Simple, but good. We ordered the lobster bisque, the wedge salad, the mushroom meatloaf, the bone-in steak, and the new york strip. Everything was good, but not amazing. The lobster bisque was thick and rich.The wedge salad was DELICIOUS! If you get anything, get the wedge salad. The new york steak was overcooked, and had a strange taste. The bone-in steak was good, but the parmesan fries outshined it. The mushroom meatloaf was alright. Oh, and just avoid the spinach artichoke dip. Made a reservation for 10 and was seated once at least half our party was there. 10 is the max number for a reservation apparently and to have more, you need the private room which has a minimum spend. The bread is always so tasty and I sometimes just get full off of that. I had to wait for my cocktail quite a long time and came out right when we got our meals. I ordered the legendary and got it with a side of fries. It was good! Not the best steakhouse but still solid. The creme brulee was really tasty but the chocolate cake was so big and too rich in flavor. I'll give it the 4 stars but it is a round up. The 3.7 reflected after hundreds of reviews is on point and a result of consistency and value is my take. The Good: The service was solid and they were on point considering the crowd. The food, for the most part, was good. It was busy and they clearly knew how to deal with the crowds. They definitely do solid business. The Challenges: The biggest challenge we had to overcome is value. It's not that the food wasn't good, because it was decent (son thought steak he ordered lacked flavor). It is just that the food don't justify the cost. Charging blow me away prices, without blowing me away. Thats the main problem here. To sum it up, I usually prefer going to Pattons and prepare my steak at home. This experience did not change that opinion. If I end up at another steakhouse anytime soon, I'll probably opt for a fresh venue to try something new. We recently visited Stoney River to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. Dinner was incredible - filet mignon and their featured 1 pound loaded baked potato. We finished dinner with their chocolate layer cake and a complimentary champagne toast. Our server Shaletha was incredible! She was very personable, attentive and so very kind to us. We enjoyed our visit but found this restaurant is no longer fine(r) dining as their menu prices still suggest. There were small kids with big outside voices surrounding us and adults in shorts/tshirt attire. A true steakhouse feel with a great overall Flavor! The orange bitters old fashion was a true runway show stopper. As it floated down the runway in all its glory not only did it move with elegance and beauty but it also performed a dance over my tastebuds that showed its true nature... deliciousness! I started with the steak rolls... a egg roll like appetizer made with a light and crispy wrap that is filled with luscious cheese and steak seasoned to perfection. The salad was huge... made for a trio of kings... the half a head of lettuce with its dressings and bacon crumbles made more of a meal then a starter. A cup of lobster chowder was a delightful study in creamy bliss. Loads of lobster, rich silky like cream, and seasoning to stop the band! I would have licked the cup clean if I had been given the chance! For my main course I got the 14oz ribeye... medium rare, marbled with flavor enriching fat, and tender beyond belief... drool factory... it was perfect! The ambiance of the venue was dim lighting and rich dark wood... luxurious opulence for the eye. The center bar was low and open so the view was uninterrupted and full. O my goodness!! We went there for the first time tonight to celebrate our anniversary!! The food was amazing. My husband had the ribs and truffle fries and I had the prime rib and au gratin potatoes. We also shared a Caesar salad. Best ever salad! I know this dressing was homemade. The waiter was amazing and gave us champagne and chocolate cake to celebrate our anniversary. Not 100% sure why the rating is so low here. Possibly from old reviews? My visit here certainly teetered between 4 and 5 stars for my date recently. This was, however, probably my 6th or 7th time coming here. Be prepared to shell out $$$ eating & drinking here. The location here is a bit odd, sitting at an intersection that seems a little difficult to make it over. There is plenty of parking though. I was told I needed to make reservations for a table due to COVID-19, so I called ahead. They were following CDC guidelines and even had see-through glass barriers at the bar for patrons (between every two seats). Ambiance here is certainly set for romantic, although it could be labeled very business friendly. My date and I got a booth, and used their QR Code to scan for the digital menu. When you don't eat red meat, then what's the go-to item at a Steakhouse? FISH! We started with the lemon caper crab cake. It was certainly not what I expected. I had hoped for a breaded crab cake, but this came out as more of a crab cake but no breading. I liked the lemon caper sauce but wasn't a fan of how they did it. Wouldn't recommend. And my only other complaint would be the water glasses ... you'd think at a fancy place like this, they'd leave a carafe of water at your table. Had to keep asking for refills bc the glasses didn't hold much. They do bring warm bread rolls and butter, so that would've easily sufficed for the appetizer, and tasted great! For my entree, I did the Ahi Tuna. Highly recommend. The sautéed spinach was some of the best I've had, and I loved the cherry tomatoes with feta. The Tuna was seared perfectly and went great with the soy ginger sherry sauce. I felt like they provided enough of it to. My date's meal was the pan-roasted cold water salmon. I tried it, wasn't a fan of the salmon but the mashed sweet potato casserole was amazing! It was so good, you didn't need any of the brown sugar with it. Our server did a great job! My husband and I went to brunch at Stoney River today and it was delicious. This is one of our favorite restaurants but, it was my first time doing brunch here. It was absolutely delicious. The shrimp and grits were seasoned very well. It is one of the best I have eaten.We had the chicken and waffles as well which comes with bacon, it was great too. I love how crispy the waffle was and the bacon and chicken was tasty too. I will definitely be back. You will not regret stopping by one weekend and grabbing brunch here. It does get busy but we come right when they open typically. Service is quick. I always find the format to be a bit tight but maybe I'm just weird and like my space. Anyways, my dad and brother always get the prime rib. They love it! I'm more of a ribeye person but the prime rib always looks tender. My mom got the bone in ribeye which she always gets and enjoys. She was disappointed as they no longer serve the fried lobster tail. She would tear that up and not share so hopefully they bring it back in the future. I was basic and got the steakhouse burger as I wasn't in the mood for a big steak. The burger was great though especially with the caramelizar onions and dressing. I also got the lobster bisque. Looking over the menu, it looked like it would be a pretty good experience. It was not at all as I remembered. First of all, brunch drinks like mimosas and sangrias are about $5. I can't even explain it You just have to experience it. We sat at the bar and these ladies were BUSY. We decided to go with appetizers and I'm so glad we did! We had the steak rolls which were similar to a Philly cheesesteak, but so much better. The whiskey shrimp on Country toast was our favorite and I could just have this; the sauce is to die for! The crab cake was delicious, and again the SAUCE! We then had French onion soup and it's some of the best we've had. Top it with some coffee and crème brûlée. Went to Stoney River Duluth with 7:15 PM reservations for Mothers Day. Checked in at 7:10 - the girl at the desk acknowledged us and said a minute or two to be seated. Waited 20 minutes. Went back to the same girl and she said they did not have us in the system....which is rediculous since the reservatiosn were in their system and we reveived the e-mail acknowledging it....copy below. This has been one of my favorite steakhouses for years and I'm never disappointed when I go back. The service is always great and the food is even better. We got the lobster bisque and a house salad to start and it was super filling. For entrées, I got the pecan trout, it was incredible. I like this place. We went when there was a lot of prom traffic and yes, the service was slow but the management was very accommodating. We had a reservation through the website and had to wait a little bit, but not too long. I used to get the crab cakes all the time, but Mar 2022, they did not have it on the menu. That was ok, since that was all I ever ordered when I came here and I needed to try something else. The deviled eggs were ok. But the panko crusted chicken, baked potato with sour cream & butter, and broccoli was so good (and I don't usually like veggies from restaurants). K said his cowboy steak was overcooked, so it was 7/10. He usually likes it better but maybe bc it was so busy this visit. He liked the mac n cheese. The cheesecake was good.
