Just had my last Sumo Dog. Loved them. Their management not so much. I went on Sunday, saw they were advertising half-priced Dogs on Monday and came in the next day on Monday only to find they took down the sign Monday morning and refused to honor what they advertised. I don't patronize bait and switch companies. Too bad. The food was good. Edit: There was no expiration date listed on the signs. Imagine effectively being told to "Come in tomorrow" for a deal and then the deal is not honored. Deceptive advertising at the very least. A $5 offer for leaving me with a bad taste in my mouth for your lack of customer concern when I asked the deal to be honored which would have cost you less is too little too late. I've told at least 20 people to go to this place. No longer. Never coming back. read more

The hot dogs are really good. I got the Miso Katsu dog, and the teriyaki bacon dog. The katsu dog is a breaded meat in a bun, and you use a fork and knife to eat it. Not bad for $5.00 on a Tuesday. I've had the California Dog, Sumo Dog, and Miso Katsu (my personal favorite now). For sides, the tater tots are crisped to perfection and the sushi rice tots were fun too. Service is stellar. This is the pinnacle of a delicious blend of fusions of flavors. Nothing could have prepared me for how fantastic these dogs are. We had almost everything on the specialty menu and it is rare that a single restaurant could have no wrong choices. Today, our travels took us to Indio, CA. 2e decided to stop in at Sumo Dog and try them. The girl behind the desk was helpful and friendly. Foopd came out fast. I got the chili dog with no cheese, and my better half got the sumo chili and cheese dog. Both dogs were very overcooked. Outside was tough, and the inside was overly tough and chewy. Each dog had been sitting, I believe, on the heater fornhours. I've had quicktrip hotdogs done better. The chili was fairly bland as well. The tater tots were ok. Bland and could have been browner. But ok. My better half got thendeep fried sushi rice tots. Basically, that's all they are. They were so tough and not good. At $10 a dog, I can not recommend Sumo Dog. read more

She recommended the Bhan Mi, but since I had an actual Bhan Mi sandwich earlier, I opted for her #2 recommendation, which was the Sumo Chili. Food: Sumo Chili and Cheese & Miso Katsu. Miso Katsu was good and decent size (6"). It was covered in batter and fried. It was crisp and had good flavor. It had a good balance with the teriyaki sauce. Glad we tried it and would get it again. Sumo Chili was a bit salty. Not a fan, but someone who enjoys a little salt may enjoy it. The combo came with tater tots which was more dense than we expected. Flavor on the tots was mediocre. It was more like sushi rice than potato. Overall, glad we tried it. It's a been there done that kind of place. Not very impressed. So many different thoughts while writing this review. First, I want to say a big reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 3 is because the staff was incredible! So friendly and helpful! I wanted to give 3 stars due to taste of the food, but I think it more so had to do with my own dislike for flavor combinations rather than the general consensus. We ordered three dogs and every dog has all ingredients that I love, but I don't think I liked them all put together if that makes any sense. The only dog I really enjoyed was the banh mi dog. With all that being said, I'd go back and stick with hot dogs without a conglomerate being on top. The quality and snap of the actual dog was amazing I must add! read more

Man this was good. My buddy ordered the regular old dog with fries which he loved. I ordered the Miso Katsu which was delicious. Not healthy but delicious! I also ordered the Sushi Rice Tots. First of all the aesthetic is amazing, plus the service perfect. Everything was clean and the cashier was lovely. I love the idea of a gourmet hotdog! But my only complaint was hotdog itself. It had so much sodium I don't mind paying money for good quality food but please fire your beef distributor because dog quality could be much better. I love everything else! My hubby and I were cruising for something funky and festive. Diet season has sprung upon us and before we cut those winter pounds we wanted something that we could write home about. We heard of this place and thought today was the day! We enter in the doors and instantly smell bacon and hot dogs in the air. I winced at the price- two dogs can mean a second mortgage and eating in for the entire month. But it was a treat I just don't know if a treat of 30 was worth it for two dogs and two canned beverages. We sat down and chatted while the fryer was going. Chopping ensued and chatter behind the scenes let us know that our meal was being prepared. Then poof, our name was called and we picked up our little morsels of delight. Like Sméagol protecting the great ring, we went to the car with our dogs. Sat down and opened the box to something that left us scratching our heads. It was not what we were expecting. 11 dollars for something no bigger than my hand and no wider than the length of my finger. The Godzilla was 13 and more of tail end of a donkey and I was jack...well, you know what I felt like. We sat there and felt jipped. We look at each other and said alright we're committed. I hunched over and bit into the dog. The bread was fluffy, the hot dogs insane! And the spice! The spice was enough to make you want more but not over powering where you had instant regret and later will be crying on the toilet. Probably the best dog I ever had. Hubby let me have a bite of his Godzilla Dog. It was alittle soggy but the flavor was okay. Nothing to write home about. But the Banh Mi. Chefs kiss. Even though we went on Friday we still got charged full price for the Godzilla and not the special 6 dollar price. Would I go back, maybe. Is it worth the price-no.
