This was a total hack! We walked into the restaurant and asked for a table. Of course the wait time was 1.5 hrs (no way). So we trolled the bar area and found one seat. Then we stalked who was leaving next. To our surprise, the couple next to us was on their way out. We slid into the seat and immediately ordered a drink. The bar area is an amazing place for people watching. One guy next to us read the menu to us while downing a 3 beers. He was the highlight. I ordered the ahi tuna salad and it was amazing! My salad looked a bit messy before it got to me and the dressing, although advertised as buttermilk ranch, tasted like creamy bleu cheese. Not my favorite. First time ever here (and probably last). Arrived here promptly with the family to celebrate an early Xmas dinner as I was visiting from out of town and have to work over Xmas. The food is good and the ambiance is nice. Unfortunately, my mother's order had gotten screwed up along with a few other details. A server showed up with a sandwich and a prime rib for me & my mother after everyone else had been served their meals. He seemed totally confused when I told him the order was incorrect and that it was supposed to be two prime ribs. One prime rib and a potato may have been correct, but I asked him what temp was it cooked to, didn't answer & simply ran off without a word. Really strange behavior to say the least. I kept the prime rib as it looked like it was supposed to be mine without saying more about it. So everyone had been served, except my mother. Her prime rib took an additional 15 minutes to arrive after our food had been served. There were many details that were missed on our orders, one for example, a pepper sauce had been ordered for my niece's steak, it was never brought at all. My mother's prime rib was overcooked when it finally arrived. To make up for the screw up with the order, they offered us a couple desserts. After we finished our dessert, we ordered a couple of drinks. Midway through our drinks, someone came to our table to tell us we had to leave in five minutes. To have the gall to say that is pretty outrageous after THEY were very late with the food and my mother had to eat after everyone else was finished with their meal. This is unacceptable and petty. I have lived all over the world and have eaten at very fine restaurants throughout. Where I come from, the customer leaves when THEY are finished, not when the restaurant wants them to leave. YOU ARE PAYING THE RESTAURANT, not the other way round. This place acts like it's a "fine steakhouse" when the service & attention to detail is far from it. The food is good, but can't say much else about the service & staff. There's plenty of good steak houses out there that have far better service, kinder staff & better food. P.S. Oh and as for the response from below from the restaurant saying to get in contact to "make the experience better". I sent an email along with my phone number and absolutely NO ONE has reached out. First time coming here. There was a 30min wait for a table on a Friday night so we sat at the bar instead. The bar area was very nice and illuminated, whereas the dining area had dimmer lighting. There were two bartenders helping 12-14 people at the bar. They did an amazing job serving drinks and bringing food, and were very attentive to their guests. I came here on a Friday evening, and it was decently busy. I only had to wait for about 20 minutes to get a table. My waiter was fantastic, super helpful and came enough times to be helpful but not annoying. I ended up ordering the New York strip steak with the mashed potatoes with an extra side of Mac n cheese. I believe that I first tried this restaurant several years ago. I returned recently for lunch and was pleased that a place serving high-quality steak was open for lunch. (Most steak places don't seem to do lunch anymore.) My companion and I enjoyed our meal! The salmon, steak filet, lettuce wedge, lobster bisque, and sides were all expertly prepared to our specifications. The only quibble that I had was with pacing. Today instead of cooking at home, we wanted to try Stoney River for dinner. We started with a 4pm reservation booked through the business website. We asked for a booster seat or high chair. We even saw the instructions printed on the intake ticket after check-in. We still had to ask for one. We were seated ten minutes after the reservation even though the crowd was extremely light. We started our meal with spinach dip. I must say it was very unappetizing and asked to have it taken away. The next issue we ran into was the salad. I ordered a Caesar salad. I guess it was chopped but there wasn't much leafy greens, mostly Rhine from the romaine lettuce and very few croutons. As we waited we started to experience a lot of gnats flying around and we were seated in front of the kitchen. We looked up and gnats were all over the glass. I immediately loss my appetite. Our entrees came out. The kids food was okay and came out hot. The wife's shrimp and my cedar plank salmon was warm. At this point I had given up on the meal. I just wanted to pay and leave. We finished our wines and let the food go after a few bites. Nothing was boxed to go. I was personally disappointed in this experience and my was mid meal just wanted to go home. Because the kids were eating and their food appeared to be decent, we stayed until they finished. I must say it didn't appear to effect the whole dining area. It certainly was a distraction and deal breaker sitting near the kitchen. I would currently as of 09/03/23 discourage eating here. Maybe because it was a holiday weekend the crowd was so light. Went here for my cousins birthday with her and her mom as her mom suggested it. I loved the salad (if you can't tell- if I love or hate a Cesar salad is everything). Their dressing was so good and I love the chopped salad style. My steak was less or so my favorite part. I personally feel like it could've been better but I did enjoy it and would try them again. Here for our anniversary dinner. I started with Lobster Bisque and it was heavenly! Very, very good. I also had a cheeseburger. It was too messy and way too much cheese. When I sat down I reviewed the beer selection and asked for a taste of a craft beer. What I received was a side eyed look, a thimble-full in a warm glass and no commentary on the brewer or style of beer. After a few minutes a couple came in and there was an open seat next to me and I offered to move to a bar-top near the window. When I went to order my food I was told eating food was prohibited there and that I had to be sitting at the bar to eat. I explained that I move to help out the couple but I was told I wouldn't be allowed to eat there. So the nice couple got up went to the window bar-top and I ate. Hmm. So i don't really know if i can give Stoney River a great review because i was expecting something different than what i experienced. I was under the assumption that this place was supposed to be high quality like a Ruth's Chris or Seasons 52 but it was more of a upscale Outback. I don't want that to mean that the food wasn't good though because it was. The steak was alright, the crab cakes were decent but the carrot cake was top tier. Drinks were kind of experimental and if that's your thing you'll be fine but if you like a margarita or something just wait till you get home. Our first time here and it won't be our last!! We decided to try this place based on the Yelp reviews for our 40th anniversary and everything was terrific. Don't hesitate to give them a try because they get it right! Our server Sian was a really excellent guy who works normally as bartender and he clued us in that the bar staff is required to do one day a week as wait staff. I think that's an excellent idea as the wait staff and bar has a close daily working relationship among other business advantages for that arrangement. Sian is no doubt a good bartender but I am going to make an effort to get there when he's waiting tables because he is just that good. First of all well the decor is understated casual with bottles of wine from floor to ceiling behind glasses walls all around the spacious interior with excellent and tasteful appointments everywhere, again overstated casual. We had the steak rolls to start and this unusual take on something akin to a potstickers was fantastic, I was totally impressed. We both chose the lobster bisque and having come from southern New England the bar is high and they did not disappoint, it was just the right consistency with sweet lobster meat that was not overcooked or minced, well done. We also both chose different salads, money had a mountain of delicious chicken and once again we were impressed. While they have some delicious looking offerings of steaks, fish & chicken dishes and apparently are heralded for their deviled eggs, can't wait to try those, we we very happy with our eclactic celrlebratory lunch choices. We are certainly looking forward to our next visit soon and would highly recommend them for lunch or dinner. read more

First they said we can't be in the main restaurant because of short servers so they told us to go to the bar.
