I went there with a group of 7 on a Friday night. I had been bragging about how great the prime rib was and 4 of the group had never been there. 3 people ordered the prime and were very disappointed on the excess amount of fat on their steaks. Stopped in for dinner with friends. We ordered the sliced beef sandwich, liver and onions and the ranch burger. All entrees were good. Some wanted dessert. It was a choice between a slice of peach pie or peach cobbler . Our waitress suggested the cobbler.. A piece of peach swimming in juice and a scoop of ice cream. I ordered my meal: 12ounce ribeye medium baked potato house salad w/ 1000 island and then green beans are their seasonal veggies. The steak is approximately half fat, as shown in the photo to the left is fat pieces and to the right is actual steak. Baked potato, veggies are good very delicious House salad was only spring mix no lettuce. We just had a fantastic dinner at the Strayhorn Grill!! The service (Joey) was wonderful, the food was great and it was very reasonably priced. Very good local joint. I've been twice for breakfast on the patio with our dog. Service is very good and so is the food, try the breakfast tacos, they come with a cup af green chili that was very yummy. Haven't been for the prime rib but that will be what I try next. read more

Had the chicken fried steak and eggs with biscuit and sausage gravy little lady had ham and eggs. Homemade biscuits are great, chicken fried and ham fantastic. Service was spot on, very conscious of what we needed, efficient and courteous. Definitely appreciate this local establishment. First time for breakfast here and I definitely recommend. Stay away from the Fish & Chips at this place. The fish filets were not authentic filets but rather some kind of pressed fish product of very low quality. Stopped by the Strayhorn Grill while we're in Fruita and it was absolutely delicious! The steaks were cooked perfect to order, mine medium and my husband's well done. The green beans were fresh but well cooked and the verde pozole was fantastic! Great service, good sized portions, clean and nice appearance, and a wonderful overall experience. I have had so many great dishes here. I love the lamb chops, love the ribeyes, all of their entrées are consistently cooked to temperature. their food is delicious, and their staff is friendly. You'll get consistent service and consistent food. Best restaurant in the local area. read more

Some of the food was good, but none was especially great. The service was bad. We got at least one dirty glass with residue caked to the inside. There was hair in the green chili sauce. The waitress got an order completely wrong, bringing out a taco, despite having clarified with us that we wanted steak done Medium. For instance: "How would you like your steak cooked?" "Medium, please." "Medium it is! ....and here's your taco....." The waitress also forgot our side dishes and had to be reminded, but she did give one refill of water. We did not try dessert. When we arrived, the young hostess was on the phone. She didn't make eye contact with us or say anything for about 5 minutes. It was uncomfortable. Our waitress was fine at first, but then it was kind of obvious she didn't really care or was in too much of a rush to care about our experience. Food: Mom had the mushroom burger. It was cooked to her liking, and she enjoyed it. Dad had the 4K liver and onions (4K?). It was overcooked and tough, and he went on about how it wasn't good for quite a while. Husband had the chicken fried steak. He seemed ok with it. I had the salmon. Not good. It was way overcooked. It was fishy flavored - it was old. It was dry. Then I got a bone! I was going to bring my leftovers to my dog, but now I can't feed them to him because of the bones. $24 The mashed potatoes and green beans were good. Really liked them. The roll was hard and tasted like baking powder. My salad was mostly huge "weeds". There were a few pieces of other lettuce I could fit in my mouth. Dad and Husband got the green posole soup. Both disliked it. Husband said it tasted like dishwater. Dad said it was "sad". I actually liked the broth quite a bit, but there were sparse pieces of hominy that fell apart when you ate them like they'd been cooking all week. A nice thing I would like to add is that when they say "generous pour" for their wine, they mean it. The server was ok. I think they'd be more upset about the food quality. read more

Update 9/14/18: Went in for a second time at the new Fruita location. Seated promptly and our waitress was very pleasant and helpful. I ordered the Western Slope Sunset, a drink made with vodka, raspberry liqueur and pineapple juice. I received a brownish drink and after one sip realized I'd made a mistake in ordering it. It just wasn't good so I drank my water. After serving our meal, our waitress noticed that I hadn't been drinking it and asked about it. She then offered to get me something else. I ordered their margarita which I'd had before. We watched her go over to the bartender and the bartender get pissed and refuse to make a different drink. The waitress was super apologetic. I've never once had this happen. I rarely send food or drink back but I've never been refused to have it made right. We'll think twice before returning again. First visit to Fruita location: They've moved locations into Fruita which is great for us! Had the flatiron steak with mushrooms, roasted potatoes and their yummy green beans. Everything was excellent! Hubby and I shared and the waitress didn't bat an eye (I hate being made to feel bad for splitting a meal. It's 100 degrees out, we just can't eat thaEven their Strayhorn Margarita was very good (better then most Mexican restaurants ones!). Daughter had the pulled pork sliders appetizer as her dinner and they had a huge pile of fried onions which were the star of the show!
