This place goes up and down in my book. First time we came the service and food was great. The last few times tho something was off: - The fresh squeezed orange juice ALWAYS comes 3/4 full (see the pic). - There are flies flying around the entrance door. Beware they landed on our plates, so maybe ask to sit away from the door. - They let big dogs on the front patio next to the entrance door. Of course with my luck, this dog starts shaking its fur and wagging its tail and ya fur flew all over the place and on my plate. Between the fly and fur fiasco, we're taking a break from this spot. -- And to the owners response below: We did find another restaurant with no flies or friendly dog hair in our food **besitos** ;)

One word.... Delicious! Cute little breakfast in Solana beach! The food was so so good, and so was the service. The food came out very fast (which was SO awesome) because my friends and I had just done a hike so we were starving. Charlie was our waiter, and he was great! Very nice and was accommodating to all our requests. Thank you Sunny Side, for making our visit memorable:) will definitely be back!

I ordered the Solana Omelette. For having chorizo in the meal, I felt like it was lacking flavor. I feel like combination of the omelette didn't go very well together. The mozzarella cheese was a bit dry, for something I wanted more wet. The eggs in an omelette are already generally dry, so It would need something to wet it. I had dipped my omelette in ketchup + tapatio to help with it, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. The onions mixed in with the potatoes were delicious. The potatoes were well seasoned. Everyone else seemed to really like their food though! Next time I would try the freshly squeezed orange juice as well. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Both seating options are so incredible cute. I love the green theme going on throughout the restaurant. Our server was kind to us and made sure we had everything we needed! We never had an empty water bottle since we would replace our big ones. I didn't see a designated parking lot for this place, but there is street parking in front of it. {08/04/26 ~ 11:30AM}

My friends went for a group birthday brunch and it was very good. We sat outside and it was comfortable with a heater. There were a variety of meals ordered at our table from pancakes, burrito, scrambles and burger. Everyone was happy with their food. I was excited that they still had the delicious vegan scramble bowl that I got last time I came. It was really impressive. The waitress handled the group calmly and efficiently. The only thing that was lacking was the matcha. I wanted chai but it wasn't available so I chose a matcha latte and it was not very much matcha flavor in my opinion.

Great place for breakfast! Good service. Good vibes. Good food. Short Rib Hash: tender, good flavor, and good portion Wifey ate the special Country Fried Steak. Big portion for her she couldn't finish it. She usually asks for the gravy on the side for this dish. She liked it. She requested the Plantation Ice tea, pineapple juice with a splash of ice tea. Not on menu. Made just like home. Free Parking- In the front and back We will come back whenever in the area.

I would drive all the way from Chula Vista for a meal here again! We were in the area for an errand, found this restaurant on Yelp and it was amazing. Street parking and a parking lot behind the restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. Customer service was good. The banana pineapple French toast was top 3 best French toast I've ever had in my life. Banana and pineapple, never had that combo on French toast before but it was delicious. The bacon was cooked to perfection. The homemade strawberry jam that comes with the toast is DELICIOUS. I wanted to buy some to take home but $8 for the smallest jar was too steep for me. But I look forward to my next visit so I can enjoy all of these things again. I knocked off a star because the fresh squeezed OJ was not filled anywhere close to the top of the glass and was served with ice, so it forced us to drink it fast to prevent it from being watered down. The Arnold Palmer had a great flavor but contained way too much ice. I don't like how they flip their water cups upside down so the rims of the glasses are touching the tables. Yes, they clean/sanitize the tables but I've worked in many restaurants and just don't trust it. But our server was nice and grabbed us new glasses upon our request. Overall, a great dining experience and I can't wait to be back!

After a hike at Annie's Canyon Trail nearby, my friends, and I stopped by to replenish our energy. I ordered the turkey club sandwich that came with extra crispy French fries. The sandwich was huge and delicious! One of my friends got the vegetable and cheese omelette. I had a bite and thought it was also very delicious! The mint lemonade was very minty and refreshing! We loved the food here and would highly recommend the dishes that we ordered! Our server, Julia, took excellent care of us. We were seated in the outdoor patio and she was very quick to take our orders. Our beverages and food came out faster than we thought, which was great! Friendly service, great value for the huge portions, and fresh & tasty ingredients! Definitely worth a repeat visit!

I always feel like I am at home when we come here. The most welcoming and friendly staff. The food is hands down the best breakfast in the county. So much flavor and the biggest portions. We sit outside everytime and the temp is just perfect.

The food was delicious! We ordered the breakfast burrito, breakfast bowl, sailor man, and banana Nutella pancakes (these could have used a side small bowl of Nutella for dipping). Also ordered the fresh OJ and iced lattes. Service was super friendly and efficient. Ambiance was so nice sitting outside with the beautiful wall of succulent plants. Pricing was an average of $17 per person. Definitely will return!

I have Celiac Disease, it is a gluten allergy. I ordered the banana Nutella pancakes GLUTEN FREE. I made sure the lady knew I was gluten free, when the food was delivered the pancakes looked too good to be gluten free. I asked the lady this is gluten free correct? My waiter then went into the kitchen to double check and came back confirming the pancakes were gluten free. I believed her and continued to eat them. About an hour later I got very sick and threw up for hours from the pancakes. This business does not care for people with allergy's, not focusing on it at all and messing up 2 times when asked to double check. I recommend people with allergies do not attend this restaurant! read more

Came back to this spot and I don't know why I haven't come back sooner. My favourite is still their truffle hash but their smoke Salmon benny and bacon toast is to die for. The tiramisu latte looks like a dessert. The owner, Ed l, imports ingredients from Italy and they make their own bread and other ingredients. So many good things to say about this place! I am from NorCal but have family down south and visit 2-3 times a year. This has become a staple for us now. I've had multiple items but this time might've been my favorite. I ordered the Solana omelette which had chorizo and I couldn't stop eating! I ordered mine with no tomatoes and croissant as my bread choice. The croissant was huge and crispy. The omelette itself was cooked nicely and a great size. My brother had the sliders and the egg was cooked perfectly on his. My mom had the salmon Benedict that was also devoured. Our server was helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. He let us know his favorite meals and checked on us often. The Bloody Mary was delicious as well! Definitely recommend. read more

Wow the food here is so good! I like that their toast is thick. I tried an iced vanilla latte with almond milk and it was really good. I also tried their gluten free pancakes and they were very flavourful and yummy. I recommend this place! We sat outside on the patio with family and we all really enjoyed as thos was our first time. My husband got a cinnamon roll and it looked like a birthday cake, so awesome! read more

Food, service and ambiance all top notch!. We had the amazing special panettone French toast and green chilaquiles. Both dishes were delicious, though we preferred the French toast. They had a bagel that looked like a pumpkin, with a spinach omelette. It was very cleaver. We'll be back. read more

We ate here for the first time and got outdoor seating because we had our puppies. Outdoor seating is spacious and pleasant. The whole staff is friendly, welcoming and helpful. Victoria was our server and she was very attentive, nice and accommodating to our special food requests. She is an excellent server. We are Hispanic and are fully bilingual but it's always so refreshing to be able to speak your native language with strangers . Victoria speaks perfect English and Spanish and we loved that she noticed we were Hispanic and spoke to us in Spanish. She checked in us periodically and did not rush us at all. She is a great addition to your staff. Good customer service in casual restaurants is hard to get but this place offers great service. The food is delicious. Generous portions, fresh ingredients and the right temperature. I do recommend you pre chill the champagne bottles for Mimosas. read more

Stopped thru Sunny Side Solana for a quick breakfast on my way back home from San Diego. First off, the location is right off the beach, so the atmosphere is super chill. The inside is very quaint and cute. The staff was very nice. It was a day before my daughters 7th birthday and they made her feel special. She ordered the Belgian waffle with sprinkles and whipped crème. I got a taste, the waffle was delicious. I ordered the Short Rib Hash with Scrambled cheese eggs. 10/10 btw! Lovely atmosphere, but the water glasses smell like rotten soap & the waiter forgot the cups ant that HE suggested - then it took 6-7 mins for him to bring it out. The food was kinda "meh"... - the cheese in my omelette was not entirely melted, but the eggs were slightly over cooked (I assume that means they were cooking too fast on high heat) - the Banana Nutella pancakes my daughter ordered did have Bananas & Nutella, but with such a small amount that covered "maybe" a third of the pancake stack. And while the PN cakes are decent, they're not edible dry. Seriously disappointing. read more

My friends and I were looking for a brunch spot to refuel after hiking around Annie's Canyon Trail. A few businesses in the area were not quite open yet, so when we spotted Sunny Side Solana, we browsed the menu quickly and decided to eat here. Atmosphere was cute and definitely gave off a brunch vibe! However, the service was very s l o w. At one point we wondered if we would ever actually get our food. I'm not sure if there was a staffing issue, or if the business is new and just getting a hang of things, but the wait for our food was very long. I ordered the I'm Vegan Hungry, which was a scramble made with vegan egg, sausage, tomatoes, and roasted potatoes. While the dish itself wasn't bad, they slapped a piece of vegan cheese on top, quite literally. It looked as if someone placed a piece of solid, cold Kraft singles on top of scrambled eggs. My friend had one minor issue with her order, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Overall, not a terrible experience, but definitely not the best either. I'm often in the area, so I will most likely return and can hopefully update my experience more positively. read more

Food is delicious. I had the steak and eggs and my friend had the açaí bowl. Mocha was yummy and it was a little cup so I wish it held more. Mexican Coke was the perfect drink for me. Service was fast and friendly. It wasn't a very big place. Both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking was right in front but I was there bright and early too. read more

Go elsewhere for food- I don't recommend this place. Came here for brunch Monday and the service was slow and unfriendly. The food tasted bland and generic, like they were not proud of the food they serve. I got the salmon Benedict and the sauce tasted weird, and cream cheese was in flavored. Potato's were burnt, and utensils were not clean. Water was tap and tasted bad. I did not appreciate them taking 20 minutes take our check at the end. read more

Wowwww!!! This restaurant is really great quality, nice size hefty portions, and super tasty. I had the salmon cream cheese Benedict. I highly recommend it. The service is really great and friendly and the prices are reasonable. They offer fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and orange juice and almond milk for my matcha. I can't say enough good things about the French toast at Sunny Side's Solana! It's easily the best I've ever had -- perfectly golden on the outside, soft and custardy on the inside, with just the right balance of sweetness. Every bite felt like pure comfort. You can tell they use high-quality ingredients and put real care into the preparation. The atmosphere at Sunny Side's is welcoming and relaxed, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a slow, delicious brunch. If you're anywhere near Solana Beach, you have to stop by and treat yourself. Have been coming to this location for years, to each different kind of breakfast spot it has been over the years, and sunny side has been the best experience ever! Breakfast is my favorite meal so I don't give this review lightly, Best food, menu, service, Arianna our server was so personable sweet attentive and knowledgeable. If you come for brunch you have to get the cinnamon roll! Loved the bottomless mimosas too. 10/10 on food and service and will be adding sunny side to my rotation of restaraunts! read more

We primarily came for a coffee run but a few of our team members decided to visit for breakfast the following day and from what I've heard, they're solid with the food! Overall, Achilles Coffee is a perfect small batch roaster to visit while you're in San Diego to get a great cup of coffee, a breakfast to go with it, and some bags of single origin or blend to bring back home for your own brew. And if you're interested in trying them out before you visit or just looking to restock, consider checking out their website and order from there. They even have a sampler to try their in-season batches. I guess their only Achilles' heel is that there aren't more of them but with five spots all across San Diego county, at least a San Diegan (or visitor) can get a taste of the sweet nectar marketed under this Greek warrior's moniker.

I asked Steve what mustard they use in the vinaigrette, and he said plain old Dijon - but the proportions and the seasoning were EXCELLENT. So it was salad perfection, not heavily dressed at all, just delightful. The patio was full on a Friday with ladies who lunch - but did that include me, as a solo diner, since I am a lady who had lunch? I'm not sure, but you can feel comfortable here no matter what. And now I know Madeleine Cafe is much too good to just come for coffee and for ordering in French from Steve or his co-owner Emmanuel. A few suggestions (other than more reasonable prices): pay attention to dine in vs. to go. Offer different types of pizza every once in a while, or offer seasonal. Turn the music down a bit, off would do too.

I rarely find myself compelled to leave negative reviews, but my first and only visit to Sunny Side Solana left much to be desired. Despite the restaurant's seemingly glowing reputation, my family's experience was far from satisfactory. We arrived with high hopes based off the average 4.5 star ratings and reviews. Unfortunately, our optimism quickly waned as we sampled one lackluster meal after another. The Chorizo and Cheddar Scrambowls, while not terrible, were nothing special and small in portion size. My sandwich, the Carnivorian, was a major disappointment. It was literally a slab of meat in between pieces of bread. They did not slice the steak into thin small pieces and it was utterly devoid of flavor. In fact, it was so unappetizing that I couldn't bring myself to take more than two bites. Additionally, we were blindsided by unexpected upcharges, including a credit card transaction fee and a "Solana Beach service fee." These hidden charges left a sour taste in our mouths and significantly inflated the final bill. Perhaps we simply caught this restaurant on an off day, but based on our visit, I struggle to understand the restaurant's popularity and glowing reviews. We had such a wonderful experience at Sunny Side Solana. Due to the heavy traffic from Los Angeles to San Diego, we arrived very late to our reservation, but the owner, Ruddy, was incredibly understanding, kind, and accommodating. He warmly welcomed us and graciously adjusted our reservation from 8 people to 10 without making us feel uncomfortable at all. What truly stood out was not only their hospitality, but also the exceptional quality of the food and the outstanding service. Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing, fresh, and full of flavor. The food was truly unbeatable. We genuinely appreciated the care and effort the team put into making us feel welcomed despite our delayed arrival. Thank you again for such a memorable experience. I visited the establishment yesterday morning, where our server, Christian, displayed exceptional attentiveness. The food was of excellent quality, including French toast, steak and eggs, and the Sailor Man Benedict. Everything was very satisfying. During our visit, we observed a tall individual whom I presume to be the owner, exhibiting poor treatment towards his employees. His conduct was notably rude and disrespectful, particularly towards an elderly worker who appeared to be very diligent. This behavior made us feel quite uncomfortable. I am seriously considering reporting this incident to the labor department. I have never written a review before, but today is an exception. I decided to try this new restaurant, and unfortunately, it turned out to be the worst dining experience I've ever had. At first, the place looked welcoming and nicely decorated, which raised my expectations. However, the food was a complete disappointment. I ordered the Chilaquiles, and they were far from what was described on the menu. The beans were dry, and the Chilaquiles themselves lacked flavor and authenticity. To make matters worse, the entire dish was served cold. Overall, the food was terrible, and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

I was looking for a new breakfast place and I came across this beautiful restaurant in Solana, the decor is so chic they have an outside patio and they are pet friendly,the restaurant looked clean they have a really nice menu. The portions of the food was generous,I order the strawberry French toast and my mom the herb & mushroom omelet and everything was delicious.the service was excellent everyone is so attentive and nice with a big smile, they make you feel welcome. I will totally recommend this place to my friends we will be coming back really soon. read more

Sunny Side at Solana is hands down my new favorite breakfast spot! The food was absolutely delicious--everything was cooked to perfection. Our waitress, Arianna, was fantastic and made us feel so welcome with her friendly and attentive service. To top it all off, the owner personally came by and gave us some homemade jam (peach), which was out of this world! You can tell they really care about the quality of their food and the experience they offer. If you're looking for a great breakfast with a personal touch, Sunny Side is the place to go! read more

I had an amazing breakfast experience at this place! I tried the chicken and waffles, the French toast, and freshly squeezed orange juice--all were absolutely delicious and made with care. The flavors were on point, and everything tasted fresh. The standout for me was how welcoming and friendly the owner, Ed, was. After a spontaneous visit to dog beach, we stumbled upon Sunny Side Solana, and it turned out to be an amazing find! The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and they welcomed our dog with open arms. The owner personally came by to greet us and ensure we were having a great time. They even brought water for our dog, adding to the wonderful atmosphere. This place made our day, and it's definitely going on our list of regular spots. Highly recommend! read more

This is our new favorite brunch spot! We have been here a few times and they're consistently amazing! The staff is warm and welcoming, the service is quick and the food is phenomenal!! When you visit, try the short rib hash, baby kale & shrimp salad, and it's all white scramble. We'll definitely be back to try their dinner! read more

Felt rushed to order and to eat our food. The grilled cheese wasn't event melted all the way. The ambiance and aesthetics were great but the service felt rushed. Wasn't even offered if we wanted a refill on coffee. We didn't get to enjoy our meals to do the rush feeling. Will not be coming here again. read more

The owners customer service is racist , we were 3 and he asked to wait 5 minutes , two more show up (Caucasian) and he sit them in the spot . read more
