We haven't been here in years, and went this morning for breakfast. It was so delicious! I got the Ky Special which is two biscuits with gravy, two eggs, and choice of meat. I got the Goetta and it was prepared crispy just the way I like it. They leave a carafe of coffee at the table, which I love! Our server was Cassie, and she was excellent. It was a big breakfast crowd and she handled it with ease. I noticed how clean the restaurant was, the bathrooms as well. It has been non smoking for years, which was pleasant too. $20 for two breakfasts and a coffee! Can't beat it! We will definitely be back for breakfast again, and to try their lunch/dinner. They have a nice bar, lots of TV's, a happy hour, drink specials every day, dinner specials, and entertainment, which I think is Karaoke on certain nights. I don't usually like leaving bad reviews... however. Stopped in here real quick to place a takeout order. Stood at the bar for 10 mins before anyone came up to us. Asked if I could place a to go order, she said yes and handed us a menu. It was a breakfast menu and it was 11:35am. I had to wait another 10 min to ask if they were only serving breakfast. She asked what time it was and said "on no" and handed us a lunch menu. I waited another 10 minutes without anyone coming up to us. So we left. There were literally only 4 tables full, all had meals but one who was ordered when we walked in. I would understand if they were busy. read more

My husband and I were told to try this place by many friends We almost didn't because of the reviews! I'm glad we decided to go!! It's a great small town bar and grill!! Their portions were huge, customer service was great and our food came out quickly!! We both had biscuits and gravy, mine with ham and his with bacon. A coffee carafe is on the table which helps the staff and customer. Sadly, I was too hungry to remember to take a picture! To give a one star because of the entrance is horrible to do to any restaurant, but especially a local one!! Go here for breakfast and you will not be disappointed! Servings are huge and everything comes out timely, hot and fresh. It's everything you could want from breakfast standards. The pancakes are definitely large enough to be shared. Kids and adult approved!! A fun little "hole in the wall" type atmosphere (in a good way). Who would ever guess it! Attended a Culinary dinner at Stringtown bar and Grill last night which was prepared by owner Chef Potter and it was absolutely amazing! Heard about it from some friends, made reservations and so glad we went! Perfect from the barbecue shrimp/risotto appetizer, mouth watering leg of lamb entree and pumpkin mousse carrot cake! Unbelievable for the price!! Dinner was served in a charming private room next to the bar where karaoke started about the time dinner was over. We stopped into the main bar and had a beer afterwards, listened to some really good singers which was also a pleasant surprise! What a nice evening! My family and I just happen to stumble bothers place accidentally when looking at the mural that they have painted outside. So we went in and it was lunchtime and there were three guys sitting at the bar in my waitress was outside so I just sat down somewhere my family went to the restroom they came back and she walked over and we ordered our drinks and she brought us menus. The place was dead and still have plates and things from breakfast crowd just chilling on the tables which was fine they never did come get them while we were there but nobody else came in while we were there either. This is definitely a bar that has music and drinks and things like that at night and they have food in the afternoon so I like places like this but I can see why it has a lot Of negative reviews because you know it's not the most fancy die in establishment the waitress was not nice to us I would say I mean she was OK but she didn't really pay as much attention I had to get up and get my own water and get my wife a Diet Coke and the other with a whole lot of interaction there she was outside smoking and things like that which none of that bothers me at all but I can see why this has a lot of negative reviews. But the place was cool on the inside I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the place and the music they were playing was rock classics which I liked. I got a turkey club and it was fantastic very flavorful and awesome tasting. My wife and oldest daughter got burgers and they both gave them 5 out of 5 and my youngest got a pancake and she loved it. The food was fantastic five out of five especially for lunch and I hit the spot and we enjoyed it a lot the atmosphere at the place was cool no reason why I'm giving us for I guess is because we really kind of waited on ourselves yeah there wasn't any kind of friendly thank you you're welcome home hello my name is none of that stuff which is fine that's whatever to bar but for sure is great food read more

We ordered a combo platter to share for lunch I was disappointed with size and contents for money we got 3 mozzarella sticks 3 onion rings 2 chicken tenders and 2 fried pickles for $13.00. Only the mozzarella sticks came with a sauce everything else was left to be eaten dry. I also ordered the French onion soup and I was not a fan. We went in the front based on the directions. Went in, waited by the door while being ignored by the staff for about ten minutes. We then realized there was another entrance at the back too. Apparently no one was keeping track of who came in when because finally a server came over and told us we should probably go over to the end of the line by the front door. Nope. My goodness, when I was told they had the best french onion soup in the area, i definately was not misinformed! It is outstanding! The Netherland salad is right up there with the best that I've eaten anywhere. This is not a fancy place and if you were just driving around, you would probably miss it but it is well worth seeking out. Service was so very friendly. This place has been around forever... My family went for a "last breakfast" before I headed back to LA. It's nothing fancy. They have a smoking and a non-smoking section so yeah, it smells a bit like Las Vegas in there (but I really don't mind that!). My breakfast (two eggs scrambled with cheese, biscuits, bacon and home fries) was pretty good. Home fries could be cooked a bit longer, but they're still better than most of what passes for breakfast potatoes in restaurants. Everyone else was happy with their meals. Omelets are HUGE. A little "well done" too. But not bad at all. If you want a casual, cheap and hearty breakfast, you should check this place out. But you probably already have... it's literally been there forever. read more

I've come here on occasion for karaoke and drinks with my lady friends and have been pleased with my experience. The drinks are dirt cheap here - I can get a pint of amaretto sour (yes, a pint!) for $4. Karaoke is great - there's usually not a long wait to sing another song, you can easily do five a night. Everyone cheers for you too, it's a great time. On the other hand, Stringtown is definitely a Florence country bar. Lots of middle aged folks in blue jeans drinking Budweiser. Fun for some, but not exactly my crowd of people. In fact, I stick out like a sore thumb being from the "professional urban" community. The biggest turn-off for me is the smoking. Yes, it's a bar in Kentucky. My gripe comes from getting hoarse on my second karaoke song because of the amount of smoke. I feel bad for the bartenders. I would give Stringtown an extra star if they went non-smoking. read more

We use to love this place. Great food and excellent service. And we have tried several times since Covid to support this small locally owned business. But the service has went down hill. I understand it's hard to navigate these times but after multiple attempts we are not seeing any improvements. Hopefully things change soon. read more

I'm leaving an average score also. The only time I've been to Stringtown was for breakfast. Just average breakfast,nothing to write home about. It's basically your mom and pops restaurant, bland American food. Cons: The whole place smells like an ashtray, even nonsmoking in which we asked for. Maybe one of these days Kentucky will be nonsmoking...probably no chance, especially since tobacco is its number one cash crop. read more

I went here for the first time on a visit back home for Christmas, it was a suggestion for breakfast. Walking in the front door you are smacked in the face with the smell of smoke. Well, if you had any appetite it's gone now. Sick. I am not custom to smoking in restaurants anymore so it definitely caught me off guard, but regardless.....it was gross. I was adamant about sitting in the non smoking area. Which just so happened to be in the back corner of the bar. It was dingy and outdated. There were 7 or 8 of us so we pulled a few tables together and ordered our food. It took an hour to get our food which I felt was crazy being that there were like 5 people total in the whole place aside from just our group. The breakfast was okay, goetta was good (mainly the reason we went) and the biscuits and gravy were just ok. I'm fairly certain the gravy came out of a can because it was very bland and flavorless. Went here for lunch with my coworkers a few weeks ago. We waited for what seemed like hours. We ordered mostly fried food. There was only a couple other people in the restaurant, which was quite frustrating because our wait was so long. I understand if y'all were slammed, but we were literally the only table. There were barely any ice cubes in our sodas and we didn't get refills. We were there almost 2hrs and one of my coworkers didn't even get to eat because the wait was so long that she had to leave her card with someone to pay for her food. It was insane! I believe that the waitress was newer, but to only have one staff there and no one else helping!? We weren't even checked in on half the time. We probably could have left during the 1st hour of waiting for our food and no one would have even known until the food was brought out to us. In the fried chicken salad that my co worker ordered, there was barely anything in it; then two days later on Monday someone else from our office ordered that same salad and it was LOADED it different veggies. So confusing. The food was basic bar food also, nothing fancy even to wait that long for. Bad experience. This was the 2nd time this has happened to us when we have gone there..... So clearly it just wasn't that one waitress that caused the problem. read more

The Stringtown Bar & Grill seemed to me to have mixed identities on what kind of place they wanted to be. The smokey atmosphere and dark dining room really put an odd feeling in the air, as the apparent "regulars" of the place all stared blankly at me as we walked in. I wasn't sure if there were even any employees in the place until one appeared from the back of the room. It's safe to say this place wasn't "happening" in the conventional sense. But upon asking for non-smoking (this is in Kentucky) we were sat not in the abnormally large dining room, but in a smaller room off to the side, secluded from what seemed like everything the restaurant had to offer. A huge bar took up most of the space, despite nobody being behind it, and the smell of smoke still found its way in. The only true redeeming quality of this place was the food. The service was alright, sure, but the food in particular was great. The portions were hearty, the prices pretty low and the taste was excellent. Not gourmet good, but you know, greasy breakfast kinda good. And apart from their breakfast, their whole menu was pretty full of some staple classics. I'm curious when the place gets full, as they had multiple bars and a huge capacity for seating, but only a few patrons. I can't speak as to when they get busy. So I would imagine this is a great place to feed a whole family -if your family doesn't mind smoking- because of the price and relative quality. It seemed pretty low-key and relaxed, with decent service and a solid menu. Not great, not bad. read more

Stopped in on a recent Sunday morning for breakfast. Overall, not great, but not the worst I have eaten. Eggs were eggs, hard to mess them up. Homefries were cold and you could tell they were pushed off to one side of the grill to keep warm. It did not work, they were cold. Sausage was generic. No spice or unique taste, just bland. Biscuits were ok. Would I go back? Yes, if I was hungry and did not feel like cooking. Is it going to be my new go to breakfast spot? No, to many other options that are better. read more

The waitress seemed like she was on drugs. She never stopped by to fill our drinks or ask us how we were doing. The food took forever to arrive and when it did it was mediocre at best. Overpriced for what we got for sure. The waitress ended up crying in front of everyone because she was overwhelmed with a large party she was serving. It was seriously like a circus in there. We eventually had to ask the bartender to cash us out, and he had to track down the waitress just to see what we ordered. She never did stop by back after taking our order. This is a great spot to stop and get a good ol' cheap breakfast. It's not hip and it's not trendy and I'm not complaining. The food isn't spectacular but it's good and you get plenty of it. The waitress was friendly and prompt and our food came out quicker than expected and looked amazing as she sat it on our table. It tasted just as good. The only complaint I have is that the non-smoking area is sort of drab-looking compared to the rest of the place. It'd be nice if the whole place was non-smoking during breakfast hours. read more

Food was very good...fries exceptional. We had the hangover burger which is approximately 1/3 of a cow. Service was good. I like the look of the place on the inside very much. I could easily give them 4.5 stars except for one annoying thing: We, as well as dozens more, went there to watch a Bengals game...but their TVs suck! They have these little 42 inch TVs on the wall that are far from high def. Since big screen high def TVs are extremely affordable now, why on earth would they have these little crappy TVs?? I just don't get it. Spend a few bucks guys and get some decent TVs for the Bengal and UK games!! I will definitely go back though. I may bring binoculars to see the TV screens though. read more

Excellent food This place is mostly a bar. Only domestics on tap. Friendly service and people. This place feels like a local watering hole. He is the catch the owner is a chef. I took my wife and son here on 01/07/2017 for dinner with a coupon I had purchased on sweet deals. My son and I ordered the flat iron steak which comes with 2 sides. It took awhile to come out to our table, but I understand that this is not Applebee's where they already have everything pre-cooked in some factory. This is cooked up on site and it takes a while. steaks where perfect! Very tender, medium rare like we ordered. The green beans were very delicious, the fries are so good, best I've had in a long time. The wife had liver and onions, she said that it was very delicious, lol,I wouldn't know because I don't do beef liver. we also ordered wings, BBQ and Buffalo style, the wings were great, and the ranch dressing was very good. And the presentation was beautiful! I will be returning here in the near future. We paid $62.57 for this meal, and it was way better food than we would have got at Ihop, Denny's, Applebee's and a lot of other chain restaurants where we would have dropped $80.00 or more on their factory made food. read more

Recently visited this place for breakfast, and have gone on a Friday night before. Great breakfast, but breakfast is breakfast. Night atmosphere was tons of fun. Regulars were nice and owners seemed to appreciate all there, even newbies. Cold cold beer. Will return! read more
