FYI when you order the fresh squeezed OJ it comes 3/4 full.

This place goes up and down in my book. First time we came the service and food was great. The last few times tho something was off: - The fresh squeezed orange juice ALWAYS comes 3/4 full (see the pic). - There are flies flying around the entrance door. Beware they landed on our plates, so maybe ask to sit away from the door. - They let big dogs on the front patio next to the entrance door. Of course with my luck, this dog starts shaking its fur and wagging its tail and ya fur flew all over the place and on my plate. Between the fly and fur fiasco, we're taking a break from this spot. -- And to the owners response below: We did find another restaurant with no flies or friendly dog hair in our food **besitos** ;)

One word.... Delicious! Cute little breakfast in Solana beach! The food was so so good, and so was the service. The food came out very fast (which was SO awesome) because my friends and I had just done a hike so we were starving. Charlie was our waiter, and he was great! Very nice and was accommodating to all our requests. Thank you Sunny Side, for making our visit memorable:) will definitely be back!

    Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice

    I ordered the Solana Omelette. For having chorizo in the meal, I felt like it was lacking flavor. I feel like combination of the omelette didn't go very well together. The mozzarella cheese was a bit dry, for something I wanted more wet. The eggs in an omelette are already generally dry, so It would need something to wet it. I had dipped my omelette in ketchup + tapatio to help with it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The onions mixed in with the potatoes were delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned. Everyone else seemed to really like their food though! Next time I would try the freshly squeezed orange juice as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Both seating options are so incredible cute. I love the green theme going on throughout the restaurant. Our server was kind to us and made sure we had everything we needed! We never had an empty water bottle since we would replace our big ones. I didn't see a designated parking lot for this place, but there is street parking in front of it. {08/04/26 ~ 11:30AM}

My friends went for a group birthday brunch and it was very good. We sat outside and it was comfortable with a heater. There were a variety of meals ordered at our table from pancakes, burrito, scrambles and burger. Everyone was happy with their food. I was excited that they still had the delicious vegan scramble bowl that I got last time I came. It was really impressive. The waitress handled the group calmly and efficiently. The only thing that was lacking was the matcha. I wanted chai but it wasn't available so I chose a matcha latte and it was not very much matcha flavor in my opinion.

not on the menu- Plantation Ice tea- Pineapple juice splash ice tea

Great place for breakfast! Good service. Good vibes. Good food. Short Rib Hash: tender, good flavor, and good portion Wifey ate the special Country Fried Steak. Big portion for her she couldn't finish it. She usually asks for the gravy on the side for this dish. She liked it. She requested the Plantation Ice tea, pineapple juice with a splash of ice tea. Not on menu. Made just like home. Free Parking- In the front and back We will come back whenever in the area.

I would drive all the way from Chula Vista for a meal here again! We were in the area for an errand, found this restaurant on Yelp and it was amazing. Street parking and a parking lot behind the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service was good. The banana pineapple French toast was top 3 best French toast I've ever had in my life. Banana and pineapple, never had that combo on French toast before but it was delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection. The homemade strawberry jam that comes with the toast is DELICIOUS. I wanted to buy some to take home but $8 for the smallest jar was too steep for me. But I look forward to my next visit so I can enjoy all of these things again. I knocked off a star because the fresh squeezed OJ was not filled anywhere close to the top of the glass and was served with ice, so it forced us to drink it fast to prevent it from being watered down. The Arnold Palmer had a great flavor but contained way too much ice. I don't like how they flip their water cups upside down so the rims of the glasses are touching the tables. Yes, they clean/sanitize the tables but I've worked in many restaurants and just don't trust it. But our server was nice and grabbed us new glasses upon our request. Overall, a great dining experience and I can't wait to be back!

After a hike at Annie's Canyon Trail nearby, my friends, and I stopped by to replenish our energy. I ordered the turkey club sandwich that came with extra crispy French fries. The sandwich was huge and delicious! One of my friends got the vegetable and cheese omelette. I had a bite and thought it was also very delicious! The mint lemonade was very minty and refreshing! We loved the food here and would highly recommend the dishes that we ordered! Our server, Julia, took excellent care of us. We were seated in the outdoor patio and she was very quick to take our orders. Our beverages and food came out faster than we thought, which was great! Friendly service, great value for the huge portions, and fresh & tasty ingredients! Definitely worth a repeat visit!

Sunnyside Solana Buttermilk Pancakes. Giant. Tasty. Awesome. Unbelievably delicious.

I always feel like I am at home when we come here. The most welcoming and friendly staff. The food is hands down the best breakfast in the county. So much flavor and the biggest portions. We sit outside everytime and the temp is just perfect.

Still working on my meal Really good chilaquiles

Service is fabulous Food is amazing Had the chilaquiles in salsa verde, one of the best I've had, and I've had them everywhere even in Mexico. Loved the place I'll definitely be back with my family Also had a side pancake also good The chilaquiles are the best

I went here Sunday morning for breakfast and the experience was good. The employees were attentive and the coffee and food were good. We sat outside and the weather was perfect!

Eggs Benedict, scramble, omelet, breakfast burrito, banana hazelnut pancakes.

The food was delicious! We ordered the breakfast burrito, breakfast bowl, sailor man, and banana Nutella pancakes (these could have used a side small bowl of Nutella for dipping). Also ordered the fresh OJ and iced lattes. Service was super friendly and efficient. Ambiance was so nice sitting outside with the beautiful wall of succulent plants. Pricing was an average of $17 per person. Definitely will return!

That was cool. The staff here are friendly and knowledgeable of their products. I ordered their Citrus Celery juice. For a celery juice, it was well balanced with flavors of orange, apple, grapes, and grapefruit. My fiancé ordered the beet root smoothie with the cacao chips. This was also good. A little bit on the sweet side especially for being beet based. But still very refreshing and also well balanced out with the cacao. The açaí bowl was the best I ever had. The presentation said it all. It was paired well with green apple, raspberries, bananas, walnuts, all the oats, maybe Nutella drizzle and coconut shavings with Greek yogurt. I was down for a second bowl. But it was very filling. Once again a perfect blend of everything. We also tried the avocado toast. I was happy to see that this dish came with more than just avocado and toast. They included an egg arugula, and a tomato. Nowadays, that is way more than what other cafes offer. I thought it was a good price for what you got.

The menu is a little bit different than I remember, but still focuses on fresh and healthy. The girl working at the front used to also work at the PB Location and she's very friendly and knowledgeable. She also gave us samples of the berry smoothie and the green juice to try. I went with the golden milk latte to drink, and it was fabulous. I did have them add a shot of espresso to it because when I was ordering a latte, I definitely was looking for caffeine. It's lovely with turmeric, cinnamon, oat milk, MCT oil and black pepper. I also ordered the Hot Chick salad. It came out looking gorgeous. The salad tasted really good, the chicken was seasoned nicely, and I liked the different textures with the rice, the quinoa and the roasted corn. The dressing was super tasty too. When I got towards the end of my salad, my last few pieces of avocado were bad. It wasn't a dealbreaker for my experience, but I would've definitely preferred that they would've left those pieces out. Also, the little toasted cracker things tasted like cardboard, dry and flavorless. I probably should've tried scooping up some of the salad with them, but I left them on the plate. Overall, I would definitely return to this location. You cannot beat them if you are looking for something fast, casual, and healthy. Definitely not on the cheap though, my salad and latte were $34 before tip, but I don't mind paying for good quality food that is fresh and healthy.

Our waitress made a mistake and put in the wrong omelet for us, so ended up with the Santa Fe, which was...OK. I guess they bake it, so it tasted a bit dry and it definitely needed more seasoning. The hash browns had the same problem. Our daughter got the chocolate chip pancakes and she loved them, but we found them to be pretty average. Their showcase dish--the baked apple pancake--was definitely spectacular when it came out on the plate, but the actual eating experience was only so-so. The crispier parts on the outside were really good if you ate them with some maple syrup, but the rest was a bit mushy and the whole thing was shockingly sweet. With seating outside on both the ground level and up on the roof, it's a perfect spot to soak in some sun, breathe in the ocean air, and have a sip and a bite in this quiet part of town. The menu here is comprehensive with coffee (espresso, pour overs, cold brew), teas, specialty drinks, as well as breakfast and light bites to pair with a good start to the morning. We primarily came for a coffee run but a few of our team members decided to visit for breakfast the following day and from what I've heard, they're solid with the food! I look forward to coming back to give their bites a try. In theme for Saint Patrick's Day, they had a few special drinks but I opted for a traditional flat white this time. They had milk options but as a traditionalist, I went with whole milk. The coffee had great flavor and balance. The richness was bold and rounded out after every sip. I was tempted to grab a couple bags on my way out but seeing they had free shipping for online orders over $40 (about two bags), I decided to save some luggage space and order some when I was back home. The staff were friendly and efficient. I was impressed how many of them they were able to fit behind the small work area but they were experienced and worked collectively as a team. The drinks were prepared quick and for those liking them hot, you will be pleased with the freshness of that first sip. Overall, Achilles Coffee is a perfect small batch roaster to visit while you're in San Diego to get a great cup of coffee, a breakfast to go with it, and some bags of single origin or blend to bring back home for your own brew. And if you're interested in trying them out before you visit or just looking to restock, consider checking out their website and order from there. They even have a sampler to try their in-season batches. I guess their only Achilles' heel is that there aren't more of them but with five spots all across San Diego county, at least a San Diegan (or visitor) can get a taste of the sweet nectar marketed under this Greek warrior's moniker.

But today I needed a little extra je ne sais quoi because my morning was annoying, so I decided to splurge on lunch and not just a pastry here. I asked Steve, the (très beau et gentille!) co-owner what the quiche of the day was. There were two: one with jambon (ham) and one with épinards et fromage de chèvre (spinach and goat cheese). When I hesitated, he told me that the spinach one was amazing. Even though it's $20 for a quiche plate, I decided to go for it. I thought I was going to get a sad little quiche slice for that amount and might regret it. But OMG, it was more than worth it! Already they have a lovely patio on this pretty street in this fancy design district. But it was also a HUGE and exceptionally savory rectangular slice, alongside a DELECTEABLE petite salade. I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. I don't want to spend that much for lunch every day - but I'll be back!
