Had to try this new spot! Would give it a solid 3 out of 5. If you're really into Asian fusion I would def recommend to try it out, unfortunately my hubby and I both quickly picked typical brunch menu items and just wasn't super impressed! I think if we potentially stuck with the unique menu items with a flair of actual Asian fusion maybe we'd be more hyped. Service was great! Everyone was nice and attentive. There wasn't a long wait for us to take our order or receive our drinks and food. We got there around 8:45, and glad we did because we noticed only 1 table available. Then a rush showed up around 9. What we ordered: 2 coffees & waters, crispy Benedict, waffle & chicken complete meal.Don't be fooled by the "Sriracha hollandaise" description, it was literally like a dot on top. I was expecting more of a kick or for it to be combined. I think this place would be great to try for anyone who wants something new. But it's unfortunately not making it on my Fave brunch spots lists.
We came here after going to the farmer's market. They were pretty busy but luckily we were able to get patio seating quickly since we came with our dog. The staff was very kind and moved the umbrellas to keep us in the shade and they also immediately brought over a bowl of ice water for the pup. The unagi omurice was creamy with a nicely whipped egg and the unagi gave it a very savory umami flavor. The husband's Hilo Moco was also good, though a little salty. The bacon side and coffee were solid too. It is a bit pricey, but understandable for Midtown. We'll be back again though to explore more of the menu since we love that they are dog friendly and service was top notch!
Had the chance to try this spot on 19th street! I had really high expectations as the photos of the food looked great! We came during a weekday so it wasn't as busy, we came between breakfast and lunch before the lunch rush came! My advice, come around 10, u beat the breakfast rush and avoid lunch rush! Parking can be annoying as it's all street parking. Inside decor is cool as the place is modern with an open kitchen and high ceilings! Service was good, workers were friendly and professional! Angela helped us twice now, and she is awesome! She works hard as she's the only one taking orders and she hustles! Respect to Angela! For the food, we ordered the loco moco, with garlic fried rice and a delicious egg that surrounds the garlic fried rice! They used a wagu beef patty and it was a little over cooked but still had great flavor! The Garlic fried rice was delicious as well as the scrambled egg! Great combo! Definitely a must try! The unagi version is extremely popular and my pops loved it! The poutine was decent but not what I expected, good crispy tator tots, house sauce and a Fried egg! I was expecting gravy and those cheese curds but no thick gravy or cheese curds.... French toast was decent, expected it to be a little more soft or fluffier but it was a little more on the dryer side, good flavor but on the drier side! Lemon ricotta pancakes were probably the best ones I've tried! Fluffy, airy, lemon flavor was on point! Must try! The wealthy pig Benedict was great! Nice pieces of bacon, Avocado, and tomato with a house sauce and a poached egg! Excellent poached egg and it was over a sourdough break instead of English muffin! Also this spot has awesome coffee! The barista is awesome! One dude making all the drinks! He made my latte excellent twice now!! Overall, very happy with this spot! A must try!
Swung by with a few friends for a Saturday brunch. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly they seated and served us, and we were lucky enough to get a table right next to the window. It's a great place for people watching! I got a mimosa and a tater tot poutine dish. Wow wow wow! They were both super delicious and I felt that the price was more than fair for what I received. Absolutely will be back.
Fantastic! What a great meal at sunny side. I love the Asian fusion idea, all of the options were freakin delicious and I can't wait to come back to try more. The lemon ricotta pancakes were absolutely perfect, crispy on the sides and fluffy in the middle with the right amount of lemon flavor. Also the service was incredible. We were helped by at least 3 different servers and all the food came out hot and fast. New favorite brunch spot. Food: 5 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4.5 Value: 4.2 Marcels foodie score: 4.7
I heard of this place via TikTok and thought it would be overhyped and was hesitant to try it, especially after hearing about the long wait times. We came on a Saturday morning at 10am and waited about 30 minutes. Not terrible at all for a weekend. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes with a side of crispy Yukon potatoes and the unagi omurice. Everything was so delicious! The pancakes were just sweet enough and seemed like they were made of a mochi batter. They were somehow both light and crispy. The ginger rice was really good in the unagi omurice. They took our order really quickly and the food came out fast too. They seem to have a good system down to minimize the wait. I definitely will be back.
I love that asian brunches are becoming so popular - and for good reason! We split a little of everything, from the different mimosas to the tornado omurice and chicken and waffles. Everything was excellent and worth the wait, and the staff were very responsive and helpful.
Second time here: - KP Wings are good (actually my favorite are the rice cakes in the dish... crispy style... nice). The wings looked kinda dark, but the soy garlic flavor was good. I prefer wings from other places, but still very good. - Poutine Potatoes: crispy tater tots with bacon, gravy, fried egg, and furakake toppings. Very nice. We got the gravy in the side (dipping them keeps them crispy) - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes: wonderfully crispy edges and light citrus flavor. Excellent if you are in the mood! - Chapaguri: okay, I watched a YouTube video of some expert chef make a dish using two ramen packaged products make a similar dish: mix the Korean chapaghetti with you favorite ramen and add toppings as desired. Well, this is that dish done right! (Tried it myself... not as good as Sunny Side's). Worth a try!
As soon as I saw there was an Asian fusion brunch spot I knew I had to try. This place did not disappoints and was pretty packed when I came in mid day on a weekday. The menu was so hard to choose from with many cool options. Asked the server and decided on the unagi tornado omurice and omg first off the colors and presentation was amazing. Unagi is tender, the sauce is super sweet but evens out with the tender fluffy egg and ginger rice. Meal will leave you happy and full.
Came to Sunny Side Breakfast after checking out a small art fair and left very satisfied! We shared the Unagi Tornado Omurice and the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and it was the perfect amount for two! Starting with the omurice, we really liked the layers of flavor with the sweet and savory rice, creamy egg, and tender sweet eel. The eel portion was also quite generous and there was enough to have some with every bite. As for the pancakes, they had that envious fluffy and chewy texture that you just can't recreate at home. The lemon flavor was also bright and zingy and paired well with the fresh summer fruits on the plate. All in all, great find in midtown. Pair it with the Midtown farmers market and you'll have a perfect Saturday morning in my opinion!
I walked in on Saturday morning around 10:30am, and luckily there was a table available! The restaurant is bigger in person than it looks online. Servers were very attentive. All the food we ordered was delicious! They were perfect portions for brunch. There is no parking nearby so do plan for that ahead. Note- bottomless mimosas are timed and moderated for one hour.. and they are on that!
I totally get the hype now. We went on a Friday afternoon and it was packed, so I was expecting a bit of a wait. The iPad estimated 26 minutes, but we were seated in less than 10. Huge win when you're dining with a kid! The staff was friendly, attentive, and everything felt organized despite how busy it was. I also loved being able to see into the open kitchen. The whole restaurant feels bright, welcoming, and has a fun modern vibe. Our favorite dish was probably the Tornado Unagi. The flavors were amazing and the ginger fried rice was such a unique touch. The Hilo Moco was also delicious with a thick wagyu patty and rich mushroom gravy. My son loved the lemon ricotta pancakes, especially the cute bear face and fresh fruit. And the coconut latte? So good. I'd honestly stop in just for that. We also tried the chicken apple patties and they were way more flavorful than I expected. I'm going to try and make them at home lol We'll definitely be back. One of those places where every dish made us want to come back and try more of the menu.
Breakfast fusion? Yes please. I ordered the bacon, avocado & tomato benedict and it delivered -- really solid flavors, the kind of breakfast that makes you wish you hadn't made afternoon plans. The latte was great too, which honestly completes the whole experience. Service was friendly and efficient without being rushed, which is exactly the energy you want at a breakfast spot. Would definitely come back next time I'm in Sacramento.

Great quality breakfast fusion food and vegan friendly choices here. Price is reasonable. Portions are big enough to share too. Waffles chicken are tender. Flavors are bold. Can't go wrong with any dishes here. I ordered fresh orange juice, but it's not freshly squeezed. I would be back to try something else. read more

My friends and I manage to make it to the brunch spot the second time after the first time. I honestly been trying to go here since I have a preference for Asian fusion so after getting up early and driving the 2 hours from South Bay, we arrived with only a 20 minute wait time. Service is quick and good. We were originally offered the small outdoor patio in the back but chose to move back inside since our table had a lot of ants. Our switch was quickly accommodated for. The interior is aesthetically pleasing along with the presentation of the food. We ordered our morning caeffine along with a appetizer to split. Sunrise Poutine: 5/5 Star of the show. The tator tots was perfectly drained and crispy. The egg was very well and it provided us the much needed flavor and salt we needed. Unagi Tornado Omurice: 3/5 It's not my first time having omurice and honestly I was a little bit disappointed. Perhaps it was because I had the poutine first which was much more flavorful, but the omurice inside was very mild in comparison. If what you're looking for is light on your stomach and palate then would be good for you. The ginger fried rice was very one note and I had expected the gravy to be richer. Coconut latte: 4/5 It's rich, light and creamy. I was hoping for a stronger espresso flavor but that's a personal preference. I did like the unique presentation. Hilo Moco: I can't rate this since I didn't try it fully, but my friend said it was also on the lighter side in terms of flavor. Overall we had a pleasant experience, but it wouldn't be a place we would wait an hour to get off the wait list for. read more
The ambiance is wonderful. The service was fine, nothing special. We got the masala chai, the mocha, the crispy mascarpone, and the country waffle. The presentation of the food was stellar - but flavor was lacking. The masala was just a good tea mix in water. I've never not had a masala chai with some amount of milk to give it that warm creaminess and balance out the spices. The mocha was good - not too sweet. The crunchy mascarpone was good, although extremely rich due to the large amount of mascarpone inside the toast. The country waffle was bland and soft, making it a bite into mush experience. The syrup that came with it was definitely log cabin - it had that slight stringiness and artificial flavor that Log Cabin syrup has. The eggs were prepared to perfection but needed salt, as did the chicken apple sausage patties. read more
Second time here and it was just a good as the last time. Come early in the weekend because it is very popular and there is usually a waitlist. Service is very friendly. I had the Unagi Tornado again and it was delicious. Loved the place so much that I brought friends to introduce them to this spot. I do wish the drinks would come out a bit faster. I don't mind waiting for food as long as I have the drinks I ordered. read more
The food was great and good size portions. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of eggs. The chicken was very crispy and the waffle was sweet and fluffy and not too soft. I would definitely recommend. Other people with me ordered the French toast (the French toast had a good crisp not soggy at all), wealthy pig eggs Benedict, unagi tornado omurice, and the backyard scramble. Everyone enjoyed their food very much. The only downside is that they bring the food out individually so it was a bit inconvenient to eat at the same time or eat our food hot. They were very busy even on a week day and I would recommend making reservations. The restaurant is spacious but they do pack it with tables so there's not a ton of space in between each table. There is only paid street parking and that can be hard to find. read more

The wait is still long here. Came here on Saturday around 11:30am and the wait was approximately 1 hour for a party of 3. Luckily the farmers market was near by so we killed some time and walked around there. I wasn't to say we were seated a little sooner than the expected wait time which was nice. The restaurant is small so I can see why the wait can be long. Food: Jjapaguri- good but flavor is simple, nothing really stood out to me. Hilo Moco- overall decent. The patty was overly cooked. The veggie medley was really yummy, but maybe next time I would ask for more of the gravy. Unagi Tornado Umurice: This was my favorite! Good size piece of Unagi, the fried rice was great, loved the unagi sauce. I would order that again. Drinks: Matcha Latte- Great! Not overly sweet. Mimosa- peach, raspberry and passion fruit. My favorite was the peach. Service: attentive and friendly. Parking is the worst! I guess what do you expect for it being in Downtown. Street/metered parking only. read more

This spot was okay. We waited over an hour (get your name on the waitlist early) and once seated, we have to flag down the waiter several times. My friend got her order much sooner than mine and our drinks didn't come out to the end. They were super busy and very nice, but definitely maybe understaffed? The food was pretty good! Welcoming staff. Unique breakfast options. Great place for a breakfast date. I went on a Sunday morning with my little sister and we had to wait over 45 minutes to be seated so just be aware it does get busy. Overall very satisfied with everything. read more
Great brunch food in midtown Sacramento. We came to Sunny Side Breakfast on a rainy Sunday around 1pm and there was a one hour wait. You add your name to the Yelp kiosk to get on the waitlist. When we finally sat down, we ordered the Unagi Tornado Omurice ($24), the Sunrise Poutine ($13), the Breakfast Steak ($28), the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes ($14), a vanilla latte ($7), and a matcha latte ($7). The Sunrise Poutine was REALLY good! It's tator tots with gravy, egg, bacon, and parmesan cheese. We were starving by the time it came out so we devoured it quickly. The Unagi Tornado Omurice was really good too. There's ginger fried rice in the tornado egg and grilled unagi on top. It was delicious, especially with all the unagi sauce. For me, the Breakfast Steak fell short because we ordered the rib eye steak medium rare and it was clearly overcooked and tough. The yukon potatoes were crispy, but didn't have a lot of flavor. All the other items, the kimchi, asparagus, and arugula, were fine, but not the highlight. The lemon ricotta pancakes were good, but not overly special. The vanilla latte was good and the matcha latte was okay. Almond milk is an extra dollar. Overall, we were very satisfied with our brunch experience. We would definitely get the poutine and unagi tornado omurice again. The restaurant replaced the previous Divine Gelato. The restaurant was bright and comfortable to dine in. Service was a little busy and a bit slow, but the restaurant was full. read more
Sunny Side is a great brunch spot in Midtown that focuses on Asian fusion flavors on traditional breakfast dishes. The menu includes sweet and savory items. I especially liked the Sunrise Poutine: tots covered in savory house gravy and topped with an egg and parmesan. I do wish they used thicker cheese or cheese curds rather than parmesan to really get the poutine texture. The benedicts are their standout items. The Crispy Benedict is perfect. The space here is on the smaller side, so plan accordingly especially if you have a large party. read more

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised by this place! They pulled off the Asian fusion really well. 1. Hilo Moco - subbed for impossible burger to make this dairy free (the original patty is marinated in milk). The mushroom medley was super flavorful and paired well with the white rice, furikake and sesame seeds. The egg on top was perfectly runny! 2. Unagi Tornado Omurice - I was initially intimidated by the amount of sauce, but it was actually perfect. What a well made dish! The ginger was fantastic as a palette refresher as well. Sunny side breakfast spot- location in midtown by the chipotle. I believe they have a small lot and street parking is available. I came during the week for breakfast with a fam member that was in town! The service was really good and everyone was really nice. I got the pig scramble and I believe my friend got the wealthy pig. We also got French toast to share. For drinks my friend got a tea and I got a Carmel latte. Both were really good. All tea is made in house. This restaurant is a really cute Asian fusion breakfast spot! Lots of options and a nice menu! I would for sure come back and recommend to friends and family! read more
First time here and won't be the last! My wife and I went out for some brunch and decided to try Sunny Side, let's just say we weren't disappointed! The only complaint was the wait time for seating, but hey, I'll book a reservation next time. My wife ordered the Crispy Chicken eggs Benedict and I got the Smoked Salmon eggs Benedict for myself. Sunny Side has become my go-to brunch spot in the Sacramento area. They serve Asian American fusion dishes, and on my visit I ordered one of their popular items, the unagi omurice, along with something I had been wanting to try, the yuzu Benedict. I can definitely see why the omurice is so popular. It was delicious, filling, and well worth the price. There was a bed of mixed rice at the bottom topped with soft scrambled eggs and a generous amount of unagi. A sweet sauce was poured over the top. It felt a little overwhelming at first, but once l mixed everything together with the rice, the flavors balanced out really well. Personally, I liked the yuzu Benedict even more. It had a light citrus flavor that made the dish feel fresh, and everything worked together perfectly. I also loved the potatoes. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were a little bland on their own, but adding some salt and pepper from the table fixed that easily. The waitlist was long but moved pretty quickly. There were about 20 parties ahead of me, but I got seated in around 40 minutes. I added my name to the Yelp waitlist and went to walk around nearby while waiting, which made it really convenient to check my place in line and head back when it was almost our turn. The service was fast and friendly, and our water glasses were constantly being refilled. We were in and out in about 45 minutes. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side with mostly two-top tables, but it's very cute and aesthetic with brick walls that give it a cozy feel. I will be back to try their other items! read more

We ordered 2 of their more popular items on the menu and we are so glad we did! Hilo Moco had the perfect gravy! The veggies were a nice touch although I can see this being a not so favorite for some if they are going to compare it to a loco moco. The Unagi Tornado Omurice was - reminded us of our recent trip to Japan. Good portion Bloody Mary was spicy which is how hubby liked it. I had the Soju Espresso Martini and it was delicious Service was quick and sweet, got seated with only a 20 minute wait on a Saturday brunch hour. Servers were nice and attentive. read more

I've had Sunny Side Breakfast bookmarked for so long and finally came on a Monday, which was a holiday. I definitely recommend making a reservation, if possible or join the waitlist prior to arriving. I also think it's better to come closer to opening time. Our reservation was at 10:30 am and it was packed and took awhile to be acknowledged, have our order to be taken, and food to come out. A big part of this has to do with there only being one server who is also the host. The barista comes here and there to help with the service. I love unagi so it was a must for me to try the Unagi Tornado Omurice. My boyfriend got the Hilo Moco. We also ordered the Sunrise Poutine. The Sunrise Poutine was definitely a hit. The tater totes were very crispy and something you consider getting! My Unagi Tornado Omurice hit the spot. A perfect sweet and savory dish. The Hilo Moco was not a favorite as the patty was pretty dry. They also don't ask you how you want it cooked which I definitely think they should, especially considering it's wagyu. I'd love to come here again and try other dishes, especially Lemon Ricotta pancakes! A really cute place to come with friends and family and try fusion food! read more

Amazing food, cute atmosphere, vibrant downtown. Service was excellent. Some of the best breakfast potatoes i've ever had. I assume they boil them then bake them or fry them to a nice golden crisp so they are nice and crunchy on the outside but melt-in-your-mouth on the inside. Simple done right. Lots of people waiting on a Saturday morning but the line moved quick. If you're in Sac looking for breakfast/brunch this is the spot. read more
We all love a new restaurant! We all go in with the expectation of having delicious food, and a great experience! Sunnyside was supposed to be that experience. Sadly, it wasn't. When my BFF brunch buddy and I decided to meet downtown and check out Sunnyside, we were both hoping that this would be a game changer. Based on some of the reviews and the noted lengthy wait time, I tried numerous times to Get on the waiting list for a table, and as it turns out, they weren't accepting names, so I arrived earlier to make sure that I could put our names on the list in case there was an actual wait The seating in the restaurant in my personal opinion is set up poorly, and the tables need to be rearranged to make it more customer, friendly, and not so close to the door so that the cold air or the hot heat blow in every time someone walks in. When you do walk in, there is a small pad that you can put your name on the list. There absolutely is no waiting room in the restaurant, but some tacky people decided to stand between many of the tables waiting for a table. It's not real comfortable to have someone standing over anyone while they're trying to enjoy their dining experience. The restaurant doesn't do anything to discourage this, nor do they check with people outside, so consequently, it's all Chaos. Thankfully, we receded fairly quickly. Someone eventually brought water over to the table, and menus, and then promptly disappeared. We weren't given an opportunity to order coffee or anything else to drink at that time. As a sidenote, the metal chairs are not super comfortable or inviting. They kind of feel like sitting in someone's backyard at a barbecue. The ambience isn't anything really to write home about. There's nothing really warm and inviting about the limited decor, or quite frankly, even the wait staff. Service is incredibly slow from start to finish, and it wasn't just us. It's the entire restaurant. My speculation is this is why they're waiting time for table service/to be seated, is so long. They are either understaffed, or not prepared for how to turn tables quick enough to have people come in, enjoy a meal and seat the next party. When our order was finally taken, it took forever for the food to come to the table, and when it did, the food was not presented together. It took quite some time for the rest of the food to be brought to the table. It's at moment where you feel like you could be at a friends or a relatives home and you know that you need to Wait because there's one person doing everything. In a restaurant there is the expectation that things flow so much better. The food is expensively disappointing. I ordered the ricotta pancakes and chicken sausage. The tiny bit of fruit that was put on the pancakes doesn't really equate too much. One strawberry cut into several pieces, a grape cut in half, and a small slice of orange on top. Why even bother? Especially for what's being charged for this. The pancakes themselves were just horrible, and a little bit of syrup that was brought with the pancakes, tasted like sugar water. I literally ate maybe one bite of my pancakes, and I just could not eat them. They were not flavorful, they were not tasty. they were not anything but disappointing. The chicken sausage, I don't even know what to say about it because it was so bad. I don't know if they're made in house, but I do know that they were not seasoned, not flavorful, and not edible. I had ordered a Diet Coke with my breakfast since I wasn't able to order a beverage prior to ordering food. Soft drinks are served in a can so it's one and done no refills. My breakfast was $25 before tip. When you look at the pictures, you too, will be disappointed. No one ever stopped by the table to check on us and the food. In fact, it took literally 15 minutes for them to eventually bring the check to the table, and probably another 10 minutes before they returned with the finalize bill/credit card. The one thing that I can say is that despite the lack of service, they're definitely was an attempt when we walked in, and when we left to at least smile and acknowledge us. That literally was the highlight of the entire experience. Definitely not an experience that I would make the hard push to look for parking in or around the location. It's midtown so parking is limited to begin with. There are so many other options, where the food and the price point will be so much better. read more

The wait was really long, like 1.5 hours. We knew it was going to be busy, but we were under the impression that Yelp would let us join the waitlist through the app and it never opened up. We actually arrived earlier to check out the farmers market so if we knew that, we would've just checked in in person then headed out to the farmers market but basically had to wait a total of about 2.5 hours. After waiting that long, we were starving and figured the food would make up for it since we'd heard good things. Unfortunately, it was pretty mid overall and the long wait left a sour taste in our mouths. The unagi omurice was actually really good, like a 9/10. But the jjapaguri just tasted like something you could make from an instant noodle pack from the grocery store which I'm not surprised if it is since that's essentially what the recipe consists of. I guess we expected more than just adding mince pork and an egg for a sit down restaurant and charging $20. The coconut latte was also underwhelming. We thought it was going to be a coconut flavored latte, but it just tasted like a regular latte with coconut shavings. The Korean chicken wings were also way too sweet with large chunks of hard batter. I think if the wait was closer to like 20 minutes, we would've felt a lot better about everything. But after waiting an hour and a half, our expectations were way higher and it just didn't really deliver. read more

The wait was over an hour... BUT... the employees were so friendly, the ambiance was lively and happy, and the food was delicious. We loved trying something we've both never had before and we will come again next time we're in Sac! read more

Good food, convenient access and nice place to gather with friends. Didn't realize until I was deep in conversation that Sunny Side is the former home to Devine Gelateria. We popped in for breakfast. We got the poutine and salmon toast. The poutine was dry and not covered in gravy and cheese as I was expecting. The salmon toast met expectations and was filling. They do offer bottomless mimosas which was enticing. read more

Stopped in on a random weekday and was going to order to go. Kind gentleman suggested to stay and I'm glad we did. Cute place and delicious food! We tried the Hilo Moco, Golden Triangle Omelet, and Sunrise Poutine. All came out hot, quick, and were very tasty, with good portions to boot. Will definitely come back, I want to try the Unagi Tornado Omurice!! read more
About a 15 minute wait but plenty to walk around and occupy ourselves. We got the lemon ricotta pancakes and the wealthy pig. The lemon ricotta was SOO yummy, i love the hint of lemon and the pancakes had crispy edges, the fresh fruit were fresh and a good touch. The wealthy pig was good, a big dish so it's overwhelming but i never expect to eat eggs Benedict without it getting messy. Our tab came out to under $40 read more

Oh my gosh! Can't believe how busy this place gets! No RSVP on weekends. Be prepared to wait around for at least 30mins. Resturant is pretty decent decor; kitchen is open so you could low key see what's going on in the back. We were seated right after they called us. We already knew what we were gonna order and that didn't take long. All of our food orders came in quickly and they all look so yummy! After we finished all our food we were pretty happy with our meal. Since this was a bit busy we went ahead and paid for our check so others could enjoy the restaurants. It was my first time visiting for brunch. I went on a Saturday morning and we've had about 10 minutes for a table around 10:30 AM. The food and service was amazing. We did have to wait a little while to get our check but it was extremely busy so we understood. read more
super good! i got the waffles & crispy chicken & my husband got the french toast. the french toast was good. it had a lemon taste to it. not sure if id order for myself but my husband enjoyed it. i really liked the waffles & chicken though. the spicier syrup wasn't my favorite but they give you that & regular to try. their tater tots were really good. everything was a 10/10. the space in the restaurant was big. it was super roomy & well decorated. they're on top with their service as well. we'll definitely be back! read more
Very fast service, servers seemed kind and helpful. We order the soju martini, yuzu benedict, and hilo moco and cleaned our plates! Ended up being $57 before tax and tip. We were very pleasantly surprised by this place, we didn't know much before coming but every dish sounded very good and we loved what we got! Definitely going to come again, hoping to get the crunchy mascarpone or their unagi dish next. Also, the inside seemed neat and had a good ambiance. :-) read more
Sunday, 2/09/2025 - Tried "Sunny Side Breakfast & Asian Fusion" in mid town Sacramento for lunch today. Address is 1221 19th St, Sacramento, CA 95811. It is paid street parking, unless you're lucky and you find a 2 hr visitor parking. I wasn't lucky. My friends were lucky. There's no reservation available. It's first come first serve. We were 8th on the wait list. This little restaurant was pretty busy. Every table was full. Upon arrival.... Pros 1) once it was our turn to get a table, they provided us each a cup of water right away. The table was clean. Funny thing was, I had a child's high chair for me. I thought that was funny. Made me laugh. I just moved the high chair and switch it for another chair. The server was very apologetic. I didn't mind the laugh. 2) we asked for lemon for our water and they brought it right away. 3) it didn't take long for the server to come take our orders. 4) our drinks were good. Match latte was good. Not sweet. Water tasted good. No funky or odd taste. 5) All of our food dish were good. Except for the Hilo Moco. Hilo Moco was just okay. But the rest of the dishes were pretty good. 6) we got our water refill once. Just once. 7) there are 2 bathrooms with one stall in each. It's for men or women. Clean, when I used it. 8) Cons 1) they never checked back with us if we needed anything else or wanted to order anything else. 2) they didn't clean the dirty dishes on our table. When a diff server happened to drop by our table to fill our water cups, we had to ask them to remove our dirty plates. 3) when our server brought us our tab, seeing that we had left over foods on our table, he didn't ask if we wanted to-go boxes. We had to ask him for it. We had 3 boxes. I had to find a server at another table and ask for a bag to carry all 3 boxes. 4) the Hilo Moco was dry and the rice a little on the hard side. It was just a... meh... dish. It may be different for you. But for us, we didn't like it. Conclusion This was a very cute little restaurant. They are pretty busy and didn't check in with us after delivering us our foods. But the foods were good, bathroom clean, and they didn't rush us to get out when we were catching up and celebrating a birthday. Parking was a little hard for me. But my friends found parking. I like this little spot and go here again. read more

everything was amazing! we just ordered to go because we were on a time crunch and sunny side did not disappoint. Service was quick and fast, a little confusing as to where to go to pick up online orders since they just have a yelp waitlist kiosk. But once a server recognized us, they were quick to help! Got lucky getting in early with no wait but the wait would be worth it. Prices were mid being midtown (no pun intended). Service was great and server even greater. We got the unagi tornado omurice and gonna be getting that again in the near future. It was so unique but familiar. The ginger fried rice inside was the best part of it and cut any greasiness or sweetness from the eel and sauce. The salmon Benedict was delicious but next time going to get the smoked salmon on the side. Their yuzu Benedict sauce was really bright and just popped flavor. read more
