Spicy Braised Beef and Tendon Noodle Soup (Extra Spicy) - Still the best in South Bay!!
    Chow-time W.

This is one of the OG beef noodle place in the South Bay, I've been going since the 90s. It changed hands a few times since then. It can be a hit or a miss in the recent years. Last I went, about a year or so ago, the price went up but portion gone way down, so I haven't been in a while. Went yesterday for an early dinner, the portion is still relatively smaller than way back in the days. But decent for $12, you can't beat that price in the neighborhood, I wish they offer a larger size at a higher price. And based on what I had last night, I dare to say they are still the best beef noodle place in the South Bay!! Always go with extra spicy!! Still loving it!!

Just as a heads up, you eat here for cheap, good Asian food. This is not the place for a nice, renovated, nor as clean of a place to hang out nor for stellar customer service. What you expect is cheap, great Asian food that's in the Torrance area. Also the chef barely speaks English so it'd be helpful if someone knows how to speak mandarin or barely get by. Amazing food, I love beef noodle soup & I got that tonight! I also ordered the green onion pancake & that was super yummy too. I will definitely come back, and brush up on some light Mandarin to order.

Inside of the restaurant. Tables have been updated with a sticker to look newer.

Same great quality food! Out of side dishes at 7PM tho, sadly. They close at 8PM now. Came to pick up a to go order. Their best item is the beef tendon noodle soup!!

Zero stars, don't go! BUGS in food! (apologize in advance for the gross pictures and graphical description) We used to like this place a lot, it's the hole in the wall with the best noodles around. Food has always been tasty and service has always been lousy and getting even worse. In our last few visits, we have been very uncomfortable with the sticky table, it's just not very pleasant. Last night, we ate there and bought some rice noodles to go, since everything is light colored, black spots are much more noticeable, especially with the lighting at home, it turned out there were MANY bugs on the vegetables! Very very gross. We are not sure how much extra proteins we had from last night's dinner! We are never going back again!

Chives and pork dumpling with the vinegar, it makes a big difference

This place should rename themselves Bland AF Restaurant! ... What happened to this place??! Sadness, this use to be my favorite beef noodle place spot for over 2 decades! Now everything we ordered taste so bland. I felt like drinking hot greasy spicy hot water as their used to be so flavorful soup. After a few owner changed, very disappointed and sorry to say won't be back. I've never eaten anywhere where I feel like money was completely down the drain. Well today I Just spent $50 down the drain. I rather eat McDonald's or Jack in the Crack. Everything is dirty AF too. Nothing is ever wiped down. The doors, the trays, the counter is so gross and filthy grime everywhere.

Why would a worker put their stinky sneakers where food container lids are? Disgusting!

Over salted on from beef noodle soup to all the side dishes. Horrible. What and why? The only guess it's preservatives to keep food from spoiling.

Authentic Chinese food. Always hits the spot! Service is fast and friendly. Ambience is pleasant and relaxing.

Thick part of the chicken that was uncooked please tell him to make sure the food is well cooked.

I wanted so much to like this place. The pictures looked good and the prices looked good too. There were some bad reviews. I was very impressed when I opened the Styrofoam container. The food looked like a nice presentation. When I called in my order they were able to, take the order, barely, but that's not a problem. The chicken looks crispy on the picture and is certainly not crispy on the plate. In addition the meat is not free of grizzle or tendon and is not cut so that it cooks evenly some parts with some parts were super thick. Unfortunately, the thick part was very uncooked. Hopefully I don't have any issues. The taste was fine. Spices were fine side condiments were good. The rice was good. A couple running. The place seemed very nice and friendly. I will give it one more. Try if you speak Chinese, please tell these people That they can be very successful if they cook the food completely and make the fried foods crispy. The skin on the chicken was very rubbery because it just was not cooked enough. I will give it one more. Try someone someone please speak to them if I could, I would because I love to see people succeed.

I heard a lot of good things about it Tendon Tempura Carlos Jr. so I decided to try the food court express version. They had 2 bento box options here and I got the Bento Box A ($19.99). It came with teriyaki salmon, burdock salad, fresh salad, shrimp tempura, pumpkin, shishito, and mushroom tempura. The side was a choice of rice or soba or upgrade to California roll for $1 or Salmon roll for $2. I went with the California roll. Here are my thoughts: Tempura: for all the hype around this, I thought it was ok. 3.5/5 stars Salmon teriyaki: it was a typical salmon teriyaki. It got cold quickly, but I think that is my fault since I kept taking pictures of the food. 3.4/5 stars Meatballs: first time trying Japanese meatballs and I thought it had a nice balance of sweet and savory. 4/5 stars Fresh salad: it was fresh. 4/5 stars California roll: it was ok and nothing to write home about. 3/5 stars Miso soul: it's definitely miso alright! 3/5 stars Service was minimal since it's food court food. The food was a pretty average experience, but the prices are restaurant prices. I guess it is worth a try if you really love tempura.

The typical Korean banchan (side dishes) that came with the meal made everything even better. It's located inside the supermarket, so the dining area can get very crowded and busy, but the food came out fairly quickly, so the wait wasn't bad at all. You order your food, find yourself a table, and they call your number when your order is ready. Nothing fancy in terms of atmosphere but a busy H Mart food-court setting for that is tasty, comforting, and worth the wait. Probably because it's Korean, in a Korean supermarket, where the competitors that folded shop were not always. Other stands also had a freshness issue - not much turnover as most visitors want Korean. Each time I shop at HMart, I see big soup bowls from Hansol. And I think, as a giant soup lover, I need to get me some. It always looks so good. Unfortunately, it does not taste as good as it looks. For example, the 2 rib special looks fantastic but the meat is tough to eat. The noodles are flat, need some flare. The rice bowls lack flavor. I see all these glowing reviews and know I'm swimming against the tide. Probably sacrilege for me to say that the Hmart prepared food tastes better than this restaurant... but I find this to be the case. The prices - not great. You pay for the convenience of being in a market. Counterintuitive as the ambience is what what you'd expect to pay for.
