Very excited to have a new local brunch spot here in Sacramento! We dined as a group of five girls for an early brunch on Sunday. Food is exceptional. The Hilo Moco blew my mind, but everything we tried was exceptional (all the way from the hot chocolate to the California Toast.) The pricing is unheard of in today's economy for a sit-down restaurant, especially with the quality of food (meaning it was a shocking relief.) My brother, boyfriend, and I went here for breakfast today and the food was sooooooo good. The restaurant is extremely clean and the presentation of the food was amazing. I had to give off one star because I do believe there needs to be more organization within the service process. We saw the server only a few times but there were only two servers working with a food runner. The food and service here is top notch! My kids and I came here for brunch and my kids were craving waffles. This place did not disappoint. We ordered two side orders of waffles, fruit, bacon and scrambled eggs. I was really expecting small orders since they were side orders but to my surprise, everything was well portioned! The waffles were full sized served with some pieces of fruit on top and powdered sugar. Crispy on the outside and nice and fluffy on the inside!. My kids kept saying the bacon was cooked perfectly and the eggs were soft and fluffy as well. I ordered the unagi tornado omurice. They give you a pretty decent size unagi and the fried rice inside was delicious. I shared my leftovers with my husband the next morning and it still was just as delicious as the day before! I highly recommend this place, especially if you're in the mood for something outside of your typical American breakfast spot. The service was welcoming and warm. The food was delicious. I forgot what I ordered but it was the other scramble with chicken sausage right under the piggy scramble my sister ordered. I prefer my sister piggy scramble because it has a more herby flavor, in my opinion. The country potatoes that came with it was bomb I love how big and crispy they were so you know they took their time to crisp those up because it usually takes a while. I also ordered their lemon ricotta pancake. It was great you can taste the lemon and it wasn't overly sweet. It was fluffy and easy to cut into and the pancake had a slight cook edge so it added some texture, not a lot but for a pancake I say pretty good. My sister got the French toast and we both agree it wasn't as good. She said the texture felt off and that it felt undercooked. I honestly didn't mind the texture because it felt like an Asian sponge cake but compare to the lemon ricotta it was just okay. I would definitely come again to try their Asian fusion dishes. I also ordered a coconut latte you can have it ice if you ask while I do think it taste like coconut it was 3/5 because it also tasted like an horchata and creamy wasn't expecting the creaminess as much and a little to sweet I would definitely try the matcha latte next time. read more

As someone who has worked in the food industry, I can understand how difficult it is to provide service for an entire room of people. It appeared that there was only one or two waitresses taking care of everybody on a busy Wednesday morning, so I can understand having to wait a little bit for service. That being said, this is the one and ONLY review I have EVER written. Ever. Here was my experience: My boyfriend and I walked in, and for a minute we kind of just stood around, as there was no implication to if this was a self-seating or sat by a host/server situation. Finally, one lady turned our way and flatly said welcome in, asked how many were in our party, and brought menus & us to a table. She honestly seemed like she did not want to deal with us whatsoever. I was still hopeful, as I know people can have their off-days, and I was not about to let a simple interaction such as that ruin my dining experience. My boyfriend had found this place online, and the food was immediately promising. We checked our menus for a little bit, looking over everything and deciding what we wanted to drink. Our waitress (a different lady than the one who sat us) came over to our table, and greeted us. While ordering our drinks, we told the waitress that we were waiting on one person, and that our third member would be just a few minutes. She told us that it was no problem, and she would put in the drinks that my boyfriend and I ordered. For context, I ordered a coconut latte and he ordered a raspberry lemonade. Now I don't know about you guys, but I don't think a raspberry lemonade should take too long to make, right? Well, we then proceeded to wait 20 minutes for our drinks (which we never ended up actually getting btw). At around the 10 minute mark after ordering our drinks, our third and final party member arrived. I was starting to get a teeny bit impatient. It was 11 AM and we drove a little bit of a distance to try this place, so I was a bit hangry. We chit-chatted with our third member for a tiny bit, and explained how we were a bit frustrated by the service, and that we have not been checked up on or acknowledged since our waitress had--allegedly--put our drink orders in, which was twenty minutes ago. We watched as our waitress greeted and served drinks to multiple tables that came in after us, and even made eye contact with her and attempted to wave her over a couple of times, to no avail. At this point, we were already discussing just leaving, as at this point we had all finished our lukewarm waters with no refills, and were getting very upset and impatient. At the same moment that we were about to get up and leave (which I have never ever done in my entire life), Our waitress came back to check on us. She asked us if we were ready to order, and my boyfriend and I literally stared at each other. It was almost comical, really. We asked about the status of our drinks, and she did not seem confused nor apologetic about the fact that we had not received them yet. Mind you, we have now been sitting at this table with now-empty waters, and have only been checked up on ONE time in twenty five minutes. Twenty five. She told us that she would check on those drinks for us, and walked over to the kitchen. We watched as she did literally nothing except fiddle around with a few napkins and forks, and maybe glance over the counter to see what the cooks were doing, but did not verbalize a status request at ALL. But this is the craziest part. Instead of immediately coming back to let us know how much longer it would be, she went over to TWO MORE TABLES to take their orders and check up on how they were doing. At this point, we had all already discussed another place to eat at, and as we were walking out to leave, the waitress seemed extremely surprised that we were leaving, and as we told her that we were leaving she said, "Oh, I'm so sorry about that." and "Have a good day!". The one time she seemed to actually have a positive attitude was when she was seeing us walk out of the restaurant hungry, thirsty, and neglected. Not a nice feeling, to say the least! I have never had this terrible of experience in my entire life. I have never walked out of a restaurant in my entire life. It did not seem like this waitress had any idea what she was doing. The wait time and terrible service is NOT worth having to wait for mediocre food (judging by other reviews) and expensive drinks, like a small glass of Orange Juice for $6! (P.S., if anyone even cares, we ended up going to Black Bear Diner, and actually, officially getting food at 1:15 PM!!! Isn't that crazy??! Service was amazing there, though! We were there on the day before Thanksgiving about 11a. It took a while for the orders to be taken but we weren't in a hurry. The menu was interesting with a great variety. The place wasn't crowded. The food came out one plate at a time - which again we didn't mind because we share. We ordered the lemon ricotta pancakes which were delicious. Highly recommend. And also ordered the backyard scramble which was also delicious. I wish every place cooked their potatoes like this place. Hot, crispy and fluffy on the inside. We'd go back just for a huge plate of those. Remember they are relatively new. Hopefully they add a server or two (or 3). This definitely hasn't potential to be a huge success. AMAZING! Great little cafe, just opened Oct '24. I had a Japanese styled breakfast of perfectly moist unagi ( eel ) served over a "tornado egg" (gently soft scrambled) and both them served over ginger fried rice. Ordered the unagi sauce and the house gravy "on the side", I just always do. Both were excellent! Nice selection of tea and wonderfully comfortable tea cups. Great service.
