This is definitely an upgrade to Benihana which unfortunately in the last decade or so isn't that big of a flex. The food was decent. The waitress was kind and very accommodating. Our tapanyaki chef was basic. They do certainly have brilliant chefs there that are excellent performers but don't assume you will get one of those. The energy of the table is also important for a more festive experience. Our chef and table both were lacking in this way. That being said, I did see people palm tipping a person at the front so as strict as they attempt to be with their timing of tables and turning them around due to the nature of the business, they are not immune to gratuity. So if you are planning your event there, lead with that - offer tips to get you the best table, the best cook etc. I would go again if invited but my expectations are now set at a lower bar. This place is amazing and a must try when going up to Table Mountain Casino. I have been able to visit this place 2 times once for a date night and an other for an event. The staff is wonderful and extremely attentive everyone of them from the bartenders to the cooks all have smiles on their faces and check on you to make sure all is to your liking. The bar they have here though small is a great experience. They have a bar located in the back of the restaurant the area is a nice little gathering spot but the real treat here is the outside balcony. The view is spectacular and it is so nice to have that view to look at well you enjoy your drink. Now for the food. They have some very good offerings I had the teppanyaki with the steak. The show as they cook is so much fun and they interact with you here and there. The food is delicious and cooked to your liking. The sauces are so savory and the flavors mesh perfectly with the proteins. I do want to go back and try out the sushi bar but just the teppanyaki alone I can say I highly recommend this place for a nice dinner night with family or a loved one. read more

This was our third time coming here, and honestly every visit has been great. I booked our reservation online about a week ahead with no issues. We even showed up earlier than our reservation time, and they still found a way to fit us in. We grabbed drinks at the bar while we waited, and the bartender was super friendly. Our cook was amazingly funny, entertaining, and the food came out delicious. Our waitress was also really attentive. It was more convenient anyways to just eat in at the room.. we ordered their Philly-- added avocado and requested it deep fried-- it was the best of the two sushi orders (can't remember the other).. we also had the Katsu bento box-- the katsu surprisingly didn't have a sauce on the side, but it was nicely crisped, upgraded to the bacon fried rice which didn't taste fresh like it was sitting awhile, but it wasn't terrible either, would prolly give it another try next time.. the salad didn't come w any dressing but at least that tasted freshly cut.. the gyoza was good, but they missed our California rolls that came w the bento order, so my husband had to walk back up for that.. also the to-go didn't have any soy sauces for the sushi so had to remind them as well.. again, it was busy given the occasion, but perhaps it'll help to have someone double check these items for better service.. overall, a 6/10.. read more

I'll have to say, this was a very nice experience! We came into Sukai on a late Sunday evening, esthetic was calming and the restaurant had an amazing view!! The whole vibe and restrooms had nice and clean look!! Our party of 8 sat at the sushi bar and our sushi chef Jarret was so nice!! Capable of handling small talk all while making sushi rolls not only for us but the restaurant as well. All sushi came out in a timely manner and tasted delicious!! We had many more dishes that was consumed too quickly before I got photos but Chef Jarret remembered all of our orders as well as who ordered what. He even accommodated to our likes and dislikes! We will definitely be doing the sushi bar again with Jarret! I would definitely come again! Prices were reasonable, quality was great! Went here for their grand opening and enjoyed it so much we came back to celebrate our 9 year anniversary. Just make sure to call or book a reservation online at least a few days before you anticipated dinner. The chefs are very personable and did all the cool tricks minus the onion volcano like how other teppanyaki places do it. The first time we went they had hot and spicy sauce and the second time they didn't have any which was a bummer, but I forgive you Sukai, you made up for it with the delicious steak dinner. Everything's perfect - except the food. The ambiance here (and in the steakhouse downstairs) are by far the best that Fresno has to offer. Beautiful room, INCREDIBLE view of the lights of the valley - truly world class. The service is quite good - the service staff were as expected. The menu items are varied enough to offer something for everyone. The wine list is great, and the bar is the coolest in town. Very impressive and enjoyable. Then the chef comes out and didn't try too hard. Unlike many Teppanyaki chefs, he wasn't very fun or engaging. The food was fine, not great, and everyone at our table thought their food was overcooked. It's CERTAINLY NOT the best Teppanyaki in the valley, but it does have the best view and best room. The bottom line - Table Mountain has great ideas, well planned out, with ambitious plans. But their execution falls flat. I am certain it's because they either can't find or won't pay for experienced staff. They charge more than any other place in Fresno, so they can afford to offer $5.00 more an hour to get experienced professional staff. If they did this, it would be one of the best restaurants in CA. Instead, its a fancy and expensive presentation for a below-average meal. (BTW - it's exactly the same at the steakhouse downstairs - similar great view, and the same 2nd-rate food) read more

My husband and I made reservations here for our anniversary and were so excited to celebrate at the new casino! You have to turn a corner when inside the casino making it a little tricky to find, but once we checked in downstairs we sat and enjoyed the view before we were called up. It's on the top floor and the views, like others have said are beautiful! The service was very very slow. As it's new we were understanding that the kinks are being worked out. The management came by and apologized on their own. We were given a complimentary appetizer due to the delays which helped with any hangry feelings. The sushi we ordered was delicious I would order either the fried roll or the volcano again. We ordered shrimp with double rice and steak/chicken/shrimp with double rice. They don't have a hot and spicy sauce but they do have their own sauces which are very very good. The chef was nice, and the rice was delicious. I also enjoyed my jumbo shrimp a lot. Price point is so good for what you get, I think the basic chicken teriyaki dinner meal is only like $25! The view was fun! First and may be last time. Many other teppan yaki places in town that I personally think is better and more service efficient than Sukai. We had a reservation, showed up on time and was told to go down the hall to the end room to wait until we're called. As soon as we got to that room we received a text that our table was ready.. so we walked back to the front to meet the hostess. Why make us go down there for nothing???? The cook didn't seem to like his job, he wasn't engaging or trying to entertain. He started making the bacon and rice separately on the grill.. they didn't even touch each other! Then someone from our group didn't want the bacon so got annoyed, he scooped up the whole batch of bacon and rice to trash and asked the waiter to bring him another batch. Located on the 12th floor of Table Mountain casino, Sukai is a teppanaki/sushi restaurant and bar. It has a patio where you can view the mountains and valley. Since we did not have any reservations , we were told the bar was full of about 60 people only to find it empty. We took our chances and took the elevator to grab a drink. Service is a little slow but nice ambiance. Plenty of seating by the bar and a few tables outside the patio. Would probably come back to try the restaurant out for some teppanaki. Terrible, unorganized, and questionable food quality at best!!!!!!!! Left this restaurant for fear we would get sick and spent another couple hundred dollars just to save our night out!!!!!!! This place is a joke!!!! With great views lol Our reservation was at 7pm on a Wednesday. We arrived about 15 minutes early. It was our first time to this restaurant and we were very excited. It was our date night and we figured we certainly didn't want to be late and if we ended up being early, we could get a drink and begin our night.WRONG!!!!! we arrived with about 12 to 15 minutes to spare after we found the restaurant or so we thought. We knew it was on the top floor but were told we had to go check in with a less than welcoming security guard with our reservation so we did rather than being brought up so we could get a drink or at least be on the same floor of the restaurant we were told to sit down in a hotel lobby on the first floor and wait till they text us. Not only did they make us sit on the first floor in the hotel lobby, until 7 PM. They were even late I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and thought well maybe they're busy upstairs and maybe this has something to do with their liquor license And they cannot serve us drinks. Again WRONG!!!!!!!! When we arrived on the floor of the restaurant, there were five people standing at the hostess stand obviously having nothing to do we were seated close to the fish counter, which was nearly empty. First bad sign. Then seated at the very very small table against the window, which I appreciated for the view, but there were far better tables available since the entire restaurant with the exception of one Teppanyaki table was empty! We did not complain and did not ask to be moved and tried to just go with it. Our server approached us and asked if we were ready to order drinks to which we informed him. We did not even have a drink menu. He pulled a crumpled one out of his Pet hair, covered apron, unfolded it, told me they were printing more, attempted to flatten this stained crumpled drink menu and handed it to my wife. Not starting out on a great foot. Again, I tried to go with it, I asked the server several questions about what he would recommend or what was even good to which he repeatedly responded. I don't know. We ordered drinks which were not terrible, but we were careful to order things we knew. We ordered the calamari appetizer because it seemed the safest, but even that we were surprised at how terrible it was for the price. I make better temper batter in my own kitchen and it certainly doesn't cost me nearly $20. The best thing about the calamari was the mayonnaise based "chipotle sauce" and the lemons. Since this was date night and we really needed it, I still tried to go with it. But as I started on our appetizer, I did not have silverware or a napkin or any utensils to negotiate our meal and had to ask another server because ours was not to be found. We a sushi roll, and I say that with the upmost respect because it certainly was not, and one of their dishes. The flavor of the sushi roll and the quality of it were so below what is even reasonable at a cheap restaurant my wife stopped eating it for fear. She was going to get sick from food poisoning. my meal, the Japanese curry was a lesser quality than Salisbury steak with curry powder, added at a waffle house. I also was concerned and immediately realized I could not eat this because I would be throwing up later. My meal also was supposed to come with " soup or salad." That never came and I was offered a $10 gift card for next time. The price is here are not cheap. The food is horrendous and below a Denny's and Risky at best. For the prices, you are absolutely being ripped off for subpar food being cooked by individuals who have no business cooking anything much less high-end cuisine do not I repeat do not eat here. In an effort to try and salvage our date night, I paid the man, $126 leaving all of our food on the table because I didn't want to fight about it and ruin our date night. We went to another restaurant spending an additional Large amount of money for a night of $500 just to salvage date night. read more

The Teppanyaki chef, that we had was so super, he was so nice and so personable and he cooked everything to order, he is the reason that they got as high of a score as they did. He was funny and had a little show at the end and I loved it. He said his name Zee but it started with an X so I'm sorry that I don't know how to spell his name correctly. If I ever go back, I would love to have him again as our Teppanyaki chef, because he made the total experience. The food was decent. The drinks were decent. The view is spectacular and very relaxing. The patio and lounge were great. My bill came to $124.86 for just for me. I had a chunk roll, lamb chops Teppanyaki with fried rice, an added on a side of jumbo scallops and a blueberry lemon drop. I don't mind the cost of the meals for the most part. I was just really surprised that the add-on of scallops to my meal was $25 and I literally only received three scallops yes three. Three scallops for $25 was totally overpriced and ridiculous. Dang they couldn't even make it an even number give me four? Everything was good. The food was good. My lamb chops were cooked perfectly but it just baffles me that it was $25 for three scallops. Jumbo or not jumbo $25 for three is ridiculous. Well, will we go again, yes, I probably will, but I definitely will not be getting any of the add-ons... again 3 scallops for $25. If it wasn't for Teppanyaki, chef, the view, and the ambience. I probably would not have given four stars. I also thought the valet parking situation for the casino was a little off and a little strange. You valet park in the front of the casino, but when it's time to get your car, you scan your valley card on one floor then you have to walk across the casino go down some elevators to the Laura lobby to pick up your car. It's a little strange to me that you don't pick up your car at the same place you drop it off. Maybe they do this for the flow of traffic but it is just a little odd. It is tough to get a drink refilled while at the table, so we just started getting up and going back to the bar for our drinks. They changed the dessert, it isn't scooped ice cream anymore, and quite frankly I'm not sure what it even was, it tasted beyond awful. The outside was squishy and doughy with an unpleasant taste, and the inside was a ball of ice cream. We come here very often, we've become friends with the staff. This place has come a long way since they opened but the recent changes aren't the best, and the previous manager is no longer there, he was phenomenal, talked to everyone. New one is incognito.
