This review is long over due. This establishment is great. The sales guy is very knowledgeable & very friendly. I wanted specific name brand products & he understood & met my needs. I purchased an Alpine deck, custom dash kit. A pair of 6x9's & component speakers. I took my 2 amps & capacitor. They rewired the entire system. This is a pro shop. The material used for the custom sub box is great. My only regret is that I didn't get 2 sub's installed. (I found an extra sub in my closet AFTER the installation) LOL. (Late review) Summer of 2015, I took a 2016 Subaru WRX in for install work. I intended on purchasing a mono amp, install accessories, and paying for labor. Approx 1,000 miles on the new car. I provided new in box Infinity Kappa 6.5" speakers for the doors (front and rear. Provided a new in box Inifinty 12" sub. One (4) channel class D Alpine amp for the doors. All products were first market products AKA purchased from Crutchfield. I had a 12" enclosure from the Mercedes that I had just traded in. Purchased an Alpine Mono amp from the store. Paid for the install dropped off the vehicle. My memory is about $700 +/-. At 2 PM, I got a call from the store. Cool I thought, my new toys are all set.....I was told that the sub was bad right out of the box...As I lived in NW Peoria at the time, I didn't want to stop at this point as the drive was cumbersome from my house to Sun Valley. What are my options I ask....He makes a few suggestions and while I am not a fan of Alpine subs, I purchased the sub over the phone. I was about to hang up when he indicated that my enclosure was a bit flimsy for said Alpine sub. Again, not wanting to call it off, I was priced and agreed to pay. Another few hours and I head back and get my car, paid the difference. I think I am at $1,000 spend now, outside the eternal cost of the Crutchfiled gear. (Box up the 'bad' sub and send it back - yes I got a refund on the sub after I paid to ship it back; shipping subs is not cheap) Hop in my new car. I'm pumped! No more lame Subaru stereo speakers - all mid to high end Infinity and Alpine!!!!! Now, it's July and 100 degress in PHX. AC on like a champ. Stereo on..... AC right off....Even at 40, my ears could hear what I will call low level noise. Please do not confuse this with a grounding issue; it was low level static like noise. I want to get home as today has not gone my way. Perhaps it will go away - we've all heard the urban legend of 'breaking in' speakers... Next day I awake like a child on 25 December to play!!! Car on - stereo on but volume at zero. There it is the low level noise. Ah man, this is not going well. Car off, paper for notes, DB meter app on my phone downloaded. I take static readings with just the ambient noise in my garage as a baseline. I take an interior DB reading inside my car, engine off. Repeat now with engine on for baseline, inside my garage noise. Now turn on radio power, volume on zero, DBs increase. OK, I'm not making this up, low level noise (as I call it) is present. Take a day off work (no, I am not complaining about using vacation time just sharing) and go back as they are expecting me. Ryan I believe was my salesman and he's ready for me at about 10 am (my memory) So, they consider different LOCs to no avail. Consider something like LOC amp part to no avail. They concluded that the Alpine 4 channel, class D amp, was the culprit; they indicated that it's understood that they can be noisy. Now, my last stereo was 100% JL audio save for the deck and speaker wire - Amps JL, speakersJ L, JL loaded enclosure, JL amp install kit, JL clean sweep. As this car was my toy, and relatively inexpensive car, I didn't want to 10% of the price of the car in stereo gear, so I didn't want a $2,500 stereo. (Purchase price of car $25,000).... So Ryan, what do we do I ask....He suggests a JL amp....ok I say. Do it. He gets the same results. Ryan, what do we do now? He suggests a higher end JL amp. I grin and bear it. My spend was about $150 on the original Alpine. I end it with a XD 400 and a spend of about $500 after tax. Oh and the day and a half of anxiety and frustration...Guess what didn't go away? The low level noise. Shame on me, I go back a 3rd time for tweeters....I think, maybe somehow this will fix? No. :( Why am I writing this now? I traded in the subject vehicle for the same car just newer. I've got the amps from SVS on my counter and I am shopping for a shop to install. However, I am gun-shy about going back. If this happens again, what's the solution? Perpetually getting more and more expensive gear? I do find it odd that so many parts had issues. I can see one noisy amp or one bad Inifinity sub ...But all these solutions and the noise remained but my money didn't. Look for the picture I took as validation of my check in. Trust the reviews, I did. Drove down from Prescott to Phoenix to get an infotainment center installed. Monitor, core and back up camera into a Mercedes Sprinter RV. I'm not going to belabor the issues I've had for two years to get a working back up camera etc. Anything to do with RV's takes 4 times as long and rarely can you find anyone to understand what you have and know how to work on them. I'm shortening this review because it's just too much...for two years, it was just too much with 6 other companies in three other states...just not knowing how to get me a functional system..it was always somebody else's fault was what I heard time and again and my anxiety level was through the roof of actually driving away with an operational system....but there I was...driving away with a brand new operational infotainment center. Great Service and installation. I had a trip coming up and did not want to drive through the desolate parts of AZ and NM without Satellite radio left to just listen to the radio...not much selection in some of those areas. They are busy and worked with me to get me in for the short time period before I left. There was some miscommunication on the placement of the new stereo as I had gone from a double DIN to a single DIN and wanted it to go in the higher spot on my vehicle. Errors happen and to me is not that it happens as in this case, but that they corrected it for me immediately which to me is a big part of customer service as we are all human. Great with placement of the antenna for the Satellite radio and mic for the phone option through my radio. It was so good I actually had to ask where they put it as I could not find it when I was looking and was nicely place on the steering column to be effective and of course inconspicuous :) Second car I have had them put in a stereo and they rocked the first time as well. To begin this review, let me state I'm an old codger who put himself through college as an auto stereo installer when Nissan was still Datsun and made the B-210. During the intervening decades, I've experienced the good, bad and the ugly in car stereo installation. Sun Valley Stereo is the BEST auto stereo dealer I have worked with. Ryan DeWitt is absolutely outstanding. He knows his car stereos, their application, and what they will and won't go into. I found Sun Valley Stereo through Yelp! I was a bit skeptical that any business could have all five star ratings, but after having them install an Alpine touch screen Apple Carplay system in my 1997 Ford F-150, I can attest they deserve a minimum of five if not six stars in Yelp's rating system. Here are the reasons for this praise: They know their business; they have incredible installers with decades of experience working in the same shop. That doesn't happen unless you're good at what you do and provide superior customer satisfaction. They don't try to up sell you. They sell you just what you need, no more no less. They sell quality equipment. My F-150 received a tremendous upgrade, at a very, very reasonable price, that included automatic door locks and auto start. They meet deadlines. This is the place to go for car audio repairs! I do not have a fancy sound system, and was not interested in getting one installed. I simply wanted the auxiliary jack in my basic car fixed, and was surprised to find out that regular auto shops and even my car dealership were all unable to help me with this little issue. These guys are amazing! I bought a stereo and speakers from them almost 4 years ago. The system went out so I called them up and got an appointment the same day. They looked it over, for about 30 minutes and found out it was a blown fuse in the wire harness. They didn't charge me anything for this service. What? Who does that nowadays? Normally there's a $50 charge for diagnostic and then another $30 charge for parts and labor. All they said was to come back for my future audio needs. I will recommend this store to anyone needing a stereo install. I tried to install it myself and then messed it up. I got the next available appointment, Ryan who answered the phone is really cool (to everyone there). My love decided enough was enough. After a year of not having an entertainment system in my 2014 RAV4 because it failed, she decided that she could not ride another minute in my car. She reviewed locations throughout Phoenix and decided. We made an appointment, explaining the vehicle, expectations, and pricing. The team offered sound advice, (no pun intended), and we agreed on a pioneer system. My goal was integration with steering wheel controls, back up camera, voice. The system hit all goals along with integration with Apple car play and google. We dropped the vehicle off at 9AM. we were told it would be ready by noon. Well it was ready by 1130AM. NICE. As we collected my vehicle it was great to be informed that they were able to save us almost $100 in parts by making an upgrade. What? Upgrade and less money, huh? Let me also mention that I was skeptical about the integration into my vehicle. I am also big on how it would look. I wanted a system, that looked like it belonged. When I first saw the system I was pleasantly surprised. It really looked like it was made for the vehicle. The tech explained that he could assist in set up but I decided to do it myself. What better way to get to know your new system? He stated that should I run in to any challenges, just call. What a nice touch of customer service. Before I left, in minutes I was able to pair my phone, set presets for the stereo and load my contacts. It took no time at all. I had purchased a Kenwood head unit, installation kit and a Maestro unit off Amazon. I got three quotes from 3 different installers. One of the business asked about different components required for the installation it was like he didn't understand that the installation kit had all of the required components. Sun Valley was the quickest response and least pricy of the other 3 with the best reviews. During the installation of the units they found that the prior owner of the vehicle had did a splice of the factory wiring harness (hack job). Sun Valley repaired the factory harness and still did the installation of the units at the quoted price. Highly recommend!!! read more
