Great spot! We stopped here after the Van Gogh experience and loved it. We only will eat on a patio as our son is immunocompromised so we felt comfortable enough on the patio. I believe they have 2, one out front and one on the side (I'm totally unsure about that one tho) large menu that has a pretty unique menu. If you want to get something really bad for you (cheat day!) or something lighter you would enjoy this place IMO. The ambiance and great and the service was good especially considering they are assumingely short staffed. I had the bourbon burger and it seemed fresh and juicy. Not dry at all which is a huge turn off with burgers. My husband had the tator tot hot dish which he really enjoyed! And even tho they don't have a kids menu they still accommodate kids but having hotdogs, burgers and chicken fingers. A great spot and would stop again. Fell in love with this place! The atmosphere was very hip & oddly put together for all the dogs around. The menu was separated into vegetarian vs meat, making it easy for vegetarians - I love that! My boyfriend and I got 3 dishes & were full after it all. The wings with rooster sauce were tasty & meaty! The tuna tacos were also delicious, with a lot of guacamole. Finally, the cubano was good! We ordered delivery. Order total was almost 80$. Brisket nachos ordered with NO onions or jalapeños, but arrived with both. Chips were both burnt and soggy. Inedible. Truffle cheese curds had literally 1/4 cup grease in the bottom of the container and basically inedible unless we wanted a gallbladder attack. Daughter #1 bun on burger completely soggy/wet, fries burnt, soggy, no ketchup. Daughter #2 gluten free bun was not soggy but fries burnt and soggy, no ketchup. We did not specifically order ketchup, but isn't that a given with fries? When I called to explain x3, the phone operator said there was no voicemail available, please hang up. Was looking for someplace I hadn't been for dinner with a pal and decided to try this spot (in part because they were on open table). Got there around 6 and was wondering why I made a reservation for a Wednesday night as this bar/pub was pretty quiet. By the time we left after 8 the place was packed and everyone was enjoying the great bar food. Definitely a place that attracts the after work, after workout crowd for some tasty chow. We made a meal just from the appetizer menu and tried a bunch of different items including the succulent (but super messy) wings, the bacon&cream cheese wontons and the nachos. I loved the decor they had, many various painting of dogs and a painting of minneapolis! The food came out in a timely manner and they gave a glass of water that we could pour ourselves! Stray Dog is in a lovely Victorian building in Northeast Minneapolis. It has high ceilings, a gorgeous tin roof and a casual vibe with a separate vegetarian menu with some creative and unusual offerings. The menu is confusing, with a hodgepodge of vegan and vegetarian items mixed together and too many configurations of burgers listed, with three different patty options---house-made vegan, a vegetarian burger or a Beyond burger. The housemade vegan burger ($13) is pretty good and full of beets. In an era when almost no one makes vegan burgers in-house anymore, Stray Dog offers a rarity and does a decent job with it. The Beyond burger ($12) was less interesting and I doubt I'll ever have it from here again. Both burgers suffer from a really crappy white bread bun. I wish they had a potato bun or something more interesting. They occasionally have vegan specials. Their vegan cassoulet ($15) was spectacular and deeply savory with a mixture of herbs. It was the perfect winter treat: warming and hearty. They made it with a mixture of jackfruit and Herbivorous Butcher meats and it should be a permanent menu item, quite frankly. Lastly, I love their togarashi tater tots ($7) and fennel tots ($7). They're expensive, but oh-so-delicious and unusual. Come to Stray Dog for a beer and a nice vegan meal. read more

I found this bar while randomly driving through downtown Minneapolis with a friend looking for some beer&food before our flight. The crowd was very lively for a Sunday afternoon which was exactly what I look for in any bar. Amazing local beer selection on draft, wish I had more time to try the different beers. I ordered the Junk Burger with side of onion rings and after not eating anything since breakfast it was exactly what I needed. Burger was really juicy and loved having the fried egg on top. I was also shocked at how quickly the food came out after we ordered, which was really beneficial since I only had one hour there due to the flight. That's when I was told the system had a glitch and my order never went in. I had to leave empty handed. Service was great, food was good (I had a Beyond American burger, kids had kids cheeseburgers, all enjoyed), and they had a very nice tap list that had some gems. I don't love the make the music loud vibe, but I get it, it's a bar. Other families were nearby so felt family friendly (they do have a kid's menu). Overall very positive experience. This restaurant does not clear the sidewalk in front of their parking lot all winter long. This is a disaster of packed down snow and ice and everyone is struggling to walk by. Completely inaccessible for anyone in a wheelchair. I went to Stray dog around dinner time and it was just the right amount of bussin. Lively atmosphere and FLAVORS. i got the rooster burger and it was undoubtedly a top 15 burger in my life. This place is good for what it is. Decent food at a decent price. I made a reservation on their website through Open Table for a Sunday at 12:30. They don't have a parking lot so you have to park on the street. Their website indicated that street parking is free in Minneapolis on Sundays which is no longer the case so I paid at a meter I got in and told the hostess I had a reservation and she pointed to my table instead of walking me over which I found a bit strange. After my friend arrived, we ordered We started with the cream cheese wontons which were hot and delicious, very good size serving for the menu price. I got the sausage griddle from the brunch menu which was surprisingly average. The sausage patty had a weird taste, and it just seemed like the flavors of all the elements didn't work together. My side of Parmesan hash browns were clearly just mashed up frozen tater tots. My friend got the tuna melt which she said was good but a little tough to eat since the tuna steak was so thick. She also enjoyed the Parmesan fries. I did appreciate that the appetizer was free thanks to a coupon I received after making the reservation The service by our waitress was great and timely. Overall, this isn't a place I'm in a hurry to return to but if I'm in the area, I'd give it another shot and go for a burger, which seems to be their strong suit read more

I always seem to find myself craving cheese curds or soy dogs and Stray Dog was just the right place for me! With moody lighting and fun art decor, the ambience was very fun and upbeat (a bit tight space-wise). The cheese curds were excellent, a little on the smaller side but had the right amount of crispness. I do wish it came with a sauce (there may have been an option to add one). We ordered a huge variety of vegetarian meats including chicken tenders and tots (off the kids menu :)), the Venezuelan Not Dog, and the Spicy Vegan slider which made me wish we sat at a booth instead. I absolutely loved the Not Dog, the chips and pickles worked so well with the hot dog. I wish I ordered two of them! The coleslaw that came with also had a unique sesame, umami flavor. The slider was pretty spicy and had a bold flavor that I've never had before but not sure it was my favlriteSince I don't eat meat, I thought the vegetarian tenders had a pretty meat-like texture and came out crispy as well. A selectively lit bar cum restro-pub with quirky decor on the walls and sunlight shimmying in through small, old, square windows. Stray Dog offers simplicity in its combination of burgers and beers and other bar food. It does so with little pretense and the promise of ever changing local brews on tap. It is places like these which keep the notion of brunch from being lost in small portions and too little alcohol. We went here one sunny afternoon on a weekend and got a table immediately. I had the spicy vegan burger which thankfully strayed clear of refried black beans and offered yam, edamame, corn, mushroom, farro, rice and beet powder in deep fried form. The tanginess of this burger coupled with the spice of jalapenos and a dusting of cayene and the crunch from the whole thing being deep fried made a memorable substitute for a meat burger. Paired with a local chocolate-coffee flavored stout, I found myself reminded of the good old veg burgers I've had on Indian street stalls and washed them down with a chocolate shake. Further visits are due, with tastings of meatier options. This till then remains a solid venue for an after office happy hour turning into early dinner or just a weekend bout of boozy self indulgence. read more
