My boyfriend and I were looking for bbq before the Saturday night concert at Magic Springs. We both have great memories of Stubby's so decided to eat there. It was quite disappointing. The rib feast for 2 consisted of 3 ribs, the slaw and beans were average. A large blob of butter on top of 4 slices of bread were not appetizing at all. This is my is my first time coming here always smelt good but when I ordered inside I asked for a brisket lunch plate I asked if the potato salad was sweet or dill and he said sweet I'm eating it now and it's dill which I hate dill so that was a waist of money but then when I asked it he could add alittle of the juice on top he just walks away and then when I go to pay I literally watch as the cashier isn't paying attention to what order she has in her hand and gives my 22 dollar plate someone else first impression are everything to me and seeing that all go down in one order is really disappointing. read more

Good ribs! Worth a return visit. First, if you're not a fan of sweet barbecue sauce, you probably won't like it. It's not too sweet, but that's definitely the flavor they lean on as that's the sauce they had. The ribs themselves were very tender with a great texture. The beans were great! They had just the right balance. The deviled eggs... no. They're $.55 each for a half egg, but there was no flavor. Like, at all. It was weird. It was just this weird... stuff sitting my mouth. That was the one disappointment on my tray. It's cafeteria style. You walk in and order up front, they give you your order to put into your tray, then you slide down to the register to get your drink and pay for the food. Then you grab an open table. My order of ribs, 1/2 pint of beans, and two (half) deviled eggs with a Coke cost me $17.56. I'd say it cost a little more than what I got out of it, but I left full fairly satisfied. For what it is, the place is nice. It's small, but it works well and seems pretty open if there's not much of a crowd. It's set up for people to come in, eat, then be on their way. The service is amazing. I love this place for the food, but also the service. They always do a great job, but this week, I made a mistake and thought I had placed a catering order but it never submitted. I called them that morning and they got it together for me. I've been reading about this place for years. McLards is closed during the holidays, so we tried Stubby's. I'm sure glad we did! We got the platter and it had lots of brisket, sliced pork, Petit Jean ham, and three ribs. All were excellent. I highly recommend the Pot O Beans as well. Pit cooked beans with ham on top. Delicious. Their sauce is excellent as well. A great BBQ joint that smells right the moment you walk in. Highly recommended if you like real, hickory cooked BBQ. read more

Very disappointing. PD ordered a pork sandwich with Cole slaw. Not enough Cole slaw, pork was dry and tasteless. Deviled eggs were probably good when they were fresh. She says baked beans were good, I say they were cold. Had chopped beef, also found it lacking in taste. Almost as if the meat had not really been barbequed at all, just heated up. Stopped in Hot Springs on our summer road trip. Looking for a quick bite we could all enjoy. Stopped off here. The guys at the counter were efficient and attentive. We ordered the ultimate platter. Plenty of food to share. Has a taste of each of the meats and 2 sides. The meats were excellent nicely seasoned soft fall off the bone. It tastes great with or without the sauce. All I can say is WOW, and NOT in a good way. Meat was dry, and had no flavor. Sauce was blah, and tasted burnt. I've lived in both Memphis, TN, and Texas for more than 20 years. I've been here three times now. They're baked potatoes are amazing filling and super barbequey (I don't care if that's not a word) and so so amazing. Both the pork and beef is super tender and rich and absolutely perfect. The pork ribs are very filling as well it's a very big portion for one person. My coworker had the beans and she said they were very good. We both have a very great meal for lunch and we're absolutely too full to function. Will definitely continue to come back. read more

I had a very bad experience today. I ordered a jumbo pulled pork Bbq sandwich and a loaded potato with brisket. What we got was wrong. The jumbo sandwich turned out to be a small sandwich and my loaded potato only had brisket pieces that was hard and burnt without the beans and coleslaw. My mother got dinner from here. The meat she got was fatty and not edible. She went back to see if she could get better meat or a refund. The man who i guess cut the meat had a problem and was very rude. Told her "what do you want me to do about it"? He also threw away the food in a huff in front of her. Tried it twice and each time I was disappointed. First time I had the half chicken. I started off with no sauce because I generally like the smoked taste of chicken but could not tell that the chicken had ever been around a piece of wood. Completely bland so I added barbecue sauce for some flavor. My second visit I had pork ribs and brisket. The pork ribs were very dry and again had to add barbecue sauce for any flavor. When chilies makes better ribs you're probably doing it wrong. The brisket while tender was dry as well. If this restaurant was located in Texas I don't think it would be open much longer. I only came here because McClards barbecue was closed for vacation. I usually love barbecue stuffed potatoes. This one unfortunately fell short to my expectations. The beef was extremely dry. My husband got a regular chopped beef sandwich and said the same thing about his. The barbecue sauce was honestly too sweet. It needed more smoky to balance it out.
