We had an amazing character dining experience here! The characters made frequent rounds to each table, giving guests plenty of opportunities for interactions, photos, and memorable moments. The buffet offered a great variety of delicious options, and the service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit. We've also dined at Goofy's Kitchen in the past and if I had to choose between the two, I would pick this character dining experience. First, you get to see Mickey Mouse here (although Goofy is not part of the lineup). Second, the characters seemed much more interactive, engaging, and personable with the children. Third, the buffet selection was noticeably better with much more appealing options. An added bonus is that you receive three hours of complimentary valet parking when you validate your parking ticket with the restaurant, making the experience even more convenient.
This place is great if you really love Disney characters and want to interact with them. They are fun, interactive, friendly and entertaining. The staff is great also. They are attentive and friendly. Now the food..../the food is just ok and in my opinion a bit overpriced for the selection and quality. I think it's more for the character experience. Now the food isn't horrible. I just can't justify the price. It's a buffet style type of place. It's $70/person. My favorite items were the prime rib, the beef brisket, pork belly and the bread pudding. I also had an espresso martini. It was decent but not amazing. If I were with a party that want med to interact with thr characters, I'll come back.
You're never too old for Disney, no matter what anyone says. And if they do... they're probably miserable and you should honestly feel bad for them. Reservations are highly encouraged and the best part is you don't even need park tickets since it's located inside the Grand Californian Hotel. We went for brunch and they had the standard all-you-can-eat spread with a salad bar, fruit bar, and dessert station. Some standouts for me were the Mickey waffles, lox salmon, heirloom salad, tri-tip and believe it or not, the hot chocolate!!! The food quality and variety honestly surprised me in the best way. What really made the experience magical was the character interactions. Every character came directly to our table, took their time taking photos and made the experience feel so personal and memorable. At around $60 per person, it actually felt very worth it considering Disney pricing and the overall experience. Whether you're bringing the kids or coming by yourself, this brunch experience truly felt like part of the Disney magic. I'd definitely save this for a special occasion visit. Pro tip: ask for a hot chocolate to-go before you leave!!!
We had quite the experience at Storytellers Cafe. We were celebrating our daughter's birthday and mine. She had suggested this option as she knew that both granddaughters would enjoy it even more than we would. The food is mostly good. There were a few tiny misses as far as flavor expectations versus what the items actually tasted like. On the other hand, I got to enjoy the most delicious fresh blackberries I've ever had! The lox were also really good, and I allowed myself a small bit of the flavored cream cheese (not supposed to have cow's milk dairy). Loved the scrambled eggs, which were really fluffy and tasty. I'm not a big eater, but I was able to taste lots of yummy items. Service is serve-yourself from the buffet, with a table server to clear plates as you go back and forth to the buffet line. Ours was nice enough, but he didn't impress our daughter, who was paying for her group of five, while Dear Hubby and I paid our share for the two of us. Their French macarons for dessert were also amazing. Better than expected there! Sweet Granddaughter (age 6) had great fun asking for / receiving signatures from the roaming characters - Minnie & Mickey, Goofy, and Chip & Dale. It was on the loud side in the cavernous dining room. Ambiance is. . .interesting, with an emphasis on the history of storytellers coming to California in the Mission era.
*Tourist Trap* Located in the Beautiful Disney Grand California Hotel & Spa. Service was wonderful and my daughter loved all the 6 different characters going around while we ate. The hotel and restaurant are beautiful. Now the problem. For my Wife, Daughter & I to eat there, it was $200+. The selection was very minimal and the quality was so so and much under other nice hotels I've been to. The omelette bar and Mediterranean Quiche were the best. The cappuccino (for extra money) was good. The rest was plan Jane. Potatoes not cooked enough, hash browns not cooked enough, regular quiche had weird consistency, the rest of the food seemed rather low quality. I'm glad my daughter enjoyed the characters, but that will be out last time. *I'd rather spend $300 for us 3, if it was high quality!*
Buffet brunch and character dining -- is there any better way to spend a birthday? Storytellers is one of those places that you need to try at least once. We were lucky to get a reservation on a Sunday because we booked well in advance, which is hugely recommended! From the moment we entered, the energy in here is incredible. Candisse greeted us, wished us happy birthday, and even made a birthday button for my triplet sister who wasn't joining us that day. It's such a small touch but it made us laugh and my sister who couldn't join us really appreciated it. The buffet is actually super solid. Like, I was expecting hotel breakfast vibes but the eggs were fluffy and the Mickey waffles were overflowing. There was no scrimping here. They also have much more than just breakfast, including a few salads, a carving station, teriyaki chicken, and Mac and cheese. There's also a pretty extensive dessert and fruit station. We also had a great time interacting with the characters. It's a little awkward as an adult sometimes knowing how to interact but they were so funny and Mickey had us cracking up with his reactions. Overall, I would say, the experience is worth the price tag to try at least once.
We had dinner here last night for my son's birthday, and it was incredible. We have been here before, and it remains my son's absolute favorite. In my opinion, Storytellers Cafe is the best character restaurant on property, compared to Goofy's Kitchen and Plaza Inn.They offer a high-quality, buffet-style meal with excellent options. There is a huge variety of meats, including prime rib, pork, and chicken, alongside tons of delicious sides and desserts. The highlight of the night was the character interactions. My son gets so excited meeting everyone, and seeing his reactions is truly priceless. They also brought him a birthday cupcake with a candle so we could celebrate. If you want great food and magical memories, this is the place to go!
We LOVED our time at Storyteller's Cafe! We went for "The Christmas Carol" themed dinner and had the best time. It really was the highlight of our holiday season! Food- 10/10. The food was delicious. I especially loved the salmon, salads, and desserts. It's buffet style so you could get as much as you wanted. They had food for kids and adults. So yum! Service- 9/10. Everyone was soooo kind and helpful. The only bummer was that I told our server that it was my dad's birthday and he said he would bring out a birthday cupcake but he never did :( I even reminded him and it still didn't come. Experience- 100/10. The characters were soooooo cute all dressed up. They go around to every table, so everyone has a chance to meet them and take pictures/videos. It honestly was so fun and really was the highlight of our holiday season. Extras- Valet parking was included, which was really nice. I believe the pricing is $60 or $65 a person, which is totally worth it in my opinion with the food and experience that's included.
Storytellers has been one of my go-to restaurants on Disney property for at least 20 years. It has almost always provided a great, buffet experience and certain dishes that have been on the menu for decades. On this visit, we took my daughter to the character breakfast. She loves Mickey and Minnie, so this was a must. They also have Chip, Dale and Pluto here, although Pluto never made it over to us. The service here was good. We really liked our server. She was very attentive and got us drinks and cleared our plates pretty frequently. The current brunch menu has a really good assortment of both healthy and comfort food items. I love that they have so many fruits, berries, yogurt and toppings like chia seeds and good granola! My favorite was the smoked salmon and all the toppings for you to make an excellent lox-like bagel. All of the hot food items I tried were good. I especially liked the ham and the tri-tip at the carving station. There is a great make-you-own omelette station with good options and all of your standard breakfast fare is there. The only thing I didn't love was their quiche, but the tomatoes it was served with were quite tasty. For dessert, Storytellers makes the best bread pudding of any buffet over ever been to. If they have it then it is a must. They have other good desserts, but I was much too full to eat anything else at this point. Note: The characters may take time to get to your table, so plan on being here for a while if you want to see them all.
My son loves attending character brunches and dinners here. At 4 he's also into trying a variety of foods. During breakfast, his favorite items include their sausages, eggs, hash browns and fruit. He's not a waffle guy but I'm working on it. At dinner, I like the variety of foods for those of us who don't eat meat. It's more than just salad. You can get some pretty tasty butternut squash ravioli here. My son loves trying everything from the kids pizza and pasta to their roasted chicken and vegetables. Service has always been pretty great for us and if our waiter sees we're looking for a certain character to visit before we go, they make it happen. Bathrooms are located inside, which is very nice for the newly potty training crowd. A ok!
This is one of my most favorite character, dining experiences in the Disney bubble. I come here regularly every time I stay at one of the resorts and it never disappoints first of all the brunch breakfast buffet is so delicious you can't go wrong. The lunch is just as good but the dinner the dinner that's where it's at !!! the dinner is the best so many good food options and the desserts just as good . If you have little ones they will love it. It's completely worth it. The characters come to your table, they dance, they interact. It's just hard to describe the amazing feeling ... I mean, even me as an adult I continue to come here and my son loves it !! Go ahead and book that reservation because walk-ins are pretty much unheard of so get on your app and have fun.

Storytellers Cafe at the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort felt like a completely refreshed experience after the remodel, and the new buffet line really impressed me. Everything I tried was delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly high quality, even down to the plates, which somehow made the food feel even more special. I liked how easy it was to navigate the buffet without feeling rushed or crowded, which made the meal feel relaxed instead of chaotic. The character visits were a lot of fun and nicely paced, with a mix of big name favorites and one character that felt like a deep cut from the Disney archives, which made it extra charming. Yes, it's pricey, but that's kind of expected here, and for this visit the food, atmosphere, and touch of Disney magic made it feel worth it. Key Points: - Best Character Breakfast of all. - Sirloin Beef Roast *drool* - Plenty of character interaction As of now, it seems the Fam and I have tried all Disneyland associated character breakfasts, including Plaza Inn, and Goofy's Kitchen. It seems we have a winner: Storyteller's is the best character breakfast of all! The elegant decor, easy access through Disney's California Adventure, and diverse character lineup made this place stand out. We came here for The Little One's birthday. The food, was certainly impressive. Here's some items that stood out to Me: - sirloin beef roast: some would call it a steak but technically it's not. It was tender, juicy, and beefy flavored, cooked to medium rare perfection. I'm guessing they used sous vide, with option for horseradish sauce. - bread pudding: not usually a fan but this time I was! - Beet salad: A delicious healthy option. - Omelette station: also included options for egg whites. The cook didn't need to write anything down and just remembered all the details of the orders. Wow! - Mickey Waffles: technically we've had better versions of these elsewhere but having an unlimited supply can't be beat. Characters we saw included Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale. The Little One had plenty of meet/greet time with them. She had a blast! While the frequent character performances were fun, they felt a bit excessive, and disrupted our ability to get up for food. Some people may like this though. Overall, a memorable experience and our go-to for character breakfasts if we go again. read more

I had a reservation at Storyteller's Cafe for Mickey's Adventure Breakfast on a Sunday, and even though I arrived an hour late, the staff was incredibly accommodating and still able to seat me, big points for hospitality! The food itself was average for a buffet-style brunch. I had an omelet, hashbrowns, and of course, Mickey waffles. While nothing stood out as exceptional, it was a satisfying meal, especially when paired with a refreshing mimosa. The real highlight was the character experience. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip & Dale made multiple visits to my table and were very interactive, not just with me but with all the guests. Their energy really brought the Disney magic to life and made the meal memorable. Overall, a great place if you're going for the character interactions more than the food. Would definitely return for the experience, however, I would suggest visiting for the dinner menu! read more
Been a long time since coming here Really was here for Donald Tales of Adventure Reservations highly recommend on the app to make adjustment and add dietary needs Was able to check in 20 mins prior in the app and receive text when table was ready Polite personable host and greeters This specific Buffett is limited role only from 4pm to 9pm with character dining to ideally see Donald daisy goofy Pluto clarabelle but of course no guarantees Buffett theme is catered toward bbq from brisket to ribs and fried chicken and prime rib and roast chicken along with a pasta of the day in this case lobster raviolis all the various sides from mash potato and crème corn and corkscrew Mac n cheese and fried items like fried chicken fried chicken strips and fried shrimp along with french fries plenty of salad selection fresh cut fruit and to make your own meat and cheese boars combo along with 2 types of sorbets that was watermelon and lime during my serving plus cookies different puddings and petite desserts Food was tasty and fresh, meat was tender, fried items were not greasy and crunchy exterior The mash potato crème corn my favorite and the Mac n cheese I would hope many kids would love Both hot and cold stations were well stocked and kept clean and tidy Our server Yoko continuously checked up on us and Kyrie? Was pleasant and friendly Can be loud but certainly exciting to see all the characters and eat tasty food I would recommend this place but knocked it a star because the booth provided though nice in the corner was a tight squeeze for our party of 5 making it slightly awkward to meet the character and be seated comfortably. 2nd because Donald who I was looking to seeing as he is my favorite literally skipped our table on 2 occasions but were able to meet everyone else eventually. Overall great experience and value and there is no time limit to complete your meal by. Dinner was $58 prior tax and gratuity and applicable discount and there is children pricing too. Family, kid, and adult friendly. Also they will provide a tour if one has dietary restrictions such as vegan vegetarian needs or GF and cook up specific offerings for you. read more
This place is located inside the hotel. The staff here are amazing. They are so welcoming. It's a buffet style and I came here for breakfast. They had a variety of food to choose from. Everything was delicious. It took awhile for the characters to make their way to our table, but once they started making their rounds, it was memorable. read more

I have to give this place 5 stars because the food is delicious. They don't just put frozen microwaveable food on the counter. You can tell the food is quality and served with fresh veggies/ fruit etc. Every time I went the servers were accommodating and friendly. The environment is clean, haven't seen the buffet area messy with spoiled food. Storytellers has characters out during dinner time now. Feel free to come dressed up as your favorite character as well I seen that here especially during this time of year for Halloween. Also, convenient connection to downtown Disney to shop and walk off your food. The only thing I would have to say is the pricing. But if it was cheaper I'm sure a reservation would be extremely hard to get. So book in advance! read more

This was a highly entertaining and pleasant experience for our family! First visit and was a lot of fun, the characters are great! Can't say enough good things about them coming by your table and are eager to engage with you and will sign any autograph books or items you want too! The food was delicious, we had high hopes but the chefs choices exceeded our expectations! We really had a great time. You can check in 20 min before your reservation and they will send you a text when your tables ready, we got a complimentary button as well upon entry. If you want to be seated before your reservation time though after checking in you will need to tell the staff at the from table because they will wait until your reservation time to seat you even if you checked in early. I highly recommend this and will come again soon! Definitely a wonderful time! Lots of smiles from us all thank you! read more

we went to Storytellers Cafe on March 28,2026 to celebrate my moms birthday. Carlos was are server. He is amazing. If you go to Storytellers Cafe make sure you have Carlos. He is a rockstar. He is the best. He made our vacation to disneyland special. we went during the mickey and friends breakfast. The food is amazing. The eggs are so fluffy and just melt in your mouth. This is my favorite resturant hands down. The staff and everyone their do such an amazing job. worth every penny. The Character ineractions are amazing too. They keep coming by your table and making you smile. this place gives world class guest service, i cant wait to come back for my birthday in november. i hope Carlos is their . Thank you to everyone that made our visit so special and memorable. read more

Ehhhhhh. I spent about $60 (P.P ) for mediocre food. The service was fine, and the character interaction was good. The food items were okay--the meat was cooked to the right temperature, but the flavor was just average. The sides were not very good, and the dessert tasted cheap. Decor was nice . I will not be back and would not recommend it. read more

Sorry - huge fan of this place! You're here for the characters,...you're paying for the characters. Came for breakfast. Food was pretty decent honestly. Had a delicious cooked to order omelet...probably a highlight for me. Mickey waffles also good too. Plenty of fruits as well. I'd give the food 8/10. But the characters! Wow they made our day. A fun but pricy stop at the end of our Disney parkhopper day. I was very impressed by the spirit and energy of the characters, as well as the ambiance and variety of food. The characters convey so much even though they do not speak! The characters were dressed according to the theme of Donald as a wild adventurer. Get your stomach ready for all you can eat dinner buffet, and cater your expectations appropriately! For the most part, everything was seasoned appropriately and cooked ok, although depending on when you got to the food, the texture may not be ideal. Their produce tasted so fresh- who knew that I liked raw asparagus? I was also impressed by the fruit tart, the salsa/guacamole, the five spiced pork belly, the ravioli, and the turkey, which was well cooked. They was also a nice variety of picked vegetables. Less impressive was the apple sorbet (which tasted like apple sauce but frozen), the berries (quite sour) and the prime rib, which was a bit mild in flavor and was a bit chewy. Service was also excellent, and they remembered to give my friend a nice little birthday cupcake to celebrate her special day. read more

Went to Storytellers Cafe for the first time and we went the day after we went the parks to conclude our Disney trip. Reservations were easy to make on the Disney app. Checked in on app and received a text when our table was ready. It is a very spacious dining area. The buffet didn't look like much at first glance but I was wrong! There was everything from breakfast items to sirloin steak. Everything was delicious and so far this has been the best character dining experience! There were 5 characters that made their rounds multiple times and they did a couple parades/dances as well. Our server was great. He checked on us often and made sure our drinks were full. We interacted with every character and love that they really take their time at each table. I am a big Disney fan and we come here every year to have brunch as a family. Yes, a little expensive especially since we went this year during the holiday pajama party. Over sixty per person is a little steep - a 3 star for the price. Experience - 5 star coz I love the characters and how we can take photos with them. The food is pretty standard. For brunch, they have the standard - bacon, eggs, sausage, biscuit and gravy, lox and bagels, lots of fruit, chilaquiles, pot roast, chicken, and let's not forget the mickey shaped waffles. We got there at 9:40am and stayed until almost 11. When you stay that late, the lunch items start coming out - popcorn shrimp, fries, and chicken tenders. Because we ate there, we were able to get our valet validated with free 3-hr parking. We walked around the hotel and took more photos since the tree was still up. read more

But if you prefer a more relaxed, adult-friendly setting with characters, Storytellers is the better fit. Overall You're mainly paying for the character experience, not the food. Dinner is cheaper, but it typically features lesser-known characters like Donald or Clarabelle Cow. If you want Mickey and Minnie, brunch is the way to go. Ambiance: 10+/10 Service: 10+/10 Food: 10+/10 My kids and I went to the Mickey's Autumn Adventures Brunch on a Friday and had rezzies for 1250pm. We arrived about 20mins before rezzies time and were seated by one of the nicest Front of House hosts, America, about 2mins later. We got cast member table waiter Daniel and he was the greatest! Very funny very friendly and he even made caffeine jokes with me! So much fun! Character interactions here have never been less than 9/10 or 10/10. Cast members and characters were all so attentive. So if you ever receive anything less than this, you probably just had a worker with one off day. they happen. (wait for my Galactic Grill review). Food. How should I put this.... I didn't grab every food choice but what I DID grab was nothing less than a 9/10! The chicken drumettes... my kids and I will rave about these till the end of time. So perfectly cooked and Juicy and tasty. if you're a chicken lover and not picky that it's not fried, THIS is the chicken to have here. The stars of the show, for me, Smoked Salmon and Pork Carnitas Chilaquiles! But the Chilaquiles were so tasty and perfectly spicy. Yes, it's spicy but not overtly where you're close to seeing the sky; but perfectly spicy enough to where you know what's goin on with the spicy. perfectly flavored and cooked carnitas (pork) wrapped in tastyfull (yes, I know it's not a word but it is now) and flavorful tortillas! Grab some if you go! (also check out Lamplight Lounge for their Chilaquiles)! I ordered a soda and the carbonation is... well. if you like McDonald's carbonation then you'll enjoy their sodas here. water was enjoyable too! overall, 15/10 per usual. we'll be back for the holidays :) read more

I made reservations for Storytellers Cafe 60 days in advance because I saw that they were doing a Fall themed menu and decor. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time and were seating about 5 minutes after. Our server was very friendly and attentive - she brought us coffee and water and made sure to check on us frequently. As for the food, I do not think they offer nearly enough food options for the price. They had breakfast items and we left full, but I feel like they only offer the bare minimum - I have been to less expensive buffets that had a lot more options to choose from. Also, they have characters that walk around, but apparently not all the characters visit both sides of the restaurant? We were there for about an hour and only Chip, Dale and Pluto came over. We saw Minnie and Mickey, but they never once came over to our side to say hello. That was a bit of a letdown especially for my 8 year old daughter who was very much looking forward to seeing some characters. Overall, I don't think we would come back here given the price. I think the other character breakfast places like Goofy's is much better! read more

This place is such a great place to get a little bit of everything when it comes to brunch.y favorites were definitely the fresh fruit and desserts. The character interaction is also super fun! Overall worth it read more
I've been to Disneyland so many times, been a pass holder for many years and had never been here before. As a first timer I can say it was perfect! My baby loved it and had such a Fun time dancing and interacting with Minnie, Mickey, and everyone. Highly recommend. Was hyped about having my niece at Storytellers Cafe. They do go off of reservations so make sure to plan ahead of time. Upon arriving and checking in we did still wait 20 minutes. Once we were sat we went to their buffet style line to grab some food. It was ok. I did like how they had fresh fruits. It was nice that we were able to see some characters instead of the busy park. read more
We had a 7:30 AM reservation here to celebrate after our RunDisney 10K. If you're a fan of character dining, this place is definitely for you. However, to be honest, the breakfast was very underwhelming. The only highlight for me was the make-your-own omelette station. Most of the pastries were dry, including the Mickey waffle, which was a bit disappointing. I also found it odd that the shredded hash browns were cooked in a spicy sauce. The carved ham was dry as well--I only had one bite. They did offer a fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal station with small, rock-hard bagels and some smoked salmon. On the bright side, the characters interacted with us a lot. Having an early reservation worked out well, as Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip, and Dale paraded around the restaurant and stopped at each table. Although we were told Minnie was busy making waffles and didn't get a picture with her, the others came to our table twice. It seems like they've raised the prices recently--it cost $130 for two adults for an average breakfast, and they even charged extra for Iced Americano refills. With tax and tip, it added up quickly. Honestly, I think I'm still comparing it to the amazing breakfast buffet we had at the Hong Kong Disneyland hotel last year, which was the best I've ever had. Unfortunately, Storyteller's Cafe just didn't measure up to the Disney standard. read more

My friends and I went to Storytellers Café at the Grand Californian this past weekend. We had reservations when they first opened, and they weren't busy yet (many empty tables). This is a buffet style meal, there were many options and plenty of food. The busers were great, constantly checking in and clearing our empty plates, but the character attendants were slacking. We saw a couple of characters coming so we waited to get our food, and thank god we did! Because although characters appeared to be moving clockwise around the room the whole time, one time Donald went rogue and went counterclockwise so no one from our table got to see him, and he never came back. When we were next to see Goofy, it was time for their little show and break, so he missed us too. We told one of the servers/character attendants that we only saw half of the characters, and she said we weren't guaranteed to see them all. That was very surprising to me, in WDW I have seen characters twice sometimes at various character dining meals. Just not the same magic I was expecting, especially at that price point. read more

The restaurant is inside the Grand California Hotel. Valet parking only. Long line to valet. They do give 3hrs validated parking. We came to celebrate our anniversary but no one seems to ask if you're here to celebrate any occasion. We did see on the app you can add a cake for $40. We went for brunch. The food is buffet style and didn't seem like a big buffet but let's just say I did not go home hungry. They have quite a selection from omelet server to a variety of pastries, your usual breakfast layout of eggs and bacon then there is a meat carving station and selection of salads, yogurt and cereal. Nonalcoholic drinks are included in the price. Pricing however did change. When we had booked the reservation it was posted at $55. Our bill was a bit large and upon checking the site it is now $65 per person. The experience was cute. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip and Dale came around the tables a few times. We felt bad not wanting to take up too much of their time for pictures but they did not give rushy vibes. They stayed and mingled and noticed they interacted with kids of all ages, being mindful not to scare the littler ones. read more
This is easily the best bang for your buck when it come to Disney meals. For a little over $40/person with kids under 3 for free, eat as much as you want. Eggs, omelettes, pastries, cereal, bacon, sausage, Mickey Waffles, and so much more will be available. Seating is spacious and comfortable, plus you get characters coming to your table to entertain your little ones. Service is extremely expedient and everything else you need to order comes in minutes inside the comfort of an actual restaurant. We'll definitely be back. read more

Having last visited this restaurant at the start of last year, I liked the large amount of seating available (booth or table) and music playing at a moderate volume but was disappointed in the vegan breakfast option of a omelette made of hash browns containing vegetables as well as fresh fruit, vegan Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, and oatmeal. Upon entering the restaurant recently, our group was warmly greeted and quickly seated. After I informed our server Matthew that I was vegan, the kitchen's chef Christian came out and shared with me which items were vegan on breakfast bar and added that waffles and yogurt were also available and that the yogurt is nut based. In addition, I was pleasantly surprised to see a vegan omelette made with vegan egg, vegan cheese, and vegan soyrizo along with vegan Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, vegan yogurt with granola, hash browns, and oatmeal. When I approached the made to order omelette station, I was elated to see a sign with vegan options clearly note. After having my vegan omelette made by the friendly chef, I returned to my table and enjoyed my breakfast while my friend and her son enjoyed interacting with the various Disney characters that came by during our meal. having finished my big breakfast of the vegan omelette, yogurt with granola, Mickey Mouse shaped waffles, and fruit, I left the restaurant feeling satisfied but not stuffed and excited about my next opportunity to eat at the restaurant. read more
I'm giving this a little bit of grace by giving it 4 stars. I've been to the cafe for dinner when it was at the GCH. Right now, it's in a conference room since GCH is being renovated. We made reservations and when we got there (after much walking and going through essentially a maze of hotels from DCA), the hostess said we could check out the food before committing since the buffet offerings were much more limited than their usual buffet but at the same price. Indeed.... The buffet offerings were more limited but we nonetheless decided to sit down and eat. They let us bring in our stroller and park it at the table. What food they did have was yummy and we went back for seconds and thirds. However, until the storyteller cafe goes back to its original location, I'd say wait bc the price is not fully worth it for a limited offering. For us, it was at least okay since we have the magic key discount. read more

Amazing ambiance and service! So cute inside and was a nice break from the crowded park. Pricey but the food is high quality. It's different than a typical buffet in that there aren't that many choices but the choices they had were very good (especially the salmon and prime rub) it also comes with beverages and if you ask they bring ice cream. We went during the lunar new year time and weren't very impressed with the deserts. But in the past we've really liked the desserts. My family also loved the 2 types of shrimp offered. read more

I love character dining! It's one of my favorite thing to do, even if I don't go to one of the parks, I will drive out for a meal. Which exactly is what I did at Storytellers Cafe, located inside the Grand Californian this past Monday. I went to Mickey's Tales of Adventure Brunch Buffet with a friend who has an Inspire key so it was easy to get a reservation and get a discount! The cozy Craftsman-style dining room is a warm, friendly backdrop while the character roam the restaurant to greet guests. The characters for breakfast and brunch were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale, dressed in their explorer outfits. FOOD: The buffet includes hand-carved meats, fish of the day, chilaquiles, croissants, muffins, danishes, fruits, eggs, bacon, hash browns, Mickey Waffles, an omelet station and a dessert bar! Everything I had was delicious. I had an omelette, bacon, prime rib, fries, caprese salad, gluten free Mickey waffle and fruit. Gluten-free Mickey Waffles available! You just have to order it with your server but I was disappointed in the lack of gluten free options. My only gluten free dessert option was the soft serve or a gf blueberry muffin (I went for the muffin and it was ok). DINNER: The current dinner time is not character dining, but starting mid-May 2025, it'll be Donald's Tales of Adventure Dinner Buffet with Donald, Daisy, Clarabelle, Goofy, Pluto. It's a BBQ menu. I can't wait to try it and report back! SERVICE: Just like all the other Disney properties, the staff and cast members are all professional, friendly and want to make sure you're having a good time. A staff came over and asked my friend if we met all the characters. CHARACTERS: There's actually quite a lot of character interaction opportunities during the meal. They stop by every table to greet all their guest- kids and adults! When they play the 'song', all the staff claps and all the characters dance around all the tables. I always have a good time at character dining! Good food and fun photo oops with the Disney characters. read more

Well the hotel itself has 3 hour free valet parking, but if you feel like you need more than that then you can always park at downtown Disney.

No. I just ate here and I live in the area and definitely didn't stay in the hotel. You just have to make reservations pretty far in advance.

Yes. I was able to use Apple Pay, but I had to walk up to the register. Our server didn't have a mobile scanner to process at our table.

yes, but don't waste your time. No characters, food was mediocre. Don't see any reason to take kids. Save your money.
Do the characters come out during brunch hours 11am-1pm on a weekday?
Yes, I was there for brunch on a Wednesday. The characters came out about every 20 minutes or so.
Are there gluten free options?
Yes! The chefs are great there, so ask for one to visit your table when you check in, tell them your food allergies and they will personally make food for you!
I do not have a theme park ticket, can I go to the Storytellers Cafe, and if so can I use my Disney Redemption Card there? It was accepted in the past.
Yes you can go, I don't know about the Card, probably, this restaurant is not in the park so anyone can eat there.

Yes, the buffet is definitely worthwhile, just not with the $66 Simba parking lot fee. I didn't realize I was supposed to park at the hotel. **Locals: be sure to know where the hotel validates parking, otherwise dinner might cost $200 for 2.

We had to keep refreshing on the Disney app to get a reservation. Otherwise, you can try calling the Disney CA hotel and see if they will transfer you.
