My wife and I needed a pick me up this past Saturday late afternoon, and the timing was perfect. Not crowded and plenty of treats to choose from. They even had a gluten free chocolate chip cookie that felt homemade. (I forget the bakery's name that was on the wrapper). My wife enjoyed her espresso milk shake and I had their seasonal strawberry crumble (cinnamon) latte and loved it! I would have never thought about strawberry flavor in a latte - but glad I was feeling "adventurous" that day. Lol. It actually reminded me of when I was a kid and would make strawberry flavored milk with Hershey's strawberry syrup. So basically that plus cinnamon and coffee. Who knew?! Their seating area is very cute and they have outdoor tables as well. (It was too hot for outside but in the cooler season it would be a nice little local neighborhood spot to chill out in). The baristas were also very pleasant and friendly. Additionally, I visited the restroom to wash my hands and I seriously don't recall ever seeing such a clean, spotless, and pleasantly scented, coffee shop or restaurant bathroom! I love Summer Moon, and I didn't realize it was such a large chain until I came to review it. I love trying new coffee spots when I'm traveling, and summer moon definitely fulfilled expectations. The space itself is so cute and aesthetically pleasing. It's bright and open, and has a lot of cute merch to buy. Their menu is a good size with several options. When I was there in the wintertime they had a sugar cookie latte which was delicious, and I was pleased with some of my other visits with a sugar free latte. Customer service is top notch! I encountered a friendly employee at register. I let her know I was a first time customer and asked her opinion about their chai. She told me about a modification that was tasty and gave me a sample! It sold me! I can't recall a coffee shop offering me a sample like this before. Stupendous! I ordered the vanilla chai and an almond croissant. That's where I was disappointed. I learned that the pastries are from Easy Tiger, and I'm not a fan of theirs. All that said, the atmosphere was nice; there were people working and people sitting and visiting with each other. It was chill. I felt at ease inside. Cute shop and plenty of seating. However, it does get crowded. I liked the location as there is a cute clothing shop next door. I ordered the chai latte original, but it was actually not as flavorful as expected. They had other chais that I'll come back for. I know... I didn't order what they were known for such as their moon drinks but I am not a coffee person so I base my ratings on chai lattes. I also got the pistachio croissant which was okay. I'd stay for the vibes and ambiance and come back to try another drink but I can't say this was my favorite coffee shop yet. read more

I had been a while since I walked inside to order a coffee at Summer Moon Coffee at this location. As my surprise the place looked great and refreshed. The decor is very nice with table seating inside and outside. I ordered a drip coffee and Bacon, Egg & Cheese in a Flour Taco. The barista was super nice and friendly and the place felt very relaxing. The coffee had a great flavor and the taco was very good and made by The Green Cart (local company). Liked like you could not bring your dog inside where saw one person tie his pup up outside and walked inside to order. read more

One thing I like about this location is I can always find a seat! Whew! Food: I had already eaten breakfast, but the pastry case was tempting. The pastries are always good and they heat them up! Alas I just ordered an iced half winter moon latte! Yum! Sweet and delicious! Service: A member of the staff (David M) was walking up to people in line to take their orders. He was kind, openly showing the order being added to the cart, and efficient! Well done! The other staff calling out names were nice as well! Ambiance: I got a seat! Summer moon has been at the top of my coffee list for a while now however there are not any in the pflugerville area so getting to one is out of my way. Today it was along my route so we stopped in. This location has a drive through so that's a plus. We went inside as the drive thru seemed back up. There was lots of seating, souvenir items for sale , along with yummy baked goods and coffee beans. We got the summer moon and half moon latte . Both were great and ready quickly! I also stumbled upon the Babka ATX cinnamon bread which is so good can't wait to eat it! Decor was the same as the rest and Nicely decorated for the holiday season! read more

I've held off on this review for a while, because you can see from previous reviews that this is a hotly contested establishment. There's been some dodgy political moves. There's been some talk of it not being the best place to work. All things that have nothing to do with their coffee, but are certainly going to affect your reviews if you are in Austin, and they should, but... All that said, I'm relenting, and reviewing this location specifically, because: The Vanilla Chai Latte here is quite simply the best drink I've ever had. Period. It's absolutely not going to be for everyone. Almost certainly not going to be for most die hard coffee or tea drinkers, because it's too sweet. If I'm perfectly honest, as a chai connoisseur... I would have taken a trip to NYC just to go to Dean and Deluca when they were still in business, RIP... this drink has nothing to do with Chai and much more to do with, *clears throat* cereal milk. Which is what it tastes like. It has burrowed into my brain, and I can't stop drinking it. It's my go to treat when I'm feeling down. It just ticks all my boxes. Why this location specifically? Well because not all Summer Moons are created equally, and this is another reason they are a debated business. Ex. There's a location up north that gave me a hot chocolate so bad I might have guessed it was poisoned in some way. This location however, has never let me down, and the services is always fantastic. Also, at least as far as I can tell, all the employees seem to genuinely enjoy working at this one. I've even know a couple of friend, of friend, acquaintances who worked at this location and liked it. So, do with that what you will. The one in Buda is very solid too. Just try it. You will know right away if you like it or not. If you don't? Move on. If you do? Welcome to the club and I'm sorry, because it's going to haunt your dreams, and replace all other beverages in your mind. read more

I love this location due to it having a drive thru. It is usually a long wait to get thru it though. Sometimes the employees are just giggling with each other and forget I am at the window. Besides the occasional long wait time, I also hate they are cashless. They have no signage near the drive thru and I felt unprepared scrambling for my debit card. That's due to my own anxiety though. Coffee is always great per all summer moon locations. So I'm just mindful about not going when I am in a rush. read more

First -- great staff. Humorous, smart and warm. Second -- fantastic coffee. Third -- you have to try the babka. (Babka? In Texas? I'm from NYC and I'm skeptical.) But, yes. I ordered an earl grey tea latte with oat milk, what I got was regular Green tea, with a splash of oat milk added into it. On top of this, they only used one teabag for 16 ounces of water, so on top of being the wrong type of drink and wrong type tea, it was incredibly watered down. Generally the rule of thumb is to use a teabag for every 8 ounces. I have gotten a decent Earl grey tea latte here before, so there seems to be a huge lack of consistency. read more

Very bad service and taste compared to any other summer moon. There was no coffee and more of a skim milk in Lattes

The pros: nice atmosphere and folks working there. Cute name. The not-so pro: they sweeten their coffee drinks by percentages and call it "moon juice." I don't add sugar to my coffee drinks so I got the lowest percentage, "quarter moon." Still didn't really like the coffee. Price is about equal to their green competitor, but flavor isn't, imo. They do have baked goods, including some gluten-free. I ordered a few of these and they didn't offer to heat them, so they tasted a little stiff and cold. Meh. There were several people working on their laptops there, and the atmosphere seemed peaceful. Parking is available in the attached lot. read more

Delicious, warm and inviting! Walking inside, you enter a cozy, and festive coffee shop. With the Christmas tree in the corner and the cute decorations, summer moon is a nice place to spend time in. There is plenty of parking outside, and many tea and coffee options. Summer moon of course has a seasonal coffee menu. I decided to try the toasted chestnut latte and it was sugary and tasted similar to a hazelnut latte. It hit the spot and was a decent price for about ~$6. I've been here once before and really enjoyed my drink the first time, so we had to come back! The ambiance is very welcoming, hipster coffee shop. Ordered a matcha latte. Had like zero matcha in it. Had to come home and add my own in it. Just thought it would be good because their other drinks are. I know real matcha can be expensive but when you spend a good amount and get sweet milk on ice and have to add your own tea it defeats the purpose of going to a coffee place. If this review was based on the people that work there, it would be 5 stars. As someone who is in this location at least 4-5 times a week, I can't speak highly enough about the team and how lovely they treat customers (myself included) That said, this 3 starts is for 2 specific things, space and food. Space: There's just not enough seating in the place. I know it's a small location, but it's also the busiest location. I'm sure it drives the most revenue for the Summer Moon brand, but you're also losing a ton of money from the amount of people that walk in and walk right out. I've personally had to do this about 3 times in the last month. There's a lot of ways that more space could be made in the place, if management (outside of the store) wanted to. I would imagine that the average ticket price from seating more customers would greatly exceed the amount of revenue made off of the merchandise... Food: Part 1 - Not everyone has a sweet tooth. Unfortunately, muffins, donuts, and pop-tarts are all that is offered at the location. Is there any reason why a more nutritious option isn't available? Maybe a small veggie pack, hummus pack, even local sandwiches? Don't get rid of the sweets, but catering to more people's dietary interests could be significantly beneficial. Part 2 - I recently came in and decided that I WOULD purchase a muffin just to have something. When I looked in the case, there were about 15-20 bugs that look to have taken over the baked goods case as their new home. They were happily enjoying their comfy, sweet, and deliciously flakey bed. Unfortunately, this really grossed me out, and I told the staff. I know the seasons are changing and we can expect more bugs, but that means that we have to be more diligent about keeping that case closed, or avoiding what might be causing them to make the case their home. If that's all that's available for customers, let's preserve the quality. It's not the first time I've seen the case like this, and expect it to not be the last. I really hope that these things get taken into consideration and actually acted on. I'm sure the staff would also appreciate it as well, as they're the ones that have to speak on these things to customers. That said, the employees keep me coming back, but I hope the food and seating will soon be additions to why I continue to come in. read more

This Summermoon has not impressed me. Not that age is a defining factor, but it seems it's run by only high schoolers and the result is a lot of waiting and lack of clarity. Most recently, I had ordered in the drive thru and asked for an oat milk latte with Oatly, as I have a gluten allergy and can't drink the Pacific foods brand. I told the guy that as I ordered and he said oh for sure, they can do that. Then, with three cars ahead of me, I sat in the drive thru for upwards of 10 minutes. After the slowest moving drive-thru line I've ever experienced, I get to the window and the young boy says they actually are out of Oatly and asked if I still wanted the drink. I repeated I couldn't because it was an allergy and left without coffee in hand. It's frustrating that coffee shops don't all make an effort to have gluten-free oat milk on hand but that wasn't really what irked me. I just wish the boy had checked and communicated all of that when I ordered, and saved me from waiting forever in line for no reason. My previous ordering experiences have been better but as for the coffee itself, I only really go here for convenience. The iced latte is usually really watery and lacks much flavor. So unless you like super sweet coffee and order something with moon milk, which given it's what they're known for, you probably won't find a super great plain coffee drink here. read more

I wanted something tasty before my hike and I love a good cinnamon roll. If you get the cream cheese cinnamon roll you will want a fork. It's very gooey but in the good way. Although it was super busy on a foggy morning I got my order taken quickly. This crew is very efficient. I like sitting outside weather permitting and there were plenty of places.
