I came here on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Our hotel was located in a great location for attractions, but not so great for food, at least not on a Sunday morning. According to my Yelp app, this was the closest place where I could find an American-style breakfast that wasn't closed on weekends, so we strolled over. I was a bit sad that it wasn't a sit-down diner, but we were able to grab seats right outside. No biggie. The food really wasn't that great. My over-easy eggs were overcooked. My home fries were way undercooked, like seasoned raw potato chunks. Sausage and toast were fine, but anyone can heat up packaged sausage and make toast. I wasn't very happy about the food, but I was happy to have found the food, so extra points for being open when I needed them. read more

Full service cafe! Loved it. I had a bacon, egg and cheese bagel. Delicious. My son had pancakes and bacon and my bf had a sesame bagel with cream cheese. Everything was great. Wife and I got breakfast here. And we ordered the Grilled Cheese and Bacon sandwich for me and the Ham, Egg and cheese on pita for my wife. It wasn't to bad. Honestly, this place is great. Wish we had a deli like this near us back in Philly. We came here two days in a row for breakfast and everything we got was perfection. The staff was so cheerful and efficient. Both times there were lines of people and they took care of everyone quickly. After spending hundreds of dollars this weekend at fancier restaurants, my $15 breakfast for two, was the best meal of the weekend. Awesome little spot in the heart of DC. Breakfast burrito was exceptional. Saw a review that said this place was pricier than others.... huh??? Where have they been going, McDonalds?? I got breakfast from here when I was staying at the Carlyle hotel not too far away, and this was the most underwhelming breakfast I've ever had. I'm not sure how you can mess up breakfast yet alone french toast but here we are. I ordered egg whites, french toast and bacon. The french toast was a bit dry, the bacon was very hard and the egg whites didnt have any salt or pepper (I ordered the food to go so I didnt have the option to add salt and pepper). To give them the benefit of the doubt, it was a late breakfast and I did have it to go so maybe that effected the quality. I will say, it got the job done. After having a bad experience 2 years ago, I decided to try them again definitely after seeing the good reviews however this was a huge mistake! The Latina lady that usually works the cash register on Sundays, had such a bad attitude. She made me wait to place my order for 5 minutes before she came and asked me what I wanted to order all because she got mad because I wasn't sure what I wanted to order when I first entered the restaurant. When I was ready to order, I called her to let her know that I am ready, she looked at me and continued to pretend like she was busy and made me wait another 3 minutes. When I received my food, it tasted so nasty as if it was either old or cooked too long on purpose. I hate to be the one that says "they probably spit in your food or dropped it on the floor" but I promise you something was done to my food because it didn't taste normal and I had a small piece of hair in my homefries. Great food - limited seating, definitely more so if eating outside is not an option. I ordered the gyro and feta omelette and added spinach. Very fresh and tasty. Generous portions and the home fries were very good. My husband had the western omelette and he said it tasted like good home cooking. Zero complaints here! Sometimes I find myself in a rush while on my way to work in the morning, and this is a quick place to stop in for a cheap and tasty breakfast sandwich. I've had their sandwiches on croissants, plain wheat bread, etc.... with cheese, ham, and egg. They come piping hot and wrapped in aluminum foil, which is great to eat on the way to work. This isn't gourmet food, it's something you may cook for yourself on a lazy morning, or that your mom may have made you for a pre-school breakfast. The workers are quick and get you your food within minutes. Definitely check this out if you're in a time-crunch and need some cheap breakfast. read more

Their Gyro Platter serves up a hefty portion of rice, Greek salad, gyro meat, a big glop of tzaziki, all covered with feta crumbles, for $7.00. I've been here twice so far, and loved it both times. The first time I got the ham breakfast platter with two fried eggs, whole wheat toast, and bacon. My boyfriend got the biscuit and gravy breakfast platter with fried eggs. Both were AMAZING. I work a block away from here and was pleasantly surprised to find a place that served breakfast food and other delicious items 7 days a week for good prices. Being used to smaller businesses being cash only, I was expecting to be turned away the first time. But they accept card so my stomach was happy! I really enjoyed that they have ketchup packets and sauce packets to use instead of bottles, it just seems more homey and casual (in a good way). The second time I came here I got the gyro value meal. Which was FANTASTIC. There are a couple Mediterranean food places around Farragut Square but this gyro was plentiful, flavorful, and dripping in sauce. The fries were also unique from other places, it seemed very handmade and flavorful as well. You can't beat a giant lunch like that for only $7 in downtown DC. It's a little small, but they make do with what they have. Window seating and outdoor seating with metal chairs and patio umbrellas. I have yet to try their ice cream or other sandwiches and/or breakfast places, but I'll definitely be back. Probably tomorrow. With everyone else in my office. read more

So my boyfriend and I checked this place out due to all of the positive reviews and the photos people took looked fantastic! Upon arriving, it was obvious the place is always busy, which is a good sign. We ordered our food: I got the Spanish omelet with potatoes, toast and grits. My boyfriend got the Gyro omelet with feta, toast and potatoes as well. I have to say..... We both loved the food! It looked great, tasted great. But I'll get to the point: only an hour or so after eating, my stomach was in serious pain. That was around noon, and now it's 9:30pm. I never - I mean never - have stomach troubles. I walk by Sunrise when I have meetings in the area about once a month. I randomly stumbled in to grab a coffee one day and was surprised at the large variety of menu items they have--and for cheap! So, in the following weeks, I've had their egg and cheese bagel and gyro combo special which was only $7 and came with fries and a drink. It's nice to find a "mom and pop" place that serves simple, tasty food. And you can tell the owners take great pride in providing good customer service! The egg and cheese bagel was just that--fresh egg, real cheese, and a bagel. Done. No extra sauces and tubs of butter on it to quickly make it an unhealthy start to the day. Sometimes, you just want simple, with a homemade taste. The gyro was equally tasty...an adequate amount of tzakiki sauce and the fries thick cut and again, not overly greasy. We were looking for a local spot rather than a chain in the area near our hotel and in the area a lot of the places were closed on the weekend or chains. We found this place on yelp and it seemed like what we were looking for. It was a short 5 minute wall from the hotel and the menu looked good. The only thing was the seating was scarce so initially we left but came back and got a table. We didn't have enough seating so some people had to stand or share a seat which want ideal especially on Father's Day. They definitely should add more seats. We ordered Greek omelette platters, a bacon egg and cheese croissant, bagels and coffee. All of the food was very good and not greasy. We had a nice breakfast and the staff were nice. That said- we liked it and will send dad down from the hotel to grab breakfast while showering teens in room. Delicious, esp for $6.75. 2 egg special with pancakes and a veggie omelet - all delicious and good diner fare. A Peete's coffee across the street will round out your morning. It is a cheap place with good food. i have tried so far their French toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs..i was not a big fan of potatoes which were bland, otherwise, i can't complain about anything. It is not a beautiful place where you can take a girl for your first date, seats are limited and nothing fancy, I prefer take away which is obviously the choice of most of the costumers. I'm not exactly sure why this place has such outstanding reviews. The food is convenient but mediocre at best. My boyfriend and I frequent this place on the weekends for breakfast since we live really close. Also, quick breakfast options on a Sunday are pretty limited. I have tried the western omelette and the breakfast burrito. The western omelette was meh and you get a ton of potatoes and the bacon was soggy. Today I tried the breakfast burrito and once I brought it home and opened it all I could do is laugh. It was literally a huge breakfast taco - not wrapped like how a burrito should be. I ordered it with bacon and they forgot that (not sure how it is on the menu as "breakfast burrito with bacon or sausage") and it was loaded with really large potatoes.
