This unassuming place off Auburn rd has some of the most flavorful food and wonderful waitstaff around. The food is fresh and hot every time. We ordered pick up for dinner and the service was very fast which was great! We ordered chicken pad Thai curry , chicken fresh rolls and curry puffs. The curry puffs were delicious and the chicken fresh rolls were also great. I would highly recommend The chicken fresh rolls because they are light, healthy and very fresh! I was most excited for the chicken pad Thai curry but I took a couple bites and didn't finish it. It was unfortunately mostly bean sprouts with a few noodles and maybe 2 or 3 small pieces of chicken. We order during covid, over the phone, everything was sooo good (per usual), random things thou, that I wish they clarified over the phone as we're ordering... 1. I was craving sushi and wanted to try something new. I've heard plenty of good things about this place, so I figured it was time to check it out. Walking in, I am happy to see that they serve Halal meats! YES. I like that. I scoured the menu and loved the selection and pricing of their menu. The interior is spacious, well decorated and seems to have a nice regular crowd that eats here on the regular. I had considered eating at the bar, but decided on a booth since it wasn't overwhelmingly busy when I had arrived. I had considered ordering one of their Thai dinners, but wasn't that type of hungry. I started with an order of Crab Rangoons, and it was absolutely delicious! I loved it. I could have eaten like 10 of them. I ended up ordering the bagel sushi, which consisted of 6 pieces of sushi with salmon, cream cheese and avocado. Sadly, I wasn't as impressed as I was with the crab rangoon. The first reason was, the rice tasted really super dry. Like it had been made the day before or something. But, the major issue that turned me off was the seaweed in the sushi. It was exceptionally chewy and didn't taste very good. I had a hard time finishing it, and didn't care for it. Do I think the sushi was bad? No. I didn't care for the texture of the dry-ish rice and the exceptionally chewy seaweed. I think next time I come here I'm going to try one of their dinner plates instead? Overall, I really like this place, and think it's totally 100% spot on. I would rather come here for their Thai food, and their crab rangoons. I also like that they seem to have a nice regular crowd that dines here, along with bar seating if the place should fill up. Just no more sushi here. LOL read more

This is our go-to Thai take out. We love the Thai fried rice and spring rolls. Pad Thai is also delicious and authentic. We always order it with chicken snd the meat is a great quality. I also prefer to order from here because their spice levels are consistent and they actually give you what you ask for. Well once again this place has let me down. I really wanted to give a second chance for this restaurant, but no more! I am done. 1.I came to pick up my order, they have handed me a wrong order, I drove off with it and then I realized that's not my order, so I had to drive back...so they took the order back and they placed it behind them, they never even checked it if I touched that order, so the customer behind me actually picked up his order after I had it in my hands while I opened it and looked thru it. They never apologized for giving me the wrong order, the fact that I had to drive back 15 minutes just to pick up the right order! 2. I was a weekly customer, sometimes even twice a week, I only order the same exact thing each week, always mild + Last week I ordered fried rice with crab meat mild + it was unbelievably spicy to the point I was able to see the RED SPICE covering my entire dish. I called and said " I'm sorry but this is not the same as I always order, it's too spicy for me" she said nothing that I can do for you, it's your fault for ordering mild + . I said look if I didn't know my order and how mild + supposed to taste i wouldn't have called you! She had such a bad attitude, she wouldn't let me speak and explain, she continued to argue with me over and over again, just like she did previously (poor management). I hang up the phone and called again to speak to a manger (ps. This place does not have a manager). So this guy picked up the phone and asked me to send him a pic of my food so he can give me credit for the next time I come in, he asked for my phone number and name and I told him and he said this one time we will do it for you. I was pleased. Well today I called in to order my usual the fried rice with crab meat mild + and SURPRISE they made me pay for it!!!! Very disappointed and will never go back again This restaurant somewhere along the way have become very full of them selfs... Sukhothai used to be a lot better! In the past, we would get soup with our entree but they don't give soup anymore. Also, we had a table of 5 and they charged 18% tip -- usually I wouldn't have mind, but our server never checked up on us and refilled our water.. plus isn't it usually table of ten or so where they charge more than standard gratuity? The food didn't disappoint though - I got the curry chicken and my boyfriend got the chicken pad Thai.. portions were huge and we had more than enough to take home (again, we had to go get our own take our boxes). read more

Visited on fathers day so this review is just for their lunch buffet. It was $16.95 which is very reasonable. Everything was ok but nothing was outstanding. Sushi was included, unfortunately not the best quality fish. They had a full house and not enough staff. I dont think we saw our waitress after we were seated. We had to put our used plates on the table behind us. The fresh watermelon and strawberries on the dessert table were my favorite. I also enjoyed the coconut soup. I am not sure is this is their first attempt at buffet but I have a feeling we would have had a better experience if we could order from the menu. read more

The best Thai food I've had in a long time. I was with a party of five, we were seated immediately. The waitress was so kind and helped us with the menu. We ordered the crab rangoons and the crispy rolls and they were both delicious. The filling for the rangoons was so creamy and they were generously filled. The crispy rolls had a ground chicken filling and those were so yummy too and it was such a large portion for the five of us. We then ordered two orders of the drunken noodles one with shrimp the other with chicken. I only tried the shrimp one, it was delicious. Full of flavor and very spicy. (We ordered all the dinners as medium plus for heat) I love spicy food so although it was extremely hot I enjoyed it but if you don't like really spicy food I would go with mild plus. The pad Thai was amazing, probably my favorite of the two. Super spicy but also sweet. The shrimp in both dishes was cooked perfectly. And although I didn't try the chicken drunken noodles everyone else at my table loved it. The interior of the restaurant is nice and it has a casual vibe. The staff was very kind and welcoming. I've been to other good Thai restaurants in the area and Sukhothai does not disappoint. Like other reviews pointed out, their Curry Pad Thai is outstanding. Plenty of protein along with a healthy portion of tasty noodles, onion and other yummy fresh ingredients. If you like curry you'll enjoy this dish. Another tasty dish we enjoyed was Pad Bai Kra Prow. We chose Tofu as our protein along with basil, bell pepper, green onion in a tangy brown sauce. If your looking for a unique appetizer, try the crispy roll. Minced chicken, bean spouts and mushrooms in a dipping sauce. I'm looking forward to try a different entree the next time we order as there are many delicious sounding options. read more

Trusting my fellow yelpers we went for it. All I can say is WOW. We walked in and got seated right away. The decor is nice and it seemed like a pretty popular place. Here's a couple of tips if you dine here: Pay with cash and you get 10% off. Eat here on a week day. Otherwise they charge a "dinner seat fee". That's an additional $4.50 a person. (That goes against my religion). The sampler appetizer is delicious. Order it. This was our first time here. Overall it's not bad. I had been lagging on this review for some time now. Coming from SoCal, I've gotten used to being spoiled with all types of yummy Asian food anywhere I went: from Filipino, to Korean, Thai, and more. That being said, coming to Auburn Hills for medical school was a bit of a shock and my friends had warned me that I probably wouldn't be finding the food that I had grown so accustomed to. One night I recall nagging a friend to go get some Thai food, as I was having a super huge craving for some pad see ew. We decided to try out Sukothai because the reviews looked promising and it was close by. Ordered the pad see ew and honey chicken, both of which we were very impressed by. The pad see ew was flavorful, the noodles were perfectly cooked (not too moist/soggy, but definitely not dry either) and the veggies were crunchy and delicious as well. The honey chicken was to die for. The sauce was so savory, but it definitely wasn't overwhelming. Paired with some steaming white rice, it really hit the spot on a very cold 65 degree night (yes, 65 degrees is cold for me! Definitely not from the area!). The decor was very traditional as well and it made me feel like I was in one of the hole-in-the-wall places I normally eat at when I'm at home in California. Service was fast and all of the people we interacted with were very kind. Whenever I'm craving Thai food, I'll be sure to make some time to come back! read more

At the front of the entrance it clearly states that there will be an automatic 18% gratuity charge for 5 people. The wait staff didn't deserve any gratuity from us tonight. I assume the wait staff thinks they can give shitty service and just automatically add the gratuity. That's not how it works. Check your receipt closely. Sad to see this place go down. Stopped by for lunch. Location and construction are pretty convenient. Full alc bar. Sushi bar. Decent ambience. Food top notch. We ordered tofu spicy curry and veggie rolls. And tom yum which ended up being complimentary. They won me over when I saw broccoli in the tom yum- never seen that before. Full of well flavored and finely chopped veggies. I felt my biceps inflate with protein as I sipped the heaven. Veggie rolls so crisp on the outside and so well cooked on the inside with peanut sauce. The main course was a mind blower- red curry tofu. I went for steamed at the rec of the server. So soft- I had to switch to fork bec my chopsticks wont hold it. Melted in my mouth with oh so delicious curry!! Steamed rice was fresh off the oven- soft and watm. I ordered a island ice tea which was only 5 bucks ! And the quality was decent. Finished with dessert- fried honey coconut banana with vanilla ice cream - delicious!!! Overall- my gotto place for thai. For all this we paid 20 bucks!!!!! I am coming her again.
