My family and I went to Stout's for dinner on a Sunday night, at least a few hours before closing. Our plan was to sit out on the patio but we didn't see any chairs. My husband went inside to ask about that and was told that earlier, it had been too windy and they'd removed chairs from the patio area. However, at the time, it wasn't particularly windy, which my husband reminded the worker inside. He was told that they were only offering "dine-in" service. My husband noted that we would just go somewhere else, wherein he was met with a lackadaisical "Ok" response. First off, there was only one person in the dining room and one family of diners leaving when we arrived, so "busy", it was not. Secondly, it was no longer windy outside and items blowing away was not a current issue. Finally, and this is really important to note: WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A PANDEMIC. Our family is selective about eating out and making sure we are socially distanced, staff is masked, and we have ample outdoor seating with plenty of ventilation (read: open air). Stouts seemed to fit the bill. Until it didn't. I haven't eaten at Stout's in quite some time so I can't comment on the quality of its food, unfortunately. We enjoy pizza and often order from a few of our favorite establishments. We were simply looking for a new(ish) place to try, but weren't given that opportunity. I honestly can't understand why our business was so arbitrarily dismissed but I can say that we'll never go back again to find out. And that's unfortunate because we're avid pizza lovers. The first time I went there was about six months ago for a Yelp event. But my Yelp CM taught me not to review a restaurant based on a Yelp event. Everything is free at most Yelp events, so it wouldn't be a fair review. Well, we happened to be in the area yesterday so we stopped in just so I could write a review. The prices are a little bit on the high end, but the pizza is OFF THE HOOK! The wife had a Meditteranean (spelling that is like trying to spell Mississippi) salad and we ordered a medium chicken bacon ranch pizza - a medium size pizza here is plenty to share between two people and still have left overs. Like I said before it's just a little bit on the pricey side but all the ingredients are fresh and they make their dough from scratch - you can see them making it in the front. They have a good hand full of draft beers to choose from and they also have a small arcade to keep the kids occupied while mom and dad get their buzz goin'. LUNCH: Unfortunately most of the tables were dirty. They had not been wiped or cleaned. The place was not busy yet the employees are chilling instead of keeping the dining area clean. We got the caeser salad. It was pretty good. The croutons & the dressing were tasty. We got the Supreme Pizza. The Pizza was decent. The toppings could have been cooked a bit more. The bottom side of the pizza was a bit soggy. The cheese was good & melted. The crust definitely could use flavor. The food is just okay. Nothing really special. Since I'm always on the hunt for a great gluten-free pizza, I decided to stop in at Stout's on a Friday around 5:30PM. Located on the side of a strip shopping center, Stout's is sort of easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Walking into the restaurant, I was greeted by the employees, who all seemed to be high-school/college-age boys. I was slightly concerned about the lack of gloves and hair nets. Pushing past my germaphobia, I still decided to give Stout's a shot. I ordered my gluten-free pizza, was given a number and sat down in one of the 15 booths around the restaurant. The decor isn't the nicest, but it suits the atmosphere of a laid back pizzeria and it was pretty quiet. My pizza was ready in about 10 minutes, and it was absolutely delicious. It was cooked thoroughly, the edges were slightly crisp, and the sauce wasn't overpowering. I will say that the crust was a little saltier than I usually expect, but it was still delicious. The size of the pizza was 12", 8 slices, but very thin, so it ended up being slightly less than fulfilling for me, as I have been known to devour whole pies alone O_o Overall, I would go back and get Stout's if I had the craving for some GF pizza. I will say it's moderately priced (~$13/pie) compared to other GF pizzas in the area (aka. Mellow Mush). Check it out!!!! read more

UPDATE: Customer beware! I decided to go to the store in person to address the below concerns and was told that the owners will no longer even allow managers to rectify order problems. In other words, if your pizza is uncooked and doughy like ours was, you are stuck with it and they have no power to fix your order. Who does that? ORIGINAL REVIEW: It makes me sad to write this, partly because of my previous positive experiences at Stouts and partly because I love their pizza. And yet, two events happened last week that has spoiled my taste for Stouts. We ordered two pizzas on March 31. Two small pizzas, $31. I have come to expect paying more at Stouts and have continued to do so because of the quality of their pizza. When my wife arrived with them at home and we began eating them, we quickly realized that both were undercooked and doughy inside. As most people know, after a long day and when you resort to grabbing dinner en route home, the last thing you want to do is arrive at home to undercooked food. But, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES. As inconvenient as it was, I don't even write a negative review because of uncooked food. I write because of how it was handled. We called the store. The woman who answered apologized, multiple times. But then, the new problem began. I expected one of two proposed and traditional solutions; replacement pizzas or store credit. We would have been happy with either. But neither was proposed. We were told to check our email and respond with the problem to the receipt we received. That was a first. I had a live person. She acknowledged our problem. And she sent me to my email to complain? Okay, we did. No response. We sent in the problem another way. No response. Did I mention $31 for two small pizzas...that were undercooked? If I pay that much for pizza, and it is uncooked, I expect compensation or replacement or another solution. I don't expect to be blown off and sent to email a complaint without a response. My husband and I have a lot of pizza consumption experience. We stick to independent places for the most part. I make my own pizza a la Peter Reinhart's method. I age my dough at least overnight, if not longer. With that in mind, the flavor of a crust is integral to the quality of a pie. We ordered a good old pepperoni, which is our go-to for visiting someplace for the first time. I'll start with the crust: For someplace that touts the fact that they bake pizza on a stone, the stone would make more of a difference if the crust tasted better. The flavor just wasn't there. The texture was quite good, though. I missed semolina on the crust, though, but that's just a personal preference. The crunch and the bubbly edges were nice. Underside was a wee bit underdone (again a personal preference). The pizza preparer wore food service gloves. He did, indeed toss the crust. Toppings: I am paying $18-ish for a 16" pizza, a high quality pepperoni is warranted, not Hormel grocery store-type 1 1/2" rounds. Perhaps Boar's Head. A higher quality of mozzarella shouldn't be too much to ask for, either. And I want good sauce. It was without flavor. I am guessing it was straight from a can without any added herbs or spices. Even salt and ground pepper would have helped. Other stuff: The ambiance is pleasant, although a bit spare. It is spotlessly clean. Didn't use the restroom. There is a station to bus your own table. I suppose that is okay, but again, $18 pizza and self bussing? Military discount is available, bringing the price of the pizza down to a little over $16. Husband and I agreed we would go back if we were on a road trip or out shopping in the strip mall wherein it was located, and wanted a decent pizza. But we wouldn't make a special trip. read more

Stopped in here tonight on a whim, great little pizza place. Stout's is owned by the same people as GAme Town pizza and they refer to this location as their 'grown up' restaurant. For only being open for four days it was fabulous! The food spoke for itself - very good! The service will get better, as well as the atmosphere and I look forward to coming back closer to the grand opening which will happen in December. Stout's support local Texas wineries and breweries as well. On Thursdays they have a special, $21 for a large pizza and a bottle of wine. 3/15/16 - update... Dropping 1 star after last 2 visits. still really good pizza, but the crust has been noticeably "tougher" the last 2 times we dined here, and the salad - now at $8 - has not been as fresh as it should be. I had a hard time justifying the $8 salad price for basically a bowl of spinach - even with the generous addition of bacon, parm, walnuts and cranberries. and if you are going to charge that - then the salad needs to be FRESH please. The crust is what gets me craving STOUT'S pizza above all others - it's crisp on the outside, pillowy soft on the inside and has just the right "chewiness". sauce is another taste that is intrinsic to stouts - fresh and light, sets off toppings to perfection! and cheese toppings ratio is good too - not too much and not too little - it's just right. toppings are top notch too - even mundane hamburger isn't so mundane. Our new favorite is burger, shroom, tomato and spinach - YUM! (3 topping 16" is about $18) salads ($6-$7) are fresh and good too. I like the medeteranian with the lemon vinagrette instead of the balsamic that comes with it. salad has spinach, walnuts, bacon, cranberries and shaved Parmesan. Lemon vinagarette has a nice herbacious lemony flavor. another in party had Caesar and found it tasty as well. Diet Coke AND diet dr. Pepper on fountain - keeps both me and hubbie happy. wine and beer available. buy a bottle of wine on Thursday nights and get a 16" 1 topping pizza free. pretty much a self serve place - order at counter and they bring your food to table. WooHoo! When I heard the owners of Gametown Pizza opened a new location inside the Loop, I jumped at the chance to go. My dad is in town so we ventured in together for a late lunch. I'm really diggin' the new space. If GameTown is their spot for kids, this location is decidedly adult-friendly. There's still a small game room if you want to bring the bambinos along, but what you'll find here is a much more sophisticated bar space that still caters to local brews and wines. Also, you'll still find a great locally-sourced menu. The salads Jason and his team concoct will always be my favorite. I love watching the dressing be made right there in house for the pleasure of my pigging out. I had their avocado salad (you can order small or large and add chicken if you feel so inclined). It was excellent. The ingredients were fresh, delicious and covered in a house-made dressing that I found myself craving again later that night. So, I went back and ordered another for takeout. Don't let this deter from the pizza though. Their pies are perfection. Every bite is delicious from crust to toppings, and you can feel good about knowing that the ingredients you're consuming come from local farmers and are handcrafted each and every time you place an order.
