So due to the Covid this is the sign outside. I was not only asked to leave, but I was fingered towards the door by the old lady at the front. As you can see the sign is completely inaccurate. As a Long Islander, I am a professional bagel and matzoh ball soup connoisseur. I was very impressed withthis place. Had to wait a bit for a table, but it was worth it. Huge portions, great quality, very good service. I will return. I had gigantic bowlof matzoh ball chicken soup. probably enough for 4 people and we split a tuna (platter) with a freah everything bagel. We left full and with two iced teas it was $23, which I thought was well worth it. The waitress wven gave us to go cups. I got some rainbow cookies to ho (my favorite). I love Strathmore for their bagels and soup but attitudes not cool. I have been in service industry for years but if I spoke to a customer the way the vietnamese lady spoke to me, I would be fired. This woman might have already been having a negative day but she didnot need to take it out on a customer. Couldn't believe when I made a statement about cream cheese price that I wasn't charged that much before, she said to me in a loud angry voice, "Hell No!" This place used to be great. But the owner is lazy and the food has suffered. They use cheap deli and the food just isn't what it used to be. Good bagels but if you order a roast beef on rye, you get the exact same crappy meat that you can get at the Publix deli counter for a third of the cost. Boar's Head? For $15 a sandwich? Avoid this place until ownership get's their head out of their ass or sells it to someone who cares because they clearly don't. They are destroying a once great establishment. Just tragic. read more

My husband and I arrived at about 2pm on a Sunday. We weren't immediately greeted, in-fact we were never properly greeted. My parents have been going there for some time and apparently assumed, my family knew about it. Well, we went once and have been going at least one day a week. It was only after repeating my order for the fifth time that the staff told me they were out of my order. I couldn't look at the menu because there were no menus available and the menu on the wall has too small text to be readable. We were frustrated. Your staff were very frustrated with each other. The whole thing was a disorganized mess. If you guys actually put in a working online ordering system it would solve like 80% of your bottlenecks. Your customers would thank you. My family and I have been coming here for over ten years now, and it's never been anything but lovely. I came here after my high-school graduation, and now every time I visit from college. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly, and the meals are delicious. Every bagel and shmear you could ask for can be found at their deli counter, and the most generous breakfast servings at their dine-in tables. Terrible Service, very disorganized, rude staff. When you say something to the senior hostess (this morning) all she can say is we are understaffed. She then dissappeared. The restaurant was dirty especially the counter area for takeout. What disturbed me the most is what I saw this morning (4/24/2022). I was in line and there was (1) plain bagel left in the plain bagel bin. One of the workers walked over, took the bagel out of the bin with no gloves on, removed the bin and put the bagel on the dirty shelf that holds the bagel tray. She then returned about (5) minutes later with a fresh tray of bagels, picked up the bagel with no gloves that was sitting on the dirty shelf, and put it back on top of the fresh bagels and then served it to a customer, gross!!! This is the type of stuff that is going on every weekend. To make matters worse, the high school aged girl that helped me complained to me that I said something negative to the hostess. They wonder why I stopped tipping them since the service is terrible. They have been closed down several times from the health department, maybe I should call them and report what I saw. Stopped in Saturday July 3, 2021 for takeout. Sign on the door was ragged and dirty and said hours were 2;00 pm close time. It was 1:55. So I thought I had 5 minutes to get in get out. I wanted sliced turkey off the frame. But machine was getting cleaned and was not available. Looked like the cleaning had been going on for some time well before closing.
