YUMMO! This was the PERFECT place to check out while we were visiting Minneapolis. Not being from the area, I relied on Yelp to guide me in the right direction, and this place did not disappoint. We started with some cocktails. We both went with the Cocky Mule - SO GOOD. Moscow Mules are easily my favorite cocktails, and this had a very nice twist with the addition of Tattersall Sour Cherry. Definitely recommend. For an appetizer we tried the tempura battered cheese curds. These were very good. It came with a homemade ketchup to dip and it paired perfectly. I am not a big fan of ranch dressing with curds, but it seems like EVERYWHERE you go that's what you get. It was very nice to get something a little different this time. For my main, I went with the PB and Bacon burger. Peanut butter, bacon, fried egg, syrup... It was like breakfast on a burger. Really tasty. My friend went with the Bourbon Brown Butter burger. Growing up in Wisco, I'd like to think we know a thing or two about butter burgers - this one was spot on and excellent. If I were to find myself back at this place, I think I would order the Butter burger. The fries that accompanied both our meals were excellent as well. The building itself very neat. Outdoor seating. My son and I came here one night last week and had the one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. I sent an email to management in hopes of a resolution to no avail. Our server Thomas B was terrible. He had us waiting quite some time for him to greet us initially. I was interested in the pretzel stuffed burger and asked him a question about the cheese in the bun as the burger has a pretzel bun "stuffed with cheese". I asked him if it was really melty and had a cheese pull, he answered condescendingly with "that's kinda the point". So, I ordered that with smoked gouda and onion on top, MINUS the bacon. My son ordered the same burger, as is. We both ordered our burgers "pink". When our order came someone else delivered it and nobody had brought us ketchup/mustard beforehand or with our meal so we waited a while for our server, Thomas, to come check on us as servers usually do once you receive your food but, he did not. He was too busy going back and forth between the same two tables. It appears he was the only server however, he only checked on two tables and left the rest of us ignored and unattended to. Not only did they forget about us, Thomas got our orders WRONG. My burger had all the things on it, including bacon. I don't eat pork at all and that would have been a fun night had I ate that burger. My son's burger had no cheese, no onion and no bacon. It was late, my son and I had a long day, we were hungry, and just wanted to go home at this point. Since our server was not checking on us nor was there anyone else to help, I asked the bartender for ketchup/mustard. My son and I decided to just switch burgers because we don't like to send food back, people do weird shit to food when it gets sent back and we were hungry . . . He ate my burger and I ate his with no cheese and my onion added. The burgers were not the slightest bit pink, they were DONE done (and cold at this point), the bun had ZERO cheese pull, I honestly couldn't even tell there was cheese in it and I had a cheeseless burger. There certainly wasn't enough of a remnant of cheese to deserve such a rude response from Thomas when I asked about the "cheese pull" in the bun. There was none. Not a bit. Thomas never checked on us, not even ONE time while we ate our food. He didn't even look our way. We sat there with empty plates in front of us for about 10 mins before he finally came over. He asked if everything was ok so I told him about the burgers being wrong, the lack of cheese or cheese pull in the buns, and the lack of service on his end and all he said was, "Aw, that sounds frustrating" and brought us our check. Instead of making a scene with this server who clearly gave ZERO fucks, I took it up with management but they are not responding to my issue. I want my money back. I circulated about $45 for two wrong burger orders, terrible service, and cold food. This is not our first time eating here but, with how this has been handled, it will DEFINITELY be our last!! I've been here a few times and it's a good place for just your basic bar food and burgers. There are a lot of drink options and a good tap list. I went the other day though and didn't really love the burger I had. The romaine salad was really good though. The service was just okay. I'm not in a hurry to go back but I'll probably go back to the Stray Dog at some point. read more

Wander into Stray Dog for tasty bar food eats, a nice selection of drinks, and a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. Their happy hour deals are very nice. The drinks are all reasonably priced, and all of the "sharables" are $2 off. That means that the ahi tuna tacos and the bacon-wrapped dates, which are normally $3 each, are only $1 each during happy hour. And they're both delicious, so you can craft an amazing taco + dates dinner for cheap! The server was also friendly and even brought a few samples of different beers, so that our out-of-town guest could figure out what to order. I have given this place many chances, but it's always a disappointment. From the rude staff and extremely slow service, to the over priced mediocre food, it's all bad. It's the kind of place where the staff makes you feel like you should be thankful to be there and everything you do is an inconvenience to them. The last straw was when I was in with a party, and they refused to let us sit together. Mind you, all of the tables were open. We were in the back corner and they made us sit at separate tables rather than pushing them together. Such a fun experience to have a meal with friends! We had a reservation at 8:15. We were 5 minutes late and were sat at 8:21. A lady brought us over water. At 8:38 I decided to get up and see if we were for gotten about. Your manager stopped me, and very passive aggressively with a smirk on his face stopped me, I asked if we were forgotten about. He then starts listing off he knew when we were sat, and aggressively was being quit rude. Taking our order he continued his passive aggressiveness ONLY toward myself. All of my party noticed this. No apology came from him while i thanked him, his back handed comment of "THERE IT IS!!" I decided to address the issue about how he was directing his aggression towards me. mind you I'm speaking calmly, stopping every single time he tried to interrupt me, to prevent me from yelling. I explained how he was making me uncomfortable, before he blew up at me "I don't know you". I gave up saying anything else due to I had an entire party to think about it. And walked back to my table. At 8:53 another table was seated in his section, he came out and greater them within minutes of being seated, and started talking about how I was talking to him minutes ago. Surprisingly great food! I've been here before but that was a LONG time ago and I was not completely sober. Didn't get food at that time. I'm so glad we decided to meet up here for brunch. First of all, our waitress was GREAT! She was very friendly and accommodating with our 1 year old! She brought out his fries so that he would not get all crabby. She could also relate because she has a young child also. We ordered our meals and they came out in great timing! I ordered the cornbread pancake and sausage, sorry can't remember the name, but the flavors were flipping amazing. The perfect blend of sweet and savory. Who does not enjoy that? Stray dog indeed have a tasty food! I rarely eat burger but since I had a it in London I wanted to give it a try! I order Smokey cheddar and bacon burger with seasoned fries and pickle. The patty was soo juicy and tasty. I loved it every bite! I wish they would add more cheese on it bout again taste matter and they nailed it in that department. The burger is big for me so I just ate half of it but hey it's my tummy I can't eat too much but that burger was delicious!! Seasoned fries were yum too! I don't know what seasoning it was, defiantly not spicy but tasty! I had it to go so I won't comment on ambience and parking as I placed order through grubhub. My wife and I were SOOO excited but we were SOOO disappointed! We drove all the way from the Ramsey/Elk River area tonight to try the new Stray Dog. We were really excited when we found out they were open. And we were even more excited when we found out that the menu is almost they same as the old Bulldog and that many of the same staff were still there. We LOVED the food at the old Bulldog NE. They must have had their B Team on duty in the kitchen tonight because the cooks really dropped the ball! We were so bummed out! My peanut butter bacon burger (flavor) was good but the croissant bun was really dumb. It was soft (of course) but also soggy and it disintegrated when I touched the burger. It was impossible to eat without falling apart. My fries were rubbery and under-cooked. It looked good sitting on the plate but it was a failure. My wife was really excited about the chicken & waffles but she actually got angry when it arrived. The waffles were soggy, floppy, doughy, and under-cooked. And the chicken was overly greasy. She was grossed out by the syrup. Again, it looked okay on the plate but it was a failure. We brought all the food home in 2 big boxes and fed it to our 160 pound Mastiffs. By the way, the staff were all super nice and super professional, as always. And the beer selection is great. But they screwed up the food. I really don't know what's going on here. The latest photos on Yelp show some really great looking food. Why was ours so lame? Were they understaffed tonight? Is there a lack of training and supervision? Was our timing just bad? Overview: great when you need a whole lot of calories and you need them fast. Context: my dining companion and I decided to try this place out when we were recovering from our Covid vaccine boosters. We wanted a lot of calories, for a reasonable price, preferably in the form of American food. Stray Dog checked every box. We ordered take-out. My companion picked up the meal, and reported that the restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere: low lights, hardwoods, exactly the kind of place you'd imagine from reading their menu. My companion got the New Yorker burger, and found it entirely satisfactory. They were somewhat surprised by how cheesy the cheesy bun was. I got the Junk burger. My goodness, what a masterpiece of a junk burger! It was the burger that all other junk burgers aspire to be. It was a symphony of grease, a kaleidoscope of fats, protein, onion, lettuce, and tomato. It was the best kind of too much, the perfect thing to eat on a snowy winter day when the body demands more insulation against the cold. (A suggestion to those not wholly devoted to the pursuit of grease: order this burger with a turkey patty or a vegetarian patty; the bacon, the fried egg, and the mayonnaise do enough for the burger that you really don't need the beef. I consider that to be another point in this burger's favor.) We ordered what Stray Dog calls a "Sin roll" for dessert, and that roll took the meal from "a classic American indulgence" to "glorious hedonistic excess." The roll itself, devoid of any toppings, was a high-quality cinnamon roll. Then add the bacon-filled caramel, and you have something that exceeds my capacity to describe. (I honestly wasn't as "into it" as my companion, because I don't like bacon as much as most people, but that's on me and not on the roll.) The whipped cream was the perfect counterpoint. We stopped here before going to drag bingo. It's on our food list. The decor is definitely fun! Clean seating area. We got the bacon and scallion cream cheese wontons. Ugh! So amazing! The rich cream cheese with the salty bacon! I could have ate them all! We also shared the truffle tots. ! If you like truffle this is for for you. Nice crisp, plenty of truffle! We shared the PB and bacon burger. This is peanut butter, egg, bacon, and maple syrup on a croissant! What a great combo and the syrup added just a hint of sweetness. It needed more peanut butter but that is personal preference. Now I am a lover of Chicago dogs and they have one. I asked specifically for no onions (personal preference) they brought out the dog loaded with onions. They were more than happy to get us a new one. Stray Dog was the perfect post-Halloween-party hangover cure. Two of my best ladies and I rolled in around 2 PM when we finally were ready to greet the day. There were a couple of folks at the bar, but the place was otherwise empty. We were seated at a booth in the window and given water with an extra bottle for refills straight off. Bless you, Stray Dog. Drink orders were taken quickly (Bloody Mary, ginger ale, and Diet Coke) and delivered promptly. The menu was full of delicious-sounding items and it was super hard to choose what route to go. I'd been years and years ago when it was Bulldog and the menu seems to have some overlap from what I remember. The Brussels sprout-topped reuben is definitely on my list for a future date, but I kept it simple with Smokey Cheddar and Bacon burger. Double-cut bacon and smoked cheddar on a soft bun and maybe a 1/3 pound patty? I requested my bacon crispy and my burger well done. In a rare occasion, I got exactly what I asked for without either being dry or burnt. I'd give five stars alone for this, but the experience was wonderful all around. The fries that accompanied my burger were also good enough for a visit on their own - natural cut, crispy, and just the right amount of grease and salt to bring one back to life after a long night out. I tried a sip of my friend's bloody and it was full of pepper and pickle juice, AKA delicious. I also sampled a dip of my other friend's garlic aioli she got with her tots and it was really tasty. My only criticism is that their soda was on the flat side - both my ginger ale and my friend's Diet Coke could have used a good dose of bubbles. Shoutouts to our server - I didn't catch her name but she was blond with glasses and just really great. In addition to being super nice she made sure my food was cooked to my liking, that our glasses never ran empty, and cleared dishes within a minute of finishing. If management sees this, please give your server on the afternoon on 10/29 a high-five. Glad this place is walkable from my BFF's apartment; I'm sure we'll be returning in the future. read more

If I could give "0" I would! The management at this bar is the worst I've ever experienced. I had thoughts of returning on a future visit "home." Not now. I made reservations to surprise my Mom on Mother's Day (flew from NV). Brought her grandkids too. We had reservations for over two weeks. Two reservations. We were made to sit outside. It was cold. My mother (70) was cold. We saw open tables empty. We requested to move. "they are reserved." We had two reservations for indoors. We offered to split the party. "Reserved!" Not an apology? Nothing. We sat for lunch for over two half hours with only one Bloody Mary. No refills on water, drinks or anything. We sat outside for over 30m before we searched for service! Food was barely warm. I called the restaurant and told to email In. The was asked how I could be helped, essentially. I explained, AGAIN! I was ignored after that. I tried to make review on Facebook (deleted)! Contacted by the manager, AGAIN! I let him know we already been in contact. Email & Facebook. I sent screenshot. I was AGAIN ignored! Our Mothers Day was ruined and not even an apology to be had!!! Nothing!!! Poor business ethic. I'm so disappointed. I support small businesses and this will be one I'll not give a second chance due to poor management! There were multiple mistakes in our orders- which I understand sometimes happens but the staff was not particularly apologetic. He didn't check on us once to ask how the food was and never circled back about drinks or water refills. Saw the server maybe 3 times in 2 hours. Went here for the first time the other night. I was so excited because they have a full vegetarian menu, with a few different burger options. I got the spicy burger that comes with Jalepenos on it. I wanted to stray from the impossible burger, which is what I usually choose at any restaurant. I wish I hadn't. The burger I ordered was somehow sweet? and not savory, although it was spicy. So a spicy and sweet homemade burger that was extremely mushy. It did not stay together after the first bite. The fries were lukewarm at best. And the worst part was the burger was upwards of $15 dollars. My fiance's fries were so cold he didn't eat them, and he will always eat whatever is in front of him. Nothing really brings your food emotions over the top but overall you can leave satisfied if you order a few dishes and willing to overlook poor dishes. Had a burger, chilly, nachos, and wings. The burger was a little dry but the flavors were good. Someone mentioned the burgers were better than red cow. Might be a personal preference but I don't believe so. A well done burger at Red Cow is juicy but dry in Straydog. Chilly was tasty overall. Nachos were mostly chips without much anything else. Wings were very dry without ANY sauce. Stray Dog is one of our NE mainstays. Their burgers are to die for, and they have vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, etc. accommodations, making it a great place for a crowd. The stuffed pretzel burger is our favorite burger in the twin cities, which is high praise, I know! The truffle fries are also fabulous, along with the accompanying aioli. This is also a surprisingly great spot to get steak tartare, which can be hard to find in the twin cities without going to a fancier French spot. Before the pandemic, they had a Monday date night with two burgers and sides, two beers, and two cupcakes for $30! The best food and value date night we have found in town. We can't wait to return for date night again soon, but in the meantime, their takeout is getting us through these trying times. read more

I love Stray Dog NE. Love it. Last night I needed a date night & spouse took us right to Stray Dog. We were greeted immediately by two of the servers who know us (yes, we're there quite a bit) and seated in one of our favorite spots. We ordered off both the specials and the regular menu. It's not often that a simple salad makes a big impression, but Stray's interpretation of the Green Goddess salad was wonderful. Light, flavorful, with perfect butter lettuce and freshly made dressing. Everything about it was perfect. I snarfed it too quickly to remember to take a pic!
