Appetizer for "Don't Don't Think, Just Eat" - Edamame
    Josh R.

Delicious sushi and fun experience. Went with the "Don't think, Just Eat" omakase (their largest portion 1 small edamame, 1 order sashimi, 14 nigiri pieces, and two hand rolls) and every bite was fresh and flavorful. They bring out each piece as it's ready so on small plates rather than all at once on large trays. Great ambiance inside that boosts the entire experience. One downside is sometimes the server just places the dish down without letting you know what type of fish it is. They also don't have any desert options so if you want a sweet treat afterwards you'll have to go elsewhere. When the experience was over I joked about going next door for a burger because I was still hungry (I was totally serious). If I go back, I'll definitely have to order some à la carte rolls on top of the Omakase.

Studio City, CA Family dinner for an early Mother's Day treat - and what a great experience. I arrived ahead of everyone to secure a table, and even on a weekday the wait is 30 minutes - I guess no matter what day and time you come, there is always a wait. Since it was my first time here, my daughter took the lead and ordered the Trust Me for me. And trust me, it lives up to the name. The fish was fresh, flavors were very good, and I was so full I even handed off my last roll to my daughter. The only downside - inside is loud, you can't have a nice conversation, and I just wish the tables were spaced out more for comfort. So selfish of me to wish huh. It was a good dinner experience. Pricey but recommended. I will be back for sure. Free 90 minutes parking. Public facilities are outside the restaurant.

First time coming to the studio city location as we typically go to the one in Pasadena. Came for lunch at 11:30am when they opened and were seated immediately. Same clean and modern interior and their staff were very friendly as well. We each ordered the lunch Trust Me set, which came with their edamame, tuna ponzu sashimi, 6 nigiris, toro handroll, and finished with a blue crab handroll. We were happy and satisfied as everything we got tasted fresh with the same great quality as their other locations. The staff came by often to refill our waters and take our finished plates away. We asked for extra ginger and wasabi, which they brought for us quickly. There is free 90 min parking in the lot, which is super convenient. We would come back to this location again!

Another incredible and elevated dining experience here at Sugar Fish!! We had the pleasure of being served by the amazing EJ. He was so kind & pleasant with us for the entirety of the lunch. Everything came out in a timely manner and special shoutout to the awesome general manager for coming to check in with us & having us sample a few variations of our favorite plate (the Seabream, a must try) I can't wait to come back. No other sushi compares!

Always great service! No different this time either. Had a great time celebrating my son's birthday. Everyone had a Trust Me and I had a Trust Me Lite. Food still good. Love going here but wish they had more individual tables farther apart. I like to have a lot of room. I know, kinda selfish. Will I come here again? You bet!! Free parking for 90 minutes.

My camera brightened it up a bit but it's much darker.

First timers at SUGARFISH. I have heard many great things about the food at SUGARFISH in general, not just this location, but I have to honestly say I feel like this place is overhyped. The food is good quality and the fish is fresh, but the taste and the flavors overall aren't anything that really stood out and didn't seem to make sense price point wise. I feel that without the (very) dim, intimate lighting and feel, the food was not that memorable, especially not what you pay for. Customer service was okay. We felt like we were just people occupying a seat when we had to wait so long for it, and felt like now they were just waiting for us to leave. Seating: many small tables, but you're cramped and tightly seated near others Parking: free for 90min in the lot Price: $$$

Trust me - it was awesome

I forgot to take photos of the food, THAT'S how good it was! My friend and I both ordered the "trust me" and now I can safely say I am healed from all trust issues. The servers are all so friendly and sweet I kinda wanna hang out with them. The restaurant is in that cool nook of sportsman's lodge and there's an awesome vegan ice cream place next door. We had the best day. Yay!

God, the lighting in here is beautiful. It has that soft, intimate orange glow that makes this cozy space even cozier. Came here with a friend and I like how the meal is served one course at a time. It gives you time to savor your meal. The high quality of the fish is something you can actually taste. While pricey, this is a lovely special treat. The bathroom features two kinds of soap, one for before you eat your fish (unscented) and one for after (scented). That along with the bathrooms being all genders makes for a thoughtful lavatory experience. Trans and NB friends, you're welcome here. They have birthday rewards club but you have to sign up in person. This is a great date night spot.

I came here last night on a whim to hit the night out in town since I had a friend and her teenage son visiting from out of town. Since this Sugarfish is located in the heart of the Sportsman's Lodge Plaza filled with other fun eats, shops, Erewon, and even an Equinox gym on the property I knew it would be the tickled fancy affair that with give the fun, bustling vibe that would excite my friend from our I'd town. I put our names down but not to a surprise they said it'd be a 45 minute wait. So in the meanwhile we checked out the Erewon market that has all the organic flair you hope to see. Then walking around to see the shops around. Then we sat at one of the outdoor patio tables to kill time. I was surprised that the wait was shorter than they stated for a party of 5. When we got seated we instantly all knew what we wanted, which was their notoriously famous omakases. This means the chef chooses what to make for you. The decision was simple. I chose the Trust Me dinner. My sister went up a notch and got the Nozawa dinner. My friend went up another double notch and got the Don't Trust Me dinner. It's amazing how every sushi piece just melts in your mouth. My favorite were the salmon sushi and the baked crab handroll. Everyone left super satiated and wanting to go back already. The dark dim ambience was cool too. Can't wait to go back.

Wow !!!!! Soooo loud in here. It's a very small space so it seems like everyone is squished together and is yelling and talking so loud. Really unpleasant. But we made through our lunch without losing our minds lol It was my first time here and luckily our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He explained their menu and made it easy for me to choose. We both chose the Trust Me option and were still hungry after eating it all. So I ended up ordering extra hand rolls. If you love rolls this is not the place for you. They only have sashimi , sushi, very simple hand roll and cut roll. Fish and rice. Now I know this is Nozawa-style sushi and it's not what I like. I really enjoy specialty rolls at sushi spots. Don't get me wrong I love sashimi and sushi too and always order a variety. Now the food part, the sushi was very fresh and good quality. The sashimi in ponzu and chives was excellent. The hand rolls were ok. More rice than fish for sure. The crab was our least favorite. Customer service was good, the ambiance not so good. Too loud for us and unpleasant.

I decided to finally try Sugarfish in Studio City after hearing all the rave reviews, but I was pretty disappointed. First, the good: the fish quality was amazing--super fresh with no fishiness--and I really liked how the box was packaged, with a guide explaining how to eat it. The ponzu and wasabi were solid, spicy with a great umami kick. My favorites were the salmon pieces and the yellowtail. That said, the rice was hit or miss--it kept falling apart when I picked it up, which messed with the whole bite. I wasn't a fan of the sashimi bits either; they felt like minced leftovers that didn't belong anywhere else. And the pricing? $9 for minced pieces of sashimi is crazy. Overall, I spent about $50 on a box that just didn't feel worth it. Parking was a pain--super crowded with tons of people around--and while the staff were friendly, it's not enough to bring me back unless I'm absolutely craving expensive sushi. Even then, I feel there are better options, especially given how underwhelmed I was here and at KazuNori, the hand roll spot from the same restaurant group.

The food is great very affordable service is fast and efficient and the ambience can be a little bit noisy but music is not too loud and very chill I will def come back

We went over to my cousins for lunch and he ordered the to go boxes of sushi. Oh my gosh, I loved it. It was so good. There were about 16 pieces of sushi plus sashimi edamame and then the sauces and ginger in our box plates. it was just right and he had ordered for seven of us. And we ate on the rooftop of his apartment so it was great!!

Do u offer gluten free sauces to go?

No...the menu is the menu and that is a huge reason that made Nozawa unique and create an omikase experience like Japan....

Wondering what the wait usually looks like for lunch? Would you say it's the same as the dinner wait?

Lunch is usually quicker. People on their lunch breaks don't have time to dily daly lol! It is rare that a wait is up to an hour.

If you order any of Trust Me's, are you able to swap anything out for a hand roll instead of sushi/sashimi?

If you order any of the TM's, you can only substitute the same for same. Per example: Sashimi for Sashimi, sushi for sushi, and handroll for handroll. There is no interchanging subs.

How does the quality change from eating in restaurant to ordering takeout?

The rice is not warm like it is when you get it in the restaurant. Also, all the pre sauced items have the sauce on the side now. The hand rolls are cut rolls. I much prefer eating in the restaurant and think the overall taste is better. Same…

    How's the curry udon?

    They don’t serve curry udon.

Located on Ventura Boulevard, Sushi Tomoki is a small, intimate sushi restaurant with a clean, minimalist Japanese aesthetic and a relaxed atmosphere that lets the food take center stage. (The Infatuation) Since we were dining with our 22-month-old, we requested a table instead of sitting at the sushi bar, and the staff was very accommodating. They even prepared a customized tamago sushi roll for our little one, which he absolutely enjoyed. The omakase was thoughtfully paced, with each piece served one at a time so we could fully appreciate every bite. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every piece practically melted in our mouths. The attention to detail and quality of the ingredients really stood out. The only piece that wasn't my favorite was the sushi topped with mint. It simply wasn't my personal preference, though I'm sure those who enjoy mint with savory dishes would appreciate it. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Everyone was warm, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. They made my sister's birthday even more special by singing Happy Birthday and surprising her with complimentary sherbet and four pieces of green tea mochi--a thoughtful touch that ended the evening on a high note. Overall, Sushi Tomoki delivered a memorable omakase experience with outstanding sushi, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere. We'll definitely be back.

We walked in at 6:40pm and got a nice welcome from Mediko. Without having a reservation, she sat us down immediately. Our server Meika approached us right away to take our order. We started off with a standard size of Garlic Edamame ($6.80), and then ordered few other cut rolls. Spicy Tuna Cut Roll--for 10 pieces ($14.80), Albacore Fried Onion Roll-- count of 12 for ($20.80), Zero Roll-- count of 12 for ($25.00), Rainbow Roll-- count of 12 for ($10.80). Everything was so LIGHT, FRESH and DELICIOUS!!! They also have hand rolls, and other types of cut rolls. They have street and metered parking. Before I forget, we ordered Crispy Rice Tuna that came in (2) pieces for (13.50). The minute I saw that, it made me laugh. Called our server and told her to take that back and remove it from the bill which she gladly did. I thought it was going to be an actual full course rolls. They also have dessert but we didn't order anything. Restaurant was very quaint, limited decor, very busy for Monday mid evening, and was very nice and clean. Total came out to be $95.70 including tax minus the tip. I'm sure they also have a bathroom, but we didn't end up using it. I will return, but not any time soon. They also don't have any Bento Box type of food. Very authentic place to go on a date, friends, family or even dine solo. They also have a Sushi Bar. Alcohol wise, only have beer, wine and sake along with 2 fridges full of cold drinks.. Thank you all very much!!

I'll start with the few negatives because, honestly, there weren't many. With how popular this place has become and the number of regulars that come in every day, parking can be a little difficult. Thankfully, they have someone outside helping direct cars and navigate the parking situation, which definitely makes things easier. The interior is also a little outdated and could use some updating, but once the food comes out, you quickly forget about it. Now for the good stuff. From the moment we walked in, the entire staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive. Great service always makes a difference, and the staff here really added to the overall experience. We ordered the Spicy Tuna Rice Cake, Crispy Shrimp Roll, Mula Roll, and KB4 Roll, and every single one was a hit. Spicy Tuna Rice Cake -- Easily one of the highlights of the meal and an absolute MUST TRY. You get four pieces of crispy rice that have the perfect crunch on the outside while still being light and fluffy inside. They're topped with avocado and some of the best spicy tuna I've ever had. The tuna was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and creamy. I could've ordered another plate of these by themselves. Crispy Shrimp Roll -- Another must-try. This roll has so much flavor and the perfect amount of crunch without being overwhelming. At only $10, it's honestly hard to pass up. I can definitely see myself ordering this every time I come back. Mula Roll -- This one is definitely on the pricier side at $28, but it's worth it. It's loaded with premium, incredibly fresh fish, including unagi and tuna, along with avocado and savory sauces. The fish was buttery and fresh, with a subtle kick of heat that brought everything together. Definitely a roll for anyone who likes richer, more flavorful sushi. KB4 Roll -- A great combination of spicy tuna, yellowtail, albacore, and salmon. What I really liked was that the fish was served chunky rather than finely minced, so you could actually appreciate the different textures and flavors. The fish was incredibly fresh and practically melted in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. Overall, Chiba is a hidden gem in the Valley and easily one of the better sushi spots I've tried. Between the quality of the fish, the flavors, the portions, and the friendly service, it's a place I'll definitely be coming back to. Food: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Overall: 10/10 -- Highly recommend! Seated in a rather interesting part of North Hollywood, the summer heat did not deter us from eating here, as the smell immediately brought my worries elsewhere. A vast majority of the food here was fantastic, and the only reason I was going to opt for 4 stars was the takoyaki had quite a tiny portion in the actual dough ball- despite the actual breading so soft and fluffy, it was like the most delightfully extravagant packaging for something that was a bit of a let down. Though, much to the credit of our waiter she understood and offered to swap it out for another appetizer, which probably deserves the vast majority of the praise here. The vegetarian dumplings we ordered were legitmately some of the best dumplings I've had period. From the vegan mayo to the best gentle heat I've ever had the experience I've eating. There was no option on the website to cancel, but since I was already at the resturant I decided to cancel in person. When I tried cancelling this is what happened, a server cancelled my order in the kitchen, despite me being unable to cancel the payment part, was made to wait an additional 20 minutes (The total wait time was an hour) while never once being able to directly speak with a mananger, also while I waited the server sheepishly avoided eye contact with me, was then given the managers phone # to resolve the issue later in the evening only to never be contacted, got a notification two hours later that my order was picked up (impossible), had to go in the next morning, finally talked to the manager, was forced to wait an additional 20min while being ignored only to find out that this whole time I had to contact doordash or corporate. Time I could have gotten back if the people were up front about being unable to resolve the issue in store. All the while I was dealing with issues of pain and so was not prepared for a task as simple as a refund to be a two day journey. Now my main issue is not so much with the workers at the branch, I think corporate is largely to blame for this situation. My only critiques of the service are as follows: If you didn't have an answer, just say you don't know or you can't do that. Don't cancel an order in the kitchen until the customer cancels the order in the app. If your making a customer wait, just occasionally acknowledge them so they don't feel forgotten or like they are being avoided. I'm not new, I use to work in customer service and I've been made to wait before, but generally someone just occasionally gives you a fake smile and says "we're still working on it" and don't sheepishly try to avoid eye contact. For corporate my issues are as follows. On the website you should give an option to cancel the order, and if not at least make it clear to the customer that they have to contact DoorDash. The phone number you posted in the 'Help Me' section, it's a dead number. Doesn't seem unreasonable to give you restaurant branches the ability to cancel or edit orders at store locations. If corporate can't do that, you should let your employees know that issues like that needs to be handled either through corporate or doordash to save time. The stores are clearly understaffed and so employee's are unable to problem solve when issues come up because they are busy. If properly staffed, this problem could have been handled relatively quickly. In the past when I was so inconvenienced by the service, restaurants usually either waived the fee, offered free items or a gift card, because they actually cared. To be offered nothing, not even a proper apology def. Makes me feel like SilverLake Ramen doesn't really give a crap about anything but making money.
