Changing my previous bad review to a good one. Yes, I had frustrating scheduling issues around getting a badly cracked windshield fixed, but both Subaru Of Sherman Oaks and Subaru did right by me. My car is just out of waranty, but the service tech asked Subaru to cover the cost of both the cracked windshield and the rental car while it was being fixed under the extended warranty. Subaru agreed. Then there was another problem: the Eyesight camera wouldn't calibrate after the windshield was installed. A new one would need to be installed. A new camera is $5000. That wasn't covered under the extended warranty, but the service rep asked Subaru to cover it as a "good faith" repair. Again, Subaru agreed. Can't ask for much better service by either the dealership or the corporation. They did right by me. read more

This is a completely honest review from somebody who hates dealing with car salesmen and dealerships... I was on the hunt for a new Forester and was ready to trade in my 21' crosstrek. I had been dealing with a few Subaru dealerships in the area and was becoming increasingly frustrated at the experience. That is, until I came across Sherman Oaks Subaru. I had submitted an online inquiry for a new forester and got an email and phone call within about 10 minutes. The email contained an awesome offer for the car I wanted which included a generous amount off the MSRP. I got the call from Tamaz and set up an appointment. I was surprised at how prompt and professional he was over the phone, yet still skeptical that this would be a smooth and easy experience. That is, until the next day when I met with Tamaz. I arrived and he showed me the Forester limited as well as the wilderness, as I requested to see this one too before I made my choice. I decided to go with the wilderness. I cannot explain how smoothly this went. He came back with all the numbers and it was just what I was looking to pay, in terms of monthly payments. There were no added fees, expenses, etc. No games, no scams; just straightforward and easy to understand. "How could this be?" I thought to myself. By far the worst experience ever! I have a busy schedule, so I made an appointment. I arrived on time, only to be taken in 30 minutes later. Then I was promised the service would be completed within a 2 hour time frame. I patiently waited for over two hours in their lobby. The entire time, there was no update or communication from the advisor. I finally went to check on my vehicle -- it had never even been taken in for service! It was still parked in the exact same spot I left it. I am on my third owned Subaru and have been a returning customer for over 10 years. No -- this is not okay. There is no excuse for the lack of communication and the failure to follow through on a simple oil change and tire rotation. Are you kidding me? This is completely unacceptable. Please review your advisors and staff. Do not overpromise what you cannot deliver. Subaru is better than this -- that's the reason I've kept coming back all these years. I have been a loyal customer of Subaru of Sherman Oaks. I own a 2017 Legacy. I have spent $11,227 on repairs at the dealership. Subaru of Sherman Oaks replaced my windshield on September 11, 2024, after it cracked after being hit by a rock. On February 3, 2025, I discovered a crack on the windshield that appeared overnight without being hit by anything. The dealership refused to cover it on warranty. I was told to file a claim with Subaru of America. They also would not cover the windshield under warranty. There was a class action lawsuit against Subaru for windshields that cracked without being hit by anything. However, my year was not included in the class action lawsuit. The dealership obviously does not care about their customers. read more

Recently had an experience here that I'm thankful for. Check engine light came on. A close friend owns a shop and did the diagnostic for me. Let me know that I need it at thermal valve replacement. But he also suggested that I called Subaru to see if it was covered on my extended warranty. I usually went to Subaru of Glendale when I needed something specifically done through the dealership. I called them and they refused to tell me whether it was covered or not on extended warranty without doing the diagnostic. Even though I explained to them I was just calling and asking in general if it would be covered if they diagnostic showed that's what was wrong. Still refusal to tell me if it was covered So I called this location and spoke With Erica. She not only confirmed for me that it was covered under warranty, but she got me in the same day. In addition, I was having surgery and was not going to be able to drive for an extended period of time. She was able to have the car delivered for me when it was complete. We had a little hiccup and communication but overall it was a very good experience. they also provided additional suggestions on service needed, without the pressure of using them and completing all of the services. Typical dealer tactics of deceiving customers to make a sale. They tell you what you want to hear to make the deal happen. Gary Dannenbaum explicitly told me I could pay with a personal check and they would only do a soft credit pull from one bureau. I confirmed this with the finance person, Michael. Well, they did a hard credit pull from two bureaus. I contacted him and he failed to take responsibility, denied wrongdoing, and flatly ignored part of my feedback about running credit from two bureaus versus the promised one. Read it for yourself. This person is a liar and a bad one at that. A second inquiry to a lender is not a thing and he does a nice bit of moral limbo to say "we call that a soft pull". Nice one Gary. God bless. I've been going through a few different Subaru dealerships looking for the car I wanted and haven't had the best experiences. I saw that Subaru Sherman Oaks had the car I wanted in the color and trim level I wanted in stock and I booked a test drive through the website. I heard back from Frank Zelaya-Ruiz with whom I set up an appointment to drive the car the next day. Met him right on time, he set us up with the car and took us on a trip around the area. He also threw out immediately that there was a deal on the car as it's a 2024 and they wanted to make room for the incoming 2025s. Finding exactly the car I wanted, in stock, for a discount was enough to sell me on it, so we went forward from there. He was zero pressure, super easy to work with, and I drove my new WRX home shortly thereafter. By far the best experience I've had at an LA area Subaru dealership. If only it wasn't nearly 100 degrees today, but it's worth it to brave the heat. Super happy with my experience and super happy with my car. read more

I had a conversation with Camille about a promotion for buy three tires get the fourth for one dollar. She quoted me an amount for a specific tire brand that we agreed upon and I made a reservation. So far so good. I show up and Camille greets me and checks out the car and brings me inside to get me checked in. Camille than tells me " oh looks like the tire you wanted was in stock but now they aren't" Camille than tells me " we have this other brand and I can give you the same price" Ahh the old bait and switch. Of course it's a tire brand that is worse than the one we agreed on. Now let's just say this isn't just a bait and switch and they really did run out of the tire. That's fine then at least call me and give me a heads up so we can figure something else out before I drive all the way over to you. Either way it's horrible customer service. Honestly though it did feel like they were trying to scam me. The way she spoke and her mannerisms were that if someone who tried and failed and it was on to the next customer they can dupe. There was a soft sorry and then that was it. This shit is so upsetting. Waste gas and time just to get possibly scammed and receive horrible customer service. I have been searching for a used Subaru for quite a while and decided to pop into my local dealership, which is Subaru of Sherman Oaks. I parked my motorcycle in a space occupied by another motorcycle and made my way to the show room when I was "greeted" by a salesman who said "hey is that your Ford? You can't park there! " I explained it was not my Ford, my BMW motorcycle is sharing a parking space with the other motorcycle. I asked if I could see the showroom and he said "sure go ahead" . He asked me what I was looking for and I explained I wanted to purchase a used Subaru and I hoped that he could help me locate what I wanted. He said to me "why by used when you can buy one of these new ones"? I explained that I wanted a six speed transmission and they were no longer available however, the 2023 Crosstrek was the last model year were available and that's what I was after. He said to me "well you're never gonna find one of those" . I told him that I would locate one and purchase it, and he laughed at me like a frat boy and said "well good luck with that buddy". I realize this is salesman is motivated to sell new vehicles on his lot, but why alienates a potential Subaru buyer who is willing to spend money on a used Subaru. I am obviously going to be needing some Subaru service but now I realize that I want absolutely nothing to do with this dealership. It was so unnecessary to be so rude. At Subaru, they told us that the catalytic converter would be covered and they fixed it. Service was moderately acceptable. Even tho they failed to replace my cabin filter and just gave me a note saying it needed to be replaced (next time). I have free service on my 2024 vehicle and it should have been serviced at the time of the oil change. (Also, side note, they do not provide a video of the services they complete, like other Subaru dealer service departments do). The worst part was the stupid reminder sticker that they attach to the inside of your windshield. That thing does not come off easily at all! It made the biggest mess in my car when I tried to remove it. It literally took me a half hour. And then I had to take my car to the car wash because I had sticker residue bits all over my dashboard and steering wheel! Thanks service department I ended up taking my car back to another Subaru dealer who replaced the filter no questions asked. But I had to incur the cost of gas to take it a further distance from me,m... in addition to the car wash and labor to remove that stupid sticker. read more

I purchased a brand new 2024 Subaru BRZ. I went into the purchase with all of my ducks in a row and on full guard after other dealership experiences. With minimal back and forth we were able to agree on Out-the-Door numbers. Purchase price lined up and the trade-in price lined up. Obviously, coming to agreements in a car deal can take a bit work. But I had the sense throughout the negotiations and planning that this Subaru dealership was different. The salesman, Gev, came across as helpful and polite. Even when I gave him a rougher time during trade-in negotiations. I came away respecting the man, he was great at his job and solid while came to an agreement. I think moving forward I'll be part f the Subaru Sherman Oaks family. The customer service and care at their dealership really left an impression on me. Worst car shop I have been too. I paid to have my car serviced, including getting all my breaks replaced. The day I get my car back my wife and I are driving when all of a sudden we hear grinding noises with a Smokey scent. I immediately pull over and realize it's my brakes. We called a tow truck. When we pulled the car into the tow truck, my brakes gave out. That could have been me and my pregnant on the road/freeway if I didn't pull over. The pin in the break caliper was placed incorrectly. This caused damage to my break, and the inside of the entire tire. I had to tow my truck to the shop. It took over two weeks for them to work on my car. And it's only been about a month or so, and I am already hearing grinding in my brake. This place sucks, avoid it, I'm just taking my car elsewhere from now on. read more
