keep my money from now on. I will be calling to speak to an actual manager next week vs the condescending garden gnome who thought she could upsell me some dough after wasting 25 mins of my life dealing with her lazy, incompetent staff. read more

Not being from the area I didn't realize the steak rolls were a meal in themselves. lol I'm so glad I didn't know because they were DELICIOUS! And the filet mignon was so tender. This place is in my backyard and I finally decided to check it out. I opted to dine on a Saturday night at the bar. The bartender greeted me in decent time and provided me with a cup of water and a drink and food menu. After reviewing the menu, I ordered a cocktail. He advise me that he had made a mistake by giving me the Summer menu and was not certain he had the honey that the recipe called for. Lucky me, he found it! I don't recall the name of the cocktail, but I did enjoy it! When I sat down at the bar it was fairly empty, however that changed within a matter of a few minutes. As such, the bartender did struggle with helping everyone promptly. I heard a few patrons complaining about slow service. For my meal I ordered the pecan trout with Parmesan fries and broccoli. It is served with mashed potatoes, but I subbed them for the fries based on the reviews I read. The food came out quickly. I don't think anything was cooked to order. I could be wrong, but the food came out in a flash! The fries were not as great as I thought they would be. However, I did enjoy the trout and the broccoli. Great service on a packed Sunday night. The place ia centrally located and the parking is great for the establishment. Self parking for those interested in knowing. I did make reservations earlier in the day and the staff was very accommodating with that. Once my party arrived we were seated in the center front of the restaurant near the amazing fireplace. It was so beautiful and definitely set the scene. Our hostess was amazing from start to finish answering questions to simple recommendations. We had a few appetizers then went on to our main courses. All of the food was fresh and definitely made with love lol. We had a couple of drinks and even celebrated the night ending with a sweet birthday treat for my friend. This place isn't super pricey which I loved but the atmosphere definitely gives you 5 star feel and luxury dining moods. For the first 45 minutes at the table of 6 next to us had an additional 5 people and their shopping bags standing around their table watching them eat, snacking from their food, taking selfies, posing for pictures, playing their phones loudly and talking so loudly I could not hear those at my table. The management and staff did nothing, they actually were accommodating to the bizarre circus of "standers". My table had a gash in it that was effectively a Petri dish, collecting germs. I got to stare at the germ encrusted table the whole meal, yum! I kept wondering why the waitress and manager were ok with it, they had to see it- I mean it's 3 inches long!!! For the record, a Chick filet manager would throw this thing away before serving $4 chicken nuggets on it, let alone Stoney River who charges $50 for a steak. The waitress was nice enough but over sat and busy catering to the standing circus next to us. It took 30 minutes to get a beer. The steak which I would have classified in the past as "exceptional" was just "meh" tonight. The fries at Marlows taste better. And when they brought my sweet potato (it was late) it was cold to the touch- COLD! Are they serving frozen sweet potatoes? I could not wait for this dinner to be over. When I asked for the check, I was handed just that: a folded paper check with no where to put my credit card. So I folded the check around my black amex, hoping that would be enough to make sure it didn't get lost when I handed it back to the waitress. This location is attached to Cumberland Mall with a spacious parking lot. You can reserve beforehand online to make sure you have a spot on busy nights. They offer delicious rolls before dinner with sweet honey butter that is hard not to fill up on. The filet mignon cannot be beat in terms of flavor and tenderness. They offer giant loaded baked potatoes, potatoes au gratin, whipped potatoes, and whipped sweet potatoes.
